Comfy Beds, Clean Cooked breakfast wasn't very hot and our egg was undercooked and sausage was chewey. Good variety of breakfast but we think £7.99 was a bit expensive.
good value for money. Excellent staff
Warm welcome. Comfortable & clean room facilities. Good breakfast. Nothing
the staff made us very welcome and nothing was to much trouble !!! the room was excellent !!! the doule room could have done with another comfortable chair !!!
Comfortable, convenient and guarantee of good night's sleep.
Very helpfull receptionist, great value for money.
Good clean modern accomodation, enthusiastic, polite & informative staff both in accomodation block and also adjacent restaurant facilities.
The room was clean and comfortable and very good value for money. The adjoining restaurant was of a good standard and all the staff were very polite and helpful.
Excellent welcome offered to book us table for dinner when we arrived, offered us ironing equipment, booked us cabs during our stay.Iwill definatly stay there again when I go to visit family & will recommend it to other family members. The Farrier resturant was excellent not just for evening meal but breakfast was brilliant & the play area is great for the kids.Easy to find! None!
Very friendly staff, exceptional at reception.Well trained in Customer Relations None
the food lack of service due to the majority of the hotel taken over by a wedding, (on arrival the reception was set up as a disco) would like to of been informed of this prior to booking.
the staff very friendly and scenery beautiful food lovely i thought the drinks were a little bit expensive but overall all good
Lovely Location ' Well priced Hotel Service first night in Restaurant very poor ' did improve on the 2nd night ' maybe as it was different staff
Friendly staff, comfortable room. Good breakfast, good value
location and setting. appropriate music during dinner. service incredibly slow and inefficient. Plumbing in room in need of maintenance.
Reception manager first class ,lady working on the bar charming!,My daughter left her slippers behind they posted back free of charge! Creaky floors in room above, late breakfast start 8.00am!
Lovely setting and we thought the half board package that we paid for was good value for money. Although we were a bit disappointed with the breakfast. We had our dog with us and the male receptionist on duty made sure we had a room which gave us easy access outside and also gave us information on good walks round about. Also, the waitress in the dining room on the Sunday evening was very attentive and cheery! Nothing to complain about, will use this hotel again.
Location of the hotel was really lovely and the staff were very helpful Lots of noise from the weddings at the hotel which we not informed about when booking and the restaurant was filled with bugs & flies during dinner!
Relaxing break shower not good
The beautiful surroundings/countryside Bedroom was gloomy and not enough plug sockets and no TV remote control
The staff are very friendly and the room was okay. There was no heating in the bathroom. The water in the shower was very economical - it trickled out very slowly. The bed was very noisy. We had paid for full English Breakfast for the Sunday and were informed that it starts at 8 am. We were there for a business conference which started at 9 at the Pera Conference Centre and there were no members of staff any where near the breakfast area at 8. Breakfast was really very painful and we were late for our meeting. However, we are calm people and didn't complain but in future maybe they could be more organised for their guests.
Staff were very helpfull, very clean and relaxing hotel. We could not smoke in our room.
Clean and good value. Close to a fast main road, some rooms could be disturbed by traffic.
Simplicity with service, response and good clear communications It was a pity that we couldnt get a glass of wine from the Night Porter.
Staff were lovely Corridors were very smelly, pat testing had ran out on electrical appliances.
Excellent breakfast at a very reasonable price
The hotel was comfortable and clean, and the staff were friendly and accommodating to our requests during the weekend stay. A budget hotel certainly, but great value, benefitting from a rural location and blessed with a large, free car park. We slept well, and it was ideal for what we wanted.
We had recently returned from getting married to spend the night celebrating with friends, who were attending the Northern Soul Allnighter. As we had had a long journey from Rome to London, we were pleased that we did not have to do any further travelling. The hotel itself was very pleasant as we had booked the Bridal Suite. We did not expect the height of luxury, however, we did not expect the water supply to be so bad. It took over an hour to fill the bath a quarter of the way and eventually, gave up to have a shower instead. As keen recyclists, we were disappointed to have had to waste the water and feel that this should be pointed out to your guests beforehand.
