9.0 Excellent
Pros: Great room, Elar cabar was very prompt in answering my emails. He organised the bus from Arequipa for us. Great breakfast, with excellent coffee ( rare in Peru). Bed was very comfortable, good hot water and internet. Very good dinners are available
9.6 Excellent
Pros: We stayed at this gorgeous property 2 nights, arriving early afternoon on the bus from Puno. Paulina showed us how to walk down to the hot springs pools that afternoon. We ate in the restaurant both nights, the food was beautifully prepared and presented. On the second day an organised car and driver took us to the Cóndor lookout which was amazing, and then went to Chivay for lunch. We had a very relaxing time here, possibly more time than needed, but it was good to chill out and not push on with busy travel agenda. Elar and his wife were both extremely helpful. We were then moving onto Ariquepa the next morning. They booked us on a local bus from Chivay and wrote down our hotel for the driver to give to a taxi driver, so thoughtful and helpful.
Cons: This is rural Perú which is quite poor. You have to be open to this when traveling. The property itself is an oasis.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Super dinner, great waiter, friendly and helpfull
Cons: Everything perfect
7.5 Good
Pros: Everything! This place is a hidden gem within Yanque town. The lovely owners Elar and Paulina have created a beautiful place to stay. Very comfy beds and modern bathrooms. Delicious meals created by Paulina were a godsend after travelling to Colca Canyon to see the Condor birds (about 1 hour away). I can highly recommend this place
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Super helpful staff and very good food
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff, the rooms, the nice evening dinner etc... everything is perfect

Featured amenities include express check-in, express check-out, and a 24-hour front desk. 9.6 Excellent
Pros: A lovely hotel in a spectacular setting with the most helpful staff you can imagine, (especially Daniel, Paul and Orlando). Excellent on-site restaurant with interesting menu and choices and good value for money. Hotel also arranged a superb Colcha Canyon tour for us. All hotels should aim to achieve this level of customer service.
Cons: The mountain view rooms do already have excellent views and comfortable chairs on the private terraces. However, it would have been nice to also have a few sun loungers and a dipping pool, especially if you are staying for three nights as we did. . Fortunately for future guests, a dipping pool and relaxation terrace looks like it will be completed very soon.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was wonderful. Daniel and Orlando are excellent hosts. The guided walk is well worth it, as are the hot springs. The meals are top quality and the location stunning and very relaxing. Defiantly book it :)
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Nice location and restaurant.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: We enjoyed staying in this lovely and relatively new hotel. We had a great hike with Paul who was very understanding of my husband’s struggle with the altitude. His knowledge of the history of the area was outstanding. Also Orlando was very helpful and friendly. The food was tasty and attractively served with very nice restaurant staff. The room had a great view over The Valley.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great place to relax after a long hike. It's worthwhile spending a few more days than the usual 2 to visit the other highlights of the colca valley, other than the condors. Especially recommended is the evening guided tour, the guide is incredibly knowledgeable about the area and it's history. The hotsprings afterward is the icing on the cake.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful place and beautiful excursion with Paul on Uyo Uyo Collaguas site.
7.9 Good
Pros: Lodge is amazing, buildings are brand new and room was confortable and clean. We appreciated very much the heater (simulating chimney with stones and flames). It would have been outstanding if the swimmingpool they are building now would have been already built.
Cons: Regarding to Hotel (despite the Puno-Colca Tour): Lower music volume in restaurant would be appreciated. Puno-Colca Tour: We hired Puno-Yanque / Yanque-Arequipa Tour with the Lodge Killawasi (3D/2N) and it was a total failure... 105€ each and the bus on the way to Yanque was ultra dirty and the A/C wasn't working properly at all, it was a sand fan. They sell it as if it is a tour, but in reality it is a simple transfer. Not confortable at all for the price you pay, keep low expectations if you dare to do it. In my humble opinion, visiting the Colca Valley is not worth it at all.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great quite spot with a nice view. Rooms very very spacious and tasteful. The staff, especially Orlando, were super helpful and arranged a lot of things for us like tours and transportation.
Cons: The Wifi/internet needs improvement

9.6 Excellent
Pros: This small cozy hotel is located in Chivay main square. Rooms are small m, like often seen in Peru in this kind of facilities, but very clean and cozy. The bed, pillows and blankets were very very comfortable, we had a great night sleep! The staff was very kind and welcoming. Good breakfast.
