Very comfy bed and very friendly staff! Shower wasn't separated from the rest of the bathroom, so the entire bathroom floor was soaked.
it was IN the airport terminal The terminal is DEPRESSING. No WINDOWS! It’s like a little luxury prison cell. There was no private area in the hotel to do online work, went to one of the more human feeling pub-like restaurants.
So convient in the south terminal at gatwick. Clean and everything you need for one night. Didn't hear any planes, which I was worried about.
Historic, friendly, easy to get to, staff very helpful. The food was very good, relaxing, a bit expensive, but worth it.
Lovely old inn, beautifully presented and furnished. Excellent food and attentive service. None
The bed and bedding were amazing! In fact I meant to enquire about the make of the Duvet and cover, also the pillows! If someone could let me know, I would really appreciate it!
Excellent food and a really comfortable room
Friendly and helpful staff, comfortable room, excellent kitchen Not much to do in the village
The friendly staff, the clean rooms, pleasant surroundings.
Food and service superb Traffic noise woke us up maybe secondry glazing
We were upgraded to a four poster room on arrival. Extremely old and attractive hotel with lots of history. Breakfast was poor and thought it should have been served in the dining room and not in the bar which is ok for a meal in the evening. Hotel is on a reasonably busy road but not really a problem.
Lovely hotel, great atmosphere, nice bar and restaurant. Food was absolutely delicious! Staff friendly. Very noisy. I had read about the noise from the road but thought it would be allright since I am not that difficult but the noise from the road is bad. It's an old building with single glazing on a busy road. Noise from the restaurant below in our bedroom as well. You could almost hear what people were saying. Still, very lovely hotel with great food, drinks, rooms etc. but the noise is there.
The Tudor Parlor is a great room. The Tudor Parlor is right above a grandfather clock which chimes very loudly every hour. The restaurant food is average - don't expect gourmet.
The rooms were of a high standard of decor and cleanliness didnt like being told where to sit for breakfast?
Ease of reach from airport, stunning venue, clean spacious accommodation
Food, Drink and Sex. Not neccesarily in that order!
The food was fantastic, service was exemplarary. it wasn't a bad thing, but as we paid less for our room, we felt like it a bit in that our room was out on one of the wings near the conference centre.
Everything, it was wonderful.
Quite unique, in fact a very pleasant surprise
The staff very friendly (not overly so) and helpful. Ambience, delightful. The room charming and spacious If I were to be pinicky, the bacon was a little on the salty side for my taste ! (I dont use salt )
The Hotel was a mix of an older building and a more recent addition. Overall the Hotel was quiet, the staff when spoken to were polite. The room was spacious and well set out. Alas our stay was rather short? At check out time we found it rather slow as we had many others in line with us. Then a lady resident interjected the process which took the staff member away from check out duties for awhile until the resident was dealt with. Management should be more aware, and provided help to the yound man operating the check out desk at Mid Morning.
This was a magnificent location and the staff and service was wonderful-
the polite and helpful staff and the attention to detail
Friendly helpful staff and the hotel is in lovely grounds with good access to Gatwick airport.
Very enjoyable stay. Rooms are in a nicely converted stable yard 50 yards behind the pub. Good pub food.
Excellent room and facilities. Good food. Very well looked after.
Excellent , food, service, cleanliness and comfort. Pleasant staff would go again.
The owners remembered we had stayed before and greeted us accordingly. Rooms are pleasingly clean. Room could do with a coat of paint and attention to the sqeaky bed is needed. However we did not tell the managers,as we didnt want to upset them! The rooms could be on the verge of sliding into the needing attention category and not the award winners of 2006. Please dont let this decent place decline.
Friendly welcome and helpful staff, room was clean and comfortable. Food in restaurant was excellent.
Outstanding food, excellent accomodation, and naturally friendly service. None
Comfortable bed, friendly, helpful staff, excellent food A little pricey
High quality of fixtures, fittings and consumables in room Restaurant prices quite high
We booked for our 20th Wedding Anniversary as a last minute luxury break, largely based on the the reviews and were not disappointed - everything was fabulous - even the weather! The high points were definitely the friendly, efficient staff, the amazing food and the lovely room - we will definitely return.
The Softel is less than five minutes walk from the Gatwick check-in desks via a slopped covered walkway. The staff were efficient and the atmosphere throughout warm and friendly. An excellent place to spent the before an early flight, I would definitely stay again.
