Food was excellent!! Best steak I ever had!!
I liked the atmosphere espc the drawing/reading room. The bar area was a bit cramped for a large no of people.
Location, friendliness of staff, pace of life in Connemara.
Location/room size/view from room Noise transmittance/tv in room had such a poor reception as to be un- watchable/ choice of fish meals having booked for the fish
Beautiful views from new rooms with balconies. Rooms are well equipped and comfortable. Comfortable large lounge with open fire and food was very good, both dinner and breakfast. Hotel looks a bit tacky at the front with cheap signs etc.. Reception very off-hand and not particularly welcoming. Price seemed quite high.
We enjoyed the view from the balcony. The room was a good size, comfortable and warm. Also really loved the Edwardian drawing room - very relaxing and beautiful room to sit and read in. There was no bin in the bedroom, only a small one in the bathroom. The amount of lights switches was quite confusing. We found the staff unfriendly, particularly the waitress who served us for dinner. We did not eat in the restaurant again after this experience, which was a shame as the food was good.
Value for money. Good allround presentation. Friendly and oblidging staff.Good food and relaxed atmosphere As a family owned hotel it would be nice if members met guests in the diningroom. just a call to the tables. A nice and welcoming gesture. No hotel brochure avaible on checking out.
the food was excellent Hotel was a little dated, if you have an 02 phone there is no signal and no public internet provision
Location Contraction site at the moment, old equipment, thin walls and little privacy
Beautiful hotel, food lovely, however staff not able to cope with breakfast rush. Food delicious but do not be in a hurry. Price varys according to avability on the evening, guests booking in on the day get a rate of 50 euro per couple less than what I paid for because I had booked in advance, however I was given the same rate as I happened to arrive to pay as another couple were paying and had stayed for 1 night as we had.
Everything! The Staff were so lovely and helpful. The room was beautiful, as were the views. The Spa was so relaxing. The whole experience was great
The location is stunning. Architecture is nice and rooms are different from regular hotels. The loft room was nice but not very big. Spa facilities seemed good. Overpriced - accomodation and food. Not a good family hotel, no playground or outside leisure facilities which is surprising given that Delphi have a fantastic outdoor education centre nearby. No TV in room. Perfect for singles and couples who want the spa experience. We did get an excellent babysitter though, very friendly and great with our daughter. The meal was good but not fantastic. Restaurant staff were friendly and prompt. Deluxe double room wasn't very deluxe.
Beautiful location with view of the mountains from all sides of the hotel, food was fabulous, lots of activities during the day and a very relaxing spa.
The scenery of the area is spectacular! A very large bath in our beautiful room (in our spa hotel) but not enough warm (let alone) hot water to fill it. Very disappointing and so basic a thing to get right. Very silly for a place where guests want to relax. Dont bother putting a bath into the room if you cant fill it!!!
Its location, ideal to go cycling etc Its poor entertainment for night time, could not imagine staying during the winter months, no tv, no interent access no music? Also tried to over charge for bar drinks!!!!
peace and quiet-- the food was excellent-- the surrounding country is just heavenly n/a
For our requirements, the location is fantastic. Rooms were clean, new and spacious. Parking had limited capacity mainly due to a wedding but some people parked really poorly e.g. taking up two spaces. maybe lines may help.
Beautiful location, Beautiful house They weren't available on the phone around 20:00 on the first day when we needed some help with finding the location (the answer machine says that they answer only until 17:30) - it was very stressing
Very nice old world atmosphere. good fishing experience. very good food. I would prefer better potatoe dishes rather than chips or mash.
The lovely way in which the hotel was managed so that we felt welcome, comfortable and well cared for in every way.
My Husband and myself both consider this to be the best Hotel we have ever stayed in. We were looking for a small luxury hotel without crowds so that we could enjoy our wedding anniservary peacefully. This hotel fitted the bill perfectly. All of the staff obviously enjoy their job and this came across in their attitude to their guests. We will definetly be coming back.
Very friendly welcome and attentive service throughout. Unique location with spectacular views. Would like to have stayed much longer.
The food was excellent and the Connemara surroundings were spectacular
I really enjoyed the friendly atmosphere and the excellent food. The room was very comfortable and of course the scenery is magnficent.
staying at the lodge was a vwery relaxing enjoyable experience, the staff mad every effort to ensure our confort during our stay, would have no problem recommending it as a getaway venue.
Everything: fabulous location and views, beautiful adn spacious rooms, excellent food and wonderful staff
Tucked as it is in the stunning Connemara mountains, the hotel is in a near perfect location. Adding to this the warm and friendly welcome, the personal service and the superb food has meant this is one hotel I am looking forward to visiting again. A true gem.