Cons: Nothing.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: We've booked one night only to stay during a two day tour to Colca Canyon. The room was spacious with big beds, enough space to locate luggage and hang jacketed, and chance for the good rest at night. The room was provided with radiators which were actually needed as in night it was realy cold. We have not got a lot of time to appreciate the hotel as we arrived quite late and started very early. The breakfast was good, with tasty juices and eggs made to the requirements of guest.
Cons: Actually, we have not got any complaints.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was beautiful and warmer than most hostel rooms in Peru. We could store our luggage there before our stay. The breakfast was great, you could order eggs and they even had fruits! I would definitely recommend staying there!
Cons: Nothing, everything was great!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: A fabulous location although it is quite a journey to get there from Arequipa along twisty mountain roads. Well worth it...a beautiful quiet location with hot springs and a spa. The bar staff were very friendly and happy to serve you drinks whilst in the hot springs themselves. No tv so a definite switch off and wind down experience.
Cons: Would have been nice to have complimentary hot drinks in the room
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Excellent breakfast and hot springs were awesome.
Cons: We had a family suite and it was very small - a bit more space like a sitting area would have been nice - not just 4 beds and a small desk.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is beautiful! So quiet and yet there are many things to do in the area.
Cons: We wish that we had a someone to talk to us about tours etc, when we arrived. We were a bit late for schedules the next morning.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: evrything the place the beauty of the site the view theclama farm and hot springs the specious ellgant rooms the dinner at the restaurant
Cons: nothing at all
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great facilities and amenities. We really liked the hot springs.
Cons: Laundry service was very expensive as they charge per item. If you’re looking to wash your clothes in bulk, I’d suggest waiting for the next place.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is in an incredible location within the Colca Canyon. The highlight for us was the private hot springs next the river. The room we booked was spacious and stylish with a great bathroom.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything else really. A nice welcome drink, amazing hot springs, attentive and excellent waiters at the restaurant, a great breakfast buffet, comfy beds, a cute Alpaca farm on site. The atmosphere and scenery in the canyon is amazing of course. What's not to love?
Cons: The curtains in our room were a orange-yellowish color, not really blocking the light. This means once the sun is up, you're up. While some people surely enjoy being awoken by the sun, we had a long hike the day before and would have preferred to sleep in.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The location and facilities. If you are going to have to take it easy due to altitude then this is a good place to do it
Cons: The path to the springs is s bit muddy an slippery when it rains

9.6 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is composed of small houses which you can rent. Bathroom is extremely large like in spa, rooms are very warm due to effective heating and there is a fireplace in the room too. I liked the service as the personnel was very helpful in organising transport from Arequipa to Canyon de Colca, then transport around the Canyon for the hikes which we wanted to do. The extra free of charge service include feeding 4 baby alpakas with milk which we liked a lot and cooking lesson.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: everything especially thanks to Mr Barnaby to help us with the new booking of our new flights - the flights we booked where cancelled. the feeding of the baby alpacac's - the beautiful walk in the resort with marvellous views of the colca canyon - stay there at least 1 night more to enjoy all the facilities of the resort and to relax
Cons: everything perfect
2.5 Mediocre
Cons: Worst hotel in the world !!!! Las Casistas did a mistake in our payment. We paid two times our trip 5.000 usd instead of 2500 usd. They refuse to help us and to reimburse. The WORST hotel in the world where you pay dobble the Price. And NO help to their customer. A shame
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Rustic chic cottage, lovely heated outdoor lap pool, great and healthy food, excellent service! Walking through the orchards and herb gardens was very relaxing and pleasant. And feeding the alpacas, not to be missed!!!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Gorgeous location. Big beautiful room. Personal pool. Spa and other activities.
Cons: Meals could be better and dining room is not very attractive at night.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was perfect for the last stop on our Peruvian honeymoon. The staff are incredible, location stunning and the Casitas had everything we could possible need. Couldn't recommend this more highly.
Overview Reviews
It is a dream hotel, full of legends, andean and colonial traditions, surrounded by stunning views, located in the district of Coporaque along the Colca riverbank, three hours from the city of Arequipa. An old watermill located at the entrance of the hotel, welcomes you to Aranwa Pueblito Encantado del Colca, giving the best access to the magical universe that surrounds the Colca Valley. This place has an indescribable flora and fauna, as well as a hypnotic colorful sky crossed by the elegant flight of the condor, one of the most representative birds of Peru.Coporaque is a legendary place, located ten minutes from the town of Chivay. It has a vast colonial history that transports you to a scene of andean traditions, mysticism, devotion to religious festivals, and to the historical past that few have experienced closely.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful location, friendly staff. The restaurant/clubhouse is a great family amenity. LOVE the onsite animals, especially the baby alpacas.