The staff were very friendly and accomadating No
Upon arrival i was very impressed with the friendly welcome i received at the hotel reception. It is rare to see a family run hotel these days and i discovered during my stay that this establishment is family run and what a plesent stay i had! The personal touch they had really made a difference to my stay. This was my first visit to the Six Hills Hotel and i wil most definatly recommend it!
The staff were very good, food very good & super central location. It was warm in the room (below freezing outside). Very comfortable bed & bedding. We were in room 45, the Hayloft, it was seperate from the rest of the hotel (not a problem) but the low celings were. I have lumps on my head to prove it & I'm only 5ft 7ins. Our friends room in the mail building vas fine.
Beautiful hotel, lovely rooms Car park was too small
Very nice large room, good food in restaurant. Excellent location for town of Stamford. Radiator wasn't working properly - and it was bitterly cold. They did provide an electric fire. Bathroom very small, not much room to move around.
Good location for centre of Stamford - friendly helpful staff especially restaurant booking by web-site did not reveal room allocated was on top floor of town house - not suitable for unfit over 70's. Room was moved to hotel (room 4) but situated opposite to premises to disco that played loud music until early hours on both nights of our stay
The quality and attention to detail of the room furnishings and the general attitude and service provided.
Room was cold - no heating and window open. Wet shower meant that the bathroom was unusable after showering. Very small room. No space in dining room, had to eat in annex. Room access key expired before departure time.
Location, bar Smell of food in rooms in main part of hotel
central location, facilities in the hotel, room size and comfort, special discount rates
The bed was very comfortable and the food at the hotel was very good.
Our room was absolutely beautiful and extremely spacious. It was great value for money and very handy for Stamford centre. Our room was located in the Cottage, across the courtyard from the main building, the whole property is lovely and feels very secluded, and romantic. There was a wonderful breakfast provided in the morning and check out was a bit later than usual. We would definitely stay here again. The only downside of our lovely room was that our enormous king size bed was in fact 2 single beds pushed together which left a huge ridge running right down the middle of our bed. This made it very uncomfortable! Also as we were checking out we found a notice written in very small text on the back of our key packet that we were entitled to a complimentary round of drinks in the hotel bar on our first night in the hotel. No one had mentioned this to us or pointed it out which was a bit annoying as we had had a few drinks in the bar.
Excellent breakfast - all breakfast chefs should learn to cook to this quality Noise from kitchens early in the morning
Friendly, comfortable, ideal central location, wonderful singers/guitarists practising in the bar !
The ambiance was fantastic. The room was luxurious and quiet. The only drawback was the lack of an elevator. I would definitely recommend this hotel.
Helpful staff, delicious dinner, great ambience and central location. The room was in some respects not well maintained - in particular, the toilet seat was very loose.
Good position in the centre of town. Better breakfast than most hotels of a similar standard.
the bistro evening meals. excellent.. the bed was so hard i would have been more comfortable on the floor...room 101.also no hot water from sink tap until the bath tap was turned fully on for a few minutes.
spacious bedroom No lift
Welcoming and comfortable, relaxed environment.
comfort of the hotel and friendliness of the staff `noticed that the glass in the doors was dirty particularly the entrance to the restaurant, creating a scruffy impression, although the hotel was not scruffy!
The carefully and beautifully restored surroundings, the excellent breakfast, (I travel extensively and rate this aspect as quite the best I have experienced for years) and the obvious care for customers experienced from the moment we stepped through the door until the moment we left. No
Have stayed here twice and will place the hotel on my regular list of places to stay.Great value for money;superb atmosphere;ample free parking with friendly staff eager to help as required.Excellent meals and all round pleasing. Nothing
Room was nice, staff friendly, did not get to use many facilities but they appeared satisfactory. The quality of the breakfast could have been slightly better, meal was slightly under cooked.
very pleasant staff and good food room was a bit noisy due to people upstairs, would ask for different one next time
The food was excellent Bit cold getting from room to hotel resturant
Breakfast and dinner were excellent. Courtyard setting very relaxing. Slightly understaffed for dinner / evening bar.
