The location is good. It's not far from places to eat and approxomately 20 minutes from the airport, with no traffic. The linens were clean. Stained, but clean. When I got to the hotel to check in, the lobby was locked (it was 7:30 PM), there was no buzzer to get anyone's attention. When we picked ho the phone that was next to the door it rang to a voicemail, no one came to let us check in for at least 10 mins. I would have left if they didn't have my deposit. The description said there was a kitchen. My "kitchen" was a mini-fridge, a microwave, and a toaster. The fridge had an expired soda in it, the a/c unit was plugged into a regular surge protector that was stretched across our room and plugged in Behind the tv, it also Had to be controlled through the remote control that I didn't find until 5 hours after I got there. There was a Black Ice pine tree Car air-freshener on my light fixture, stains On the mattress pad (I stripped the bed in the morning to get fresh linens & saw the stained pad), and you could tell that the most "cleaning" that had been done was a quick wipe-down. There was dirt on the vanity & in the bathroom.
Clean. Friendly staffs.
Price, cleanliness, comfort Difficult to access from the hwy.
I would like my money back, I didn't get any rest, whole reason why I purchased the hotel in the first place. I was supposed to get a callback from the manager, never did. Contacted kayak as well to see if they can speak with them representative was very rude. From the bed to the TV not working properly to the noisy people outside.
I liked that the room met my needs and the pool was right in front of my door. I think the hotel is good. However, maybe you can update some of the furniture in the lobby and add an accent wall or modern decor to help boost up a more luxurious feel? Especially since you are competing with other hotels in the strip. You don't want to look like the "cheap one" . Keep your affordable prices and good house keeping and just do a few cosmetic upgrades. Its very inexpensive and i think it would be more visually attractive. You will get more customers as well because they will feel like they are walking into a more high end hotel. Be careful with the pool lock (it doesn't really lock, i think its broken) that might be a liability in case a child is ever out late at night and wants to sneak in the pool. Also keep all pool toys in a safe place and organized.
Good price. Pets stay free. Good pet area out back. Welcoming feel for travelers with pets (cats & dogs welcome). Busy commercial area. Very basic hotel so if you don't have a pet you may be able to find one a bit more comfortable for the price.
Well my second day there we left bright and early for the beach. Once we arrived back to our room, we noticed housekeeping had came. Great! Then we went to plus our phones up to charge. OUR CHARGERS WERE GONE! The next morning i went straight to the front desk. The lady said she would talk to the supervisor. At this time, i let her know the fridge wasnt staying cool. She said maintenance would be out to fix it. I never heard anything back. So every morning after that i went to the front desk to ask about charger. She eventually told me, she doesnt see any of her people stealing and brushed it off. Needless to say we have to buy new chargers because someone stole ours. And maintenance didnt come for the fridge until 2 hours before our checkout.
My stayed at the Magnuson Hotel Clearwater Central was excellent. The room was very clean and spacious. The best part for me was the pool area. It was really relaxing; I enjoyed swimming in the pool and laying down on the chairs while sun was shinning. The personnel was really corteous and professional at all time.
Claimed it was in a good location for the beach...It is only in a good location to get on the highway and drive away
Not a terrible hotel . Not real modern or clean . Photos are clearly photo shopped on web site !!! Ok price for money .
Stayed one night to visit my daughters college in St. Petersburg.
Very easy to get to everything I wasn't but if you had a second floor room you had to use the stairs..
Wi-Fi access, free breakfast and also a good diner next door. Staff was very helpful. Pool was very nice. A good value, honestly. Could use some updating: ie, painting and fixtures, bathroom cabinets. Pillows were very flat, obviously rather old and used.
OK Value & next to IHOP & Walmart Old, worn, & smelly. Was itching in my bed. Not sure if it was mosquito bites, or otherwise, but I was in town for 4 more nights and was never again bit by mosquitoes, so IDK. Smelled funky, especially A/C.
No microwave in roon, some staff were rude
Close to spring training . The pool was very nice A little hard to communicate. Poor shower head. Door didn't lock sometimes. Need to empty outdoor trash can more often. Hot tub was in total disrepair.
The older guy at the front desk was impatient rude but he did help after he put his foot down

Nothing but the location. Staff so rude. They changed my room and charged me extra money. The breakfast was just coffee and cinnamon rolls. The room was so dirty. Restroom smells stinky. Carpet so dirty and my feet turned black from walking inside the room. NOT RECOMMENDED at all.
Good location. Close to food, gas, grocery stores. AC barely worked, no coffee pot in room. Pillow cases were stained. There was grease of some sort all over night stand and remote control. Shower was weak.
The location was great. Close to beach and downtown for a great price. Also the room was big enough for our family of 5. The heated pool was great as well. The hot tub was not working
clean, comfortable. was able to extend stay at discount price. Refrigerator didn't work
location Its really a motel, not a hotel...