Relaxed atmosphere, courtesy, food, location, gardens, efficient service.
excellent food, very frendly staff, location ideal for absolut relax. as above
The hotel was a a high standard and the staff were exceptionally efficient, helpful and charming. Nothing
Excellent attention to detail, nothing was over looked, absolutely spotless, everywhere ! Fabulous restaurant, menus, and staff.Definitely will recommend. will be back! nothing at all
A fantastic service experience. Beautiful food and calm environment inside and out. Thank you!
Everything. The Hotel had lots of character.
Very friendly staff and the hotel was an interesting place to stay. Epensive wine list and drinks at the bar. I would like for the Hotel to give the true cost of the stay. ie include the service charge in the cost. The general condition of the hotel was a little tired and in the need of refurbishment. The food didn't live up to the awards given. Well with exception of the breakfast, best eggs ever.
We loved the old world feel of the place and loved the gardens. It was home from home.
The personal touch all staff displayed. Attention to detail and the quality of the food.
The location, the staff, the ambience. Lack of indoor facilities e.g. pool, spa. The quality of food and wine was good but perhaps expensive for what it was.
The location was nice allowing guests to have a quiet & relaxing weekend away. The facilitues were very basic - no electric showers, tv or phone in bedrooms & also no keys to lock bedroom doors when guests were out. There was no bar in hotel, very limited choice at breakfast & cooked breakfast was cold.
Very welcoming friendly staff. Quirky. Like staying at friends for the weekend.
just touring and then relaxing in a most convivial atmosphere
A delightful place with a lovely country house atmosphere. The staff are courteous, friendly without being in any way intrusive, and service is excellent. Pride in the family-run enterprise is very evident from the owner, Henry Hodgson. Wonderful food: fresh, local, beautifully prepared and presented. The setting is idyllic. -
Perfect hospitality and 100% service commitment, that's what we found in Currarevagh! We stayed for three days in this lovely, in the best sense old fashioned country house and it was a great pleasure. We had a spacious room which was not only calm, it was quiet! Two times we enjoyed the delicious four course dinner which is celebrated in a very nice and also old fashioned dining room. After dinner every guest is invited to have coffee by the fireside with typical irish turf fire, lovely! Thank you very much indeed June for these three relaxing days!
A place of tranquility in a busy world. Some may find it too quiet(e.g. no TVs in bedrooms) but the peace and the "dark"(no artificial lights from streets or other properties) make for a rather special stay. The owners personal service is "just right",the breakfasts and dinners absolutely spot on and the service of afternoon tea for residents just is the "icing on the cake". Everything is locally sourced or home baked(esp. the bread). The private location on the waterside is idyllic. Though specially attractive as a hotel for fishermen, this is a gem for all who appreciate good quality and service
Currarevagh House is very welcoming, is in a very beautiful location and one feels completely relaxed in luxurious surroundings. Add to this excellent food. This is an ideal place for a special occasion but it may be more appealing to an older age group. No negatives
excellent location, delicious meal, and above all hospitality n/a
we just love the peace beauty & friendship of the place. Also the spoiling, with a smile & the fact that it is an Irish family house.
Made very welcome by owner and wife. They were there to serve you and your requests. Excellent meals and service that you don't find in many hotels these days. Would recommend to others. pleasant quiet surroundings No
I absolutely loved this hotel. It was very charming and traditional and as a foreigner I felt I got to see a hidden side of Ireland. A place I will remember forever and happily recommend.
The location is in remote mature woodland which the architecture of the hotel does not disfigure. It still retains a country house atmosphere, having been in the same ownership for about 25 years. The rooms give the impression of a comfortable private house, but despite ther small scale of the hotel, the menu has a good choice every night, with service by a professional waiter, not a youth. The location, presentation and facilities tend to attract those who have a real interest in seeing this part of Ireland, and not the sort of people who would be happy anywhere with a standard mass-market hotel,no doubt including a spa, swimming pool and child facilities. There was nothing I disliked.
Location and staff
Small County Manor hotel with an excellent personal service
Friendly, well run Nope
The gardens, peace and quiet
A refined and sophisticated hotel - but understated. Excellent dinners which should be advertised more.
the breakfast was excellent and staff very professional the house was old and the rooms needed to be freshen up more. The towels in the room even smelled old.
Just a little off the beaten path, the Ross Lake House Hotel was luxurious without being ostentatious. The staff created the perfect ambiance - striking a perfect balance of formal and friendly. We'd stay again.