Good location with some excellent views of Rutland Water in distance. Room was comfortable; well appointed bathroom; very comfortable double bed. Some staff a little indifferent; breakfast service was patchy; room make-up did not replace used items,
The food was excellent The bed was uncomfortable (room 37)
Room was large, comfortable and well-appointed. Location beautiful and peaceful. Breakfast very good Evening meal over-priced
We were upgraded to a manor room for our anniverasary which was a lovely gesture, friendly staff & a great breakfast. Gym & pool were great & not overcrowded. £30.20 for 2 pre dinner drinks (not champagne) is outrageous, as is £50 for a manicure.
very much indeed. the staff where very atentive and the setting realy is special the Table de ote menu was fixed price at £46, 50% 0f the items on each course carried a suppliment of up to £9.50p this is unacceptable4
I realy like it ! Its all worth it !
This hotel is highly overated. The food was very average and the breakfast was very poorly organised. Cold plates and not enough food on the hot buffet. They bought fried eggs out after we had finished eating.Bathrooms need updating -very poor shower. All this for 210.00 a night!
The building Internet did not work, not allowed to use the pool as aerobics session in place ( two hours prior to checkout ) , very stuffy room that needed airing, steam room very dangerous ( but had warning signs )
Hotel staff were excellent and couldn't do enough to make our stay an excellent one. Facilities and equipment were really good and catered for young children especially well. The room and hotel in general were spotless. Active hotels booking procedure did not make it clear that the room I booked was not suitable for an extra bed for a child until after the booking was made. That being said the hotel staff resolved this issue in advance of arrival. The lights and the flush on the toilet in our room were a bit temperamental.
The bar area was pleasant - as were the staff. Did not dine here, but breakfast was pretty good, though not exceptional. The room was very tired and badly furnished - though the beds were ok. Our room was not fully en-suite. There was a small sink and a badly functioning shower. (Although friends also staying had full en suite facilities) The toilet - which was very old and a litytle grubby was across the corridor and we were not made aware of this at time of booking. Carpet was cheap and grubby.
Located in a charming village where there are some walks in nice countryside Room was small with minimal furnishing. Bathroom also small with utalitarian fittings. Room on ground floor next to gravel road to car park so some traffic noise. Overall the price of room very excessive considering quality of accommodation
Friendly staff and ambience Uneven surface in the corridor; romm a little cramped and the bed decidedly hard
Friendly and full of character. Great cask ales and good food.
the food was not of a good standard and generally the place needed a good clean on the surface it looked good but was not
Friendly atmosphe. Good food esp breakfast.
Bar and dining area very pleasant. Cooked breakfast was ok. Plenty of parking area. Stayed here several years ago and experienced a very enjoyable experience with the then hosts. On arrival the staff member at reception had great difficulty raising a smile and made not the slightest effort to make us feel welcome.Only on arrival were we informed there was no toilet in the room--it was across the corridor and turned out to be very tired looking and dated. The receptionist then asked if not having a toilet in the room was a problem. We made it clear that we had anticipated en-suite facilities and asked if there was an alternative room.We were told quite bluntly that there wasn'T.For the price we expected en-suite facilities. We were given no info.as to what time breakfast was served or where it was served---we had to ask. The shower was very small and difficult to access. The sink was miniscule. When arriving at 07.30 for breakfast(served 7.00 till 09.00)there was no-one around. We helped ourselves to cereal and juice and waited patiently. At 7.45 after going to look for any signs of movement to progress our breakfast the same member of staff from the previous evening finally appeared. There was no greeting and no apology for not being present earlier. Whilst eating our cooked breakfast there was loud swearing between staff in the kitchen who appeared oblivious to the fact that we could hear them from where we were seated in the dining area.