Cons: Our room was very hot from the afternoon sun beaming in. Took a long time to cool off and made sleeping difficult. There was only 1 window in the bedroom and once opened, you loose privacy. Other than that, super stay.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The location is amazing, hidden in the mountains. Nice termas very close from the hotel, the room was big, nice and very comfortable and the breakfast was great!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was wonderful! The staff, the view, the food, and the hot springs!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Spacious room, friendly and welcoming staff, great restaurant, lamas and other animals free on the property, lovely hot thermal baths right outside the hotel.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Everything has been thought to allow you to relax. A very good hotel, not cheap, but quality has a price.
Cons: Nothing.
7.9 Good
Pros: The room is impressively big and comfortable
Cons: There swimming pool has cold water. If you wanna use the thermal pool, you have to pay extra as the hotel doesnt have one. Besides, for check in, we had to walk as cars are not allowed to get to the check in area. It happens that we are at 3600 meters. It is not nice to walk for that. To get to the room, you have to walk up stairs, not nice either because of the height.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Quiet and good size rooms Like the cleanliness and easy to use the hotel. Good food and price was competitive.
Cons: Friendly staff, helpful and willing to facilitate any travel plans quiet
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I really like the design of the property, it is located at Yanque wherein the plaza you can see the spectacular active volcano Sabancaya and take nice pictures. The hotel provides a nice view of the mountains with nice shades, you can see the sunrise, it's all that it counts. You have a basic breakfast and a la carte dishes for your dinner. They don't offer lunch because you have restaurants in Chivay only 8 kilometres from there, where you can visit the Mirador, the Hot Springs, and have your lunchtime there. It is all about tourism and you need to explore better with own vehicle. The hotel also has an Alpaca, so the kids can take a nice photo, and there is also a backyard you can do bonfire if you like and hammocks. I really love this place, you can always travel to Peru, and buy your own tour at the main square plaza. I do not recommend buying whole packages because you don't have the option to choose your hotel. With booking you know where to go, and sure the place will satisfy your expectations.
Cons: The Hotel should improve or update the bathrooms, and create a Spa with jacuzzi and massage services, manicure and pedicure. Other than that I am completely satisfied and the staff is welcoming and reserved.
4.6 Okay
Cons: Bad service No buffet breakfast I ask to speak with manager and they didnt let me Wont come back again
10.0 Excellent

Pros: The staff were friendly, the bed was comfortable and the room was warm with loads of blankets available. Everything was clean and well presented. Brilliant location just off the main square in Chivay!
Cons: It was hit and miss whether the shower was hot or cold, and the WiFi didn’t work in the room.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very flexible with breakfast. We had a bus to catch at 7:00am and we got breakfast served at 6:00am
7.0 Good
Pros: Breakfast was good. Young man at desk was very helpful.
Cons: No shampoo in bathrooms.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Brilliant rooms, fantastic customer service, offered to make us alternatives for dinner, offered us very early breakfast sowe could leave early
6.7 Good
Pros: Decent sized rooms and a location right next to the main square of Chivay Breakfast was good Good for a night’s stay if heading to Colca Canyon
Cons: Traffic along one of the main roads to the square, and the dogs in that part of town, are a regular noise throughout the night so not too good for light sleepers The rooms are very cold and the shower luke warm / takes around 5 mins to warm up Check-in is quite amateur. Don’t be surprised if they have no record of your booking and can’t access booking.com Can take a while to be let in when ringing the front door bell
7.5 Good
Pros: The breakfast was good. It is in a great location. We enjoyed our time very much.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very close to the Plaza de Armas. Friendly people.
Cons: Though the breakfast was arranged pretty early, could have been better.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Nice room and nice decore/ art throughout the place. Best hot shower I've found yet in Peru.
Cons: Assistance setting up transportation to the condors was difficult. They told me to go to the square. The tourist booths in the square told me, my hostal/hotel would set it up. The loud music playing next door at 6am was awakening. It was actually good cultural music (not annoying), but way to loud for 6am.
6.3 Good
Pros: The location was very good.
Cons: No elevator, They didnt accept visa for a payment although when I made at booking the reservation it was mentioned as a way of payment. No small towels in the bathroom no coffe at breakfast!

