Pros: Amazing location and unique property
Pros: We really loved our stay in this Chateau - it is definitely a life experience and worth every penny! The room was beautifully and authentically decorated, everything was very clean and the food was fantastic! Not much to say - we enjoyed it a lot and would recommend to everyone who still might have some doubts..;)
Cons: Everything was perfect ;) If I could only think about something, this would be the hotel price, which was a bit beyond our initial budget. However, spending a night at this fantastic location made my partner and myself confident that we made the right choice.
Pros: Location Staying in a real castle View Special atmosphere
Cons: No air conditioning Usually no need for one but it was hot that night
Pros: We stayed for one in this magic castle after our trip in George du Verdon. It was fantastic to feel yourself a part of this powerful beauty. The mountains , the canyon, the castle. Astonishing emotions that make you tremble with excitement. The children were also very excited with this castle adventure.
Pros: There is a great terrace on the roof. Amazing experience to stay at an old chalet like this.
Cons: There were bed bugs. I counted 34 bites after spending 1 night there. We couldn't find the right way to the chalet by car. it’s better to focus on signs “chalet”
Pros: Chateau de Trigance is an amazing experience, food is good, staff is friendly, location is spot on, the room is big and comfy, good selection of provencal wines. It is an amazing feeling staying in a castle such as this. It exceeded our expectation on all parameters. And oh, the view on the top terrace - where you good enjoy your breakfast or an afternoon drink - is to die for.
Cons: Going into to extreme esthetic details, they have some flags on the top of the castle towers, which are not real flags but sort of metal plates - it might be cool with real flags... minor detail indeed...
Pros: Great breakfast.
Pros: Amazing views. Large hotel room. Lovely staff. Good breakfast and great dinner! The location is isolated and quiet, kind of unique and beautiful.
Cons: Bugs. Some people won't mind this at all but for us, lots of flies and colorful critters in the room, and at dinner, was very discomforting. This is the only reason why our "comfort" rating is so low. We couldn't wait for morning to come.
Pros: We loved the the location , the views were spectacular , loved the dinners and it was so peaceful and serene.
Pros: The evening meal and breakfast was good.
Cons: It was very hot when we stayed there and there was no air conditioning so the room was hot. There was not proper fly wire on the windows so if they were open the flies came in.
Boasting a garden, La Fontaine offers accommodation in Bargème with free WiFi and garden views. Guests wishing to travel light can make use of towels and bed linen for an extra charge. Guests at the bed and breakfast can enjoy a continental breakfast. A sun terrace is available for guests to use at La Fontaine. The nearest airport is Nice Côte d'Azur Airport, 80 km from the accommodation.
Pros: It has been a great pleasure to stay some days at this wonderful place and having enjoyed the lodging. The freshly prepared breakfast, served on the sun trap terrace was one of the highlight each day. Thanks again that we could be a part of the village! à bientôt!
Pros: Simply stunning place to stay Views amazing Tranquil and magical Restaurant nearby was closing as we arrived late in the evening, but they stayed on and served us an incredible meal Would stay there again
Pros: Very nice small village, friendly owner and great breakfast.
Pros: A superbly cordial greeting from Hugues, who answered all questions fully. The setting is a dreamworld of a tiny all-in-period (medieval)-stonework village situated high above the surrounding lush landscape. A painter, I could have stayed here for many a day and not lack inspiration. Nicely off the well-beaten track of mass tourism, so no kitsch and no tour buses to mar the escapist effect.
Cons: I wish I could have stayed longer!
Pros: Supremely friendly greeting by Hugues and Raischa (his whippet) sustained throughout our 2-night stay. An "as advertised" village - Bargeme - which has been classed among the "100 Most Beautiful Villages in France",, for which there is intense and worthy competition. The entire village - about 140 - is very welcoming and helpful. The medieval architecture and surrounding scenery with the lowlands far below and surrounding the butte upon which Bargeme sits, with mountains in the background, evoke an "otherwordly" dreamland landscape,
Cons: The village lacks even a convenience store, but if that wee bit of commercialism would detract from its time period charms, it's worth driving a mere 5-6 km to a nearby larger village.
