A nice place for the price. Free breakfast was good and the room was nice and clean even though the building seemed old. The staff were exceptionally nice and very helpful.
Overall my stay in Columbia, SC was great however my second night at LA Quinta Inn and Suites was questionable. They say they are pet friendly but if your dog starts barking because people walk past the room while you're gone. It would be nice if the front desk has a major problem with it to contact you. Instead, they go into your room and lock your pet in their kennel. Now your pet is without water and food. If people who are staying have a problem with a barking dog then maybe they need to rethink their hotel options like non-pet friendly Inn's or hotels.
The room was great! Plenty of room to move around, the bed was so comfortable my wife wanted to take it home! But it was the staff that made the visit! They were some of the kindess, most helpful people I have met in a long time! Anything you needed they were there to help! I would stay here any time I'm in town!
The staff was friendly and courteous. The hotel is pet friendly and does not charge extra for it as others do. Nice breakfast area with hot and cold choices. We would stay here again. Very close to interstate, very convenient to other areas and shopping if needed.
the hotel was excelent and easy to find the service always on time and the personel always care for the service
We've stayed in several La Quinta hotels, but found this one to be below the average quality. The neighborhood also seemed a little sketchy. This would not be my first choice for my next stay in Columbia.
An early example of the La Quinta hotel chain. It is kept nice and clean by some of the friendliest staff I have encountered. If your visiting Ft Jackson as I was it's location is quite convient to gate 4 and Hilton Field.
This hotel is seriously misled online. We booked a room for the week Bc the reviews were pretty good and the pictures were nice. It was ghetto inside and out. The elevator was gross and lobby was way tiny and out room was not only small and cheap looking but had poorly plastered holes in the wall. Service people were talking to each other loudly and did not greet us. We had to cancel and went to the Holliday inn off of 77 and two notch and that was very nice hotel. The price was the same too The manger on duty or desk person was very helpful canceling.
I was very happy with this hotel. Clean safe comfortable.
Was pleased with the staff and location of hotel. Was visiting my boyfriend at Fort Jackson and it was very easy to get there by cab. Thought the room looked very nice and loved the TV. Was going to give an excellent review until I saw 2 roaches my last night there. Was mortified and will never stay at a La Quinta again.
I visited Columbia unexpectedly. Searched for hotels just HOURS prior to arriving. I was looking for a clean, quiet, and inexpensive hotel to stay in for 2 nights. I always read reviews before booking any hotel. This particular hotel had really good reviews and was very inexpensive. When I called the guy who answered the phone was very helpful in giving me rate information. When I arrived a few hours later, there was a security guard at the door which made me feel like the hotel actually cared about their customer's safety to even consider hiring a security guard. Once I checked in and unloaded my car I made my way to my room. After checking around the room everything seemed fine. It was only when I prepared to shower that I realized the drain was backed up. I called the front desk to report the problem and they informed me that they were unable to fix the problem that night (it was quite late) and that I could be given another room. This was a minor inconvenience as I had to pack back up in order to move. Had it not been for the drain issue, I would have given the hotel a 5 for the review. After packing up i returned to the front desk and was given a new set of keys to a new room. Just as in the 1st room it was clean, quiet, and fine. I made sure to check the shower drain and it too worked great. I stayed in this room for 2 nights with no complaints. The breakfast that was served was really good and the young lady they had assisting in the eating area was extremely helpful as well. I plan on making another trip to Columbia in about 4 weeks and I will be staying here again.
Good for the price, not fantacy but was nice for the one night stay as we headed east. Good places to eat close by and a car wash.
The staff were exceptional in their friendliness. The service was good. And the continental breakfast was tasty and also plentiful. The room was spacious and clean.
It was awesome, loved the room, just smelt smokey but it's all good.
Very clean, nice accomodations. Superb service and facilities. Continental breakfast with hot waffles. No WIFI...this was very disappointing. I really needed WIFI and they couldn't get it up even though they tried.
