10.0 Excellent
Pros: My goodness, this was utterly super in all respects. We've given out a few maximum "10" scores over a period, but if this could score "11" it would have it. Have stayed at hundreds of properties over a good few years and for us, this was the cream of the crop. We are motorcyclists and we were touring with a friend, hence one night only at each place over nine days as we move long distances each day to our next destinations. We are no less discerning than any other guests and like value for money and cleanliness / comfort after a long day of riding. The Coach House had these in bucket-loads and was so very charming. The décor was stunning in the rooms and also in the breakfast lounge. Lovely mix of modern and older furniture and all absolutely spotless. The largest bed we have ever slept on and so comfortable. Breakfast was glorious, and beautifully cooked. An outdoor patio that looked down onto a "secret garden" below (also adjoined to the property) and we sat outside in the warm sun to relax. This is a credit to Paula and Trish who made us greatly welcome. Talk about enthusiastic .... we felt we'd known them for ages - they were just so pleasant, warm and friendly. Don't miss this one. We will definitely stay here again ourselves.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Trish is a great host and nothing is too much trouble , the breakfast was fantastic with more choices than I've ever seen before !! We only stayed one night but we where in an adjacent annex which was great with its own front door and separate kitchen . The bathroom was very large with a freestanding bath in it ! Very clean , tidy and spacious
Cons: Our original booking was cancelled and we where offered this as an alternative , the price of the booking was honoured , the only thing was that this property is about 30 mins walk away from Dawlish

Pros: The rooms that we used were larger than average and had a spectacular view across the bay to the sea. The king-size bed was extremely comfortable. We had additional furniture to relax in plus there was a table and chairs cutlery and glasses for your use if your wanted them. Our host Fiona was very helpful and obliging. The breakfasts offered would have matched some five star hotels
Cons: The Chamber of Commerce for Dawlish need to review their dining facilities within the town. The offer that was available to us on a Sunday or Monday evening was very down market. We therefore had to travel out of the town to a local pub for our evening meal.

Pros: We had a choice of breakfast depending on what we fancied. The cooked breakfast was freshly cooked by the owner and included only those items we asked for which was nice. The accommodation was to a high standard and everything was of good quality (the towels deserve special mention for being the largest, thickest towels we have encountered). The bathroom itself was large and superbly equipped.

Cons: The room was a little cramped and the bed too soft for our liking ( a matter of taste admittedly). The bath towels could have been larger. Otherwise all fine.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was furnished for comfort and artistic flair. The location was perfect. The host, Susan, was welcoming and helpful.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I found Sue to be most welcoming and pleasant. I marvelled at the "State of the Art "shower room. I have stayed in numerous hotels and guest house all over Europe +++but this was The Most Ingenious shower room ever! !You have to try it! Whilst everything was typically 'bijou 'for an Victorian guest house, everything was most tastefully arranged and Spotlessly Clean. Shame there are only 3 guest rooms! ! Sue doesn't do breakfasts, however it's great being able to take your time in the morning and Not have to rush about in case breakfast is going to finish. I personally prefer to go out for brunch at my leisure
Cons: There wasn't anything I didn't like

Pros: Absolutely beautiful location and accommodation. Extraordinarily welcoming and accommodating hosts, friendly and always only too happy to make sure our stay was as comfortable as possible. Breakfast was perfect, delicious and plenty. The selection of garden toys, DVDs and games kept the children entertained when we decided to spend an ‘evening in’, and for us adults we had fun playing on the pool table. Couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay for a couple nights.
Cons: Could not have been better.

Pros: Friendly and accommodating staff, good facilities available. Fabulous breakfast! Very central to town.
Cons: There was no wardrobe in room, only a cupboard with a rail at waist height. It didn't bother me as I was only there for one night, however if you were staying longer you would need somewhere to hang your clothes.

7.5 Good
Pros: The hotel is beautiful and the food was great
Cons: The hotel is slightly overpriced and I’m expecting at least a sauna or some sort of spa facility for the price of the room. An open air bath tub is very romantic but not very practical.

Pros: Excellent restaurant from chef Michael Caines. Friendly, caring staff. Great views.
Cons: Very small portions for breakfast and bar food.

Pros: The welcome was wonderful and the young staff could not have been more helpful. The room was very comfortable and clean. It was my husband's birthday and the staff were very kind. The grounds are beautiful, with stunning outdoor sculptures. The view of the estuary is delightful. I would certainly come back again.
Cons: The quality of the breakfast did not match the restaurant food. Porridge was made with water and the omelette Arnold Bennett was just an ordinary omelette. Minor issues, but one expects the highest culinary standards in such an establishment.

7.5 Good
Pros: Nice location
Cons: Dinner. Poor quality food and the arrangements in the dining room seemed to be from the 1960’s or 70’s.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: A really welcoming hotel that was a very pleasant place to stay. Our family room was a good size even with 4 beds. The beds were comfortable and there was effective aircon. The shower was hot and some nice small toiletries provided. Plenty of storage with the large wardrobe. The grounds are lovely, set in a beautiful location looking over the sea and even at peak holiday season, didn't feel too busy. The large lawn area with play equipment is ideal for children. A bonus to be able to reach the beach with a 10 minute walk.
Cons: My only quibble was that the drinks were definitely hotel bar prices, a little steep, especially as the food seemed reasonably priced. The house white was nice however. An iron in the room may have been handy, but this can perhaps be requested.

Cons: Bar service was slow at times
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very clean comfortable hotel, the breakfasts were very good
Cons: The evening meal on our first night was not good, starters ok but the main meal was very disappointing the vegetables were just warm and looked like they had been stood under the lighting for quite some time, not fresh, the roast potatoes were hard we couldn’t even cut them and the lamb was just fatty, very little meat hence the reason why we cancelled our meals for the rest of the stay, although we were given a reduced rate the meals were not good value.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Brilliant location.
Cons: Don’t judge me by language

Pros: The sound of the waves, gently breaking on the beach. The cry of the seagulls. The quiet surroundings.
Cons: Large low bedroom window (room 7) opened outwards from the bottom and appeared to have no safety stop - not a problem for us, but a child might easily tumble out onto the pavement two floors below.

Pros: You can't beat the location; perfect walking distance to everything we could possibly want. Tracey and family looked after us wonderfully; the room and whole house are decorated with care and everything was always spotlessly clean.
Cons: The mattress was very soft and moved around a bit in the bed frame - but some of that may be personal preference as we like a firm mattress. Also a very tiny thing in a wonderful stay.

6.8 Good
Pros: clean room and big bathroom
Cons: The restaurant closed early when we were told to come in for dinner after 8pm due to an event they were hosting that same day....then at 9pm when we arrived for our dinner they told us it was closed! Without any other suggestions or offer or warning as hotel guests....So we went around the village in the rain looking for another restaurant but all were closed or not serving food. Check out time too early 10am! Was all too rushed to finish our breakfast and not letting us know lunch and dinner hours have been shortened for our arrival. We ended up without lunch and dinner the day we checked in.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Dawlish itself has limited facilities, but the accommodation has excellent access to the beaches, the small town and the train station. It's a five minute train ride to Teignmouth, where there is much more to see and do. The accommodation was very clean and we were very warmly welcomed. The room was quite spacious and has good facilities. The bed was very comfortable too. Breakfast was superb, with fresh juices, fresh fruit, cereals and a huge cooked breakfast. This was an excellent choice for our one night stay and we would recommend highly.
Cons: The shower head was in need of tightening, as it did not stay in place, making showering awkward. But this is a trivial issue to report and would be no issue ordinarily. So there was nothing we didn't like.
