The owner/manager is so helpful and kind. He can arrange taxis and is more than willing to give advice on buses, taxis, etc The rooms are what you would expect for $20 a night. It's walking distance to the Zanzibar ferry as well. wifi worked and so did the AC A bit loud because it's in the city centre but if you are just looking for a bed for the night, this works
I had made my booking and paid two weeks in advance of staying through Kayak, though when I called the hotel to confirm, my booking was not confirmed at the hotel. The hotel was fully booked and they had given away my reservation. There was no support from the hotel staff to find alternate accommodation. Overall, a very frustrating experience. I had heard similar accounts during my trip to Dar Es Salaam from other travelers booked at The Peacock. The location is also not the best. I would not recommend this hotel.