7.9 Good
Pros: Perfectly fine. Basic and okay for 1 night. The host let me stay until noon (checkout is 10am normally but I was the only one in.) Felt quite welcome there.
Cons: Thought it was a bit dark but that's the building and can't be fixed I don't think.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Marina was super nice and helpful, she gave us great recommendations and even came with us to the bus station to help us.
Cons: It was very, very cold in the room. We had a small heater, but even so it wasn't enough. On our second night there was no hot water.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Marena was awesome. Helped with recommendations around Chivay, arranged for short trip to neighboring towns, always happy and helpful. Chivay is a great little town. They have upgraded a lot of streets and are continuing to do so. Lots of effort to make the town a better place. Kollawas is on a "main" street, but it is pretty quiet, especially in the rooms at the back of the building.
Cons: Room was a bit small - no real place to stick our luggage, just a small path around the bed. Internet was very slow, but still better than Cabanaconde.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Eager happy service. Booked us on great tours. Great breakfast! Even took our bags to the bus stop for us so we could do more exploring before the bus came. Dinner and dance show were great and a great tour with lots of condors. Highly recommended.
Cons: Nothing
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Marina is a wonderful kind host
9.2 Excellent
Pros: First of all, in Chivay it is hard to find the perfect hostel. But this hostel was clean, had hot water, towels, comfortable beds, and a kitchen. The most important factor is Marina. She helped me with everything, even walking me to the bus station and negotiating a discount for my bus to Puno. She also talked about the town and brought in special fruits for my breakfast accommodating my diet. If you stay in Chivay, you can't go wrong here.
Cons: I thought 20$ was a bit expensive and the WiFi was a bit slow.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Very welcoming. Marina helped us out from the begining to the end. She even make breakfast earlier than the regular schedule just for us since we were leaving early for our Colca tour. She went above and beyond with hospitallity expectations !!
Cons: For an affordable price you need to be considered with your expectations. Overall great customer service !!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything
Cons: I really enjoyed my stay there, Marina was super nice and she helped to organize my colca Canyon tour
Hotel El Refugio - Chivay - Building
11
8.6 Excellent (315 reviews)
6.7 Good
Pros: The thermal pool, the common rooms were good!
Cons: The room could have been better, the bathroom and it lacked of the common facilities (ex. Electric sockets??) Also the breakfast could have been better..
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very nice views from the room, they provided 2 heaters therefore the room was warm and nice Hotel having its own thermal pool was great as well
Cons: The dining area was too cold to enjoy the dinner and the bar. Additionally i would change the lightbulbs to yellow color instead of fluorescent white to give more cosy feeling. Dinner menu could be improved with more options.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Great wi fi. Hot water bottle in room.
Cons: Lighting in room
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The quantity of food at the breakfast and dinner buffets was good, the room was spacious and comfortable with a nice environment surrounding it and the staff were very helpful and friendly. We enjoyed the hot spring pool and, although it was extremely cold, the big pool was refreshing on a hot afternoon.
Cons: The hot spring pool did not open until noon everyday, so we could not start our day with a warm soak. The food, although generally fairly tasty, was mostly the same things over and over and staying there for 4 days made the repetitiveness of the dishes a problem. They don't seem to expect you to stay and relax during the day there - they don't have lounge chairs at the pool and there aren't any services at the pools or between meals.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was one of the best. Rooms can get pretty cold but the staff makes sure you stay warm without evening mentioning it. Perfect!
Cons: Dinner is pretty expensive considering the quality which is a pitty since there aren't any good restaurants around and the hotel is pretty remote.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Big and clean room. Private Spa. View on the river. Room with hot air. Suggested
Tradicion Colca - Yanque - Building
12
8.6 Excellent (270 reviews)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Really beautiful and clean facilities. Wonderful breakfast and easy to hike through town and to the ruins from there.