Nice location, good breakfast. Lack of routine maintenance let the room down - shower was not working properly, shower door broken, wardrobe door broken. Room decor and furniture old and tired.
We did not stay as on seeing the room it was not as described online and did not have a toilet in the room. The manager was very understanding and said she would not charge us for the room and we left to go home. The online description is totally misleading and the hotel is nothing like the photos.
The comfort & conveniece of the room, the good food & the friendliness & helpfulness of the staff.
A very friendly hotel. Lovely surroundings, great character and very clean If there was a downside it had to be the dresscode of the staff in the restaurant. The wearing of jeans by waiting staff was not befitting to the environment but more than made up for by the friendliness of the staff and would not put me off going there again.
Very impressed. Excellent room, very high standard. Nice bar, excellent food. Relaxed atmosphere.
Helpful staff - a good meal and pleasant location. Bar area very comfortable and inviting. Good food at a very reasonable price. Lovely setting and enjoyed breakfast in the conservatory. Two out of three lights in bathroom not working.(one ceiling and one above basin) Advertised free internet - no connection,(checked with staff, who then had to phone someone to find out, only to be told that it needed something or other that we already had) and it still didn't work, which was then confirmed by another diner, whom I had overheard, who was also irritated. It had been a major reason for choosing this location. Unable to remove the plug from the bath! The internet booking reservation that had been made was not in the diary. Because of location, curtains had to be drawn all the time to keep any sort of privacy. Nless curtains were drawn (in daylight) completely exposed to the world!
A very comfortable, relaxing environment. Excellent food. Great service.
food at dinner and breakfast was excellent wet room rather impractical as floor completely wet after shower and took a long tome to drain away
staff food friendliness
Lovely relaxed atmosphere...... especially after busy day working... made us unwind quickly.
Good, pretty location. Lovely, comfy rooms. Had a good evening meal in the restaurant and enjoyed the pub. Breakfast was great too. All very cosy. The nearby church tolled each hour through the night, therefore I wouldn't recommend this to anyone who is a light sleeper. But this really is the only criticism of what was otherwise a lovely stay in a pretty part of Lincs.
Pleasant location Menu and food were very good A lot of the staff were not friendly or welcoming There were three errors on my restaurant bill There was a shower screen which was not fit for purpose which culminated in the bathroom floor and everything else getting a soaking.
nice pool/ gymn. very good supper. good, charming, helpful service. absolutely no noise insulation. was woken many times by people passing outside the door. heard every intimate detail of the man in the room above's night-time visit to the toilet. very poor night's sleep
Used the gym & the pool, also dined in the evening at the main resturant & bar. The resturant staff were very slow, we waited over half an hour for drinks and had to ask twice for them as the first waiter had forgotten.
service was slow the rooms had not got any internal information in them. the bar prices were very high in the function room, lower in the main bar, why! and a £5.00 charge for room service at 19.00 was a bit steep as the kitchen was open. it was very comfortable
I thought our room was really lovely. The bed was huge and the bathroom was a very high standard. We had a very good night sleep indeed. The carvery lunch was below par, especially for the price of £22 per head.
Gym and Spa facilities. Breakfast service and speed. Check in staff not engaged and poorly trained. Unimpressed by the canteen style carvery for evening dinner. As said by other reviewers the length my room was away from the bar, restaurant, leisure club.
Concierge was very helpful and obliging-facilities appeared to be excellent but we had no time on this visit to use them
The Staff were good, and the views and surrounding area very good indeed. Our double bed was very uncomfortable as the mattress needed being replaced as it had collapsed in the middle. That's very poor for a DE Vere hotel!
Nice large room, decent beds. Room slightly tired in places.
relaxed atmosphere.luxurious surroundings.restaurant and bar staff extremely professional and helpful.nothing was too much trouble.
