Pros: We have had a great stay at La Rotonde 77. Reception was great by Elsie, very personal and interesting owner. Breakfast outstanding with own made croissants, marmelade, fresh fruits, baguettes, fresh fruit-juices. On request she prepared "creps" for my daughters. We had the Azura-room, which was, spacious, clean with a nice view. Location in Barbizon is good in close proximity of restaurants and just 10-minutes drive from Fontainbleau-castle. For sure we will return for our next visit in Barbizon-area. Merci à vous, Elsie!!
Cons: All was superb. No negativ aspects at all.

Pros: It is very nice house. The host and her son can speak English. Her son helped us to book the restaurant for dinner.
Cons: Nothing
5.8 Okay
Pros: The host was friendly, the room quiet, the bathroom large.
Cons: The layout of the room was awkward. It had two levels, connected by a very narrow staircase. Downstairs there was a very spacious bathroom, but otherwise there was no space to actually spend time. Just a tiny table and a few hard benches. The bedroom was upstairs; it was very small and so low that you ran the risk of bumping your head all the time. Getting to the other side of the bed was not possible without bending over. The breakfast experience was awkward. We had breakfast with a family, sharing the same table and food. We would have appreciated some more privacy at breakfast.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very clean, newly renovated rooms, pool excellent for kids, breakfast really good, owner nice and tries very hard to please and be friendly, wifi works well, good TV, lovely village location.
Cons: Access to onsite parking through narrow old gateway, 4x4 just about fitted, may not suite large vehicles. Plenty of off street safe parking nearby also so not an issue.
6.2 Good
Pros: Yard with a swing set and pool were great. Breakfast room is well lit and airy, and breakfast was very nice. Owner was very friendly and accommodating, with excellent English
Cons: We stayed in the orange room. The ceiling in the bedroom was so low I could hit my head (I'm 5'5"). The room was very small and claustrophobic feeling with no windows. And there was no top sheet on the bed.

Breakfast was decent with 2 croissants, baguette, jams, 2 pats butter, juice, coffee, 2 slices cheese and ham, 2 small bowls sliced fresh peaches, and 2 plain yogurt. 15 minutes to Fontainebleu. Street parking.
Cons: No air conditioning (but room did have a floor fan). Not much attention from hosts.

Pros: Very relaxed and clean and comfy and fantastic breakfast in your room so you don't have to see other people which I loved.
Cons: Nothing.

Breakfast was brought to us and we had the option of eating in the lively garden or in our room. The street was very quiet.

La Closerie des 3 Marottes - Melun - Bedroom
5
9.4 Excellent (145 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at La Closerie des 3 Marottes, you'll be centrally located in Melun, within a 15-minute drive of Chateau de Vaux-le-Vicomte and Forêt de Fontainebleau.
5.5 Okay
Pros: The breakfast was excellent, the old proprietor was very nice and willing to help The rooms are really splendid, full of beautiful furniture, books and French culture. Beautiful bathroom
Cons: They are in a transmission phase from one proprietor to the other. Unfortunely this meant toilets were not cleaned, not working, no place for parking (taken by the new owner). We could not close the rooms, because no key available.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: What a place to stay! I rarely stayed in a place as pleasant as this one. The premises have been renovated over the last years and look splendid. All apartments have a view on the inner courtyard and are very quiet, not a whisper from the surrounding city comes here. And if you like an unpredictably built house, grown over centuries, with a large variety of rooms, antichambres, stairs, steps, doors and the like: this is your place. The breakfast was very pleasant with home made confitures, coffee, fruits etc. Modest but of the best possible quality. But the best of all was the lovely lady running this place, so much to do, and still ample time for her guests. Chapeau!
Cons: Nothing negative about Les Trois Marottes. Melun though is of no interest whatsoever. One really has to go out to the surrounding sights (Chateau le Vaux le Vicompte, Fontainebleau, ...) to justify a stay in Melun.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Mme. Boultam welcomed us and was very keen to make our stay a pleasure. Our room was actually a 3 room suite with kitchenette, lounge, bedroom, with shower room separate from powder room. The hotel is an easy walk to excellent resturaunts and the old town center, and an easy 6 Euro Uber ride from Gare de Melun, which is on the D line RER service direct to Gare du Nord, Paris. Taxi or uber to Vaux le Vicomte 15-25 Euro. The rooms were charming and came with an excellent breakfast. The most charming was our bedroom view into a beautifully landscaped courtyard. Excellent value.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The owner was brand new and adjusting to things. Her enthusiasm was delightful! Wonderful breakfast with cooked to order eggs. Charming courtyard.
Cons: There was only one complimentary parking space, but a parking garage is about 3 blocks away. Our major complaint is that our room wasn't serviced over our three-night stay. We were also asked to pay cash because the credit card system wasn't set up yet.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful B&B with personal attention by the host Jamila. Located within walking distance of downtown square and bridge (Joan of Arc) - 5 minutes walk. Parking available on the street, pending availability, however parking garage is also located nearby. Nice breakfast and conversation. From the outside it appears very plain, however step inside and it is like the "Tardis from Dr. Who". Large, spacious and with a lot of charm. Great wifi, TV, and comfortable bed. Stayed in January when it was colder outside (0 degrees), however the heat in the room and throughout the property works great.
Cons: All was good. Be aware that free parking is on the street and not within the property. However was not problem to find a spot on the road.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautifully restored rooms in an old mansion surrounding a private courtyard, excellent air con in bedroom, extremely friendly host Jamila Boultan, excellent breakfast. Jamila just starting, bought the place one week ago, but doing a fantastic job. HIGHLY recommended!
Cons: No frig, fairly good wifi in room but not in dining area.
10.0 Excellent