Cons: Dinner was more pricey than I expected compared to everywhere else I had dinner in Peru, but they include a Planetarium tour as part of it. The staff was helpful and nice.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The hotel has the best staff, tasty cuisine, very interesting interior and offers spa, pool and a planetarium experience. They also offer a free walking tour in the area.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A wonderful stay the Andean theme with perfect taste, they have thought of everything to make it pleasantly enjoyable in every way! Well done Tradición Colca... I will be back
Cons: There was nothing I didn't like
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The facility is very good. Nice rooms, showers and garden. The main space is welcoming. The food is good even if expensive if you compare it to peru and not to europe
Cons: It is a place that is mainly abut making money. We stayed for a week with 2 kids, when we asked to check out at 11:00 (check out time is at 10 which is very early) the girl at the desk did a face and told us that 10:30 is the max they can do. Because most of the people stay in colca for a night or 2 the staff wasnt into being too nice.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: There was free coca tea in the lobby. The breakfast was brilliant - pancakes, jam, honey, olives, cheese, sausage, bread, eggs, coffee, a variety of tea, juice made from pineapple, oranges and banana. The only thing missing was probably water. Breakfast is served from 5:30 onwards, which is great if you want to do a tour, catch a bus or go hiking. The staff was very polite, friendly and helpful. The room was big, clean and light. The bathroom was very nice too. There was even a hairdrier. And one has to mention the observatory, which was a great experience. There was a short introductory film, then the guide, who knew what he was talking about, informed us about some of the stars and planets which we then got so see through the teleskope. The whole thing took an hour and exceeded our expectations. (Recommended even if your Spanish is not brilliant! ;) )
Cons: Wifi was only available in the restaurant, which was a bit annoyoing because one automatically tends to check emails/book future accomodation during dinner/breakfast. Beforehand we read something about a whirlpool, but there was "only" an indoor swimming pool. There were a lot of families with small kids.
7.5 Good
Pros: The staff was excellent, friendly and always helpful. Thank you!! The hot chocolate tastes excellent! The tasteful decor, the location and the observatory are also a plus.
Cons: Many details would have to be improved: there was a sauna and swimming pool, but no dressing gowns or dressing rooms; in the room there was no waste paper bin; not very customer friendly, a small room with double bed and an extra bed for our child should cost as much as a loft with 5 beds; the breakfast was simple, without fruits and from 8 o'clock there was no more coffee; the restaurant okay but a bit too expensive. My conclusion: too expensive for what is offered.
6.7 Good
Pros: Location and personnel
Cons: Cold and hot water regulation in the shower. Lack of lighting in some area could pose a risk.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very quiet although near the road. So few cars.
Cons: The dinner menu is not worth a French manager. The cheap and simple "restaurant" where the citizens eat has more tasty menue del dia.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Loved every minute of staying in this place - reception staff were extremely friendly and we got on so well having great chats together about life and everything in between. Though the place was quite quiet even though it is high season it felt very attentive and there was always someone around to help. Incredible location a 3 min walk to the centre of Chivay, breakfast was great and we could even ask what we wanted to have and they ensured it would be on the table in the morning, and the showers were so hot! One of the best places we stayed at in Peru.
Cons: Bathroom smelled a little bizarre but this was soon dealt with. Amazing place.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: We had a great breakfast and enjoyed our time in this hotel. It is close to the center and the staff was really nice and friendly.

9.2 Excellent
Pros: Our family had a great stay here. Breakfast was good with 6am start which is great prior to activities. Room was basic and very spacious. Large bathroom with big walk-in shower - water was very hot with good pressure. We had a heater in our room which was a nice option. The absolute best part of this hotel is the owner/manager. She is very nice and very accommodating. She helped us book our tour to the canyon and also helped arrange our visit to the Colca observatory/planetarium (which was excellent and very worthwhile). She is a very sweet and caring person and our encounter with her helped shape our trip into a very memorable family experience, even our young boys commented how pleasant and nice she was... Peru is a very beautiful albeit busy travel destination, travel well and make your time in Chivay enjoyable by staying here...
8.3 Excellent
Pros: We were assisted by the proprietress in laundry services and calling a doctor to make a visit when one of us had perhaps caught a stomach infection complicated by altitude sickness. She also prepared a diet breakfast based on the doctor's recommendations. We are eternally grateful for all the she did.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Really close to the bus station and to the pick up point of 4M bus. The main square is also close, approx 5 minutes. The host is friendly, he helped me to organize colca canyon tour for next day. Bed was ok, the room was clean and I got extra cover for the night (it's cold in Chivay in April). Wifi worked well in the room. Breakfast was good, egg, jam, marmalade, juice and tea :) There was hot water (just wait 2 min).
Cons: The host helped me to organize a trip for colca canyon for 40 soles although if you do it for yourself at the square it's 5 soles less. He forgot to tell me that there is 70 soles fee to enter the canyon. The room has no heating although they provided extra cover.
