10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything! Staying at Posada at the end of a lengthy motorcycle trip was a real treat. I only wished I had stayed longer and will not hesitate to make this my next stop on my next trip. Will definitely stay longer and explore the region too. The host being a geologist was great in explaining the local geomorphology, which is spectacular! The host is very welcoming and it’s obvious that she takes great pride in her house, garden and cooking. Dinner in the evening and breakfast in the morning were excellent and reflected the fresh produce from the region with many ingredients coming from the Posada’s own garden. The guest sitting and galleried library space room are very cosy, with wood burning stove to keep the chill off. I stayed in the single room, which was far more luxurious (with large bed) than most doubles I’ve stayed in! All in all I couldn’t recommend staying at the Posada highly enough. Until next time!
Cons: Nothing. Everything was perfect!

Cons: Owner Rocco came across as rude and a bit short tempered with us, we only wanted a few beers but it seemed a great effort to him. Pros: Good location next to the N623 but quiet in the evening even with the bedroom window open. The owner (3rd generation in the family) looked after us royally. Pros: Javi and his mother and the rest of the staff were amazing and so nice! It was my first time in Borlena and I was alone for two nights but their hospitality was more than I could hope for. The hotel was really clean and the beds were big. Their restaurant closes on Sunday 6pm but since I had to wait for the bus at 8pm, they welcomed me to stay outside the waiting area in their restaurant. I really, really appreciated their kindness. El Meson Restaurant was superb. The best dish for me was the solomillo de vaca. If you ever spend overnight at Cantabria and would like to enjoy a quiet night, I would highly highly recommend Hotel de Borlena.

Pros: The warmth of the welcome from Javier and his family. The fantastic food - the beautiful location. A days bird watching was unforgettable. A memorable stay.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything! The converted mill was lovely and in a fabulous location. Beautifully peaceful and relaxing. The food was excellent (especially as I am dairy free) with local produce. Javier & Valvanera, were fantastic hosts, not only quietly ensuring everything was right for us but also providing walking routes and maps in the spectacular limestone canyons near-by. We also had a great day birding with Javier who is extremely knowledgeable and we saw a spotted crake much to everyone's pleasure! Overall this is a lovely place to visit - we will return.
Cons: Nothing. This is a converted mill that has retained all its features and charm. It is comfortable without being luxurious. It is fairly remote so you need to enjoy the peace and quiet - which we do.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Typical Spanish breakfast - we asked for it. We enjoyed everything we were served with pleasure. The host - an amazing bird enthusiast. He told us a lot about his hobby, but not enough, becouse were there too short. Fantastic location: peace, quiet and the sound of the flowing river. Rooms very clean, including toilet. If only we have the opportunity, we will be back there
Cons: I think nothing to improve. Maybe just that we could not eat dinner. But it's my fault because I did not ask for supper. I did not see the bar. :-)

6.7 Good
Pros: The owners were fantastic. Really nice people. Made us feel very welcome. Prepared food off the menu and at a late hour that was 100% homemade. Could not have been more hospitable. The owner has an exotic bird in a cage at the back of the restaurant area, and showed us how the bird relates to him by letting the bird out. It was really sweet. The little bird nuzzled up to him even though it had the option to fly away. Lovely to see that!
Cons: The property is beautiful. Typical Galician style. The room was large with plenty of room. The only difficulty was the usual double length pillow on the double bed. Very hard, and made it difficult to get comfortable and sleep well. But the owners were so helpful and accommodating that was so much more importan.

Pros: Stunning location and the building and gardens are beautifully maintained.

Pros: Excellent facilities, very peaceful
Cons: All good!
7.5 Good
Pros: Beautiful property, lovely gardens. It’s owned by a husband and wife team with their daughter. He looks after the lovely gardens, she cooks and probably cleans and the daughter waits and deals with check-in and check-outs. The rooms were immaculate, the cleanest I’ve seen, except the shower head, that was covered in mould and disgusting.
Cons: The food portions were really mean. Never had 10 chips as a portion! I had lamb cutlets. There were 5 and they were beyond tiny. I had a glass of wine and it was about 75ml, I kid you not. The beers were also the smallest bottles you can buy. Forget all that though, this is the best. The room was boiling so we wanted to put the air con on. No remote. We went and asked and had to pay an extra €5 euros for it!!!!!! It’s a shame, the location was good, as was the hotel itself but it was totally spoilt by mean portions and the ridiculous policy of having to pay for heating/cooling. I’d have rather paid a bit more for the room and the dinner. I’m afraid we won’t go again. Lastly, we were the only guests that night, one wonders why! This place should be able rely on repeat customers being so close to Santander port. I guess many who have tried have the same feelings.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The owners are lovely! Extremely helpful and friendly. He makes superb red wine. She is a very good cook - have dinner! The gardens are beautiful. The location is perfect for the Ferries from Santander. A very quiet location. We will try to stay here if we need an over-nighter for Brittany Ferries.
Cons: Leaving.

Pros: We booked the hotel as it was pet-friendly. My husband and I travelled with our labrador,so the hotel was perfect for us indeed. The room was clean, beautifully decorated. It was big enough for overnight stay for the 3 of us. Pictures shown on the website were very accurate. The host Orlando was very friendly, very accommodating. He showed us the nearby places where to eat , as well us the areas to explore. Highly recommended for people with pets.
Cons: The hotel was good but the downside was it was right next to the train station so you could hear the noise. But having said that,we still managed to sleep soundly.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: It was a small quaint hotel, within a 40 minute drive of Santander, with lots of character a pleasant surprise. I even had a choice of bedroom, all of which were different.
Cons: I didn't mind that it was a very quiet location as I was travelling through.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The ferry had problems so we arrived 3 hours late and very hungry, so the staff cooked a very nice dinner for us and considering the kitchen was closed we were very impressed. The hotel is just off the main road from Santander to Valladolid/ Salamanca (A67) and only about 45min, from the Ferry Port a very convenient stop over. With private parking at the rear.
Cons: Nothing
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Friendly & welcoming staff. Very convenient for overnight stop on way from Santander Ferry to Southern Spain; 5 minutes off the A 67. Comfortable beds.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Fabulous characterful property, well maintained, spotlessly clean room with excellent facilities. Very friendly and helpful hosts who spoke better English than my Spanish! Great breakfast, easy parking, easy 30 minute drive from Santander.
Cons: A little bit of occasional noise from the road and railway (opposite) but this is very minor.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: We had a cosy night in front of a real fire. Village is in a valley set in Mountains with great views. Location is quiet and ideal to catch ferry from Santandar (35 minutes drive at 8:30 in the morning). The village is off A67 and served by railway (station is opposite the property). BUT there is no noise from these. Staff were friendly & helpful.
Cons: Bit difficult to find on our Sat Nav. But once in village it was signposted. GPS coordinates would be useful. Or put Las Fraguas railway station in search.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful rural location. We’ve travelled with our dog. And nothing too much from the hosts. They told us where to go to eat and it was superb - middle of nowhere and real ‘old fashion Spain’. Thank you for a great stay.

Pros: Good hotel in a location just out of the centre of the town. Large room with separate TV and sitting area.