The leisure facilities, were very good. An excellent gym with machines and free weights, Squash ,Swimming etc. The restaurant served quality food, and the staff were very helpful and friendly. The only minor point is it is a large hotel and it can be a hike to your room! But then the facilities are on a larger scale. So it's swings and round -a-bouts.
The facilities were great and the staff welcoming. Room was clean and well cleaned. Breakfast buffet was outstanding - consistently good and well stocked, again with attentive staff.
The staff were very friendly. And the facilities were very relaxing .
The king size bed was very comfortable, and the pillows were soft. Reception staff unwelcoming; pool/spa facilities cramped (web page has a misleading picture); breakfast was a shambles because staffing level inadequate for number of guests (no table ready, then chairs missing - had to rectify this ourselves. Self-serve food was old, cold and looked very unappetising. Restaurant manager over-ruled a waiter who wanted to provide us with fresh plates of food by insisting we use the awful self-serve bar)
Beautiful bed and great service. N/A
It was in a location that was central for exploring that part of the U.K. Did not find the staff approachable or positive.
the draft drinks in the bar were awful. and there are no fridges in the
The bedroom was great. The bed was huge and very comfy. The food was good, and the staff was very welcoming. The general atmosphere was very nice.
The pool and leisure facilities Our room was very near to the pool house and the pump room was rather noisy
Welcoming and friendly staff. Swimming pool very nice (and warm)
Very, very comfy beds and rooms. Reception and bar staff were very friendly. We didn't notice a lift!! No drinks in the rooms! We do like a night-cap.
Easy parking. The room was extrememly dusty, the waste bin had not been emptied from the previous guests. The expelair in the bathroom did not work. There were holes in the duvet cover. The room we booked was supposed to be 'Superior', but we were allocated a standard room. The cost on your site was the same for both types of room so we could do nothing about it. Also, the cleaner knocked to clean our room at 930am when we weren't mean to leave until midday!
This location was chosen for a relaxing and friendly hosted break that was not too far from the main travel routes. It was perfect for us. There was a cold snap during our stay and what better way to end the day out by copious cups of tea around a roaring fire. The Manor itself was in itself quite special and with the many antiquities about the place, very, very interesting. Leo was an excellent host and deserves praise for hard work and ability to look after his guests. Would we return? Without a doubt! Nothing to complain about!
My partner and I stayed one night in the Lord's Room at Allington Manor (as we were eating at the nearby Harry's Place, which it is perfectly located for). For only £85 on a Friday, we were presented with a stunning manor house, like a mini stately home with suits of armour - even in the terrential downpour we arrived in the place looked stunning. The village looked like it might be nice as well had we been there in non tsunami-like conditions (the pub looked particularly appealing!) The bedroom was luxurious and relaxing, and the breakfast was lovely, especially the freshly baked bread. The service at all times was impeccable, from booking us a taxi to opening the door for us at midnight! Thoroughly recommended for a romantic night away. Absolutely nothing, the only thing we could have wished for given the weather was perhaps a board game to keep us amused in the drawing room!
the bed & the bath & the personal service nothing
Very Nice bedroom Interesting building Friendly staff (only saw one person) Reception when arrive is very unclear and confusing No lock on bedroom door Very small tv with poor picture quality for what was called a luxury room
Fabulous manor house, crammed with beautiful things. Lovely roll top bath in the bedroom. We were made most welcome and Leo’s freshly baked bread at breakfast was gorgeous. An absolute delight.
Quality of surroundings and personal attention small bathroom
Convenient location, close to town centre but a few minutes from countryside. Restaurant was quiet whilst we were there, but food excellent. Breakfast was good, could have done with some more tasty sausages, as Melton sees itself as a regional food centre, though they were pleasant enough. We would certainly stay again when in the area. The bed was a bit narrow and too soft for our taste.
