I enjoyed the hotel because the location is spectacular and dana harbor is nearby. This is a great weekend getaway because of the numerous shops and restaurants as well as activities that people could enjoy! I love the options of renting kayaks, paddle boats and paddle boarding. People can even go whale watching. I wishes the pools were open later, at least till 10:00 pm ( to swim ). I also wish the trees in the park didn't block the view of the harbor, but I suspect that's a city thing. I just remember about 10 years ago a friend of mine married at the hotel. I remembered the spectacular view of the boats sailing in the background . The trees from lantern park block the view now.
It's a beautiful hotel perfect for weddings and events. I was very happy with the upgrade to an executive suite. It's a first come first serve policy for free 2 hour bike rentals but I wish they had more than two smaller bikes out of the several bikes they had.
I have religiously stayed at this Laguna Cliff Marriott for close to 20 years . But on several occasions , this last trip was the worst , where your check out experience ruins the wonderful memories of the entire stay . Most customers would never come back , but the reason I keep coming back only to encounter check out nightmares . For instance . I book my room there through Kyyack who send my reservation and payment on to Expedia , who email me my confirmation number and itenerary for my 2 nights. Because of a flight councilation by AA.com I am forced to just move my 2 nights forward 1 day and notify both Expedia and the Laguna Cliff's , and they both confirm no problem no change in rates . So at check out my $159.00 all inclusive rate per night had changed a little less than $900 including my payment to Expedia for one night , and because the airlines had lost my luggage and my money and medicines and all my clothes I didn't have sufficient funds to pay the inflated rate and refused to allow me to pay by check even with my bank president on the phone garrateeing available funds . So I had told the manager I had $300 in cash for an emergency , to which she said use your emergency cash or don't leave the property . So I left with $25 dollars to get to San Jose to meet with Ebay and then back to LA for my flight home . I was able to sell my $1200 iPhone for $550 to enable me to have a place to sleep the next night , and in Silicon Valley $550 doesn't get you much of a room . AA.com still has not found my luggage with my billfold medicine , keep in mind I was just recovering for 2 complete hip replacements . So with no money to drive back to LA to turn my car into Hertz and fly home , I was forced to turn my car into Hertz at the San Francisco International Airport which changed my Hotwire rate of $10.95 per day for 6 days into an $895 dollar charge that included the payment I had already paid Hotwire for the entire week . Finally at AA.com's counter I explain I have no options , no money to drive back to LA to fly home and that I pleaded with her to change my ticket at no charge to fly back from San Francisco to home and she reluctantly agreed but only if I took the red eye . I explained I had not eating almost 2 days , she said do you want this deal take it or get out of my line and contact AA.com/Customer Relationships . Next
Location Resort fee. Valet parking not answering phone. No alternative for overnight parking besides valet of $37/night. No free bottled water for Marriott silver member, nor included in resort fee. No refrigerator. No slippers.
Beautiful view, great amenities. Mattress not as comfortable as you'd expect from a resort of this caliber.

The location was nice. Don't book this room thinking you will be getting the price you see. It will be about $100 more a night than the listed price. There is an extra fee for everything. I am just waiting for the 2 weeks after checkout fee because I am sure it's coming.

Location Extra daily resort fee. No slippers or free bottled water for Marriott member. Valet parking not answering phone. Only valet parking available. Bathroom cabinetry old and worn out. Poor water pressure for shower.
Noise from street
Breakfast is included. Beds are good enough. Almost no water pressure in the shower.... seriously, it's awful. The room smelled like they just spray Febreeze all over the place instead of opening the window every once in a while. The breakfast food was mostly good enough, but nacho cheese inside of an omelette? Such a gross surprise. I was also unplesantly surprised to see that i had to pay $10 a night to park in super tiny spaces.
How clean the rooms were & the value for the money
Room was nice for the money, we had a nice view of the ocean. They remodeled the lobby, it looks nice. Air conditioning did not work at all., shower door opened out, so you couldn't enter or close bathroom door. Made using the bathroom inconvenient. I'm surprised anyone would approve that.

Love the hotel. Staff was very attentive. Just surprised when I received such a big charge for such a cheap toothbrush. For $200 a night I would have expected it to be free. Expensive dollar store toothbrushes.

Location is great! Friendly staff! Good vibes at the rooftop bar and food was good! Parking prices are ridiculously high!!! Self park and valet should not be the same price an. Regardless $22 dollars a night is offensive!! Layout of room was a little awkward with the bathroom being super close to the bed and the shower door almost hitting the bathroom door... Otherwise room was nice!
The location is across from the beach (although not why we were there) and the staff was nice. They have great marketing. Put the beautiful renovated rooms first on the website. Then when someone gets duped into paying $225 A NIGHT, they check in and realize they are getting one of the old, dirty, dilapidated rooms where the AC doesnt work, the mattress is worn and slants inward and there is mold and peeling paint on the bathroom ceiling. Perhaps you should be up front about what room you are getting at booking. Or maybe adjust the price so if you get an unrenovated room it reflects the motel like quality room you are receiving. The staff was nice and the renovated lobby was pretty. No doubt it will be a Hilton quality hotel by the end of the renovations.
liked the location and staff Attention to detail was missing ( fresh cookies on arrival, coffees and toiletries replaced for day 2, room service tray pick up)
The Staff was really great!! So helpful and courteous at check in. Hallways third floor smelled bad. Water damage or something. But the room was lovely
I have never written a review, don't usually have time or really notice the little differences between hotels. Well this was an exception....The hotel is under major construction, which was not mentioned anywhere. It was literally drywall and dust everywhere. After the check-in attendant telling me "well we tell everyone who calls in to book a room with us about it, you must have booked with an affiliate" me and my fiance decided to stay anyway. As we waited 7 minutes for the elevator, we started doubting our decision, then we got to the room....no sheets, couch was open, cushions everywhere scattered throughout the room, and the toilet hadn't been flushed. I called the front desk and they said they would bring up keys for another room, as we waited, which took a while, since the elevator wasn't working, a nice employee Irene showed up. But in the meantime we booked a room at another hotel in the area. Well, since our wedding will be in the area in 8 months, we know one hotel that will not be on the recommended list of places to stay.