Pros: Everything about this place was amazing. Bargème is a beautiful unique small town and the owner of the place was the friendliest. The 2 only restaurants in the town were closed the night we stayed so he offered to take us to the nearest town so we could have dinner! He didn't have to but he booked the place for us (a very cozy and good quality price restaurant) and took us with his car there. We called him when we were done and he came and pick us up again. He even took a detour so we could see some wild animals on the way back! He was so nice, we are eternally grateful for his help! Breakfast was fresh and was served at the terrace in front of the room, very cozy! Small but cute bedroom with great views of the valley and nice bathroom. Wifi was good. Perfect place for a getaway in a beautiful town with great views and a castle and the nicest host :)
Pros: This is a fascinating place - family run bad and breakfast in a house attached to an old castle with a beautiful view. The room was small, but a very comfortable bathroom with surprisingly spacious shower. Don't expect hotel style comfort, but a very unique experience of staying comfortably in a small hilltop village right next to well preserved ruins of the very old castle. Beauty of the place and of the views pays off all possible secondary shortcomings. The host was very kind. He tried to meet all our requests. All together, it was a better experience than four star hotel.
Cons: Actually, this could be considered an additional attraction, but could cause problems. The village of Bargeme is out of the beaten track. It is not easy to find the place without GPS. It is better to arrive before sunset. You drive on a very narrow winding road. If you are not comfortable to drive on the last, unpaved part of the road, you can park your car at the long, narrow parking lot right after light signal regulating the one way passage. Then you have to climb stairs going up about 50 meters directly to La Fontaine. Alternatively, you can drive further on the unpaved narrow road all the way to La Fontaine. Before you approach the castle and village, near a chapel, choose the right way at the fork (left goes directly to the castle) and after about 100 meters you will see first houses. The first house on the left (this with a small fountain) is La Fontaine.
Located in La Bastide, Le Bois Faé is within a 15-minute drive of Verdon Regional Natural Park and Regional Natural Park of the French Alps. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Well appointed and artfully decorated room. Wash basin in the room which allows for two people to use en-suite facilities separately. Comfortable bed. Located in the foothills of a hill, in a picturesque area. Will make a good base for local hikes and exploring nature.
Cons: The room was cold despite the heater being set on maximum setting. The wind draft protection was poor. Can certainly do with improvements in this area plus triple glazing on the door and windows. The breakfast only comprised of two kinds of bread, jam, butter, tea and orange juice (not fresh). I had to buy my own eggs from Castellane for being boiled. The ceiling is quite low and people above 185 - 190 cm in height may struggle with it. Not easily accessible without a car and nearest amenities are at least 10 minutes drive away. 30 minutes drive to Castellane.
Pros: The location is really awesome. There was full moon that night and lots of fog because of the rein. Looked simply magical. Cats are also ready to be there for you 24/7.
Cons: It's hard to write such things as they might harm the business, but as a small business owner myself I know that small improvements have huge impacts on quality most of the time. Soooo: 1. This B&B was the most expensive and least worth it from four we went trough in our week long trip to Provence. Definitely not worth the price. 2. Breakfast is below acceptable level and having in mind that for non-southerners their breakfast looks like extra light snack - it was really bad. Coffee was served in a thermos. I'm not a food expert, but I can at least tell when bread and cake being served are a day or two old. One piece of butter. I understand that lots of food expectations when we speak France come from movies etc. but if you don't serve a croissant right from the oven, you must at least be decent enough to not serve old sweets or buns in plastic bags. 3. The room was quite comfy but the low ceiling makes it feel claustrophobic. Also there are lot's of small "spirituality" thingies like candles, but there were no matches. Probably because you're not allowed use open fire inside the room. Not sure. 4. What you're really not allowed to use (since it's marked PRIVATE) is a children play zone in the yard (with a slide, trampoline, bikes, cars etc.). It is understandable that host family wants to have something for themselves, but if you have business and invite people with children to stay at your place, me and my wife couldn't understand how would we explain our three year old son, that he's not allowed into the area where children of the host's are playing. Probably they'd allow children of their guests in there, I'm not sure, but then why the warning about privacy - it makes the guests feel not welcome. 5. It looked like the hostess was trying to avoid us the whole time of the stay.