Cons: Too small bathroom
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Our hostess was incredible. We received a worm welcome. And she was so friendly and easy to work with. Breakfast was delicious in a beautiful setting. Our bedroom, bathroom and sitting area were beautifully furnished.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: This was the perfect place, quiet, beautiful, comfortable, clean and the owner is simply lovely, trying everything to make her customers happy. The place has the real Charme of France, from the outside you won’t expect anything and when you get inside it’s like a small paradise.
10.0 Excellent

Cons: Nothing
Les Magnolias - B&B - Vaux Le Penil - Building
6
9.4 Excellent (107 reviews)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Warm and friendly host and self contained accommodation for a family
Cons: No shower curtain
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Quiet, convenient location, off street parking, fantastic breakfast, our host Nicole very helpful and friendly. Train the Paris Gare De Lyon from Melun only 23 mins
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Our hostess made us all feel welcome from the moment of arrival until we left the next morning. She gladly took care of a load of laundry we needed in order to complete our trip w/ clean clothes (even folding them for us!). When asked, she made arrangements for dinner at L'uisine (it was a Sunday evening, so a closer and more 'French' / non-chain restaurant didn't occur to our host to recommend). I'd had concerns about staying, 2 couples, in such close proximity but sounds did not carry from room-to-room and only modest amount of noise came from sharing the one bathroom. Beds were comfortable, hosts were so quiet we wouldn't have known they were there. Breakfast on the terrace was the highlight of 3 days on the way to Paris; while 'continental', there was PLENTY to sustain us til lunch. This was our least expensive night's stay, thanks to sharing the suite between two couples. I would definitely recommend Les Magnolias for a couple or close friends...even for a couple of nights. P.S. Glad we got to meet the cat :-).
Cons: Was surprised at the distance from Fontainbleu. The most direct GPS route had us going through several small towns (including Vaux le Penil). Because the speed limit was low, it took longer to get here than any of us had anticipated. On the 'plus' side, Vaux Vicomte was very near, insuring that we were able to tour it first thing the next morning before hitting the road for Giverny.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staying in an upstairs apartment as part of a family home, facilities were excellent rooms comfortable and the host and hostess very welcoming. The breakfast was very good a great selection with great service - we were 3 friends travelling and I would recommend this as an excellent place to stay
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Clean, feels like home, breakfast awesome, fabulous overall, pet friendly
Cons: No air conditioning. Shared toilet/bath
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely private room and awesome hosts. Breakfast was great. More than happy with my brief stay
Cons: If you have heavy bags there are numerous stairs.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very kind and professional host. clean and comfortable. Ideal for families.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Clean beds with plenty of space. Close to Vaux le vicomte and fontainebleaue.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything. Best breakfast of our 2 week trip! In a lovely conservatory, on beautiful dishes. Our hostess Nicole was amazingly kind and welcoming. She settled us in her upstairs suite and then offered to drive us to the train station 10 minutes away so we could spend the evening in Paris. Then she picked us up late that night and drove us home. We had a very comfortable stay there.
Cons: Nothing

It’s in a quiet, leafy location on the river Seine but within walking distance to a train station so it’s a perfect spot for those wanting to explore Paris and the rest of the Ile de France region without staying in the busy city. Pierre kindly took us to Barbizon as it’s not accessible by train or bus. A generous continental breakfast is served on beautiful crockery. We hope to return to Chateau Rouillon d’Allest for a longer stay next time.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Charming building and decor and charming helpful hosts. Comfortable accommodation. Good quality and value restaurant in walking distance
Cons: Breakfasts were a bit basic for the quality and cost of accommodation and could be made more interesting with some fruit and/or cereal available.

