8.7 Excellent (28 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Just 300 metres from the beach of Damnoni, Zefyros is surrounded by a garden with sun terrace. It offers air-conditioned rooms with free Wi-Fi and a furnished balcony overlooking the Libyan Sea or the Cretan mountains. An LCD TV, fridge and electric kettle are provided in all units at the Zefyros Rooms. Each has a private bathroom with shower. Staff at the 24-hour front desk can offer information on Plakias 3.5 km away. Preveli Beach is within 9 km.
5.8 Okay
Pros: The sea view. Wifi was working good in the room.
Cons: The room was small and very simple. No privacy in the room, cause you were squashed between the other rooms and could hear neighbours' every single movement and word.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Nice room with balcony with view over Damnoni bay. Fully equiped kitchen (including Olive oil and Raki :-)). Very helpful is the mosquito-net in front of the window! Approx. 40 Minutes walk from here is one of the best snorkeling-bays on Kreta.
6.3 Good
Pros: The location of the hotel is great.
Cons: The interior is very old. The rooms are very small.

Pros: Great studio with beautiful view over the bay of Damnoni. Fantastic hosts!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We stayed at Zefyros Rooms for 5 nights in September and it was a perfect location from which we could explore Crete's southern beaches. The hotel is 10 minutes walk away from Damnoni beach, which is a long beach and never feels crowded. It is also calmer on a windy day compared to other beaches with plenty of fish to see. There are also a few other smaller beaches nearby, for instance further 10 minutes walk away is Ammoudi beach. Plakias beach and little village is 5 minutes drive away, here we bought all our cooking ingredients and there is also a nice bakery there. We took walks around the hotel, for instance nice circular walk to Kalypso beach by the coast at sunset was amazing. The room and bathroom were clean and kitchenette had everything that we needed, with cooker, fridge that was big enough to store our shopping and even a little freezer for much needed ice cubes. There were some salt, pepper, oil and napkins provided. The air-conditioning worked really well on the hot days. The biggest plus was a small balcony with umbrella, table and chairs for breakfasts and dinners. It was very private and quiet with a view on the beach and sea. The room came with bathroom and hand towels. The room got cleaned every day. The WiFi was fast and there is also a TV in the room. There is safe parking off the street.
Cons: Nothing

Pros: Popi and her family very helpful , make you feel home ,welling to help in any thing, she made us fantastic Greek dinner , the view , the location .
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Lovely view over Damnoni beach and only a 15-20 minute walk down to beach quiet as off the main drag but if you like a gentle stroll then the main town of Plakias is easily walkable.
Cons: Could have done with more pillows but we made do.

7.5 Good
Pros: Accommodations very simple, but right near the beach and 3 great restaurants
Cons: There should have been a better view of the sea. There were 2 large patios, one large right in front of our room where there was a sea view but no chairs or sun beds of any kind.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Damnoni with it's beaches and 3 seafront tavernas and a couple of bars is still a stunning place for a few days. The sea is crystal clear and the setting magnificent. The property is still very nice but is showing signs of age. The first 2 of the 3 tavernas are excellent - the other one has either robbed us or given our table away after queing or managed to give us false promises on a number of times!
Cons: The rooms are now above a derelict unused taverna building, which came as a shock as we arrived. The bar prices at the neighbouring bar were quite expensive and we had better value for money at other properties during our tour of Crete. We might return, yet again to Damnoni but might consider other rooms to stay. With more sunbeds and visitors (and the nearby very busy Happimag resort) it wasn't as peaceful and unspoilt as we remembered from a few years ago.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: great location. lovely people. fantastic view. excellent restaurants within walking distance. hotel-owned cafe with delicious coffee and direct seaview.
Cons: rooms were a bit small, but for the price one cannot complain.
7.5 Good
Pros: Fantastic location, meters away from Damnoni beach and the outstandingly good Damnoni Tavern. Short drive to Schinaria, which in my opinion the best beach of the Plakias area. Quite clean, despite the prevailing strong wind's attempts to bring every speck of dust inside the room.
Cons: Not really a hotel, lacking reception etc, actually more like rooms-to-let. What seemed like a reception was actually abandoned long ago, and the rooms are now externally accessible. The rooms had all the amenities one would expect, but overall we had the impression that no maintenance is carried out at the property (loud fridge motor, power plugs that were pulled off the wall, clogged bathroom ventilator, detaching towel holders etc). First major minus, the moment you remove your key all lights go off immediately, meaning there is no lighting at night at all on the communal areas (we had a minor accident), and also you have to make your way in the darkness for a few seconds while you lock the door. Second major minus, no credit cards accepted?!? It is compulsory to be able to.

Pros: The owner The position
4.5 Okay
Cons: Was close to the beach
5.8 Okay
Pros: Great location. Cleaned daily
Cons: Dodgy electrics (plug socket hanging out of wall, which we had to use to boil the kettle that never stopped boiling). Very hard uncomfortable bed. Budget Butlins, at 60 Euro a night, was over priced.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Rooms just steps from beach bar and good beach. Very clean and quiet once doors closed and ac on. Comfortable beds. Nearby tavernas excellent.
Cons: Room did not look over beach but towards hills and small hotel. Could hear entertainments in the evening til 9ish. Disappointing not to have view. The "Taverna" is now a just a beach bar and the envrionment was not cared for - plants, once beautiful, were not watered. Car park a bit of a junk yard and not cleared of leaf debris. Pity. But overall a good place for a few days.

9.5 Excellent
Pros: I love this hotel and Damnoni
Cons: Breakfast could be better
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: Not a lot in fact we left a day early, although the area around was beautiful
Cons: The hotel needs upgrading, the pool was dirty and my son cut his foot on glass in the pool on the first day. The rooms and bathrooms were very poor standard indeed and the breakfast was absolutely atrocious.
7.0 Good

Cons: The hotel was a long way from Damnoni Bay itself.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Great pool, great bartender.
Cons: Fixed showerhead, prefer detachable ones.
