Pros: Gorgeous house, clean and comfortable. Exceptional hosts, Noel and Tony, are warm, friendly and helpful.

Pros: The owners made us so welcome and nothing was too much trouble
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is a beautiful, beautiful house in a lovely location, the facilities were amazing, so were our hosts; they could not do enough for us and exceeded our all our expectations. I cannot find a single fault.
Cons: Nothing, this was an absolutely fantastic B&B, I liked everything about it.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fabulous in every way. Wonderful hosts who made our stay very enjoyable. Would recommend whole heartedly.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly and thoroughly welcoming hosts.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hosts were wonderful, location beautiful and the room was stunning. Everything was there that could have been hoped for. The breakfast was fantastic.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Not sure whether we liked the farm house or our hosts more! We didn't have our own transport so Tony was kind enough to pick us up from the train station (and dropped us off too, as well as dropping and picking us to/from the starting point for the 3 Peaks Challenge). The farm house is situated in a very pretty and peaceful hamlet - imagine rolling hills, sheep, totally remote and cut off from busy city life - which suited us just fine. Our stay felt more like a home away from home and Noël and Tony were super welcoming and went out of their way to make us feel comfortable. Both very were happy to answer any questions we had and happy to just generally have a chat with us. Our room was very comfortable with an en suite and the bay window seat overlooking the front garden was ace. Lovely stay - we highly recommend to walkers or anyone looking to get away for some quiet.
Cons: We liked everything! The house has so much history and character and Noël and Tony were such amazing hosts and genuinely nice and friendly people that we couldn't fault our stay at all.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The building was beautiful, the surroundings were amazing. The bed was so comfy and the breakfast and packed lunch was delicious. Staff were very welcoming and friendly.
Cons: After a 25 mile hike l really wanted a soak in a bath but the shower was very good.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic place to stay, we had a very warm welcome off the owners, really nice people. I was doing the Yorkshire three peaks on Saturday and didn’t expect to get breakfast as we had an early start, they got up especially for us to make us breakfast, that really was very kind and considerate of them. I will definitely stay here again in the near future as we go to Yorkshire quite often. Thank very much.

Pros: Perfect hosts. Very enjoyable stay.

Pros: Wonderful and friendly hosts and great reception on arrival. Took an interest in us and had a lot of conversation about The Cricket and Wimbledon. Lovely room with private outdoor table and chairs. Breakfast was Full English and well cooked with local produce used including daily fresh eggs. Cereals fruit and toast as well. No traffic noise at all except the twittering birds and sheep baaing. Great few days stay and will definitely visit again.
Cons: Nothing really. Was all good.

Pros: Breakfast was cooked to order and included farm fresh eggs from the chickens at the farm. The sheep are just outside the garden. The room was spacious and very comfortable. It's a winding drive to get there, but gorgeous countryside. Many hiking options from the farm. Many eating/pub choices in the nearby town.

Pros: Excellent. Wonderful hosts and gorgeous location. Very relaxing stay.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A model B&B in every way. Wonderful attention to detail. Friendly. Great location, including for country walks.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved everything about Thorney Mire Barn. Our hosts Nick and Zena were welcoming and provided useful information and sugggestions for our stay. Home made cakes and chocolates on arrival added a little extra feeling of welcome. Breakfasts were a highlight with homemade Bircher muesli with fresh fruit, home made bread and a variety of locally sourced foods for the hot breakfast. Nick and Zena keep their own hens so the eggs were very fresh. Our room was spacious and comfortable with a well equipped bathroom, quality soaps etc and sumptuous towels. The bed was large and a delight to sleep in. T.V. and wifi worked well. The Barn overlooks a wood which is home to red squirrels which we saw on several occasions. There are many good walking tracks in the surrounding area and Thorney Mire has facilities to help walkers deal with wet and muddy gear. We stayed for four nights and loved every minute.
Cons: We tried to think of suggestions for improvement but couldn’t fault our stay.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Only spent one night there (not two) as personal issues meant we had to return home earlier than expected

10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is a real hidden gem. Fantastic facilities in a beautiful location. The breakfast was absolutely amazing!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Not a single thing they could possibly do to make it any better. Beautiful house with a view of Pen y Ghent, two lovely people who did everything they could to make us comfy and welcome after a long day on the trails, including offering an evening meal and receiving a package of our next day clothes for us and even driving us back to Gearstones for our next morning start. I've travelled all over the world but I can't think of any better B&B I've stayed in. Thanks for everything!
Cons: Nothing could possibly have been better.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Lovely apartment style with beautiful gardens. Sitting area downstairs with small fridge. Host was wonderful and made us an evening meal at short notice. Very organized for choices of breakfast and tasty food
Cons: Everything was great

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely and quiet location, you get a little apartment style room to yourself. Living room downstairs and bedroom and bathroom upstairs. Cheryl is lovely and really looked after us. Had breakfast made for us when we wanted. Cannot fault this accommodation at all.
Cons: Nothing.. except we couldn’t stay longer
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Superb spacious accommodation, more like a boutique appartment than a B&B room. Fabulous terrace and comfy furniture to sit out and enjoy the afternoon sun. Modern, funky but functional, and comfy interior to enjoy the evening - even Netflix on the TV. Wonderful breakfast served in the living room. And most of all a genuine and friendly owner who makes the difference between just an overnight stay and a holiday experience.
Cons: There was nothing to dislike in my opinion - the whole experience was top notch.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Both my wife and i were totally chuffed. The breakfasts were superb, the privacy was much appreciated and we loved the rooms space and style. Cheryl was the perfect host both thoughtful and helpful and the fact that you get your own streamed garden with great little touches such as the binoculars for watching the garden birds was the icing on the cake. It is virtually like having your own little cottage for your stay......brilliant.....no hesitation in recommending Ginger & Wood
Cons: I suppose it could be argued that you cant just walk to the local shop...... but this would be to miss the point of this superb location and surroundings so for us there was nothing we didn't like

