Friendly staff and great facilities in a lovely part of the world
The comfortable and sizeable bedroom The price of mixers for shorts in the bar, they were too expensive
The staff !! Pleasant and helpful. The long corridors... the long distance to the car park, and that was through the hotel...
We had a nice stay, excellent and inexpensive evening meal and even better breakfast. no complaints
Great location. Beautiful pool and leisure facilities. V good variety for breakfast.
service good in restraunt and room cleaning. The first night of our stay we could not sleep as there was a generator just outside our window that sounded like a jumbo jet,we asked for another room they moved us to another floor,v inconvient had to get dressed and move all our belongings ourselves, the room was superior but these rooms were no extra cost just given to regulars. They did not apoligise for our disturbance.Staff on the ground v helpful during the day
excellent staff making ever effort to help you out.
the pool !!!! i could have stayed there all day and it was never too busy
We thought the kids rooms of the pub was brillant n/A
We only stayed one night. I felt it was expensive but staff were helpfull & hotel was clean There was renovations taking place, we were not informed of this and it interupted our sleep as it started early in the morning. We should have been informed of same
The restaurant was extellent. Staff were very nice. Location was wonderful. The bar was pretty lifeless on the two nights that we stayed.
breakfast was excellent and it was a nice location. Its not in Westport town(15min walk away) but it is down on the harbor and in a lovely location to be honest I don't feel the bedrooms would be classed as four star - just a bit dated for my tates maybe
The Location The Fish bar food could be better
The location was great, staff were friendly, efficient and very helpful. no
The rest, enjoyed the swimming pool and food. Not a problem as such but bedroom furnature quite dated and tv about 30 years old.
the spa, rooms,
the food and service in Fishworks restaurant was second to none.
excellent, friendly staff, location was really nice and relaxing. No
very private lovely staff and very clean had a wonderful time no
Location of the Hotel and the standard of the room was very good
The breakfast, the residence bar and the receptionist on duty was very helpful and accomodating. She even arranged taxis for all of us to and from the town itself.
Very relaxed atmosphere with river view. Very comfortable I was not advised on checking in that it was necessary to reserve a table for the evening dinner with the result that when I came down at 7.30 there were no tables free until 8.30 and even than I had to wait to be seated
The staff were exceptionally friendly from the first receptionist through to bar and restaurant staff. It wasn't long enough!!
breakfast was excellent and the bar staff were very frendly very happy with every thing
quiet but close to town centre
staaff were friendly arranging taxis for us and recommending restaurants for us to eat would love to stay there again everything was great
Being upgraded to a suite after 2 nights in a small room above noisy laundry which denied sleep. Food, service & amenities good. As above. Originally allocated room unacceptable. Hot & noisy with windows closed, very noisy when open. Took 2 days & 2 sleepless nights to be moved. Partially compensated by allocation of suite.
There was a lot of noise from people talking in the hallway outside our room till about 2.30a.m. We were also awakened at 9.30a.m. to say our breakfast was on the way. We did not order breakfast in bed.
Blazing fire in guest lounge Breakfast not great. Sausages undercooked and tasteless, bacon not well enough done.
The pleasant staff, cleanliness ad location at a value for money price No complaints
The food and drink. All aspects of accomodation were atrocious.
easy access to the town center.
Location and Staff Nothing
lovely comfortable hotel, good location very friendly helpful staff.the food in both the bistro and restaurant was excellent.
Location at centre of town excellent
What a charming hotel. The staff are friendly and attentive. There is a variety of interesting artwork and one is encouraged to have a look around at the pieces located throughout. The pub and restaurant attached offer delicious fare at reasonable prices, and the bar man took me through a tour of local whiskies. This place is full of character - both the hotel and its staff! The hotel couldn't be more centrally located, being right on the octagon with all activities within a short walk. That I couldn't stay longer.
The staff were very friendly and helpful The market outside it didnt do any favours!
The thing i liked most about our stay was the staff, an amazing group of dedicated people who were willing to help or advise on any aspect of our stay from things to do and where they were located. I look forward to returning to Westport and the Wyatt hotel will be my first stop, Thank you.
location very little parking
convenient for town centre....friendly staff terrible smell of smoke in room and for periods during night......it may have come through gap under door or from below the window where people may have been smoking outside
the food was excellent Hotel was a little dated, if you have an 02 phone there is no signal and no public internet provision
Location, friendliness of staff, pace of life in Connemara.