Cons: Note that bedrooms are on the second floor, accessible by stairs.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fred and his wife were very nice, the place had lots of charm and was cozy. The tastefully decorated room was small and was missing a place to hang our clothes, but all in all, a perfect, charming stop, and great location with lovely people!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice family house and pleasant hosts. Breakfast was good. Quiet place. Walking distance to Barbizon centre. The rooms are a little bit small, but if you don't plan to spend your days inside, it is not a problem.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: I loved the position of the property
Cons: The breakfast could have been better. We had to make our own coffee from a machine - it was ok but the cups were small and we were constantly having to turn on the machine. We got croissants and bread and yogurt, but for the cost I would have expected some fresh fruit prepared and the option of an egg.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Owners are very nice and hospitable and the house is quite charming
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very attentive and helpful. Barbizon and area are well worth a visit.

Cons: Nothing!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The B&B was very chic and the aesthetics were lovely. The bed was comfortable and we slept well. We found the hostess was welcoming and the breakfast was amazingly good. There were excellent details and high end touches and the food was wonderfully presented.. The local area, as many will know is famous for its school of painters and therefore the village has a number of artisan shops and a good selection of restaurants. There are super walks in the forest nearby.
Cons: This may be a bit picky there wasn’t tea/coffee making facilities in the room. There was a lounge/dinning area which appeared open to guests, though this wasn’t made clear. Also we were unsure if the kitchen was where refreshments could be prepared as a guest. However, there overall experience wasn’t spoilt by this and we will return again.

Pros: Very good sized room , separate room for kids with facilities, Nice and quite location. , the staff was amazing , breakfast was very good , free parking .I will definitely recommend it. I will suggest a small mini fridge in rooms .
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful old farm building, completely renovated. Owners absolutely lovely and welcoming. Very beautifully presented breakfast , pastries, breads and coffee, juice, fruit salad , butter and honey, Nutella . Beautiful room , very clean and quiet . We stayed overnight after a wedding and it was a perfect place . We felt safe and very happy.
Cons: There was nothing to complain about .
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Ideal one night stopover on the edge of town in quiet rural location - 15 minutes off the A6 motorway (although nearby we couldn't hear it at all). Large clean family suite with two bedrooms (pitch black at night!) - comfortable beds and a good quality shower. Hosts were courteous and helpful. Breakfast was plentiful and very good, the owner speaks very good English but the other staff not so much, so good opportunity to brush up on your French.
Cons: Another reviewer mentioned signage and we totally agree - the Farm itself was easy to find but there are several possible entrances into the building - wedding reception rooms etc - but no obvious directions for B&B visitors - a little confusing but we met the owners on their way out to walk their dog so no problem from then on. Breakfast area was at one end of a wedding reception room so surrounded by stacked chairs and tables - but the warm rolls and croissants were a perfect distraction !

Pros: The breakfast was really good.

Pros: We arrived during the heatwave in France (40C on arrival). We were due to stay in a cabin in the grounds, but Jean said that it was too hot and that he would put us in one of the rooms in the main house. Very nice and far, far cooler. The breakfast was extremely good (the best we had in France). The dining room was lovely with the double doors leading out on to the terrace where we were introduced to Hubert, one of the horses there. All in all a brilliant experience, and my wife and I would have no hesitation in returning there. A great place to stay if you're visiting Paris.
Cons: Nothing. It was an all-round excellent experience.