Pros: Alan the host was friendly and helpful with local knowledge giving directions for a walk and places to eat. Vegetarian breakfast was good served promptly in dining room with a smile.
Cons: As a vegetarian the smell of meat cooking made me feel uncomfortable as it was very strong. The odour pervaded throughout the house. Due to the faulty window it was impossible to open to get fresh air into the room.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Brookhouse Guest House is an excellent location for the Yorkshire 3 peaks. Alan is a great host and the cooked breakfasts are fantastic. We had the optional 3 course dinners which are up to restaurant standard - recommend the prawn starter; pork cheek or lamb shank main & cherry & amaretto brûlée. We have stayed at Brookhouse many times and will do so again. It particularly great coming back to a lovely warm room & having a hot shower after a long 12 hour trek! Would recommend visiting Settle - lots of lovely cafes, Skipton, Kirkby Lonsdale & Kendal as well as the local cheese specialist (The Courtyard Dairy). If you like craft beer - The Bunkhouse cafe (Clapham village); Bar 13 & Talbot Arms (both in Settle); The Royal Barn (Kirkby Lonsdale); The Factory Tap (Kendal) & Beer Monkey Brewery (Skipton) are great places to drink with a great choice of local beers at reasonable prices.

Pros: Room very comfortable and very clean. Breakfast excellent, staff helpful and friendly. Food in the evening very good. Location perfect for walking and visiting the Dales.
Cons: Don't be put off by no designated parking, generally there is space at the front of the Inn or on the road and small free car park opposite. The outside gable end wall is due a coat of paint but inside the rooms are very nice.

Pros: Bfast & service were excellent. Room was comfortable and nicely decorated. Location fantastic.
Cons: Helpful to be told to ask for milk for room & to have a conditioner in bathroom rather than 2 shampoos. In terms of the environment I had too many towels for one person & hadn’t used them all when more arrived.

Pros: Great location in the middle of Settle. Friendly staff. Excellent food and drink. Good choice of real ales. Folk club in room next to bar provided entertainment without being obtrusive. Stayed in the middle of really hot weather, so helpful that fans were put in rooms to give some comfort.

Cons: I know it’s terrible to say, but I like to see the news, so a small tv in a corner would be cherry on the cake.

6.3 Good
Pros: Fantastic village location. Friendly staff. Nice showers and facilities such as drying room and bike store.
Cons: Beds creaky, expensive breakfast for what it was. Car park too small.
9.5 Excellent
Cons: Great shower
6.3 Good
Pros: Location.
Cons: There was a manager which refused us to ask other guests in the community room if it was their car which parked in the middle of two parking spaces, so that we could park there too. This was very wired as she seemed not to know that one of the main principles of the youth hostel movement is the exchange between people. Her reaction made everyone around feel very uncomfortable, including the co-workers. There were no hangers in the shower and the whole property smelled very much of plastic.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Excellent breakfast. Good shower
Cons: Toilets didn't always flush, meant a lot of noise at night. Squeaky doors.
6.3 Good
Pros: Nice location, room itself was fair for the price
Cons: It was unbelievably hot, the windows were closed when we arrived and the room was so stuffy. We asked staff members for a fan or to open the windows. We were told the only thing they could offer us was some ice. Apparently the windows had to be closed for security measures, but it was 4 adults in the room on the 1st floor. None of us slept a wink, we were all so uncomfortable we had our door open wide open to try and get some of the air circulating. Waste of money for a nights kip if you can't even sleep. I spoke to a different staff member in the morning who was apologetic and said we could have had the windows opened all along as there were no children in our room. Not happy about that at all!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Lovely setting, very clean. Comfortable accommodation. Great food. Communal rooms well stocked. Excellent garden area.
Cons: No issues at all.

8.7 Excellent (280 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Located in Skipton, The Buck is within a 5-minute drive of Gordale Scar and Malham Cove. Free self parking is available onsite.
6.3 Good
Pros: From outside the building is impressive, the food was very good, room comfortable.
Cons: the seating areas both at the front and the rear were shabby, the front definitely needs weeding and grass cutting, the bar areas were uninviting and lacked a comfortable space/seating, only sofa was in the family room and had children running around. The breakfast room was only used for breakfast and was a wasted space, this could be better used as a lounge area for residents and the main dining area used for breakfast instead.
5.8 Okay
Pros: The breakfast was delicious, the surrounding area was brautiful.
Cons: We were not aware that the hotel is prodomently a dog hotel therefore all rooms were dog friendly. The pillow smelt like dog and made the feel of the room very uncomfortable and unclean. The room was also very small and dingy.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Room was lovely and clean with wonderful views and perfect location, breakfast was also lovely as were the staff.
Cons: Room was small but this wouldn't put me off staying again.
10.0 Excellent

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The friendly nothing is too much trouble attitude towards us and our four legged friends
Cons: nothing all 100%
7.0 Good
Pros: The location and the breakfast.
Cons: The unusual road leading to the hotel.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Location was amazing, with choice of walks from the door. The staff were friendly and welcoming and the atmosphere was homely and inclusive. Everywhere was clean and tidy.
Cons: We visited during the heatwave, so a room fan would have made our stay more comfortable.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was very comfortable, with a great bed and a well-appointed bathroom with a nice shower. Everyone on staff was lovely—good humored, helpful, gracious. The food in the pub was some of the best we had on our vacation in England. Many traditional favorites, but prepared with a modern twist. Prices are very reasonable, too. Highly recommend this inn if you are coming to the Dales area.
Cons: Really, there is nothing I would change.
