Pros: The location was perfect for a stopover en route to the Vendée coast from the UK. Jacques and Sybille were extremely welcoming, and the family (double) room suited us well. Little touches like crayons and colouring books, games and Lego in the kids room really made the stay extra special. The breakfast was delicious too. Nothing to fault here!!
Pros: Jaques and Sybille were the absolute perfect hosts. Jacques speaks good English but was polite enough to allow me to speak my version of French. His wife speaks no English which is not a crticism (it's their country!) She was so charming too. They invited me to sit chat and drink wine with them in garden which was lovely. The property is fabulously decorated and maintained - a fabulous mix of ultra modern with classic regency. Huge gardens that are well maintained. Very spacious and the room and en-suite were fabulously designed, equipped and decorated. Breakfast was plentiful, varied and fresh - first class. Very highly recommended.. I would return.
Cons: There was nothing to dislike.
Pros: Very quiet location with comfortable and spacious bedroom. Well equipped en-suite. Tea and coffee was provided in our room which you do not always find in France. Breakfast was very good, plenty of fresh fruit, bread, croissants and eggs from the family's own hens. Jacques was an excellent host, very happy to chat.
Pros: The breakfast was excellent, the owners were more than helpful and a wonderful setting. Also very convenient for the A28. We are going again next month!
Cons: Can't think of anything!
Pros: Quiet and picturesque setting for a beautifully renovated chateau. The family room was well designed and thoughtfully equipped for just that, families (games, toys, books, teddy bears...) The owners were incredibly friendly and inviting, going out of their way to make our stay comfortable and to cater for our family. Our visit was just a one night stop over but we’ll definitely return and next time for longer. Genuinely can’t express how brilliant the chateau and owners were, thank you.
Cons: There was nothing we didn’t like, it was over and above our expectations. If I was being incredibly picky, it would have been nice to have a bath for the family room as well as the shower but that’s not essential.
Pros: The historic property was beautifully kept and rooms were impeccably clean. The chateau has extensive grounds which guests are welcomed to explore. My children enjoyed the goats, chickens, peacocks and horses that are kept at a nice distance from the chateau. It’s perfect for families with children or couples. The hosts were wonderful and accommodating. We felt very welcomed by their warm hospitality. Breakfast included breads, fresh eggs , coffee, cheese etc.. and was delicious. The WiFi was very good and the location was perfect for exploring near by sites in the Normandy region.
Cons: There are no complaints about the property, in fact my family looked forward to returning to the clean and comfortable rooms at the end of each day.
Pros: We loved the warm welcome and friendliness of the hosts! The family suite was amazing too with all you would need with children, even toys to play with! Great comfort and amazing art work!
Pros: Good location and facilities. Well appointed inside with somewhat ‘eclectic’ interior design. Felt at home by very friendly reception of the owner couple
Cons: Nothing really
Pros: Excellent breakfast and great location
Pros: This place is beautiful, only a few minutes from the A28, but a world away. The hosts could not have been more welcoming, the interior of the chateau was cool despite record-breaking heat outside (although the first floor bedrooms were much cooler than the second floor bedroom we actually stayed in). We were recommended a restaurant about 5km away, located in an old water mill, for our evening meal, which was also very good. As other guests have noted, the breakfast was excellent. All round, we couldn’t have asked for a better start to our holiday, and I would return at the drop of a hat.
When you stay at Maison D'hôtes La Bihorée in Saint-Jean-de-Livet, you'll be within a 10-minute drive of Sainte-Therese Basilica and Lisieux Cathedral. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Very confortable, cleane, stylish accomodation. Big garden, host very friendly.
Cons: Breakfast was in fact quite basic, addition of eggs and (Normandese) cheeese would be most welcome, the price would warrant it too.
Pros: Stunning location/views, lovely host who provided a very warm welcome and it was a very peaceful place with no noise.
Cons: Duvets too thick for summer
Pros: What a wonderful place - stunning views of Normandy countryside and a warm welcome. The rooms were comfortable and charming and it was so peaceful. Our hostess provided a delicious home cooked dinner and freshly baked madeleines for breakfast.
Pros: Set in the breathing taking outskirts of Lisieux, the grounds of this truely outstanding B&B defies description. Our accommodation was immaculately clean and an imaginative mix of modern and old furnishings and fittings. Our hosts (Marie-Jeanne and Clarence) could not have made us feel more welcome, we spent our honeymoon at La Bihorée, a little patch of heaven. The breakfasts provided was made the freshest of local produce (some ingredients straight from the garden). Marie-Jeanne is an excellent and enthusiastic cook and offers evening meals (with 24 hour notice), we enjoyed our first evening meal so much we asked Marie-Jeanne to prepare us a meal each alternate evening...sublime! When dining out, we relied on recommendations provided by our hosts and were never disappointed. This review could not be complete with mentioning our four legged hosts, Jack and Lelu...great fun and just as welcoming. Four beautiful cats owned by Marie-Jeanne and Clarance roam the lawns and private woodland welcomed us in their individual feline way. Thank you to La Bihorée, all of you...we hope to see you very soon. ❤️
Cons: Not one thing
Pros: Nice and friendly owner. Exellent breakfast, family atmosphere.
Cons: A small refrigerator may be a good addition.
Pros: The setting was beautiful and the contrast between modern walls and 400 year old timber framing was outstanding.
Cons: There is only a sheer curtain separating sleeping quarters #1 from the bathroom. Thus, there was little real privacy for the person staying in sleeping quarters #2 when taking a shower, etc. They could completely cure this by replacing the sheer curtain with one providing more privacy. I was unable to see this from the photos or would have been concerned since my wife and I were staying in sleeping quarters #2 and a female friend was staying in sleeping quarters #2

Pros: Very comfortable, spacious, spotless room, delicious breakfast,
Pros: Denise, was a friendly and welcoming host. She could not have done more to make our stay pleasant and comfortable. We loved the home-grown and/our home-produced breakfast spread. The room was clean and airy and it was nice to be greeted by the resident goat and chickens as we left each morning.
