Hotel staff interest
sleep - having breakfast
This hotel is nice and good price The bathroom is small no have hair dry, more towel
Monclus has a great location The building is old, and no air conditioning
It was very close to the bus and train stations which is what I needed. Right down town in the heart of Palencia.
I liked this hotel. The room was spacious, clean. No airco, not even een fan. Outside temperature: 40 degrees C. This hotel should not be booked in mid-summer. Rest of year ok!
the cleanliness and changing of sheets and towels daily not having a bar
friendlyness of the staff, we did not speak spanish, but the staff were great.
Welcoming staff. Good breakfast pastries and coffee - good value too. Easy walk to city sights and an attractive park Tricky to find. Tricky underground parking. Most spaces suited to small cars . Most floors hard surfaces and therefore footfalls echoed.
Reception staff were friendly & helpful, despite the language barrier! The room was clean, quiet & comfortable. Breakfast was one pastry, a coffee & a glass of juice so not very good value.
Central to Palencia within walking distance of the centre and the old town. Parking was easy. The Hotel was excellent but we failed to find a decent restaurant in the old town. The town was worth a visit.
We used the hotel going to Portugal and on the way back, It was nice to have such an upmarket hotel so close to the motor way. Smoking room, room service.
kind staffs and resonable price the way to the hotel from the highway is not easy to find in the night.
Position was good as we were travelling, Hotel was clean and comfortable, food in the bar was good and reasonable priced. Above comment on hotel staff only referred to the bar steward who was rude and abrupt, treated us differently from the Spanish guests ( no nuts and olives with drinks). He did not try to be helpful or make us feel comfortable and welcolme. In contrast the receptionist was most pleasant and helpful.
Very convenient location enroute Northern Spain to the South and Portugal. Excellent restaurant. Regular guests for past few years.
Covient to Motorway, Good quality Hotel Only persons in restaurent. Did not know that food could be served in bar
This hotel is a fabulous stop over travelling either North or South, because of its easy access to the motorway. The staff are wonderful and the food is excellent. We stayed with 2 dogs and were made very welcome. The rooms are spacious, airy and clean. The lounge and bar areas are tastefully decorated. Would definitely stay in the future. Great value!! The only complaint would be that the air conditioning didn't work very well. The room was very warm but we had the windows open so it was fine.
we did not like being rushed during our meal, (asking us about puddings ) while we are still eating our main meal, no offer of coffee and nothing available after 11pm, drinks ect, this is not the first time we have used this hotel but i think it will be the last.
large comfortable room and bathroom also the hotel furnishings ectetera gave us a feeling of grandure of the past
Instructions were good on location of site, the straff were friendly and helpful and the restaurant ok. My wife and I stayed here on our way home from a holiday in spain, I have to say that we were both disappointed with the beds and nether of us slept during our one night at the hotel, we founds the beds to be hard and uncomfortable.
Location - close to the Auditorium Miguel Delibes, nice sleeping block around. Quiet at the nights. Staff speak Spanish only, it's ok for me, but would be better to study English. They need some redecorating as well...
excellent room and facilities
Good location, excellent value for money, friendly and helpful staff The staff did not really speak English.
The friendly staff, good breakfast
Modern and quiet Apartment Hotel, out of the City centre but well linked with public transports. Staff absolutely ok. In my case, I had a suite composed of living room, bedroom, bathroom and kitchen, at a price that in many cases other hotels can't offer for a single room. Not a 4-star, but definitely far above the 3-star average. Very suitable for medium/long stays. Maybe internet could be free...
It is an aparthotel so we had a kitchen. The downside is that we didnt have any plate or pots to cook with.
as we were on our way back to Santander it was very convenient to Autoroute. It could have been anywhere as was typical Novotel, but good for all that. restaurant was overpriced, especially for breakfast
fantastic spacious rooms, nice pools not very easy to find and a little too far from the centre
Staff was really nice, rooms were confortable. restaurant also good. This is not a negative but it's a pitty that in summer witha temperature of 32 degrees aoutside at 20h the swimming pool closes and the inner pool that is not in the hotel but outside was also closed in the weekend.