There wasn't anything not to like. We arrived at 7.00 pm and left at 5.00 a.m. Did not like the restaurant. We booked a table and the food was not up to the standard we would have expected.
The location is excellent. Staff were efficient but a little arrogant. Problems connecting to the internet in the room. The connection was very slow. The location of the room safe at floor-level is ridiculously inconvenient. The safe did not work. I'll try the Hilton next time.
The lovely atrium and the easy access to Gatwick airport together with helpful and friendly staff.
Staff were friendly. Room very clean. Beds comfortable, not sagging in my middle as some are. Excellent location for Gatwick airport travellers. Good restaurants. Priced reasonably. They view! But cannot help that. But the large windows were nice.
Convenient location on airport Price of room service breakfast
location to the terminal restaurant was expensive
Ease of accessing the internet
location was why I selected this hotel. location was excellent Very expensive!
The best part was the access to the airport which allowed us to wake up and check in easily. The location was fantastic and the staff were very very helpful. Will definitely use this hotel everytime i am flying out of gatwick.
Ease and access to airport None
Friendly staff, basic but comfortable rooms
Free use of Wifi, and the relaxed atmosfere in the lounge bar first night i was sleeping at the front side of the hotel, which is quite noisy, because of the mainstreet, but specially the bar which was right below me. My room was reschedualed for the following days. Perfect
the noise from the nigh club below, and staff were just as confused as the guests when the fire alarm went of at 2am.
The hotel is attractive from the outside and very convenient for Guildford centre The lights didn't work in one room. The bathrooms were tiny. The hot water took a long time to come through in the morning. There was no breakfast on Sunday before 8 am and no room service. There was no room to park in the car park. There was a noisy function taking place. The room was cold in the middle of the nigh.
Fast check in/out. Good standard comfotable room, very clean. Reasonable parking. Location is excellent for shopping. No minibar or water in room
Nice airy room, clean, ditto the restaurant Not sure I'd call the restaurant a restaurant in terms of menu - was more like bar food, but was good
The location We were unable to use the car park as it was closed for a private function.
The room was very quiet and comfortable and the hotel is in an excellent location for the town centre. I also like the bar - very chilled!
Very helpful and friendly staff Rether dear breakfast in pretty souless interior design, perhaps rates should be B&B?
Lovely large room at the rear of the hotel, very quiet, we were upgraded on arrival Nothing
Classy establishment, beautifully maintained, very attractive pricing, excellent staff None really, though it is a remote location. You'll need a car if you want to visit a pub or another restaurant
Good clean conference hotel. Food was fair. Room was excellent. Nothing
Staff, the architecture, rooms deco The noise and delay at restaurant the noise from the room next door, bad isolation for noise and cold from simple glass window
Wonderful garden Food not fabulous but acceptable checkout time of 9am too early
The staff were very attentive and the hotel is very comfortable ,set in lovely grounds and well furnished
Beautiful surroundings. Very comfortable and interesting building. Fabulous gardens. Staff friendly. Minor point - This was a birthday celebration the drinks cooler in the room was faulty so we could not chill a bottle of bubbly. However, a member of staff provided an ice bucket which was sufficient. a later than 10:30 check out on Sunday would have been appreciated in order to have time to enjoy the lovely gardens during/after breakfast.
Loved the character of my room was in the Courtyard.
The location and atmosphere Like so many hotels the bathroom shower taps are not easy to use
Charge for WIFI internet access. Many hotels, some much smaller, do not charge.
Loads of character, beautiful gardens and helpful staff. Dinner service is mainly for conferences and not so good for solo diners. Expensive.
Nice rural location in a nice building I feel that the rooms are a little of a let down for the price and setting. Fairly basic rooms a valence sheet to cover the divan base would appear the appearance of the room. Bathroom was clean but lacked a fresh feel to it.
The Hotel is very comfortable and the gardens are lovely. The Staff were helpful and efficient but you never felt that your privacy was invaded by them.
All round excellent. Clean, modern facilities in a period building that still retains its character. Excellent gym and pool. Best was the staff - when the PCs went down in the business centre I was offered use of the computer behind the reception. It's a pity I wasn't there in daylight so coundn't enjoy the lovely gardens.
leisure facilities room too hot
I was very impressed with this hotel. It was a joy to see that the photo's on the website were not misleading and the setting was amazing.
Early check in, location was great Bed was quite soft. Check out time was 10.30 which was quite early.
