GoodSep 20197.1
Very comfortable beds, amazing breakfast, very helpful staff
This place is at the top of the hilly area. It was very steep and difficult walk up and down rough cobblestone streets each way. Would recommend staying in the lower part of coimbra and only go to the top to see the university.

Staff was lovely, kind and helpful. Breakfast was very nice. Room and bed very comfortable. Shared bathroom was clean. Nice to stay in a more traditional type of accommodation. Very close to see sights.
Shower was too hot, was unable to turn the temperature down. Being at the top of the steep hill did become quite exhausting in the end, unfortunately the elevator was not working.

The owner and her assistant were very nice, helpful and knowledgeable. The breakfast was great. The WiFi worked well. The room was small but comfortable with an excellent shower. Nice view out over the city to the west.
The Casa Pombal was a poor choice for us. We had trouble negotiating the stairs to the top floor. The Casa is also at the tippy top of the town. One had to go down, down to get to a restaurant then back up up. Lastly, the old plumbing resulted in a sewer smell in the bathroom. The owner has tried to rectify this without much success. No soap supplied and two tiny bottles of shampoo.

Anna, the hotel manager and keeper is very friendly, helpful and goes out of her way to make you feel welcome and comfortable. We have never stayed in a guesthouse with shared bathroom, but it was absolutely fine. The guest house is full of old world charm and the beds are super comfortable. The bathrooms have been renovated and wonderful thick towels are provided. Anna makes a delicious breakfast in the morning and is so grateful for your business..This is an excellent choice if you want to see the university b/c it is only a 10 minute walk.
For the price it was excellent- no complaints at all.
