Lovely people who owned it and very nice location Facilities extremely basic and didn't feel very 'clean' - grubby!
A fun, slightly Bohemian place to stay with a welcoming, relaxed and lively atmoshere. Beautiful location, off the beaten track. Lovingly restored old building. Good food at a reasonable price at the restaurant (both dinner and breakfast recommended). Refreshing swim in the outdoor pool (with unrestricted opening hours). The children also liked the rare facility of having playground equipment. We were able to fit our family of 2 adults and 4 (young) children into one room, which was a bonus and helped make this a very good value place to stay. No frills (eg toiletries) and the bedroom had only one high up, small window but then the price was good so not really an issue. Normally I wouldn't particularly like having a campside immediately outside but the atmosphere was great here and it didn't matter at all.
The friendly owners. Excellent food. Tranquility and made to feel part of the family
The food and the relaxed atmosphere. No toiletries in the bathroom.
Location and food were great. We liked the whole atmosphere as it has been done out very nicely. Quite noisy in rooms
the friendly owners, the rustic ambience
Excellent food, family run, very helpful and sociable. Out of the ordinary and very memorable
Fantastic views of surrounding area (from outside of the building). Very peaceful. Very good evening meal but flies everywhere. No window in room expect small skylight in ceiling (especially annoying owing to the inability to see the fantastic views!) Room layout was 2 story with a steep, high ladder leading up to a balcony area where the children's 'camp' style beds were. With young children this was not ideal as the wooden stair was very steep, and the only light switch for this area was at the top of the stairs. So the children would have had to get out of bed in the dark and approach the open stair to find it. If this layout had been made clear we would not have booked this accommodation. Room, although clean, was very basic and looked very "used". Ie. It looked as if only the bare essential room maintenence had been undertaken. Shower area particularly was in need of attention (ie. A good clean of the tiles) - This cannot be excused as "Typical French rustic charm"! Dinner was made a bit of an ordeal by the number of flies in the dining area - we resorted to covering dishes with our napkins to protect it whilst eating. We refused to eat the breakfast owing to the bread, butter, jam etc. being left out on tables for guests, completely uncovered, without any consideration to the many flies (as we witnessed) sitting on it.
Freindly and easygoing, good restaurant basic room
friendly people, small scale, place to stay with children, clean, correct, .... No remarks (we only stay for 2 days)
Initially the woman who ran the hotel was quite accommodating, but that soon ended. We were told we could get WIFI in the bar, so we came down at night to log on. The code did not work so we told the staff (who were running the very under-manned restaurant) who told us they were "too busy" to help us. We all waited an hour until they finally came out to answer our questions and I was told "the code is correct, it is not my fault it won't work" without them even checking the piece of paper we were given to see if it was correct. The people above our room had children who screamed and jumped up and down until midnight. In the morning, after we had told them we needed to leave by 5.45am and have breakfast at 5.30am (which was agreed) We awoke to find no one around and finally a man arrived and told us he was told 6.30am.