Beautiful hotel, food lovely, however staff not able to cope with breakfast rush. Food delicious but do not be in a hurry. Price varys according to avability on the evening, guests booking in on the day get a rate of 50 euro per couple less than what I paid for because I had booked in advance, however I was given the same rate as I happened to arrive to pay as another couple were paying and had stayed for 1 night as we had.
We enjoyed the view from the balcony. The room was a good size, comfortable and warm. Also really loved the Edwardian drawing room - very relaxing and beautiful room to sit and read in. There was no bin in the bedroom, only a small one in the bathroom. The amount of lights switches was quite confusing. We found the staff unfriendly, particularly the waitress who served us for dinner. We did not eat in the restaurant again after this experience, which was a shame as the food was good.
Location/room size/view from room Noise transmittance/tv in room had such a poor reception as to be un- watchable/ choice of fish meals having booked for the fish
Beautiful views from new rooms with balconies. Rooms are well equipped and comfortable. Comfortable large lounge with open fire and food was very good, both dinner and breakfast. Hotel looks a bit tacky at the front with cheap signs etc.. Reception very off-hand and not particularly welcoming. Price seemed quite high.
Location Contraction site at the moment, old equipment, thin walls and little privacy
Value for money. Good allround presentation. Friendly and oblidging staff.Good food and relaxed atmosphere As a family owned hotel it would be nice if members met guests in the diningroom. just a call to the tables. A nice and welcoming gesture. No hotel brochure avaible on checking out.
Food was excellent!! Best steak I ever had!!
I liked the atmosphere espc the drawing/reading room. The bar area was a bit cramped for a large no of people.
Everything! The Staff were so lovely and helpful. The room was beautiful, as were the views. The Spa was so relaxing. The whole experience was great
Beautiful location with view of the mountains from all sides of the hotel, food was fabulous, lots of activities during the day and a very relaxing spa.
Its location, ideal to go cycling etc Its poor entertainment for night time, could not imagine staying during the winter months, no tv, no interent access no music? Also tried to over charge for bar drinks!!!!
The location is stunning. Architecture is nice and rooms are different from regular hotels. The loft room was nice but not very big. Spa facilities seemed good. Overpriced - accomodation and food. Not a good family hotel, no playground or outside leisure facilities which is surprising given that Delphi have a fantastic outdoor education centre nearby. No TV in room. Perfect for singles and couples who want the spa experience. We did get an excellent babysitter though, very friendly and great with our daughter. The meal was good but not fantastic. Restaurant staff were friendly and prompt. Deluxe double room wasn't very deluxe.
The scenery of the area is spectacular! A very large bath in our beautiful room (in our spa hotel) but not enough warm (let alone) hot water to fill it. Very disappointing and so basic a thing to get right. Very silly for a place where guests want to relax. Dont bother putting a bath into the room if you cant fill it!!!
Friendly staff, 2 restaurants - food good value, good sized room, comfortable beds, excellent position in pleasant town, nice bar. No
The staff were extremely helpful especially as we had two eldery people with us. They organised a wheelchair to be made available for us during our stay.
very pleasant stay, central to the town and nightlife and staff were top class
Staff very nice, Food and location Excellent
Hotel is basic, but very clean, great restaurant in lobby called Maddens bistro. The rooms are super warm and quiet due to double windows (yes double) inner one in double glazed and outer one is single glaze to keep the old look.
The staff in general were excellent, from front desk to restaurant. We had dinner in the restaurant & it was fantastic! It's very well situated & quite reasonably priced. The heating in the room is rubbish & non-existent in the bathroom! When we pointed it out to reception the following day, she said they were aware there was a problem with that room. If so, why put guests in it?!? The hotel is being renovated & there was no mention of this online. There's no hotel car-park, just a public one beside it. We requested a double room; what we got was two single beds pushed together!!! Very comfortable as single beds go, not so much as a double!
convenience to town centre, free parking, warm and cosy creeking floors in my room and every other room.
Very comfortable a home from home feel. Nothing
Staff very friendly. Room was basic but clean. Very nice hotel but price of room was a bit expensive for what I got. Someone robbed the tv ariel so couldn't look at tv!!
Nice hotel, good location in town centre Not much atmosphere in bar
This is an excellent hotel where customers come first and the level of service is amazing and excellent This hotel is special no
The room we stayed in was magnificent. The extras like champagne reception and afternoon tea.