Pros: A very friendly host and a beautiful and spaceful room in a quite and serene location. Kitchen available outside with all equipment needed.
Pros: A really nice family run b&b. I would definitely recommend it if you're traveling in the area.
Pros: It is a very nice family country house where you can rent a private room at ground floor with its own entrance and shower. All furniture is made of wood and a sink is marble made, which makes you really feel being in country side. Everything was very clean and the host lady was super nice and friendly. They have two pretty cats you can play with. The location is quite close to mountains and therefore the weather is very fresh there, was very pleasant to sleep.
Cons: As it is a country house close to the real fields and animal, there is an enormous amount of flies outside. We were very careful not to let them in to the room itself, but they are ridiculously disturbing during the breakfast. Also the breakfast itself is always the same food everyday although fresh (French breakfast).
With a stay at L'Unicorne Bed & Yoga in Comps-sur-Artuby, you'll be within a 15-minute drive of Gorges du Verdon and Verdon Regional Natural Park.
Pros: Charming owners who are really interesting people. Delightful room (benefits from the hostess' background in interior design), comfortable, clean and completely different from packaged hotels. The location, just before the Gorges du Verdon, is perfect for tourism. Breakfast was sumptuous and had a personal touch. If you like yoga, the owners are experts and offer sessions or courses.
Pros: Loved doing Yoga in the morning followed by a delicious breakfast in our private little garden. Our room was decorated with a lot of taste and originality.
Pros: Nice interior, great style. Really nice hosts! The recommendation of the restaurants "Les jardin de begeme" and "restaurant du lachens a la badtide" Both had good prizes and awsome food. The second one even has a big cheese plate!!
Pros: The place is really idyllic and cosy with a special rustic atmosphere. Maybe that's why we slept so well. Loved the breakfast in the garden and tasty local yogurt.
Pros: The hosts were very welcoming and provided us with breakfast. It was a wonderful bed and breakfast in the French mountains. We were 3 adults with our own beds. There is a small patio area where u can eat or enjoy the views. There was a refrigerator outside the room which they allowed us to use.
Pros: Alexandra and Christophe are so helpful and warmly Beautiful place Great regional breakfast Rooms are furnished in style
Pros: Allesandra and Jean-Christophe made our vacation lovely, with their warm hosting, beautiful place, good breakfast and of course the gorgeous Yoga classes:)
Pros: Location, the owners / hosts
Located in Trigance, Le Vieil Amandier is in a rural location, within a 15-minute drive of Verdon Regional Natural Park and Gorges du Verdon. The front desk is staffed during limited hours. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: We loved this little hotel - especially as our room had its own private area next to the swimming pool and the manager and other staff could not have been friendlier or more helpful. It is just a few minutes walk to the centre of Trigance which is a beautiful hilltop village. There was an excellent breakfast in a shaded patio area.
Pros: Comfortable specially the terrace and the swimming pool
Cons: The shower didn’t work as it should
Pros: We are travelling around Europe for 6 weeks and this is the best place we have stayed at. The town, views, hospitality, and breakfast were amazing. It is not every day you get to have dinner in a castle.
Cons: Everything was perfect.
Pros: Very quiet, friendly staff, good breakfast
Pros: Amazing place, very welcoming, nice view, great pool. It's quiet, nice and you feel like home.
Pros: This is a wonderful place. The hotel is very well kept, I felt very welcome. It is clean, comfortable, quiet, in the most lovely village, and breakfast is amazing. I am nostalgic just to think about it !
