The location in Athens is great, and the value for the money is superb. And best of all - this hotel is PET FRIENDLY! Parking is a bit cramped when the hotel gets busy (like the 6 wedding weekend we witnessed).
Customer service, design, layout of property. Busload of highschool kids sports team staying beside and above me were quite rowdy, but hotel staff was able to quiet them after about an hour.
1 hour late check out allowed Carpet smelled like chemicals used to clean up animal waste. I stayed on 2nd floor which is to be no pets. Saw people 2 doors down taking their small dog outside. I saw them coming out of the room on the 2nd floor.
Really close to downtown Athens Right across the street from housing projects but there was a security guard in the parking lot all night long
The hotel is walking distance to downtown Athens and UGA. Clean room, friendly staff, decent breakfast.
Location to UGA. I was horrified when i got into bed to find bed bugs. I tooks photos and the front desk came up to my room to confirm them. They put me in a handicap room next to the elevator and that was so noisy I only slept 4 hours. With the bed bugs and then the noisy room, that was the worst stay overnight I have had - and I have travelled to many countries and cities and many hotel rooms. That was my worst experience ever.
Location Lication Location everything good!
Our friendly desk clerk, Baranda, was very helpful and found a room for us that would do and honored the rate that was quoted on Booking.com. SHE took care of us and next time I will just call direct when I need a room. Proximity to UGA was great and the breakfast was fine. When we showed up we didn't have a reservation. I had my receipt and booking number from BOOKING.com but they didn't have a room for us. Not sure who dropped what file. I will call the hotel directly from now on.
Lots of parking and close to downtown.
Staff was great. Two outlets in the room didn't work. Coffee maker but no coffee in room
The staff were wonderful, very concerned that wehad an enjoyable stay. We were having car trouble and they were willing to extend our stay for the same rate, same room. Fortunately, we did not have to extend our stay but would have been happy to do so. Would have enjoyed an indoor pool. Also the onsite restaurant was closed for lunch on Saturday, but that was the only time we really needed to take advantage of the lovely cafe. This was Thanksgiving weekend and UGA was not at home, so the hotel was very slow. We understand.
Great room. Dinner in restaurant was delicious!
Staff was very friendly and informative. Room service was fast and tasty. Location is great and super convenient to downtown / college campus area. Bed pillows were not comfortable and sheets did not have the crisp made bed with perfect edges appearance. Not the most comfortable bed either.
We specifically requested a high floor with a view and were placed on the second floor overlooking the AC units. The hotel was loud at all hours of the night. The bed was uncomfortable despite being "adjustable", which didn't change anything. Also we woke up to charges on our credit card for parking at $10 a night that was not disclosed to us upon reservation nor check in.
Hotel was very clean comfortable and nice! Breakfast was little cold.
Location Service was awful. When I asked for an extra ice bucket, they told us we could get it ourselves at the bar. They then gave us the wrong room and we walked in on a naked woman. Turns out they comped the woman in the room for a free night and didn't even apologize to us. Never again.
i paid $400 for 3 nights to take my girlfriend to athens,ga for her birthday. when we arrived there were 4 busses of school kids in town for an event so for the 1st and 2nd day we had kids running up and down the halls most of the time. we also got a room right by an elevator so we got to hear people getting on and off that all night. every morinng they would start cleaning around 8:30-9am so we couldnt even sleep in. the last morning we were there was a sunday morning and even tho we tried to call the day before to ask for a late check out, they said we had to call the morning of. to me that defeats the purpose of getting a late check out bc you still have to wake up and call. anyways we woke up and called and asked for a late check out only to find out that they had so many new people checking into this hotel on a sunday night that werent allowed to get one, even when we told them it was my girlfriend's birthday. ill NEVER stay at this hotel ever again. this was supposed to be a 3 star hotel and ive stay at hotels that were half the cost and they were alot more quiet and pleasant to stay at than this place. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME
Bugs all over the place and the guy at the desk was almost unspeakably rude. I'd rather sleep in my car.
Cleanliness and value Location
Breakfast was good Room smelled of paint. shower nob came off in hand when turned
F&B was great. Local beers on tap! Rusty was awesome. Engaged all of the guests he walked by. N/A
Very clean and modern. Staff gave us free parking and drink vouchers when our room wasn't ready on time. Walking distance to anything important in Athens. For the price, there should be a microwave and mini-fridge in the room.
Suited our needs for a place to sleep the night we were in town. Close to restaurants and gas stations. Rooms interior was dated.
Friendly staff. Great location. Horrible a/c (too loud). Rusted out fridge. The room was non smoking but smelled strongly of cigarette smoke covered in air freshener. Gross carpet
Bed and hot shower $160 for 1 night
The manager Holly was extremely nice and very helpful. The room was very nice the beds were soft the shower was excellent. The tv was great pillows were nice. Plenty of time to check out with a 12pm check out time. The coffe in the room wasn't the best.
Good Breakfast, assortment of options well done.
Jerrod at the front desk was extremely helpful . He went out if his way to make sure things were taken care of. I was having trouble printing boarding passes and he stepped right in and got it done. Great personality!