Good facilities, friendly and helpfull staff.
very attractive hotel, room was very nice and clean, room service food was good, great price was not informed when i booked that the pool etc is only for over 18s except for a few hours a week - my son had been looking forward to swimming, would suggest that they put a couple of hours a day aside for under 18s staying at the hotel
Leisure facilities Breakfast was a bit chaotic
Situation, access, calm, comfort. Restaurant (dinner): certainly not the level of a 4 stars hotel.
The layout inside is good and easy to find way around. The fact that the mini-bar seemed to cause all sorts of problems on check-out, just because we had moved cans around to make way for our own water. Seems we weren't the only ones - other people complaining when we checked out that they had been charged for things they hadn't had.
Friendly staff, good rooms, very good breakfast
Location was ideal for me, pool etc all good , large bar & food area, comfortable
Good breakfast - lots of choice, Spa facilities good and not busy. Staff were unhelpul upon arrival. Pictures of the hotel were not true to the actual hotel & rooms- disappointing.
The room was dirty and had not been cleaned in places.
The staff were very friendly
hotle staff and facilities are very good n/a
The room was large and it had all the necessary funiture. The same apply for the bathroom and the room was well cleand and tidy. The hair dryer was not working properly and it was a very cheap selection. The toilet seat didn't have the sterilised seal. Also when I cheked out I was about to be charged for another room due to staff mistake.
Easy to find location from website and is signposted when on the approaching road. Polite friendly staff and clean hotel.
The staff is very friendly and hard working The trains are very loud
the mattress and bedding was excellent paying for the parking
wide and clean room The reservation through Arora hotel web site does not work.
Charged for 2 breakfast but was alone. Should have asked me first before charging.
Clean and wide room very low water pressure from the tap
It's in a great central location, so you can go out in Crawley & eat/drink/shop etc. Even though it's next to the railway line, we didn't hear the trains. Hotel decoration lovely, very clean, very helpful staff and it has excellent facilities. Our room was very spacious & they'd thought of everything. En-suite was huge compared to other hotels, it had a separate bath & shower. Lots of thought had been put into the design & comfort of the room/hotel. Really pleased with the hotel & we'd definately stay there again, especially if we were taking our daughter, as there are connecting rooms. Also have a shuttle bus to Gatwick airport which is really close by, but again didn't hear any noise from the planes.
Very near the railway station -
close to station, high standrad of facilities, excellent food.
Convienent location Dreadfull catering & and catering staff
Generally good, but WiFi sign in system a hassle and card swipe door keys real pain rarely if ever worked first time and usually took 3-4 tries at least.
The staff was incredibly kind and helpful. We could only find one working ice machine in the hotel. The bed bugs we encountered weren't very pleasant either.
The hotel is tired. Thankfully, I was upgraded to a newer room. Mattress is super hard. To get to the room, you must walk tons. The hotel needs serious renovation. Because options are limited for overnight flight.
The convenience of the location, the beds were very comfortable. Our air conditioner was broken when we arrived and the room was incredibly hot. The engineer was very nice and apologized quickly and requested a room change. It then took concierge a further hour to relocate us (10 rooms down the hall). At which point our children were completely starving and exhausted. The food in the garden restaurant buffet was mostly good, though expensive, but we were seated in a dark corner because we were a family, where the staff were already setting the tables for breakfast around us. Service was polite but very slow and waiters were unaware of the fact that children ate for free.
The best part of this hotel is that it is so close to the London Gatwick hotel it may as well be a part of it. Very convenient! There could be a few more amenities to may the stay more memorable.
Proximity to airport The hotel is terribly maintained. Had to switch rooms twice due to bathroom related maintenance issues. They finally put me in a decent room on the executive lounge, which was OK but even that had its issues. AC was terrible and the spacing between the bathroom sink and faucet was very awkward, making it difficult to effectively wash your hands. All in all a pretty bad hotel. The staff was nice though.
Restaurant way over priced. Not many options for a reasonable, casual meal.
Location and staff very old decor in room and bathroom, the bed was uncomfortable, missing towels and only one set of pillows were provided
Our reservation was not in the system. They did not give us access to Internet for our booking but we understood that free Internet would be included based on the booking criteria.
Great location A little pricey!
Location and very comfortable bef Everything is fine for me
a comfortable base for visiting friends in the Guildford area
It was a beautiful suite of rooms and the website did not do it justice. We had a lovely two night stay.
Splendid historic coaching in but with all mod cons! Loved it!