When we arrived to check in, Owner was friendly and went above and beyond our expectations to also help us find a cab to the venue we were going to be attending that evening, The room was very clean for the age of the hotel, We will return when in town.
Costumer service was great very quite and make you feel home No just price kinda high

The staff was very orderly and nice. They kept us stocked in clean towels. Everything was fine given our budget.
Front desk attendant told us we could have paid less by booking straight through them. Everything else. Smelly, dirty, older, run down, cigarette burns in the sheets, husband bit up by bed bugs, We paid $130 for a room that should have cost $30, MAYBE $40. Very disappointed, will never stay at a Super 8 again.
Lots of cockroaches running around the main floor room. No pillow protectors on the pillows. Very dissappointing
Bed, smell, noise
good value the safe is nice but costs extra. didn't see that sign till i was checking out
Price Poor breakfast :(
Convenient location. Older. But, they are renovating.
Easy location to airport. (PIE) Many shady characters around. We were awakened early in the morning by someone screaming "Help me!" in the hallway on 3rd floor... and then arguing and more yelling. Ruined our trip.
It was close to the airport and restaurants The sheets and bathroom were very dirty. The bathroom floors had hair everywhere. The tub/shower was dirty. I cleaned the bathroom myself. It was gross!
It's not a top of the line place-I have stayed in a lot worse for more cost... it wasn't the cleanest, but it was clean (except that the coffee maker had someone else's coffee / coffee grinds left inside from previous occupant) Smell of chemicals was strong-on elevator; but didn't smell in room... it's not a 5 star hotel; but it's also not a five star price!!!
The price was very reasonable. The location was perfect for my needs. It was very basic, but met my needs just fine. I'd stay there again. The room was kind of drab and could use updating.
I like the price I managed to get the room for and the fact that it was pet friendly. The location wasn't too bad either since it wasn't that far from some things. The tile floor in my room was dirty. It looked clean but when you walk across it barefoot, by the time you got to the other side of your room, your feet were black. Some of the things need to be updated/replaced. The silver plate around the light fixture in the bathroom was rusted, there is no main light, (although there is a switch that controls absolutely nothing) there are only two lamps (on the other end of the room) so if you get there at night, you better have a flashlight or something. I booked a non-smoking room and got one, it did not smell like smoke at all but my neighbor apparently smoked and when they lit up, I could smell it in my room; that kind of made it pointless to book a non-smoking room.
Pet friendly with no weight limit on dogs Room was surprisingly updated with flat screen tv Beds were comfortable Clean Wood floors Key to my room stopped working twice and the clerk said that cell phones can erase the info on the key. That's a problem in 2015. Loud in the hallways with doors slamming Low price attracts low income clientele with people loitering around in the cars in the parking lot.
They refunded me for the next night since I decided not to stay and were friendly. The pictures are very deceiving. Normally I would not have booked at a motel but the pictures made it look like it was a decent place to stay and it was a last-minute booking and there was low availability in town that weekend. The room was very dirty. The bathroom was not clean, the sheets were dirty, there were cob webs on the ceiling, the chair in the room was filthy, the door was covered in grime, and the ceiling had what looked like rust spots or something all over. I checked in and checked out in the same hour. I also found it really weird they only take cash deposits which I was unaware of before checking in.
Inexpensive. Staff was cordial. The place was unclean. Rust on metal fixtures, cigarette burns on furniture, sticky substances on the table, scuff marks on walls and doors, and the bed felt more like a box spring than a mattress. Towels were like sandpaper. Hallways reeked of smoke and carpeting deeply soiled.
The A/C worked great, fantastic location. Less than 2 miles from where I needed to be. Staff was pleasant but hard to understand. Wasn't the cleanest hotel I ever stayed in but wasn't the nastiest either. Saw 2 roaches and the sheets were not clean (no bed bugs, just some stains). NOT happy about the $50 deposit. It would have been nice to know there was going to be one BEFORE I booked instead of finding out about it at check in. Was afraid to request another room or complain about anything for fear that I wouldn't get my deposit back. There were kids everywhere! Not a deal breaker but the place was rather noisy. NOTE: there is a "Gentleman's Club" right next door which could be a plus OR a minus depending why you are planning your stay here.
Price of the room was cheaper than other motels. Rooming smelled like cigarettes, lamps did not have bulbs, ceiling paint was peeling off, bedsheets did not seem clean (found a long women's hair on the sheet and i was only one traveling). Heard next door guests found bedbugs. When the guests requested refund, person at the front desk said supervisor was not on premises but few minutes later told the guests that she was the manager.... I guess she didn't want to deal with the guests and the bedbug problem.
Price Older facility that was not well kept/clean.
Nothing Nasty , black mold, the patio door said not to open unless emergency , turns out it didn't even lock it was unlocked the whole time , there was no fridge or microwave , the room was nothing like picture, the room was old stinky and moist, damp like mold .
