Wonerful suitation and ample parking. Facilities for everyone. No
Good location, appropriate for families with children, late breakfast (until 12.00), spa facilities
The hotel site is situated in a very quiet surrounding and offers a lot of possibilities for walking, sports, culture etc. The night rest of the guests can be fully respected. There was no lift at the hotel and the stairs at the entrance are difficult for elderly people.
It was very clean Beds were uncomfortable, doubles were actually singles pushed together which isnt very romantic at all. No translation whatsoever which made it difficult to understand anything going on, even food menus. The staff spoke english however.
We stayed last year on our visit to the Nurburgring and believe it is well worth the 20km drive. Lovely.
nice location for visiting the krater lakes, silent and cozy atmosfer, rooms are big and comfortable, smal kitchen in the room.
Well located in the Eifel. Daun center 5 min footpath. Small beergarden with restaurant 3 min footpath. The receptionist was a little strange. Restaurant in my opinion overclassed, as midweek I would prefer some "normal" food - star kitchen is not necessary every evening. Breakfast standard. As I don't like operas (in the morning), breakfast was in a hurry as all the time aria where played in the breakfast room.
Beautiful room and very well furnished, nice breakfast with an enormous choise in teas. A lot of restaurants nearby as well as possibilities in the hotel. There was no ventilator in the room for warm days and no coffee and tea facilities. The way up and down to the hotel was very steap and a stoplight or a mirror should be present to avoid collisions of cars going up and down.
Friendly receptionists, good location, excellent breakfast Rooms are noisy, beds could be better, very small bathrooms, small pool, good dinner restaurant (used to have a Michelin star but not anymore) but a la carte prices are very high and not in line with quality and service.
Pleasant welcome, good facilities, helpful staff, and good food
Very nice area, close to the 'maar', many opportunities for walking/hiking. Very kind and helpful staff. Good cuisine, excellent breakfast buffet. Nice swimming pool and sauna facilities. Good atmosphere, although somewhat old-fashioned (e.g. the medieval dresses of the servants in the restaurant); this is a matter of personal taste, however. There were some building activitities ongoing due to the extension of the hotel with a new wellness wing, which will be finalised by September/October 2010.
Food was very good, evening meal and breakfast. Very peaceful, large room with balcony. Good sized pool, and two saunas and steam room, watch out for the mixed nude useage, not my cup of tea! Lake was an enjoyable walk, close by. No tea making facilities. A bit old fashioned and fussy for our liking.
Can't recommend this enough. Staff were fantastic and the food was superb. How they do it for the price I don't know. The rooms were very spacious and cleans and ours had a balcony. Although we arrived late on a busy friday night in our motorcycle clothing covered in dirt they made time for us and made us feel very welcome. All the food is locally sourced incuding the beer! Again five stars all round.
A little gem of a hotel. Good value, execellent food and lovely rooms.
There was a refrigerator in the room. As for the restaurant existed on tha first floor,it was delicious and the highest at dinner too. The place the reception has not been understood.
Centrally located. Friendly, helpful staff. Room was bright, clean, comfortable and spacious. Nice bar/restaurant, with excellent free wireless internet facilities via laptops provided for guest use. External appearance of the hotel - but don't be put off by this.
The relaxed atmosphere with the Hotelier very accomodating. Very patient with me, as my language skills left alot to be desired. The rooms and location were outstanding International invite to stay, however struggled with english, as I did with German, making things a bit difficult. If wanting international guests the responsibility should be with the Hotel to ensure such barriers can be overcome
Excellent breakfast, Quiet, Beautifall decoration A bit small bathroom
The big nice room with balcony, the contact with te staff, the excellent meals foor a reasonable price The bathroom was very clean, but rather small.
The kindness of the people
A beautiful hotel in agreat location. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and helped us greatly when we had a bit of a disaster
The rooms were clean and tidy. Perfect for our needs. The staff were particularly attentive, and willing to help in any way possible.
Great placement, lots of information from the staff.
Staff spoke good english. Central location in the town but quiet. Good base from which to explore the Eifel region of Germany No bad points to mention.