The food, the surroundings - fab place to stay and eat
The suite was large and they did a great job promoting the castle ambiance. A bit expensive for the run down rooms.
friendly atmosphere, beautiful scenery and a genuine willingness from all staff to help make the stay as good as possible without being in your face either. dining prices
The castle and garden. The breakfast
The staff were very friendly and the services was great. Nothing was too much trouble.
The entire experience was great.
A perfect place to relax, perfect service, great food and a magnificent view.
Our stay at the Abbeyglen was wonderful, relaxing and just what we needed away from the hub bub of Dublin life and work. It was terrific. I think the large sofa in the lobby could do with being replaced. It was obviously extremely comfortable when it was put in first but you would nearly need a crane to get out of it now. I say this for all the right reasons as alot of older people seem to visit there also and getting of the the couch could prove very difficult for them.:)
a fantastic establishment that caters for every need, the staff were very friendly and most helpful.
Warm and welcoming atmosphere. Rooms tastefully furnished and very comfortable. Spectacular views of the river from the dining room and our bedroom. Relaxing walks in the castle grounds. Food excellent both in the bar and dining room. Courteous, friendly and helpful staff. Would highly recommend the castle as a place to get away from it all. My husband and I had a wonderful break to celebrate our wedding anniversary.
Absolutely everything - this is a real gem. No.
Food very good but expensive.Good wine list and good prices.Breakfast excellent.Lovey setting and great place for walks ,very peaceful. Furniture in public area very tired and in need of replacement. The classic room we got was very small and would only pass as a 3 star hotel room.Very disappointed with the room as we had heard great things about the hotel.
Good location for getting away from it all. Food is excellent. Double room on the small side.
Atmosphere and views Tea served by room service was stewed or the water was poor
We had a beautiful room with gorgeous views. The location is idyllic, and was perfect for a totally relaxing autumn break. Loved absolutely everything.... and will definitley go back
Friendly welcome on arrival to the Hotel
The location and scenery were superb and provided a "get away from it all" experience. The old world charm of the hotel itself was also wonderful.
The location More street signage to be posted on the main road. The Hotel itself is "as good as it gets"
Nice clean hotel in excellent location. Staff very helpful. Great food. Lovely hotel and would recommend it to all.
Staff very attentive. Food in Plaza Bar was excellent
Attention to detail, design, quality of food and staff attitude Carpark could be freshened up.
Service in Restaurant Merlot was quite slow, although food was great.
the warmth and courtesy with which MY error (having failed to notice double, or insist on twin room) was immediately rectified with grace and goodwill. Also the grace, once again, with which a package which I could not manage was opened for me, and our bags stored for some hours after checkout. ...all I can think of is myinitial hesitation at going through lobby to leisure centre in a robe...arthritic difficulty in dressing meant that i did it anyway and was later reassured by fellow user of the pool who told me it was commonly done....
good facilities and central location in Westport
The first room actually smelled of smoke, but we were quickly moved to a very nice room. lovely rooms, excelent facilities and great city center location.
Warm Welcome with very helpful staff. Excellent facilities.
Hotel was comfortable and clean Modern design. Staff friendly and helpful. Our first room 605 was freezing, air conditioning didnt work, we were told use a heater that made a lot of noise. Some lights didnt work in the room. the back wall of the room had the appearance of something like a TV had been pulled off it. Eventually we were moved to another room.
The receptionist, Linda, was very good. Professional, friendly and efficient, she did a great job. It was full of kids! During the day there were organised activities for them but at night they were just running all around the place. Very noisy.
Good facilities and convenient location for the town of westport ( Quay, and Westport house)
the kids club was great.my 8 year old spent all her time at it and myself and my partner had time to relax in the pool and enjoy the music at the bar.the service in the bar was the best i've ever seen the bar staff were so frendly along with all the staff in the hotel.
Staff were very friendly and helpful Room needs to be re-furbished and was quite noisy
Very child friendly hotel with excellent kids club. Room was very run down and old fashioned. Beds very uncomfortable and pillows. Sofa bed was a joke, never seen anything like it and I have stayed in many hotels and do so regularly. Hotel overall was average. Honestly for €220 per night you expect 4 star plus hotel but it was no where near. Very dissappointed and would not recommend to others. Food too was average, ate at the bar which was fine, breakfast buffet again not great, quality just not there.
