Pros: Great accommodation for small groups wanting two rooms - we had two doubles and a shared bathroom behind our own front door. There's a communal kitchen where you can help yourself to breakfast, fruit and cereals, which was an unexpected bonus. They did the castle tour and found it very interesting. All in all a very enjoyable trip to celebrate a 75th birthday.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: I stayed at this B&B with my friend in the twin room room, which was very pleasant and everything we needed for our short stay in Ballina for our friends wedding nearby. The room was very clean, nice private shower from the landing and everywhere spotless. Host Mary has to be one of the best parts of this B&B, she was very friendly from the beginning, always going the extra mile. Even before I arrived at the B&B Mary, she was able to help me with some things through email, very quick to respond and helpful. She was able to recommend a local taxi company (Jim’s cabs) which we used throughout our stay. I would recommend using them if you need a taxi as they were very reliable, good prices and helped us with all our journeys we needed throughout our weekend. Mary’s B&B is a Home to home experience, it was like visiting a relative. I cannot emphasise enough how nice Mary was as a host, she makes you feel welcome, offers you tea, orange juice (as I don’t like hot drinks) and even scones. Mary was up for a chat and interested in getting to know us as her guests. Mary’s breakfast was great so many options from cereal, selection of breads including potato cakes, soda bread, fruit salad, pancakes, Irish breakfast and of course some poached eggs. Great choice of tea, coffee and juices. The breakfast always looked great, with so much eye to detail. Overall I really enjoyed my stay and recommend that staying in a small B&B was a nice change from usually staying in chain hotels in the UK. You will not be disappointed visiting this B&B. Close to the town which is only a 20 minutes walk away. Thanks Mary for having us :)
Cons: There was not anything I did not like.
10.0 Excellent

6.3 Good
Pros: Breakfast was fantastic. I opted for the in-room dining option as the view from my room over the river was very relaxing and nice to look at while having my tea, porridge, fresh fruit, poached eggs, toast, etc. Great selection and all very good quality ingredients.
Cons: Although the Ice House was a pleasant enough stay, having stayed at other 4 star spas in Ireland and elsewhere around the world, overall I found that it was not worth the hype or the costs. The foyer and room is impressive upon first entry, but the reception staff were all consistently very cold and abrupt and gave you the 'icy' feeling that you were interrupting their day and an inconvenience by merely showing up. The kitchen and bar staff were much friendlier and welcoming but clearly overworked as it took them a good 10 minutes to acknowledge and seat me after my reserved time slot. But I dined there on two evenings and the food was fantastic and staff very friendly and conscientious and paid much attention to detail. The spa facilities such as the thermal cycle are nice and well kept but very minimal. The outdoor area and hot tubs are lovely with a calming view of the river Moy, but unfortunately it is not private and you occasionally open your eyes to see a pedestrian or group of people on the pavement above looking down and gawking at you in your swimwear. This layout of the facilities is puzzling and does not lend itself to serenity or privacy. Another case in point: the restaurant patio overspills below the rooms and I was startled one evening while getting dressed to hear screaming toddlers below my window running from the restaurant. The hotel is child friendly which, although beneficial for families who are travelling and for some reason want to take their kids to a spa hotel, it is distracting and disturbing for guests who simply want quiet and to relax without the sounds of screaming kids. It's like the Icehouse is trying to be too many things to too many people all at once and needs to refocus on who is its main clientele.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was fab. All the staff so friendly and helpful. Food was amazing. Ate in the bistro both evenings. Got treatments in the spa too which were fab the girls were excellent and very professional.

Cons: Music in restaurant a bit obtrusive

Thank you Ice House for a lovely night away where you made us feel very special.
7.5 Good

Cons: Mattress was ok but could be firmer
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Enniscoe is a wonderful house set in parkland with a great views. There are walks over the estate and down to the lake. Staying at Enniscoe is like stepping back in time. There are no TVs, just comfortable rooms and lots of peace and quiet. This is a unique place to stay, full of history and family knickknacks. The staff are friendly, and Susan and DJ are wonderful hosts.
Cons: Some people would find the house too quiet with insufficient access to electrical gadgets.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A wonderfully unique and gracious country house with charming hosts. Plus the best food of our entire trip. Make sure you book for dinner! The house is being beautifully restored. I was totally enchanted with the part of the Victorian walled garden set aside to grow organic produce and its beds of comfrey to make green manure and willow for basket making. Our hosts, Susan and son DJ went out of their way to make us feel at home.
Cons: It was all wonderful.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was pet friendly
5.5 Okay
Pros: Beautiful old house with very friendly hosts. Gorgeous setting.
Cons: No facilities in the room, not even drinking water. The price of the evening meal was not available unless asked for which felt difficult to do, and it was extremely expensive though very tasty.
2.9 Mediocre
Cons: No tea or coffee making facilities in room. No TV. Nothing to do in the area which as very isolated. Only option was reading as books in every room. Dinner disappointing. Only 2 choices of main course. My partner ordered rhubarb crumble for dessert and we waited 20 minutes or more but it never arrived. We were the only 2 in the dining room so not run off their feet. Venue might some for retrest type break but not for us. Very disappointed. Was meant to stay 2 nights but checked out after 1.
7.9 Good

Cons: Breakfast service very slow
8.0 Excellent

Pros: Loved the location and the décor Old mansions and historical buildings interest me
Cons: There was nothing I did not like about my stay Only concern I had was a Health and Safety issue regarding the floor Boards in the room no 30 we stayed in as there was a large gap between floor boards outside door and bigger gap on inside door and my heal of my shoe went down hole and I almost fell but thankfully my partner caught my hand and held me . I did mention this concern to reception staff as we were checking out . would not like anyone to have accident in such a beautiful place . I would most definitely would like to visit again in the near future.

Pros: We loved the ambience in the bar, especially the wonderful Irish music on Tuesday evening. The informal welcoming atmosphere created a modern blend of perfect hospitality in classical surrounding. Great tea! The ‘White Co’ products great, but how about large pots which will be chargeable if taken away( like Cowshed Products at the Soho Houses hotels?)
Cons: My mother complained of a noisy ‘boiler?’ in Room 9 in the night,Room 5 was perfectly quiet so we swapped rooms.

Pros: As we needed to find a dinner spot, we asked our host for a recommendation. Following her specific , detailed directions we found the restaurant easily. The food and service were excellent. We then visited another special local place (also suggested and highly recommended) to complete a lovely evening. Our host's local knowledge was invaluable. Thank you. Our room was quiet, peaceful and comfortable. We reluctantly took to the road, fueled with a generous, delicious breakfast . Too short a stay.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice room in a peaceful location, surrounded by green fields. Outstanding bathroom.
2.9 Mediocre
Pros: There is nothing I could really say that I liked about this facility. First off it was extremely hard to find. Anybody I asked for directions, never heard of it. The bedroom was of very low standard with no en suite facility . The room was cold & insufficient bed linen. The owners were elderly & in my opinion not really suitable to this type of business. The lady of the house tried to be helpful but didn't meet my requirements. This was booked for me by my friend as it was close to the area I needed to be for an appointment, as she thought.!!! I had travelled from Egypt early the previous day & then drove from Dublin to here straight after landing the following day , so as you can imagine, I was extremely tired & hungry. I wanted to go out for something to eat & was told not to, as I wont find my way back. I then asked if I could get a delivery sent to the house, but again I was refused. She made a pizza for me, but it wasn't edible. It was still frozen in parts. When it came to breakfast there was very little I could have due to religion. I definitely feel this B & B should be looked into before further bookings are taken for it.
Cons: Everything
