it was close to places of interest, provided an evening meal. Although the food was good we thought more simple french cooking would have been more to our liking
We could not have been better welcomed by the owners. Pleasant, helpful and kind and clearly on top of all of the details of operating the hotel restaurant. Rooms were spotless, nicely decorated and comfortable. Restaurant served very good dishes on the fixed price dinner menu with a reasonable wine selection as well. We will definitely return. We were looking for something more in the country so we were thrilled with the location in the small village of Damvillers.
Staff were very welcoming and helpful. Restaurant food was very good Old hotel which seemed a little bit run down, situated in a fairly run down town. Rooms were clean and adequate, but could do with updating, hot at night (August) as no air conditioning.
Very nice staff. Good value for money. No wifi.
Dinner was excellent Breakfast was basic
Easy to locate by car.
Warm, clean and comfortable bed There were no hot drink facilities in the room
Hotel was tidy and clean. Was being refurbished during our stay so the breakfast room and some of the services were limited because of the work.Generally good.
c'était tranquil - het was er stil - it smelled awful, very bad (toilets? it is really very budget
Great hotel for the price, wide variety of breakfast choices. A bit far from town, but we were en-route to Germany, so didn't mind that at all. The room was quiet, comfortable and clean.
Room was of a good size and clean Room was cold, I asked for the heating to be put on only to be told this didnt happen until 6pm.It was only 8 degrees ouyside!!!This is just unexceptable
A lovely spot out of town. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Be sure to order breakfast, loads of choices on offer.
Room was clean, did not smell of tobacco smoke. Staff was efficient. Breakfast was good (standard French breakfast). Internet connection poor in room. I also would have preferred a hotel that is walking distance from center of town, which this one is not.
Good parking, quiet, value for money, friendly staff
The hotel is brand new, room basic as you might expect for this sort of budget hotel, but comfortable, clean, well designed, and everything worked. good facilities for disabled people. Staff pleasant, breakfast - continental, but good bread coffee etc. Very difficult to find as signage very poor . They said it would soon be better as they are on a new out of town shopping area.
it was a functional overnight stay en route for somewhere else arrived at 15.00 but could not check in until 16.00 as no-one on reception
not far from motorway, ample car parking, very clean excellent for a short stay. we had to wait for staff to arrive in order to check in
Lovely restaurant round it and easy to get into Verdun once you have found the hotel. Couldn't find it except when we put the satnav on. Its on a new complex.
The hotel provided what we needed for an overnight stay. Not easy to find coming off the a4 motorway from the direction of Reims.More sign posting would be a great help and a more detailed access map from both directions of the motorway on the hotels' web site. The name of the street just does not appear on any map of Verdun that I looked at.
The hotel is a good bargain for the money, including the breakfast, which is actually pretty tasty. It's barebones functionalism, but for the price you can't go wrong. week internet connection in my room, but with the aid of a 3g adapter my laptop functioned adequately,.
Good location, A clean warm room at the end of a long day travelling No
Value for money Public transport from hotel to town not very regular
The rooms were clean (and small) and are best described as plain. Service was excellent and the food and the service in the restraint were both excellent. Outstanding menu well priced. No wonder it is a favorite for business travelers in Verdun area. Rooms in need of remodeling
beautiful buildings, specially the restaurant
unusual but interesting, still work in progress.clean. quite a lot of steps up to the bedrooms
The room we stayed in was very spacious, much larger than the typical European double. The meals that we had at the restaurant were very good.
Great rural location and excellent dining. Breakfast was good but limited (continental).
Quirky and different!
The Hôtel des Colombes is perfectly located. It is very close to many historic sites and the Office de Tourisme. Also, the staff are very helpful and friendly. The lighting in the bathroom was a little dim. Also, there was a faint cigarette smoke smell in the room. This is fairly typical of France.
Nothing! This is undoutedly the worst "hotel" we have ever stayed at - dirty, smelly and noisy - right opposite a railway station. The room was hot, airless and noisy (right opposite a railway station). We asked specifically for a ground floor room for mobility reasons, but were placed on the second floor, up four flights of narrow stairs. The restaurant was not open, and there was nothing but a Taiwanese take-away place within walking distance. a total disastor and we insisted on leaving the following morning after a sleepless night.
After a couple of days in Paris it was very relaxing to arrive at this hotel. The food was absolutle wonderful, the familyroom simple but absolutely exeptable especially considering price/quality. I was looking for a tradional small town 'Logi de France' hotel with a good restaurant and this filled all the boxes! Some of the other comments found here on Bookings are not reflected in my own excperience of the hotel. Fortunately I had read some other sites that give excelllent (and fair reviews)
The reception was polite and friendly, as was the waiter service. The room reeked of damp. At breakfast, we were the last to eat at about 08.30, there were shortages of basic items which were not replaced.
warm welcome even though on the first occasion (11 august) we arrived a day late! family hotel of great character, a fine mixture of good old fashioned quality and friendly professionalism throughout. our choices of meals prepared to perfection by le patron and served similarly with an excellent wine by the friendly wife of the patron and an attentive young lady. peaceful, comfortable night, freshly baked bread and croissants with proper coffee for breakfast. our return visit on 1 september an equally memorable occasion. will be back, though 400 miles away from home.
