The superior double room was beautiful. Setting of the hotel - wonderful The welcome was not good. The satff did nto seem bothered that you were coming as a guest in their hotel. At dinner on the sunday night we ordered the set menu 55 euros plus tax, including wine. The small 5 courses were supposed to represent thier whole menu. The meal was one of the worst we had even eaten. Please contact us for more info.
Excellent rooms, very quiet, good facilities In spite of informing staff that we needed to leave early, nobody in reception/breakfast area until 8.45. Outside gates locked, All telephones switched on to answering systems. not very safe in case of emergencies!
Quiet. Staff were very supportive. Interesting historic property. Food (evening meal) not as good as expected..
A very special Chateau Hotel containing a wealth of clever design and art treasures. Wonderful stonework and woodwork incorporated in the very sympathetic restoration to retain original atmosphere. A very warm welcome and personal touches everywhere. Excellent security. Well located for UK ferries from/to Bilbao & Santander. Only having to leave so soon.
Usual quality and service at Paradores None
Excellent hotel, beautifull location well signposted off the main drag.Only problem there is nowhere in the village to eat and the restraunt is rather expensive.
Large, well appointed bedrooms and public rooms. Good food and value for money.
Good sized rooms, bed very comfortable, well equipped and everything works. Restaurant and bar both good, though food at the bar is rather limited. Nice outdoor pool, indoor pool and gym handy for wetter times! Great location for Bilbao/Guggenheim and beaches Not much alternative nearby to eating in hotel restaurant
Our room was large and comfortable. The cafeteria was friendly and had a reasonable selection of food and drink. The outdoor pool was fine The main restaurant was highly priced and the cooking was poor. It was difficult to get information about local events.
Return from Portugal to board the ferry at Santurtzi the following day. We knew what to expect, as this was our second visit.
The hotel is in an old building which has recently been renovated, the room we were allocated had a sloping roof and high windows but for not a lot extra we were offered a suite. Well worth the money, 4 poster bed, terrace and excellent bathroom. The renovation work is of the highest standard. Evening meal was good value for the set menu. A little isolated for the time of year, would be lovely in the summer.
Posada Los Gallos was extremely good. The room was decorated to an very high standard - the beds very comfortable and huge! The food was excellent and good value for money. The location was exellent for visiting nearby towns and beaches and also for travelling to/ from the airport or ferry port. A shower ( other than a hand held one) would have been a distinct advantage in our room. There was a jacuzzi which was great but not very pratical. Food being available before 9.15pm in the evening - I appreciate that Spanish meal times are later than normal but if they are accepting foreign visitors a little flexiblity would have been good. The only other slight issue was that nobody spoke any english. Again I appreciate "why should they"? but if accepting English speaking guests a smatttering of english would be an advantage to match our smattering of Spanish.
Muy tranquilo y silencioso. El personal muy amable -
they recommended the restaurant/cafe we used for supper - very Spanish & nice - PS we were only pasing through Laredo ! Non
Clean, well-run hotel. Good continental breakfast. Lovely stylish tiled bathroom. Warm and clean rooms. Good value. Second row back from beach. No sea view and room was a little on small size but would still recommend this hotel.
We just stayed for one night, it was ideal. Great location, close to the beach and restaurants. And lots of free parking in the street.
Lovely hotel with very pleasnt staff. We would like to go back there and and stay for longer. Hotel is really nicely designed and very well kept. One of the best if not the best hotel on our three week trip cycling through Spain and France.
Quiet location but only 2 mins from beach and 5 mins from the town centre . No lift - would have been easier with the luggage.
Room was acceptable but unnecessarily hot. Ridiculous window shutter system and flimsy curtains may be ideal for Spanish afternoon siestas, but not much use at night, given no air conditioning. We didn't like Laredo. The old part is lovely but very small and not much in it. The new part is like Clacton. Not somewhere we'll return to.
Huge room, nice staff, free parking along side and near to the beach but an easy walk to the town centre I booked at 50 euros for a single room, when I got there people just turning up got quoted 37,50. The lounge area is a bit shabby
I liked the staff best. Wasn't there for long, so can't say much about it. The hotel was good for the price and really near the very pleasant beach. The place reminded me of Worthing on the south coast of England where my parents retired to! Gentile but slightly gone to seed, nice and quiet, conservative. Very flat, Worthing. I'm sure it was a one-off but I didn't like the central heating being jammed on all night in my room. Slept in bed nearest the window with the window open, which was ok. I also didn't like the curtains being of such thin material. Felt I could be seen straight through them! The breakfast was all stuff in sealed cellophane packages ,even the croissant! Still, it was edible enough, and at that cheap price who should grumble?
Easy parking in quiet road. Near beach and town centre.Lovely balcony outside bedroom. Good for an overnight stay. Bathroom nicely fitted but very tight for space. A tiled pillar in centre of room and large door made getting in the bath/shower quite a challenge.
brand new facility with friendly staff, very cheap breakfast , modern rooms and pool. no mini bar installed yet. excellent hotel for pass-thru on a 2 day car journey thru spain.