Cons: We didn't have a car for the first part of our stay, but assumed it would be easy to hire a taxi from Barnay, having arrived there by train. But this was not so easy as there seems to be only one local taxi firm with perhaps only two(?) drivers. If we'd known, we would have pre-booked and also perhaps brushed up on our French.
Pros: The breakfast always included produce from the farm.
Cons: Nothing come to miind
Pros: lovely friendly relaxing place to stay in a quiet remote setting but near lovely Orbec old town with lovely typical french rest. and buildings.
Pros: In this quiet corner of the countryside you are greeted by Denise who makes you feel immediately at ease. The accommodation is simple, very clean and everything essential is in place. Breakfast is plentiful and well cared for. We were very happy to have stopped here during our vacation and we highy recommend everyone to do so.
Pros: The host was wonderful, helpful and friendly.
Cons: The mattress of the double bed was a bit small and a little hard for my liking.
Pros: Great location, nice clean rooms
Pros: The breakfast spread was wonderful, homemade produce and lots of choice. The host was exceptionally helpful and friendly. Tea and cake were really welcome on arrival and the setting was perfect and the conservatory room was so comfortable and looked out on the gardens.
Pros: We really enjoyed our stay here, the family room was perfect for us (2 adults, 7yo and 5yo). The owners were charming and very friendly, our kids loved the breakfast (hot chocolate was a bit of a treat for them) and the fact it was a working farm was a plus for us, so the kids got to see the animals etc. Location really suited for a 1-night break between Calais and the Loire, we would happily return again for a longer stay.
Pros: Very friendly and helpful. The owner kindly booked a restaurant for us.
Cons: Only stayed one night, had to ask for more toilet roll. A kettle in the room, but only one cup.
Located in Firfol, Lisieux Country House is in a rural location, within a 10-minute drive of Sainte-Therese Basilica and Lisieux Cathedral. Featured amenities include multilingual staff, luggage storage, and coffee/tea in a common area. A roundtrip airport shuttle is provided for a surcharge (available on request), and free self parking is available onsite.
Cons: The most unpleasant hostess. She insisted that we arrive at 19h30 exactly and wanted a wire transfer. We finally agreed on paying cash. The next we had to leave early in the morning. My son left his glasses in the room so I went back to pick it up. The hostess almost attacked us because we didn’t turn the car around correctly. Nice establishments but to avoid at all cost as the hostess is very very unpleasant.
Pros: Beautiful location, charactetistic atmosphere, large garden, nice family, breakfast in style, offers of fresh fruits and coffee/tea during day.
Cons: No keys to lock room door. From inside only an old stiff slide. Only one contact point in room. No WiFi in rooms (is mentioned though). No cleaning, for example bins of changing towels in 3 days.
Pros: Beautiful property. Comfortable and elegant. Karen and Frederick are great hosts and the food was excellent. Karen cooked a wonderful breakfast and a fantastic evening meal. Eat there don't go out is our advice.
Cons: It rained!
Pros: the garden setting was beautiful
Cons: The address given was not correct. It was given as 130 Chemin de l"eglise which is correct but the village was said to be Hermival-les-Vaux which is wrong and the GPS would not recognise that address. It was in fact in the village of FirFol which the GPS accepted. It took us ages driving around to try to find the place and then we called the owner who clarified the correct address. Also in was awkward for the check in to only begin at 19.00
Pros: House is old, interesting, and has a large garden Good breakfast but a little expensive compared with other French sites
Cons: Room was quite small - no room for bedside cabinet so no bedside light No glass for water - we were offered a glass but didn't realise there wouldn't be one in the room No TV in room Wifi very flakey Wouldn't have found the property from the booking.com site location. Hostess sent excellent details though. Needs a welcome sheet in the room to explain facilities. Without wifi, we couldn't check
Pros: Nice welcome and gave some tips on what to visit in the area
Cons: Address completely wrong town. Breakfast very stingy.
Pros: This is a very nice little Castle (romantic too), that’s well kept to preserve its history, with antique furniture, decorations and beautiful landscaping. Karen who speaks English and French fluently has such a great history knowledge and knows interesting stories with a nice sense of humor too. She enjoys spending time with her guests as she is a genuine host who is passionate about making everyone feel comfortable and excited about their time at the Castle! We arrived very late (after 11:00pm), and after getting settled in, and she found out that we had not had dinner, she offered to get us something ready; which was a very nice dinner at midnight! Breakfast with the fresh squeezed orange juice and strawberries from the garden was a nice touch. The money we paid for the dinner and breakfast was very reasonable, as it was so tasty, and convenient. It does not reflect the hard work that Karen and her staff provide to please her guests. We recommend people to go out of their way to experience a “romantic trip back in history” as we did!... Thank you very much Karen. We hope to visit you soon again. Pascal, Paola & Sammie
Cons: We wished that we had more time to spend there to appreciate activities and site scenery around there, but we were in a hurry as our trip was coming to an end.
Pros: Beautiful large residence set back from the road. Very friendly and helpful hosts - wonderful breakfast. Beautiful surrounds and furnishings
Pros: The property is old country mansion with some preserved furniture- it looks quite romatic.
Cons: We felt uncomfortable, because all furniture and even beds were covered with plastic, our host was too enthusiastic and secure at the same time ( asking to pay her cash for one night as we just arrived). The breakfast was too expensive ( 12eu per person only for Croissants, 1egg ( no more!- as we were asking), some jam, bad coffee and package tea. The check in time is too late ( 19h)