Clean, updated, nice people. The breakfast was continental. Hot waffles, boiled eggs, cereal, muffins, yogurt, etc. WIFI was a problem. I stayed two nights and never was able to access the internet. Host even gave me a special access device and a phone # to call for help. The call simply was too long and after half and hour with no net access I ended the call...I had other stuff to do. WIFI is their achilles heal...if it is important to you. I'm sure you can find it at a McDonalds. I wanted to update my friends on my travel and e-mail some associates but simply couldn't. WIFI is important to me. Important enough that I may find another place when coming back to Columbia. The price they charge should do better on the internet connection. Other wise I give this place an A+.
worst hotel we have stayed in in many yrs... It was filthy nasty, took them 2 out of the three days we were there to clean the room,, .. for the three days we were there they cleaned the room by just making the bed. and replacing the towels..No other cleaning was done, I would never book another stay with La Quinta again.. For all the headaches and filth we slept in for two days , they offered us a free night stay, at any La Quinta inn.
We were running late, and called to verify the rooms would be held. When we arrived, they had our paperwork ready and waiting. However, one of the cards did not work on the door for the room. When we got in the room, the window was open. But this did not help the smoke smell in the room. There were holes and cigerette burns in the carpet, and holes in the blankets on all the beds. There was mold on the shower curtain. The shower head was broken. A train rolled by early in the morning. One of our rooms was near the elevator, and could hear every sound from that in the room all night long. The other room must have been near the laundry room, we heard the dryer in our room. We were too afraid to try the breakfast. There are plenty of hotels near this one. No reason to stay here. We will never stay at a La Quinta again.
The only thing going for this hotel is that it is pet friendly. That having been said, my room was a dump. It was a smoking room, as I am a smoker, and the carpet, furniture, etc., was littered with cigarette burns. The carpet was stained with what was obviously pet stains. You had to jiggle the tub water spigot to get the water to turn on, the selections on the TV were terrible, unless you love at least 4 ESPN channels. I don't know if they were redoing the room next to me, but I was awoken at 6:00 by lots of banging and noise two of the days I was there. The staff was very friendly, that was the best thing about it. Location wise, it was near where I needed to be. My parents live in Columbia and wanted me to bring my Shih Tzu Sammy with me to celebrate the New Year. Something in the room even made him sick to his tummy! Oh and I did clean up his mess, something that obviously was not done by previous tenants or the hotel. Never again.
This hotel was dirty in the public areas and rooms. Everything was worn, multiple stains on carpets and bedding. Suites are over-sized rooms with a loveseat. Found hairs in the bedding that belonged to previous occupants or housekeeping. Should have listened to our dog who tried to tell us to not stay. Very little green space for walking pets. Vehicle broken into, although we appreciate security letting us know when they found it rather than waiting for us to find in the a.m.
This hotel is pet friendly - the best thing I can say about it. It is old and looks it. Cigarette bruns in the carpet, cracked tiles in the bathroom, old beat up furniture. We did not feel safe. When we were checking out, there were 2 seedy looking guys sitting in the parking lot by our car drinking beer (early in the AM). We mentioned it to the staff and they laughed. We will not return.
My first stay at La Quinta. Older, but clean. They did charge me extra for late check out, although they had OK'd it the night before when I arrived after midnight after a long and delayed flight. If I had known there would be extra charges, I would have just checked out earlier.
First, the toilet ran for about ten minutes after flushing it. Pool dirty and hot. Tiles missing from bathroom floor. Breakfast ends too early. 1st floor being renovated. Smells like mold. Staff polite and surely show southern hospitality. Thank God for that.
The staff here was very pleasant and friendly. After that, it's was all down hill. Not sure what was going on in the hotel. We were first put next door to an area where it appears the whole ceiling had caved in and the horrible smell of mold was everywhere. Then we were put on the second floor where the smell continued. Not sure if construction was underway or not-----if I had known this, we would have picked another hotel.
Hotel had good access to interstate. We had to change rooms the first day because the room door would not lock. One day we did not have hot water and another day we had to have our door card recoded (we couldn't get in the room). Bathroom floor needed to be repaired, it had loose tiles. An other day the bathroom light did not come on (it is hard to shower in the dark). We will not stay there the next time!