The hotel was modern and comfortable and the staff were very helpful. This isn't the hotel's fault but we had difficulties finding the hotel and getting to it. Signposts for the hotel were not always clearly visible and then when we saw one, we found ourselves in the wrong lane in dense traffic and had to drive past our turnoff. We went round in a few circles before we actually managed to get to the hotel. However, once we found it, we had no further problems!
The staff was always friendly and helpful. They gave great recommendations for area activities and restaurants. Our room was nicely decorated, clean and comfortable. I would definitely stay there again.
Very nice staff, always ready to help.
Location, ease of parking, price, cleanliness, children friendly... all positive
Staff & facilities
The comfort of the hotel, the pool because it was so hot and the staff were extremely friendly
This is a great hotel. Very welcoming, english speaking reception staff. A great bar and restaurant although breakfast is too expensive. Rooms spacious but hot! A short walk to local shops and cafe's. A short taxi ride to Plaza Mayor. We have stayed here a few times recently and always had a good time. Price of breakfast. Mini bar prices.
The hotel is freshly renovated in a very contemporary way. It is well managed, clean and comfortable. I particularly enjoyed a huge bathtub separated from rest of the room with a glass wall. Very cool! I was moved from a room to another without much explanation.
The hotel is modern and clean. bathroom was very good and the beds very comfortable. The room as usual in Spanish city hotels was a bit small. The staff were extremely helpful and pleasant. The heating/cooling system was difficult to control. The access by car was difficult; although the hotel is on Plaza Espana its entrance is in the alley behind and it isn't obvious how to drive to the garage. The access to the garage is by elevator and requires some skill!
very good hotel
new windows opening system
The very large and comfortable bed, the very friendly and helpful staff, the convenient parking, the good value, the central and convenient location. The only think I did not like is the glass-walled bathroom. Even the toilet was visible from parts of the room. This could be a deal-breaker for some people. Performing one's ablutions in full view of someone else is not everyone's cup of tea. Even so, I'd still recommend this hotel because it redeems itself in every other way.
room interrior, cleaness, location the receptionist Ramiro - he was ignorant and not friendly at all
The hotel has a very good location in central Vallidolid. The hotel and the rooms are very comfortable and well decorated. The manager is particularly friendly and helpful.
Location in the town center
We liked very much the location (so close in Plaza mayor and all the nice restaurants) and the friendly welcome by the hotel owner, Roberto, who explained to us everything about the sights and the restaurants of the town. I am so sad that we did not visit the paella restaurant that Roberto suggested, but we'll definitely do that the next time! Hotel was nice and clean and I especially liked the atmosphere of city at night (many people at the streets, bars and restaurants until late at night). Not all hotel personnel can speak English well, but this is not a big deal: we got used to this at Valladolid and I it's good that I started practicing my spanish! Satellite TV was almost impossible to watch almost each of the 4 days that we stayed: signal had periodic interruptions.
Relation price/location is great, hotel a few steps away from Plaza Mayor. It's only downside is if you travel by car. It's hard to park the car in the hotel surroundings, and leaving the car in one of the city parks can cost you more that you night at this hotel. (!!!)
The location was amazing. Right beside the main square. The manager was also very friendly and helpful.
Excellent hotel, central location, friendly staff, nice breakfast
Well located, well-run, comfortable; an excellent choice. We asked for a quiet room and got one looking onto a light well, which meant that the room was rather dark and had no view. However it was certainly quiet and was very spacious. A lively atmosphere, and well used by local residents. We had a good meal in the hotel restaurant
Price & location
Great location, near main square. Friendly staff. Food good and reasonably priced.
overnight stop for the ferry at Santander
La sutuación e instalaciones en general La cena. Se debería mejorar la calidad de la comida
Hotel is nice. Clean and comfortable, and it is quite new. Room with a lot of facilities Room was a little small, but it was OK for one night
Style, decor. Wireless coverage, late timing of meals
the hotel staff were really friendly and helpful. It was comfortable and relaxing
Cleanliness and outstanding facility
difficult underground parking via a small lift. Restaurant average
Everything was good. Staff, room, service, breakfast, great car lift. We will stay here again. Directions to car park entrance should say - pull up on pavement outside hotel, go to reception & they will open the garage door.
