10.0 Excellent
Pros: It's so beautifully quiet & peaceful, & it was great to have a lounge to spend the evening in watching t.v. or reading. Our room was very comfortable, & the bathroom was really nice with a great shower, & lovely shampoo & shower gel. We were made very welcome by Kirsty, & our dog was made a fuss of which she loved, our breakfast was gorgeous & definitely plenty of it with the offer of more tea/coffee & toast should we have wanted it. We definitely recommend The Steadings, if you love the countryside, peace & quiet you'll love it there.
Cons: The track up to The Steadings was terrible, but Kirsty is trying to get it changed for satnavs, Google maps etc to show the better route which we used on leaving. Apart from that no problems.

Lovely room very clean and well appointed. Fantastic breakfast too. Lots of walking from the doorstep and a great Italian food pub in the village - equally dog friendly. Highly recommended.
Cons: Everything was perfect.

The kitchen facility was perfect - it came with all the essentials. The hot tub facility was great and was very clean. Host was great, very friendly and attentive. The lodge is perfect for a night away of relaxation!

Pros: Very pleasant stay. We were positively surprised to have for the price we've paid such a comfortable room, with modern bathroom and everything one would need for a happy stay: shower gel, shampoo, hair dryer. Checking in was flawless - we came a little bit late, around 10:30 p.m. - the room key was awaiting us on the table in the lobby. Parking was just next door. 10.0 Excellent
Pros: John welcomed us personally and showed us everything we needed to know (parking, heating, breakfast selection, tips for dinner etc.). He and his wife Peta are very nice and helpful hosts! The small house from the 17th century was lovingly restored by the two of them and equipped absolutely state of the art - or even beyond. The small house is built in the gallery style, i.e. it has a small living room which goes over both floor heights. On the 1st floor there is a room with two separate beds, on the ground floor there is a bedroom with a double bed two metres wide (two mattresses - great!) and the chic bathroom with shower and wonderful towel warmer. In the living room there is a dining area for 4 persons as well as a mini kitchenette with a small fridge. Breakfast is served every morning freshly prepared on a tray. The quality of the products is very good - the fruit salad was also a visual highlight! When we arrived it was a bit too cool - John turned on the heating (in July - THANK YOU!) and it got warm within minutes! We enjoyed our stay here very much and regret that we can only stay 2 days due to our travel plans. This B&B is definitely one of the best we stayed on our 12-day round trip.
Cons: The only downer is the fact that there is a WLAN, but unfortunately an internet access didn't work. I.e. no Internet via WLAN possible. But it was no problem for us because of our roaming flat in our tablet PC.

Pros: I have stayed at about 60 hotels this year - and this was the best so far. This is how a hotel should be run if you want to encourage return custom, and its easy to see why this hotel has been awarded several Hotel awards including Best Scottish Boutique Hotel. On arrival, I was obviously looking a bit tired and so without hesitation, the staff member who was booking me in took the decision to place me in the main hotel - with a fantastic room as he felt I would be more comfortable. Brilliant service. He politely asked if I would be eating and for once I did take him up on the offer. Ordinarily I tend to eat away from the hotel as I find Hotel food pretty average if booking within my budget. This though - I have to admit was a massive surprise. The Chef is clearly aware that they produce some great food - using local produce. I had fish - perfectly cooked with veg that tasted of veg! everything was very well presented and the staff again were very aware of how to look after their guests without being overbearing. The bar is small but very well stocked - lots of local Gin and decent supply of anything you care for including Ale ( in bottles) from local breweries. Breakfast - I always use as a test - poached eggs - again were perfect and not a hint of vinegar. I cant really recommend this place enough. I've already advised friends in my industry who may be travelling up there to stay here. There is a cool BBQ area outside and some great views over the estuary when its clear. Gardens are filled with lots to explore for the kids, including a decent climbing tree house area. I will always find an excuse to come back - a great find, and the crazy thing is it was only about £10 more expensive than the disaster of a place I stayed at the night before and its as cheap as those Purple and Blue overnight chains ! My daughters want to go there as it looks like a fairy castle ! - So its an old building with a really comfortable feel.
Cons: There is nothing not to like about this place - other than the fact its a long way up from Bath !!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The property was excellent, everything you could possibly need was there. Groceries can be bought at the local shop which was open until 8pm, or a quick trip to Glenrothes to the larger stores to stock up. Ideal central location to explore all that Fife has to offer and just an hour away from Edinburgh. Staying in the middle of Falkland with a view of the Palace on the doorstep was idyllic, this little home from home deserves a second visit, hopefully very soon
Cons: I couldn’t fault this property at all

Pros: A good old fashioned Scottish inn, pub with rooms, and hospitality to match, a warm room and a hot shower after a day's walking, all at a great price. All set in the historic town of Falkland. What more could you ask for! A great stopover on my Fife Pilgrim's Way to St. Andrews!
Cons: Note: Food wasn't available on the Tuesday night I stayed but a short walk round to the Lomond Tavern soon sorted that out.

Good quality food served promptly. We ate dinner at night in the hotel and again it was a beautiful meal, a fantastic price for superb quality. We used the pool, bubble pool and sauna and very much enjoyed these facilities. There was a very adequate little gym with high quality equipment. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay again if in that area.