The hotel was clean and well run with a very accomodating staff. While I was on a business trip I could not help but notice its child freindly approach. I thought that the price was not very competitive. I have stayed in a Chateau in France in April for 20 euro less per night per room and similary I have spent a holiday in Venice this May and had a suite for the cost of the room in Westport.
the staff were very helpfully and nice no it was great hotel and hope to stay there again soon
Great family hotel, fantastic facilities. No
This was a very family friendly hotel with excellent facilities, good location to Westport and Westport House.
food & spa
The room was very comfortable and very clean The srevice was a little bit slow
Unique old style hotel ,personal attention. absolute quietness although close to town. not for families
Gorgeous setting, sumptuous rooms, and very helpful staff. The food in the restaurant was beautiful, with a wonderful view over the bay. The restaurant was set in a lovely room overlooking the bay, however it had no atmosphere, and the muzak began to grate somewhat after a while.
I liked the homely atmosphere and the care and attention of the staff
We had a very short stay but would have liked longer- it is a beautifully kept house with friendly welcoming staff - a real feeling of being valued as a guest. Dinner was wonderful - fresh fish was perfect, eaten in a setting that was so tranquil. This is a lovely place to stay for a quiet peaceful break.
Are room was very clean and comfortable.
A very well run hotel owned and managed as a family concern. Very suitable for couples looking for comfort and good food. Not suitable for large groups (hens/stags) and they are not encouraged Not a complaint but a car is needed but most of the clientele would travel this way
It was very comfortable..very easy walk to restaurants and the quay and Westport house and near enough to westport town to walk ...food for breakfast was beautifully cooked. Staff very pleasant. Only thing we didn't like was lack of tea making facilities in the room. We thought this was very unusual and we would have liked to be able to make ourselves a cup of tea/coffee when we liked.
Room was very good. Breakfast was good but my wife would only give 3 out of 10 for their scrambled egg. Cold. No atmosphere in the dining room. Had to go to room to get more clothes for both of us.
everything food excellent staff very warm friendly I felt very welcome
The food was excellent, the views around the hotel are great. It would appear that the place is improving each time we go there
Total relaxation Single bed was squeekey
Very friendly staff. Excellent food - evening dinner is top class. The setting of the hotel is stunning and the walks in the grounds and nearby are excellent It may be just the time of year (end May) but there are a lot of biting flies in the vicinity
The Hotel is in a nice location, the staff are friendly and the hotel has a warm friendly feeling.I had two guests to dinner. The food was excellent My room was far from clean, dust over bed the carpet is tired and stained the bathroom has seen better days. No newspapers available at reception.
kind staff ,very restful
Very welcoming, helpful staff. Most comfortable rooms and public areas. A stunning, peaceful, relaxing setting. None.
the athmosphere the relaxsation and the hotel food the interior decor could do with some redecorating
Dog friendly. Excellent breakfast. Evening meal excellent vlue for money. Facilities are very good. Lovely views, location and atmosphere.
good food, excellent service, relaxing atmosphere. Dissapointed with the room, grubby bed linen, torn curtains, dirty windows.
Same luxury as it was 36 years ago with obvious upgrades of entire facility. Accommodations are nice and the food is just wonderful. Staff is so accommodating. We loved it and wouldn't miss it when we get to Ireland.
The atmosphere of the hunting lodge, location right on the Atlantic and great food.
I thought the location of the hotel was absolutely breath taking, the facilities were clean, warm, inviting and impressive and the staff were friendly and helpful. The only thing that I could comment is that the habitants of the pitch and put grounds leave it in some what of a mess (aka sheep excraments)
it was very well located for use as a base for sight seeing
Would recommend this hotel to anyone.
Nice hotel which seems new. Quiet location in nice part of the country. Nice atmosphere and freindly staff. The hotel grounds immediately outside the building seemed to be untidy and in some spots littered. It was a pity that areas weren't cleaned as it took away from the overall appearance of the hotel
we will stay in westport country hotel again before xmas . it was fab . a bit hard to find . could not say any thing else......
Although a little out of the way, the hotel is set in lovely surroundings and was just right for our one-night stopover during our tour of Eire There was a private function going on on the day of our arrival and we felt the staff were rather stretched. The following morning one outside table was still full of dirty crocks and glasses which rather let the hotel down a bit, which was a shame.