Wood laminate floors easy to clean. Price not bad for property 10 minutes from beach. Noisy. My room was beside an exit door which SLAMMED shut every time someone used it. Very little sleep last night there due to door slamming. Room was cleaned daily, but hallway dirty and not vacuumed during my stay. Some stairwell lights burned out. Ice/vending machines in poor repair. Hotel says, its nonsmking, but smell of smoke lingered in air. Location odd....on a one way access road, so you had to go past it and do a U-turn to get to it. Would not stay here, again!
It was conveniently located close to everything we needed Old food found behind beds, ceiling was peeling in multiple areas, dirt all over walls, holes in the floor, water smelled like sulfur, bathroom was disgusting-- looked like it had black mold. Nothing a coat of fresh paint and cleaning couldn't fix honestly. Just looked like pure laziness to me. Also the cops were there for a guest, who knows what happened. Luckily we didn't get bed bugs like the other reviews said.
Nothing fancy at all. This place is convenient for people just passing through for a one night stay or looking for a cheap place to rent. Room seemed simple. Don't expect anything luxury but just always inspect for bed bugs as my parter did got bit on his arm which left a mark for a couple of hours. Location is fair. Hotel is kind of near a noisy street but it's tolerable after wee hours. Just be on the look out for routy neighbors. Didn't like how the doors weren't touching the ground so you can kind of see the hallway from the bed. Had to put towels to block the open space to feel a bit more comfortable and safe from anyone peeking through. Also, they didn't have breakfast which I honestly thought and wish they did. They had coffee but fresh pastries would have been nice with that.
Location was great, clean, comfortable and the staff was great Nothing
The room was nice and the bed was very comfortable. Saw bugs in the bathroom which was a bit dirty and outdated.
The people running the property were amazing, the location being so close to everything was perfect and the heated pool wasn't bad... hands down best part was the squirrel living on the property! Was a little outdated and could have been a bit cleaner, just being picky.
The location was very nice. It wasn't too close to the busy part of the beach area which made it nice and quiet. But, close enough walk to the everything. It took awhile for the a/c to cool down the room. Other than that, it was all fine.
there were 2 bedrooms and close enough to beach to walk to it the beds were very uncomfortable and bathroom was very small
It was very cost effective, but a great room. The beds weren't the best to sleep on, however the kitchen made up for the uncomfortable bed. Just take an extra pillow and you're set! Just the bed.
You can't beat the price and location. It was noisy due to the traffic. I would have prefered central air instead of a window air conditioner.
Location and beach were great. Plenty of hot water. Outdated and in disrepair. Room was clean, although furnishings were old and worn. "Resort" did NOT appear as in pictures! The room rate for the surrounding area was very low, but the rate for what you actually got was very disappointing. Would not recommend.
View from the room was perfect. It was quiet and close to several restaurants Hardly any hot water.
Beach and ocean is beautiful Hotel need serious updating. I think the room were ok clean. But difficult to tell. Manager and front desk no professionalism.seems occupied when checking us in. Manager was rude to several guests. We were sitting on the lawn in front of our room watching the ocean and chatting , sprinklers turned on at 9:15pm and soaked every thing. We tried to reach staff of hotel, no one was available by phone or in person. Parking was very limited. We had guest trying to visit, no extra parking anywhere close to hotel. Will not return.
Loved the beach location. The room was clean and the beds comfortable. Strictly a beach, old Florida type room ,no frills. Loved that there was no smoking on the property. Walls were thin and you could hear your neighbor.
The outside grounds are lovely if you look past the guests and the refrigerator was apartment size and on the new side. Wow, this was the worst hotel experience I have ever had! I tried to check-out early since I had booked extra days past my one night through Kayak. I had gotten in late and had no idea that place was so bad until I had already slapped down the credit card to extend. They would not give me anything back since it was already charged to my card. It was a rare thing to walk to either sink and not find at least one roach. After working all day outside Saturday, a cold (not warm, cold) shower was available. When I told the front desk I was yelled at and told to go back to my room. NEVER have I been treated badly by hotel staff! The two tables at the pool are the smoking area. Even when I went out to have breakfast and no one was around, it was quickly swarming with smokers...right where I was eating when there was another butt bucket at the other table. The guests are just loud and trashy and it very much felt like most of them live there as they all seem to know one another. It was normal to see someone standing by the pool with a cigarette in their hand yelling to family in their room through the open door, on either floor. The tub had a large hole in the bottom that was patched and a rubber mat placed over it. The TV had a hard time turning on and when it finally would, the picture was very saturated and blurry. The room smelled bad and the ceiling fan only worked as a light. The stove was rusty and old and most of the electric eyes were falling in. The fridge was good!
The pool looked nice but we did not use it. Kinda low-lifeish. Older motel with no extras, other than a pool if you can call that an extra in Florida. No breakfast of any kind. Range and sink but no dishes, pans, flatware, Pretty basic motel.
