Nice location, great staff and nice rooms. Not enough Parkingplace
The hotel is directly opposite the cathedral, who's clock chimes every quarter of an hour all through the night. Even with the windows closed, there was enough noise to keep me awake until 4:30 am
The Hotel Staff were very nice and the room I had was excellent, in both cleanliness and facilities. I experienced no problems with parking (public parkings available) and enjoyed the fact to do so for only 10 chf per day (tickets available at reception). All in all a very positive experience. Definitely recommendable.
This is a reasonably priced hotel with welcoming and helpful staff. They offer an excellent breakfast and comfortable rooms. We would certainly consider staying here again. Unfortunately the hotel frontage is on the main thoroughfare for traffic passing through the town. Traffic noise at night is a bit of the problem.
Good breakfast as for the simple buffet. Good place in city center. Smell in our room was not so nice. As we stayed on Fri night, it was quite noisy outside around 4am when the clubs closed.
Good value for a comfortable, clean hotel in the old town - easy to get to from the station (either 5 minutes by bus or a 10 minute walk). Fribourg is a good central location for exploring western Switzerland, being only 20 mins. from Bern and 40 mins. from Lausanne by train. Really clean, with comfortable beds, excellent sound-proofing (I heard nothing from other rooms) and really friendly, helpful staff. Breakfast also very good. A minor issue: no air con in the rooms - this did not affect me but might be an issue for some people in the summer.
Reception staff were friendly and helpful. Information regarding restaurant and room service unclear, would have liked to use both but never discovered if open/available. Front bedrooms noisy due to traffic.
location to noisy because of the night club located just outside of our window.Didn,t get much sleep.
Breakfast was very good, with a nice selection of cheeses, hams and fruits. Room service was very helpful.
Location is right next to the old town. Staff is friendly and helpful. Room was large and with a great view from the top floor. We asked for and were given a quiet room. The restaurant is closed on weekends, as are most in the town.
Lack of air conditioning is unacceptable
we are satisfied with every thing of the hotel, especially the splendid breakfast.
Very close to the centre of town and train station which was a plus
The convenience of its location close to the railway station & shopping centre, - we were using public transport, and only staying one night. The hotel was generally rather shabby & "worse for wear" - in need of refurbishment. Fortunately the Irish Pub next door was quiet - make sure you get a room on the opposite side, overlooking the river.
No temperature control for the room heating
Great location - next to Fribourg Centre, train station, city center and old town. Great breakfast. Good/friendly staff to help you. The room was small and space was limited (what do you expect though in EU)
A bit old furniture, expensive wifi (!), paid parking (if you are lucky and park in front of the hotel then 10 CHF per day but if not, you have to park in a double expensive public parking in the underground garage.
Staff were friendly and helpful. Rooms were spacious and clean. breakfast was good. Hotel is located next to one nightclub and above another. noise wasn't too bad but may cause problems for light sleepers. Parking was secure but the card system had problems when we stayed meaning that we couldn't get out and missed a pre-arranged event. Paying to park at a hotel I feel is inappropriate and designed to wring as much money out of you as possible. At least they could hide it in amongst the room charge if they need the money that badly.
New facility, clean, basic. Good for those who want to visit the area at a low cost for accommodation. Restaurant attached to the hotel is excellent. Location is perfect for city center and lake.
The hotel is located close to a medieval village. It's like an outdoor museum, 15th century buildings and walls from the 12th century, and the Castle at the end that is from the 13th century, with flower boxes everywhere.
Very close to the small city center, convenient free parking, complimentary internet in the lobby, nice bar Breakfast was not as good as expected
The lounge and breakfast were really good. Bed and Bad Room very small. Internet connection didn't work.
pleasing contemporary design and helpful staff
far too expensive, small room with poor equipment. Some of them remember second world war.
Very close to the old city and center of the town the service is good and the personal really nice.
place of hotel situated against the city, and restaurant/ bar with the hotel the bed was a bit small, and pillow to soft.
The services and the restaurant(breakfast and bar) were excellent. It was situated at a good stating point for excursions in the city no
The kitchenette appliances were good. The room had a lot storage space. The location was good, not too far from the rail station. The staff were friendly but spoke only French, so communication was not easy. The kitchenette had no utensils, so the good appliances were almost useless. Cleaning was not done all days.
location, cleaniness, frinedly staff (though they could only communicate in French)
nice and clean rooms there was no cot bed available
Good location. A bit noisy from the street.