The meals, breakfast and diner, were good, well presented and served. The menu was limited but gave enough choice. Limited wine list and no draught beer!
Friendliness of staff , polite and helpful. Cleanliness of roomwhich was very comfortable Considered my dinner to be very poor , although my husbands Indian meal was good.
All round I was very pleased with my stay and I will use them again in the future if the need arises
Spacious, well-appointed room, very good food - both Indian and a la carte, friendly and helpful staff, ample car parking, convenient for town centre, lovely firm mattress just like at home Wine list adequate but would have liked a liitle more variety
Friendly and helpful staff, nice food, very comfortable and spacious room, excellent price. No. I would definitely stay there again at this rate.
nice bedroom with four poster bed .free internet was good as most hotels charge for this
rear of hotel has no security lighting or CCTV covering area and my car was robbed during the night
The lady dealing with us at breakfast also dealt with everyone else and had to check us out. Although she did very well and was very efficient, I didn't help by messing up the card machine by taking out my card prematurely, the reason for my slight complaint is that in her efforts to keep everyone happy it was a feeling of being rushed when checking out almost to the point of feeling a little guilty for asking to check out whilst realising her busy situation. The one night stay was satisfactory although the temperature in my room was quite low and the shower pressure also low. Thankyou.
Friendly and helpful staff bathroom floor dirty and carpet covered in bits.Paintwork extremely grubby
Staff very ready to help, always friendly, food very good. Lovely location.
A friendly little hotel with good facilities, in a nice village. No
Comfortable, friendly and welcoming. Lovely peaceful countryside location. This was ideal for an overnight stay whilst attending a wedding. Could happily have stayed longer. Great breakfast upon departure.
Friendly Staff Price was a little high compared to some others I used during my trip.
Good location for a trip to Oakham and Rutland. Could do with a bit of a clean - there were cobwebs everywhere. Room was cold, and the small portable radiator provided didn't do much to warm it up.
nice and quiet
Excellent food and service None
The food was outstanding. The bed was never made for us. The towels were not changed during our three night stay. The walls were made of cardboard, very noisey! We stayed in room triple b for three nights, the first two nights were quiet, on the 3rd night we must have had a couple of male drunk fishermen in the next room. At approx. midnight, they came into their room next door to us and just did not stop talking and crashing about. It wasn't until about approx. 2 am they finally went to sleep and then the snoring kicked in!! At 6 am they had 2 mobile phones ringing to wake them up and us!! At 7 am they left the room and we had peace at last!!!! If we had had proper brick built walls maybe we would not have heard all of this. Many thanks.
The breakfast was good and the waitress eager to please The shower was the worst i have ever used . unable to control the temperature, useful sign stating that as well !!!
Very clean freindly and helpful if traveling down to Melton would stop there again
Friendly staff, excellent breakfast Very steep staircase to second floor
Very old fashioned
Service was excellent and helpful; we were above a bar (very convenient) but were not kept awake by noise; there was an excellent Thia restaurant across the road; the breakfast room / restaurant was really nice; lots of parking behind hotel. The hotel rooms were a bit tired and could do with sprucing up
Friendly service. Quiet. Very good dinner and breakfast No
Pleasant and accommodating staff Price of the evening meal for the main course not value for money
The dining room [dated 1604] and the quality of the food. We felt it was too quiet because of lack of visitors due to weather, floods etc.
hotel was quiet, with a comfortable feel and the atmosphere was very plesent
Great personal service from owner and staff
Nice breakfast and very good location for rutland water.
Reception staff very helpful Cost of breakfast very poor value for money. Could not accept American Express.
As we only stayed one night it is hard to really comment.
Welcoming, clean and comfortable, lovely old room. A background noise, like a fan, not the en-suite, that ran all the time. it was only noticeable at quiet times, but spoiled a perfect room a little.
The friendly and informal atmosphere and the food was amazingly good. car park a bit on the small side, tv in room outdated, bathroom needed updating