Reasonable location within a short walk of the centre. Clean and spacious room with armchairs and good layout in the bathroom. Only one pillow, more would have been more comfortable. To have had a seating are outside would have been nice i.e. a balcony or terrace as the hotel was quite dark inside.
I arrived on Sunday to stay the night, however, there were no facilities whatsoever to have a meal or even a snack. This I find totally unacceptable for a 4* rated hotel. The information card in the room indicated that snacks were available 7 days a week. The breakfast was excellent. I would not recommend staying at this hotel on a Sunday.
Room was clean and neat Trouble finding from address given and Hotel ABC not on front of building
Very good hotel, perfect for the proximity to the fairground and not far from the main centre.
Looks awful from the outside but step inside to another world. Spotless clean rooms - friendly staff, easy parking. 5 min walk into the city. No frills but well worth a stay
helpful staff - hotel walking distance to city centre-taxis easily available-free internet access
It is located in a fine position if you have something to do at the Valladolid Feria. Almost inside the Feria.Cheap and quite good breakfast(extra charge), vast parking place in front of the Hotel. 1 Bed room was quite spacious and well equiped. Very kind reception personel. Everything is OK. The outlook of the Hotel looks dissapointing but the Hotel itself is fine.
top marks for their staff so nice, friendly and helpful
The receptionist, Ana, was very kind and helpful and the hotel very convenient for the Ferial. I would certainly recommend the hotel but not the restaurant although the food was very tasty. The price of the meal was exorbitant. Lamb chops for four of us, a bottle of water and a beer and a salad. The waiter brought extra dishes (in some restaurants this is normal) and the bill came to 132 euros. We had to leave the money on the table as he had disappeared when we came to pay. He also arrived about 1/2 an hour late.
Efficient staff, clean and modern hotel There was a huge engine working underneath during the whole night
bar and cafeteria just next door + all other facilities (bathroom - minibar - airco .....) no
Nice room and friendly staff. Very expensive restaurant (menu of 60-80 euros per head) and virtually no other options in village.
This is a well-executed combination of a beautifully restored old house with some cutting edge modern additions. Our (modern) room was spacious and comfortable, with interesting furniture and funky interior finishes. Crazy prices in the restaurant (we didn't eat there). The town (Ampudia) was as dead as an empty bus-shelter.
Food was over priced
Overall ambience & dining experience Bathroom design not totally practical
Great receptionist. Secure parking. Efficient services No
Convenient for Santander ferry and allow dogs. Sensibly priced restaurant with reasonable food. Not our idea of a 4 star hotel being more akin to a better budget hotel in UK, therefore seriously over-priced. Beware the free mini-bar, water and soft drinks only. The free wi-fi in the common areas was 'unavailable' although it could be provided in the room at an unreasonable cost!!!
Very helpful receptionist with good English and easy walk into the town. The room was immaculate and free soft drinks available from mini bar. On Sunday (the day we were there) the restaurant was closed but very substantial bar meals and drinks were available at reasonable prices. We would stay again.
The AC Palenicia is easy to find by road and in a good location for the city centre.
Helpful staff. Secure parking for car. No
Staff were very helpful, hotel was very clean, it is on the outskirts of Palencia with very easy access to and from. Ideal for the Santanda Ferry - 2 hour easy drive with petrol stop. Only downside was that on Sundays the dinning room is not open. You have to have a snack (Beefburger/Club sandwich etc) in the bar area. So if your intending to catch the Monday ferry back to the UK remember.