The location in the center of Fribourg is very nice. The reception was friendly. A hotel with a disco downstairs is not the ideal combination, certainly not on a Friday evening. There is a lot of noise from downstairs and from the street.
location is good, room is good the oven and stove is not working, and there isn't any utensils other than a kettle and 2 cups and saucer and teaspoon
Very centrally located. Nice and clean. Rooms on the (pedestrian) street may be a bit noisy in the evening if Fribourg wins a sport match!
Hotel was very good for the price we paid. Only our room was located at the front side on the first floor. We had a lot of noice from the street. It was not possible to sleep with the window open.
Large room. Excellent location. It was advertised as having wiFi. But we did not know that we needed a code . When we got back to our room at 10 PM, the front desk was not staffed.
Everything is quite comfortable, very calm, clean, the parking place is close to the hotel.
I was with my male colleague and we share the room, but the beds where together (It was a double bed). so its good to put an option on the website to chose which kind of room we want, double room with separate beds or double room with big bed (2 bed together).
I was close to the business I had to do in town. For the price, this hotel needs to be updated.
I was woken up at 01,15 by the front desk for a phonecall which was not for me. I am sure they have a names list of all guest, so this mistake should not happen. Although my room was next to the reception/bar and it was very noisy.
Easy to find from the motorway, easy to get to centre of old Fribourg. Carpets in the room were quite stained, stair carpets worn out
Almost everything; the welcome fromthe staff, the position, the building and its decor, the room were all wonderful. We also had a beautiful meal there in the evening with imaginatively cooked local products and excellent wine list. we would love to go again sometime. The weather!!!!!!!!!!!
I asked why the air conditioning wasn't working. I was told it was ok only to find out that they didn't have air con! In temperatures of 30 degrees plus and in a city, this would have been a prerequisite
Staff attentive, quite comfortable rooms. It's a long walk to the center of town.
The location of the hotel situated by Lake Murtens is quite nice. I would have rated the hotel as 2 or 2 and half * instead of the 3*. The hotel does not have AC, at night the mosquitoes swarmed into the room if we open the windows and the room gets stuffy and hot if we close the windows. The screen still allowed the mosquitoes to get into the room. The towels were thin, worn out, cover was haevy, a weird smell in the room and decor is spartan for a 3* hotel
The room design was different and pleasant. The reception staff were very good, helpful and friendly. Some of the furniture is relatively old and in my opinion could do with a change.
The Hotel is right on the historic centre, which is great. The serre in the breakfastroom gives a breathtaking view of lac Morat. The room was ok, and clean. I would have liked to have the possibility to make coffee and tea in the room. The bathroom was clean, but had no lock on the door.
The location none
We were upgraded on the room, so the view of the lake from the balcony was stunning, as was the furnishing of the suite. The proprietors were exceptionally helpful.
Wonderful balcony! Splendid view! Fantastic room!
This hotel is in an excellent location on the shores of the veery pretty lake of Murten with phantastic views over the lake, the small boat harbour and the surrounding hilly countryside. The restaurant terrace overlooks the lake.Murten is an exquisite historic small town, well worth a visit.
The hotel was too expensive for what it was, we were given an upgrade to a room with a 70' style decor and a massive circular bed. Bathroom very old and hot water was off and on.Rooms definately need to be refurbished.
If you need to stay in Murten, this is an excellent choice because of the location. This is an update to my previous review to change it from rather negative to positive. The item initially was mailed not as a package, but as a regular mail in an ordinary envelope. The envelope broke and that delayed delivery beyond the point I left the country. I have to say that the management went out of their way to remedy the situation and eventually shipped the item to my home country.
Hotel staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Hotel was a bit expensive. Next time I might by pass the town of Murten and stay in Avenches.
Freindly people good breakfast room is clean I booked twin bed with extera bed the extera bed was not avilable but was nice they ofer me exrea room
The staff of the hotel DEcoration of the hotel. No air conditioning
Very nice hotel, good location close to Lake Murten. The room was well equipped and in very good condition.
All the staff were excellent.
Modern architecture and decoration somehow out of the context of the location. Services polite and efficient. Good to find a parking with no cost. Not easy to find and is not really on the border of the lake albeit not too far but no view on it. Checkout at 11 am (preferred 12 pm). Housekeepers too noisy in the morning...
staff were excellent, fair pricing, very clean and comfortable. Unusual design. No real restaurant, but simple bar food available.