Pros: jean is very friendly and helpfull the breakfast was super huge breakfast jean is cool super
7.0 Good
Pros: The location with horses, the domain, the breakfast (but no milk) The owner let us do the checkout later almost 1pm instead of 11am. That was kind
Cons: The bed was a coach. This is not good value. No working plug in the bathroom The shower was a bit fragile and deserves to replace
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The bed was very comfortable and there were fresh flowers from the garden, in the room and on the breakfast table.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: This is an exceptionally charming property just a few minutes away from Fontainebleau. Quiet, pastoral grounds (with a dozen horses on site!) and spacious, charming, shabby chic lodgings - this place was perfect for us, a couple with a 10-month old baby. Jean was such a gracious host and even took the baby off our hands so we could enjoy the tasty breakfast. Highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a comfortable place with a bit of character in the Fontainebleau area.
5.0 Okay
Pros: John the manager was very pleasant as was the fiancé of the owner. The breakfast was good
Cons: We’ve stayed in many 4-star hotels and this certainly does not fall into the same category. There was no air conditioning in the room which was the main reason for us booking this hotel. We asked for a fan instead but it wasn’t available. However the owner of the Maison was curt and almost dismissive. The room was really spacious and well maintained. But the bathroom could do with a little maintenance and a shower curtain.
6.8 Good
Pros: The room was clean and the house keeper a lovely man. The hotel has a beautiful outlook!
Cons: The hotel is unstaffed. We arrived within the advised check in times and couldn’t find anyone to let us in. We waited for half an hour for some one to show up. At night we needed to access a fridge and went to the kitchen we found 2 dogs in the kitchen yapping because we disturbed them. As a result the kitchen floor was dirty. Seeing this turned us off eating breakfast. The furniture in the common areas is tired and the outdoor space is untidy and unwelcoming.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly hospitality. Spacious rooms, great location and views of rural France with a very large garden that was out of this world! The horses were lovely and beautiful with a nice dog that accompanied us on our check out. Amazing homemade breakfast, I really recommend! Ten stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was brilliant and we couldn’t have asked for better. Continental but so much of it, served on the patio. Jean, the man that met us, was lovely and so friendly. The house is fantastic and typical French,
Cons: Only two things.....we couldn’t have the chalet as it was not available and there was no Air Conditioner, T V or WiFi - so we just didn’t worry ourselves over it.
7.0 Good
Pros: Beautiful location and Château. Breakfast was good.
Cons: Bathroom was poorly maintained. Taps and shower dripping so much that water was turned off when we arrived. got the feeling this is a work in progress. Note that the residence is not staffed full time in the building. Contact is via people in a lodge away from the building. Check in is at a set time and we were late due to traffic but owner stayed on.

Pros: Situated right next to the Seine the property is set in its own private grounds. Friendly and helpful host and homemade jams for breakfast.
Cons: The bathing facilities in the corner of our room were not really suitable a tiny corner bath with hand held shower. The room up 2 flights of uncarpeted stairs were very slippery and tricky to negotiate when carrying suitcases when wearing slippers at the owner's request.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The friendliness of the hosts, the comfort of the room and the brilliant massage of the therapist!!
Cons: no separation in the room for the WC :S
6.3 Good
Cons: I could not bring my car off the road until 5.00 The gates were kept shut despite repeated requests. When I did get in I was only allowed to park in the hot sun. There was plenty of shaded space. bad
5.5 Okay
Pros: The owners we especially nice, gave us recommendations for a great restaurant and also for a laundromat to do our clothes since at this point we had been on the road for two weeks. Overall they are wonderful people, gave us crackers & cheese one night as we were drinking our bottle of wine.
Cons: WARNING! This property is under construction until at least November. They are replacing the roof. There is scaffolding completely surrounding the house and construction material everywhere. Sitting out on the patio trying to have wine and look at the river was interrupted by the compressor being used for the nail guns for the roofers. Payment is cash only.
3.3 Mediocre
Cons: At 16.00 you can not check in and you have to wait till 17.30 Toilet open in the middle of your room without door:( You have to take of your shoes when you come in, be carefully on the slippery stairs. No chair in the room Breakfast very poor, no strawberry or abricot marmelade. And you have to pay cash

Pros: The proprietor went the extra mile to help us out, she was extremely helpful, and took her time to help.

Pros: Freshly made French toast
4.5 Okay
Pros: Not a lot
Cons: Total lack of any bonne homie. Language may have been a barrier. His persistent presence standing over us during breakfast was almost rude. This once gem of a location(as shown on website) has diminished the garden was a mess and even though we arrived on time we had to telephone him to get in 20 minutes later. In fairness he had arranged to move the booking by one day but that was a long time ago and I think he had forgotten we were coming. Three large dogs on a gate that was almost fortified was not a good start. When we visit our friends in Avon we will certainly not return.

Pros: Excellent value, congenial host, lovely roses, good location.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: very good bedroom inc antique furniture with a modern and v clean en suite. Fullsome breakfast with more than we could ask for.
Cons: The outside of the house, stairs and balcony should be cleaned and the wood preserved. The wild garden and parking area could be tidied up. The lockable main gate could be maintained to make it less noisy to operate late evening

Pros: Jean-Pierre was a good host. I broke my glasses and he was very helpful in some minor repairs. We would stay there again. Close driving distance to Fontainebleau. Not enough restaurants open was the only issue.

Pros: The room was tranquil and secure, in a lovely garden. Breakfast was lovely and Jean-Pierre was attentive and helpful. Without his recommendation we would have missed Chateau le Vaux de Vicompte!