A superb hotel in a lovely quiet location, Alejandro the manager is an absolute gem and made our stay very special, nothing was too much trouble. The location is quiet even in season, and as the hotel does not have a restaurant please be aware that the few local reataurants all keep Spanish opening hours.i.e.they don't open for dinner until 9.30 in the evening.
the hotel had only a few guests so was very quiet and we were looked after well. if there was lots of guests the rooms would be noisy as very little soundproofing & breakfast would be a little small.
The location and personal were very nice. The issue is not "did not like", but it would be nice to have more pillows available and more shower gel.
smell aroun the hotel (cows)
Excellent. friendly service of hotel manager Alexandro - he was extremely helpful, pleasant and nothing was too much trouble
Staff friendliness and welcome.
Staff were very friendly. Liked the fact that alongside continental breakfast you could order additional cups of coffee without additional charge.
Every aspect was excellent. None
Excellent welcome and very helpful staff (Alexandro) - Closed to beaches - Very clean - Good breakfast - Free parking The only weak point was the view from our room in front of the garage but anyway people are outside the hotel so, it doesn't really matter...
nice restored historical building. Excellent breakfast.Friendly staff. B and B feeling. No parking problems.Very interesting area to discover. In the village of Liendo thre is not much to do but Laredo and other interesting places are minutes driving away
The little Spa is just wonderful - it should just be cleaned more often. The staff was extremly nice and helpful and the hotel is lovely and quiet located - just perfect. Breakfast is very nice for the price. The hotel is an ancient house so we had to get used to the noises an old house makes (and some of the guestes).
very nice people who worked hard to bridge the language gap.
Very nice hotel and rooms decorated in typical old style with everything you need. Very romantic, quiet and great service giving us some good tips for food and a great beach. I would definately recommend it. The only thing missing would be a pool in the garden and perhaps a wider breakfast choice with some local delicacies.
Peace and quiet. The building and furnishings. Location (seaside;countryside&mountains).
Fantastic building to stay in, very quite location, however we where the only guests at the time, friendly staff bit difficult to find, due to poor directions and lack of signs
very friendly, place was full of charm
I like all about this Posada It is in the middle of nowhere. But I had car so it's not the problem.
Good location Spanish bad habit of not eating an evening meal before 9.00pm
We enjoyed the welcome and helpfulness of Mara Alfonso who was very helpful and made our stay very special in fact we returned three weeks later for a further night. The stay was very relaxing in a special place.
The peace and quiet with local facilities close by in Laredo. In this price bracket it was the best room we have had in any establishment. no complaints
very very difficult to find
The staff were very welcoming and cheerfull. The location is very good being near shops, restaurants and the beautiful beach. the breakfast, there is not as much choice as expected.
Beach, old sity of Loredo, restourans, etc, Very nice hotel and friendly staff, but they have produce air conditions in rooms!!!
Location and it was so different
Setting very good. Old nature of hotel but modernized. Friendly owner and staff Design of on-suite bathroom in eaves of house
Location, design of public rooms and garden, informality, nearness to stunning beaches but not far from autovia Our room could have done with some refurbishment: worn paintwork, broken bathroom fittings, bare light bulbs. Evening meal needs improvement: good value for money but more "assembled" than cooked; and tinned pineapple with cream from a can is not a proper dessert/postre in our opinion!
A delightful place to stay. Great ambiance and good food.
A beautiful location, with accommodation tastefully decorated and comfortable. Our one night stay in May was a pleasure. The owner, Maria, was most welcoming, and provided a lovely room for my my wife, myself and our two dogs. The evening meal and breakfast were excellent and the drive to the ferry at Santander a mere 30 minutes. NO.
Small hotel. helpful friendly staff. pleasant gardens. free parking. accept dogs for a charge. Lack of air conditioning, having to open windows to keep cool led to lots of mosquito bits. breakfast poor.
good value and clean. good location for traveling on to next destination
Staff friendy no
This hotel was fantastic value for money a great over night stop over. The hotel owner and his wife made us feel really welcome, a nice breakfast included in our price.
a good family run hotel, in pleasant surroundings.convenient for both ferries to UK
Very central location within 2 minutes walking distance of all shops, bars and restaurants.
Simple unsophisticated hotel set in a small rural village. Staff (and local restuarants) spanish speaking only but all very helpful. Rooms basic but comfortable beds and all very clean. Elderly locals carrying hoes and scythes etc to their garden plots, Alltogether charming and very good value and we will stay there again. 20 minutes from Santander and 45 from Bilbao Nothing to dislike unless you want local nightlife
Small typical Spanish hotel, good breakfast buffet. Lovely village with plenty of places to eat. Short distance to beatiful coast/beaches and other places of interest. No English as most small Northern holels but good interpretation of sign language.