The hotel is conveniently located just off the motorway and parking is available. The receptionist was very helpful and the room was clean, although it overlooked waste ground at the back of the hotel. We stayed during a holiday in Spain so the restaurant was closed for dinner. Breakfast was barely average with no hot food and meat left uncovered. There is a 15 minute walk to the centre of town.
The Hotel was excellent value with comfortable, clean and well presented accommodation The Charge for parking was high. although it was secure.
Location, location, location...Convenient access to the hotel and to the old city from the hotel. Rooms are comfortably modern. Service was very good. We enjoyed an easy dinner which - by the way - compared favorably with other experiences in the same week.. Charging for parking in the garage is inappropriate when (almost) no surface parking is available on the property.
It's a very new hotel with very good comfort. The overnightstay friday/saterday of Euro 60 for 2 personroom was in my eyes very cheap. The travel-information was ridiculously wrong; it's absolutaly necessary to improve the last stretch of the information from the highway. It tooke us 20 minutes to find the hotel with this information!!!
Handy next to river and town centre. Free parking on street near by. Spacious comfortable rooms. Excellent restaurant with fast, efficient service.
This was our second visit during August, on our way back to Santander. Not only had the hotel lobby, bars and gardens/pool been tidied up and refurbished since our earlier stay (just two weeks earlier!), but it was fiesta week in Palencia and the place was buzzing...
Good location overlooking river and handy for a stroll around the town. The toilet had not been properly cleaned after a previous guest had obviously suffered a stomach upset, but the receptionist provided an alternative room and apologised.
Very good value evening meal and good breakfast Parking-seemed impossible to reserve a parking space in the very small garage
We found this a good location in Transit from Santander to Portugal. Easy to find by the river and short walk over the bridge to the city centre. A three course dinner at 15 euro including wine was excellent and served by willing staff. The room was large and very comfortable, we would definitely stay here again and the secure garage parking was also a plus. Nothing at all
Chosen because of its location just off A67 Madrid-Santander - it is easy to find and a very adequate stop-over providing good value and resonable services. Immediate location is run down.
We love Palencia and the central location for the fiesta. Also the rooms are good and the breakfast is excellent. This year we also saw the matadores who were staying at the hotel!
Lady at reception was very good No parking space, even though I booked
Highly recommendable. In a few words, accessible, safe, welcoming, clean, all the superlatives would apply.Would most positively use again. Could not find fault anywhere.
nice setting, very close to the centre but still in a park, friendly personnel swimming pool and garden were closed. Booking.com should mention the opening periods of the swimming pool for all hotels!
In town centre so good for a walk around the town. Could do wth a bit of a face lift and very little English if any is spoken by staff.
Very close to the centre of Town and the bus/Train stations. Very clean room and good bar. The shower dipped out. The receptionist was very rude and the aircon didn't work.
Very efficient & friendly service at Reception on arrival 1. Music in the restaurant - not necessary. Or at least lower the volume and get away from the old-fashioned American muzak (after all, it is a hotel in Spain). 2. Decor and furnishings in the public rooms: totally uncoordinated; needs an interior design makeover.
Friendly Staff N/A
The room was pleasent and comfortable. The location was good too. Very few of the hotel could speak English so communication was difficult. I was unable to order room service because of this. Vegetarian food is also very very limited! Also the wooden floors in the bedrooms and corridors were very noisy when people were walking around.
Twin room supplied despite me asking specifically for a double room. No explanation forthcoming. Noise from Building site opposite hotel should have been mentioned.
Centrally located, well priced, availability of WI-FI No programme in Enlish, like News programme on the bedroom TV. Breakfast could be a little better organised, limited cereals, cold milk available only by request, no large spoons available for cereals, yes we were supplied with the appropriate spoons when requested.
Convenient location but not easy to find No double smoke free rooms Expensive breakfast - if you had one
I liked its location and its price by comparison to other hotels. The gym facility did not open until 9:00 a.m.
