The staff was guest and helpful, the property and facilities were nice. They upgraded us upon arrival. It was quite, peaceful and beautiful even with a wedding and other events happening. The only thing that lacked was the ability to get ice in the building, it would have been nice to have a microwave, and there wasn't a guest book that told about all of the amenities and where to access them.
The location and landscaping was really nice. The flowers around the property were really beautiful. The fitness center and nature walks are pleasant. The pool and cabanas were also pleasant for lounging. The reception area was tastefully arranged. The free coffee and tea in the gym lounge was also great. The interior decor of the room left much to be desired. The room felt dark and depressing, and the decor was really hideous and not welcoming. The signage around the property was also poor, so when I had a guest come to visit me, it took several minutes of providing directions before my guest was able to find my room. A basic sign saying "Rooms 700-1000 --->" would be incredibly helpful on such a large and sprawling property. The coffee provided in the Sunset restaurant was dreadful - the acrid, burnt taste could not be masked even with generous amounts of cream and sugar. Please fix this!
Very pretty and peaceful setting. The staff is very professional and attentive. The location is perfect for my purpose, which was family business and staying out of the beach/resort fray closer to the water. No in-room coffee. You have to slog up to the separate building where the registration desk is located to get it. Form doesn't follow function with the new décor. Bedside lights shine straight into the face and aren't adjustable. The faux abacus headboard isn't comfortable to lean against. The look was probably a good idea on paper, but that's pretty much where it stops.
The decor was pleasant The place was advertised and appeared very high end. Boasting a recent multimillion dollar renovation. But the original single pane sliding glass door leaked and made that half of the room cold. Not that you could really tell because the heater hardly worked. Despite turning it up to 90, only like warm air came out. All the lights are on motion/timers. So they go off al the one. There's about a 1 inch gap at the bottom of the door to the main hall and no privacy on the porch area st all. The toilet was only surface cleaned and there's no microwave. and they tacked on a $39 "hotel fee" which I had no idea about. It couldn't have been bad for $100 a night room, with a token pastry and oatmeal type breakfast. But for over $200, and no breakfast.... oh and to order in... they wanted $10 for a yogurt parfait (now of course I didn't get one, so maybe they're amazing but for that price who would) and charge a 23% gratuity (really?!?!?) and a $10 delivery fee. So it would have been $23 for some yogurt and granola!!!
The rooms were out dated and you could hear everything from the rooms next to you to the rooms above you...honestly a super 8 motel probably has better sound proofing...The food was over priced and the pool was so dirty. I would never stay at this hotel again even if it was free.
The Chaminade setting is fabulous. It is nestled in the mountains that overlook forest and the beautiful Monterey Bay. There are patios with tables that overlook these views. The breakfast buffet was a good value ($15-18) for the selections offered, especially considering the dining area overlooked both forest and ocean. There was an additional $25 per night resort fee required at check in, in addition to the price I paid through Kayak. I thought the resort fee was included in the listed Kayak price. Also, the rooms are basic, with no safe, microwave, or mini fridge.
great view, awesome pool and restaurant, perfect location
The customer service is superior, the location is ideal. The room looked nice just a couple minor areas things needed to be addressed. TV did not work and the cleaning crew needed to revisit our room. They addressed my concerns immediately!!
beachfront room. that's it. $300 and didn't even get a bottle of water in the room. they told me they "don't do that anymore" poor condition of bathroom overall run down feeling
You can't beat the location, but the price is steep. Lots of families and kids around the pool. I was staying with a friend and we could hear a lot of noise from the rooms on either side of us, which was difficult to sleep through. It wasn't late night noise. It was early morning families rising before 6am on Sunday morning.
The staff was really helpful and kind. The view is gorgeous and it's close to everything. The room was clean and upgraded. There was still some renovations going on an it was very confusing when trying to find our way around the facility.
Over looked the beach and ocean. On our Room Service to the pool. The food was cold. That's the only thing I didn't like.
We have not been to Santa Cruz in years, and have never stayed at The Dream Inn. We will definitely be back. What a beautiful venue and location. Our room was lovely, and the front desk service polite, service oriented and professional.
Loved the location. The rooms were small but nice and clean. The restaurant is really nice with great views. The pools and hot-tub are filthy and 90% kids under 5. The hotel carpets common bathrooms and stuff are just Dirty. Staff RARELY pick up the phone when you need something. They automatically charge you a $25/night Parking fee whether you park there or not.
All rooms oceanfront with balconies. Clean, vibrant and great location. Nice restaurant on property, Aquarius. Fire pits, pool, spa. Rooms do not black out No bell hop
Great hotel for the entire family! Walking distance to the wharf and boardwalk. The views of the ocean from each hotel room are fantastic. We will do it again!
I like the location and the service. This hotel at $600/night is wildly overpriced. It should be $250-300 at most. I didn't even get free parking (had to pay $25/day) even though I was completely ripped off. Unfortunately I had no other viable options.
Staff was very friendly, and the location was beautiful. Rooms were not nearly as nice as their website leads you to believe. No exhaust in the bathrooms, and our heater didn't work. Also, had a very old TV, I haven't seen a tube style TV in a long time. Only coffee available with continental breakfast.
Great staff and private beach. Location, did not realize it was so far out of downtown loop. The rooms could also be a bit more updated for the price we payed.
The hotel was perfectly located for me. It was quiet and a very comfortable place to stay. Great water pressure and lots of hot water. Continental breakfast was pretty basic, but not noteworthy. Guests can walk to the beach and have access to beach towels No.
How cute the cottages were. The view from our room to the cove was so nice. It's also not far from shadow brook restaurant.
Great location, access to a quiet cove. Great neighborhood. Distance from Capitola center
Everything, it was perfect. Not one complaint. No
Very European feeling. Nestled privately into a spot within site of the beach.
The owners were very nice! We had a great time.
We had a 'studio' that had a bed, a bathroom, and a small kitchenette. Mini fridge, stove, sink, microwave. It was perfect for two people. Very clean and staff really nice and courteous. Room needed just a little TLC. Nothing major just some small touch ups. Really cute place and I feel bad complaining at all. Heater in the room was broken and they had a small space heater to use. Really wasn't an issue with us, but might be for some.
It has a lot of character and very pretty rooms. The only thing I would change is the size of the bathroom
Great owners. Great views. Old time, beach milieu. Good continental breakfast. The bathroom was a bit old, the pipes were funky, could really use some updating. Crappy bagel toaster.
