Nice in town boutique
The Inn is tucked into a busy neighborhood, convenient for walking to shops, restaurants and for travelers with business in the area. My room was bright and comfortable, if a bit cramped. The "balcony" on my 4th floor room consisted of a sturdy-feeling glass door to a 6" ledge and wrought iron railing, overlooking the back alley. Since I prefer fresh. air, I appreciated it, even though ithat was its only value. The Inn was fairly soundproof, but nighttime deliveries and trash collection on the alley reminded me of its urban setting. There were a few rooms overlooking the street that had attractive full balconies with space to sit and enjoy the street activity.
Other than the person at the desk, the place felt abandoned. The street was so busy and crowded I drove by twice before I found the small sign for the Inn, and then there was no unloading space in front. So I ended up driving directly into their cramped, but appreciated, underground parking garage. Adding to the lack of visible staff, I found very little printed information in the room - like posted checkout time, fire escape instructions (though Exits were marked), and information on local amenities, beyond glitzy ads for upscale shops and galleries. The facilities in the room were upscale (white linens and spread, Keurig coffee & tea selection, basket of $2 granola bar type treats), Yet housekeeping was stingy with towels, and I had to ask for a bar of soap (tiny) downstairs. The furniture could hardly be classed "antique." And no "deep tub" for soaking: this room had a walk-in ceramic tiled shower, only closed in half-way with a glass wall, the balance a curtain. The splash soaked the bathroom floor, to the point that I used both the mat and towel to mop up. I've felt more pampered at moderate chain hotels...