The elevator was very slow, sometimes one had to wait 10 minutes. Internet access was expensive for a 4-day stay.
Nh Bálago is a hotel with very high standard and comfort. The walk to the historic city center takes around 10 minutes. We did not want to pay a fee for parking at the hotel and found a parking spot close by. There are plenty of them for free and there is no need to worry because the neighborhood seems to be very safe. The value for money is incredible. We paid eur 68 for a double room in this great four-star hotel.
The Hotel is situated outside the city.
The room was very comfortable with efficient air conditioning. Public spaces were very pleasant. Easy access by local bus to city centre. No free internet access on a hotel computer. Quite far from the city centre and the area in front of the hotel was unattractive, containing scrub grass.
The room was modern and clean. The use of the jacuzzi and sauna was advertised as free. When we visited there was a EUR 6 charge per person and there was no water in the jazuzzi! The room and bathroom were small.
secure underground parking.
The location The reception don't speak Portuguese
NH hotels are always good ones. High level stay. none
Location. Very clean and luxery. Nobody spoke english.
The bed was comfortable and the room was well insulated from street noise and other guests. It was nice to have a two person Jacuzzi in the room, and very convenient to have a private garage under the room. There was no shower curtain and the water sprayed everywhere! I did not like the transparent sink. I was disappointed to find no lobby and no common facilities such as a computer with internet access.
Whirpool bath, king size bed, privacy
no resturant in the hotel and no recommendation where to find one
Very friendly service in modern surroundings. Clean and comfortable rooms with free internet access. Underground car parking was a distinct advantage.
It was very clean because it was so new. Absolutely terrible directions from web site - poor signage inside hotel - lost from car park to hotel entrance.
The beds were amongst the most comfortable we had in Europe. Room was spacious and clean apart from some marks on the carpet. Terrific bathroom. Outstandingly helpful staff. Tightness of parking isn't really an issue as the receptionist directs you into the space. Street parking is almost impossible so pay for a hotel space.
New hotel surrounded by building sites with no restaurant and no good restaurant within walking distance, the only one recommended by the hotel was closed at night. Far from city centre.
central location.Very friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast was poor quality and not worth 7-50 euros.
Very luxurious for the price, the large bed was extremely comfortable. Bit impersonal & the breakfast was not worth the money.
A fantastic hotel if you don't want to unload the car as it is safely locked away in your own private garage. Have already recomended it to friends.
Cleanliness, safety of vehicle. An excellent concept for hotels - wish there were more of them. Smell of cigarette smoke in room.
Room was very clean and garage very handy. Close to the motorway and very easy to find. No restaurant, room service only. No outside space.Has the outside styling of a nuclear bunker. Invisiblele staff only contactable by phone.Room service menu very limited and no other choices available.Could not obtain any receipts for cash paid for stay or room service.
It was clean comfortable and quiet. It was also very conveniently located next to the motorway. The receptionist was very friendly and helpful, but it would have been nice to see her smiling face when checking in and out. The lady who brought our food was also very pleasant. As we were a family of 5 with 3 rooms we had to ask for keys to be able to move between rooms. Didn't like the scrapheap outside! and the architecture was a little prison like.
secure parking in a locked garage next to bedroom door. nowhere other than your room to go such as a bar or restaurant and no English speaking channels on tv.
Secure parking for motorbike Very impersonal, could not see the reception people. Food very poor and whole place was slightly seedy. No key was given for the door, so became sort of trapped in!
Private garage, big beds 2.00 x 2.00 The room was clean but the sheets had to be replaced, they were full with hair and stains.(maybe use another laundry) Replacement quick and without problems. There is no internet. Every hotel should have free internet in the year 2008..
It was too anonymous. Did not see anyone as we checked in or out, just a voice from a grille and a box to give us our keys and to check documents.
The convrniance of the location Would have liked to have had a walk for fresh air but could not secure the room so was trapped I am sure that if I had asked I could have resolved the issue,in saying this I would stop again