A marvellous place to stay. Staff were kind enough to feed our group an excellent meal even though we came back to the hotel very late. Really helpful and great value. Highly recommended.
very nice place to stay , would happily re vist great area to be in for walking / mountain biking etc
nice people, real good beds en nothing went wrong! -
Small, family run
Very friendly and accommodating staff. Excellent quality and value for money evening meal.
It was a nice simple hotel. The name fitted the hotel perfectly. The staff was excellent and very friendly.
Friendly and hlpful staff (family business), English spoken, and saw staff trying to help French visitors too. Excellent breakfast. Lovely little town. The Hotel is on the main square and is opposite a very good Eis Cafe (Icecream Palour/coffee shop) No obvious reception desk, not really a problem though.
Nice place to stay.
Excellent hotel staff, very friendly.
Friendly staff. Nice room. Clean. Noisy on the square, in hall, next door neighbor, etc if you're a light sleeper.
Accomodations were more than ok. Staff is very friendly, accurate and helpfull. Exellent location from which to explore the environment by motorbike. Very near to start of i.e. Eiffel motor routes.
Very friend welcome by the owner. Very clean and modern room. Excellent food. Breakfast typically continental. Great location for the Nurburgring and as an overnight stay on our way home from Brno Motogp. Did not accept credit cards as payment. You have to visit the hole in the wall across the street
After driving from Sweden with a friend we checkt in at Beim Holzschnitzer. Excellent room, clean and really good value for money. Nice dinner in the hotel restaurant after some exaiting laps at the Nurburgring.
Very friendly atmosphere
Excellent location for motorcycling holiday with surrounding roads and proximity to the Nurbergring. Friendly efficient staff and good food and beer. A very laid back stay. no
The owner and it's staff are very easy going. We were there mountainbiking in the area. We could stall our bikes in a locked place and clean them afterwards. A special place to dry and clean dirty clothes. Good breakfast and nice price.
very friendly atmosphere with welcoming hosts and a comfortable room made the stay very enjoyable . We will be returning .
Excellent staff, excellent food, friendly locals.
Clean, quiet, beautiful surroundings, kind hotel staff, good food for breakfast. . TV didn't work. Water temperature in the shower is variable. Not possible to have lunch/dinner on site.
The hotel is in countryside and has quite which is important when you want to relax. Also has horses in the area.
Comfortable, clean and quiet. Gorgeous countryside. Nurburgring only 5 minutes away. Superb resteraunts a 15 euro taxi ride away. Good for kids with small animals to see. Breakfast very good. Unable to get a beer at the hotel in the evenings or food. Had to get taxi to Nurburg. 15 euros.
Quiet and peaceful location ideally suited for our trip to the Nurgburgring, friendly staff, good food. Will stay there again the next time we visit.
Yes: The lack of enlightning in the room: impossible to read in the room in the evening.
hard to find Rothenbach
This is our 2nd stay at Haus Sonneck and still the best we have experienced in Europe!! Great value, beautifull rooms, nice breakfast, wake to the sounds of the countryside and far enough from the Nurburgring that you don't hear the cars when its time to sit back and relax in the courtyard. Not one thing.
The hotel is set in the open countryside making it nice and quite, but is not to far from main villages (5 minutes to the next village with three resturants serving good food and 15 minutes to the nurburgring) The room was modern and comfortable with a nice view over fields. Breakfast had a nice range of choice. During our stay the hotel resturant was not open due to the owner not being very well, but other guests staying in the hotel did say that they had stayed in 2009 and the resturant was open and did have good food with large portions.
Very accommodating and friendly staff, very clean.
The friendliness of all the staff who were most helpfull and very pleasant
We have spend 4 nights in this hotel and hoping we could spend a few more. The room is cozy and comfort. Of course very clean and tidy. Walking out the balcony you can certainly take a deep breath and relaxing with the nature. Hotel staffs are all very nice and friendly to us. Breakfast was excellent too. The hotel is very closed to the famous lake in Daun, and a few minutes to the town centre. Nothing.
We liked the quiet, picturesque location with friendly helpful staff also the easy access and parking. The five minute drive to Daun and easy reach to the Autobahn network was ideal for our purposes. We enjoyed our stay and were reluctant to leave.
Very good restaurant and typical food!!!
Pleasant welcome, good meals and service. The room decoration was rather dark.