The room size was great, sitting area separate from sleeping area. The bathe room very big, lots of towels and great water pressure in the shower. The sheets had stains on them. The pillows were very very small. The room had a funny smell, they should consider cleaning the vents.
The staff great you with smiles and are more than happy to help make your stay pleasant with suggestions of activities, restaurants and sights to see. An older hotel that is clean and maintained. We feel we got a great value for our money.
Great hotel for a football weekend. Clean room and nice location with good selection of restaurants. Breakfast was average...nothing to write home about. Biscuits were a little dry and hard.
Great location. I was dropped off by my daughter so I didn't have a car for the night. Construction required me to walk about 150 yards down a dark, public street to get to my room.
Pretty much nothing. This place is gross. I wasn't expecting a 4 star hotel, but wow, I was really disappointed. It did seem like it was partially under reconstruction, but it looked like exterior work. They need to bulldoze the place and build a new one. I've stayed at Best Westerns before, and they were alright, but I'm never taking a chance on one again. This place is just gross all around. The room smelled dank and musty. The neon light above the sink was shorting out, and was like a disco strobe-light when I turned it on. So I wasn't able to use the mirror above the sink. When I arrived, the bathmat was on the floor in front of the bath, and it was wet, and dirty. I think when they cleaned the room, they forgot to finish the bathroom.
Nice, affordable room. everything seemed pretty clean, Comfy beds and good A/C, quick access to downtown Athens. Super friendly and pleasant staff. Their building a new building in front of the old. The old building is definitely dated and there are signs of some odd refurbishments over the years. (light-switch plates cut in half to accommodate new wall etc.)
Rooms were very clean and crisp. Staff was very friendly and professional.
My car was broken in to and the man at the front desk was no help and didn't even care
location water orange all through shower. worn in. it was a football weekend so everything sells out at a premium.
Clean rooms Need to fix the tub draining
I liked being able to leave. The defining characteristic of our stay was that our room smelled really, really bad. Luckily we were only there to sleep. Every time I would wake up even briefly in the night I was reminded that we were staying in a really foul smelling place. The odor was overpowering. We noticed it immediately when we walked into the room and almost went to request another room but we had things to do and knew we would only be spending a few hours there and that all we would be doing was sleeping.
Clean bathroom, easy check in, plenty of free parking Smoky smell in corridors, uninspiring breakfast, inflexible check out time
Staff were very helpful. No pillowcases on any of the pillows when I checked in, staff gave them to me. The TV wasn't working and had to have staff help with that...they indicated there were numerous people with the same issues...the cable isn't good there. Room smelled funny...had to air it out. Lobby was old and kinda crummy.
My wife and I had the most comfortable stay at this hotel. The staff were all very pleasent and most helpful. Facilities and amenities were exellent. We will gladly stay at Candlewood Suites Athens again.
Found this relatively new, clean, comfortable hotel for a reunion trip. While it's outside town on highway to Atlanta, well worth the extra few minutes to get there.
From the moment of our arrival, we were very impressed with the Candlewood Suites. It is located a bit west of downtown, but not far from the Georgia Mall. The only decent hotels near downtown and the UGA campus tend to be very pricey, but you can have an excellent quality room at an affordable rate for a ten-minute ride on Atlanta Highway. The staff, facilities, and rooms are top quality. We can live without a pool or a fancy restaurant, so we'll pocket the savings from staying at Candlewood and use it to have a nice dinner downtown when we're back in Athens.
Wonderfully comfortable room, super kitchen setup worked great for eating in since we were trying to save a buck. Front desk is not manned continually so initial check-in was a little slow.
At arrival the key given to us was for someone else's room. We had to wait for a while until they figure out what happened without an apology. We were given a room with a queen bed, our reservation said king.
My husband and I spent one day at this Hotel, we got a room with a small kitchen, it was very clean. Bed was very comfortable, and staff was very nice. I would recommend this location for any couple, single or families. ;)
My suite was so nice! Queen bed, recliner, desk, extra seating, decent sized flat screen, DVD player, kitchenette with full sized microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, dishes and utensils, etc. My only complaint isn't on the hotel itself, but a group decided the lobby was a good place to congregate one night and they were very loud (which is a problem at many hotels...what is with these people that wander around hotels at night? Common courtesy, people!). Also, the room above me was apparently rented out to a herd of elephants. I was on the first floor though, so I recommend getting a room on the top floor if possible. Then I'm sure your stay will be perfect.
The air conditioning did not work in the first room they gave me, so had to change rooms. In the second one I was greeted by a rather large roach. No, don't think I'll stay there again.
Clean and functional extended stay hotel. Room was very roomy with fridge, small cook top, and microwave.
The facility was very nice. The amenities in the hotel and the room were great. The kitchen was the nicest one I have seen in any similar hotel. The staff was friendly and helpful.
I stayed at the Candlewood for two nights and it was definitely somewhere that I would stay again. The room was huge and very clean. The staff at the front desk was incredibly helpful. We had a great time staying here and if I ever get back to Athens, I'll be staying there again.
The hotel is either new or newly remodeled. The rooms were spacious with a large desk and a very comfortable bed. The kitchennette was small but clean, and the bathroom was clean as well.