Pros: The kindness of Cécile and the delicious breakfasts.
Cons: The noice of the ventilator in the bathroom. Very loud.
Pros: location, breakfast, kindness of employees
Cons: wifi not available in the rooms
Pros: Beautiful location. Gorgeous hotel. Staff were very welcoming and so helpful
Pros: Breakfast was the best I ever had in french accomodations (including tasty Salami and jambon), a nice selection of marmelade, regional honey, scrambled egg, fruit salad, juice, ... The lady from the personal was very friendly and helpful and gave us also tips for planung our days (hiking, canoeing). She also organized us a taxi to drive us to the start point of the Blanc Martel hiking tour (shared group Taxi for a shared price). Nice outside area for breakfast. Nice pool. Great view. Very close to village.
Cons: Rooms were a little small but OK for 4 nights. No fresh (bakery made) bread at breakfast. No fresh fruits apart from (very tasty) apricots on two days. (Please note that we were however very satisfied with the breakfast - see "What I liked")
With a stay at Grand Hôtel Bain in Comps-sur-Artuby, you'll be in a regional park, within a 15-minute drive of Gorges du Verdon and Verdon Regional Natural Park. Featured amenities include a 24-hour front desk and multilingual staff. Self parking (subject to charges) is available onsite.
Pros: Stayed in a family room. Facilities were as expected for a 2 star hotel. However, the restaurant at the hotel was superb. Top notch cuisine, very nice menu, heavy on game dishes, yum. The hotel is situated in a perfect starting position to view the Gorge from the south side.
Cons: Basic facilities as expected. Could have been a little cleaner. However, reasonably priced for a family room.
Cons: Breakfast would be nicer if ir started earlier and access to the bar later in the evening... but I totally understand that ir was a quiet time and the hotel and people were great. Thanks very much.
Pros: The restaurant was very good, the staff was really nice. Parking place for motorcycle was important.
Cons: Slightly older hotel needs a refreshment.
Pros: Very nice old small family hotel with great cuisine. Even old, hotel was really clean, comfortable and personnel very nice.
Cons: The food in the restaurant was horrible. We ordered entrecote with vegetables as a sidedish. The entrecote was burned and the veggies were almost cold and mashy.
Pros: I like the small town atmosphere, and as an American, I liked the genuine French culture of the area
Pros: Great staff and good restaurant
Pros: They cook exquisite traditional french meals at a fair price! Best food on our trip!
Pros: The host was super friendly. We loved our stay at Le Coq en Pate. The location of the hotel is awesome. It is quiet and peaceful. You should try the pizza there. It was one of the best i ate in my whole life!
Pros: About 40 minutes by car from Point Sublime (one of possible starting points for Martel trail in Verdon canyon). Kind and friendly staff.
Pros: The arrangements for the late check-in were nicely done. The room decor was charming. Location is quite close to the Gorge of Verdon.
Cons: The tolling of the church bell in the morning can irritate light sleepers. The rooms were clean, however, when I wanted to take an extra pillow stored on the shelf, I found a hair on it, so it made me wonder why the pillow case wasn't changed or why that pillow was in the room. Room size can vary - one of our rooms was very spacious, the other one - not so much.
Pros: Location. All in all ok for one night
Cons: Staff not outright rude but unwelcoming. Bedding very simple and poor. No light in bedroom - probably they would fix it, but I was there one night only. Cherry on a cake - waitress in the restaurant at the dinner was drunk, though not too much.
Pros: Very calm, nice owners, nice breakfast, clean and cosy rooms
Cons: Too many flies

Cons: Breakfast... and you should go there. Several minutes by car! Finally, you receive 4 tastes and 2 small portions of jam for family of 3. Tea coffee water juice. And that's all

Cons: Breakfast is located several minutes by car. Nobody was there and to the phone we were calling nobody was answering.