Hotel room Breakfast was a bit poor
Very good central position in the small town of Avenches. Attractive medieval buildings and interesting Roman amphitheatre used for opera and other festivals. Easy access to the lakes for steamer trips and not too far to drive to the mountains on a days outing. Breakfasts acceptable but rather haphazard service with items running out and not being readily replaced. Restricted parking outside which could be difficult at busy times, the alternative is the hotel garage parking which is pricey at 25 CHF per day.
no noise; At the breakfast, some piece of bread were stale
the room was very nice, unfortunately for the very large room the beds were a bit small. the staff could be much friendlier and give a warm welcome when you arrive....sad see abovethe prize is quite expensiove for what they offer, also the breakfast buffet could be much nicer organised
Beautiful old hotel in the best possible location on Avenue Central in Avenches (the old roman town of Aventicum), just a few steps from the old roman amphitheatre. Fantastic friendly helpful staff and wonderful coffees. Book to stay here for arena concert events, make sure to ask for parking. Wifi in some rooms very low - take your laptop to the reception lounge to connect.
The very nice location really close to the lake side. 5 minutes drive from Morat/Murten, a very nice café with snacks next to the water (Beach House), the design of the hotel (nice romantic wooden furniture for the hotel areas and modern design for the bedrooms. Last but not least each room has a private terrace. I would have added on the site that the hotel is 100% smoke free (you can smoke on the terrace).
access to garden and view on lake. Also bath tub in room. Rooms are very old with poor decoration but clean.
Location on lake Muntelier rooms not air conditioned which could be a problem in the hot weather
nice repair room with lake view,LCD,room square is 30 m,good breakfast, god impressions like at a see make prices for restoran less
It's great to have the kitchenette and to be able to come and go easily. The location is great too. I think that they used to serve breakfast, but now they don't...or maybe they do, but you have to ask about it in advance. Also, there's no elevator, and some of the rooms require some climbing. The person at the desk carried my bags though.
the friendliness of the staff and location to our work menu choice and price
It was clean and comfortable.
Clean, nice and cosy. Had some querrels with one of the waiters.
A good comfortable hotel with good access to and from the autoroute. The staff were very obliging and were keen to help. A rather limited "snack menu" compared to other Ibis hotels we have stayed at.
Hotel is very close to downtown. Easy access from highway. Absense of breakfast and price/comfort ratio.
A standard Ibis. What's important- new hotel (everything new, clean etc.). Rather near the highway than Fribourg, but still a good place for overnight.
Cleanliness Communication capability of the Front Desk Staff
The room was well prepared. The staff took notice of request to keep the noise level down to zero to placate our cat.
Very nice hotel, nice location and in this winter season the parking is clean Restaurant and Service and wine/food information and meals are just GREAT Congratulation on the chef and his staff
The restaurant was very good
The location was very convenient for us.
nice service, good restaurant. rooms are good standard although all horribly smoky! Big big minus. Every room was apparently smoking room. Although I asked for non-smoking in my reservation - I was given a smoking room that smelled extremely strongly of cigarettes. On top of having allergies for two nights - all my clothes smelled like cigarettes. Very disappointing. Also - the website promised a bath in my room - but I was only given a shower. Otherwise a nice hotel experience was a disappointed due to these factors.
Extraordinary location, a fairy tale like village
Location We received a 40SF fine at 7:40 am for parking on the side of the street overnight in front of the hotel as recommended by the staff person even after I questioned it. She said it would be OK until 10 am.They agreed to take responsibility for the fine since we were misinformed. Furthermore, no one was around until after 10:30 am to settle this - the same reason we were asked to pay in full for 2 days when we first arrived - the desk is rarely staffed. Our room was also changed from 24 to 14. This room required opening a door off the hall and walking between the open washer/dryer room and a draped off laundry area before reaching our door. No explanation was given other than it had been changed. This was not a 3 star experience.
Located in the heart of the town Was looking forward to seeing which of the fancy painted rooms we were going to get only to find we had a beige room. Not happy about that at all. Whole of the floor creaked when walking across it.
Good location in the heart of medieval town, easy to reach from highway (about 5min). Very well equipped room with very comfortable bed. Food options limited to Flammkueche, but the Irish Tavern has all the drinks you want. Breakfast ok. And last but not the least: the staff at the Tavern is unforgettable. I wish I had more time to spend there...
