Evening meal in the restaurant. Cleaniness of the room.
Convenient location, recognised level of service and standard Stained underside of top bedcover
convenience of being near main road Food in the restaurant was disappointing. Generally thought the hotel was in need of some refurbishment-i.e. carpets, mattress. Delay in checking out as meal from night before had not been added to our account-only through our honesty was it included in payment.
Cleanliness of Hotel Not enough tea bags and window clasp broken
Mistake by bar staff allowing us a bottle of Chablis for the price of a Pinot. Sure the scrambled egg was powdered like war time. I have not read the guest reviews but have answered"yes" below
Easily found and accessible, comfortable room, quiet night Slightly disorganised at breakfast, but there was apparently some kind of crisis happening
My sister's 50th birthday celebration.
The were very helpfull always cheerfull and willing to go the extra mile. Would recommend to anyone looking for a quiet comfotable place to stay. Could need a small renovation.
Staff on arrival was very nice and friendly. The room was a disgrace and should not be sold. The bathroom and towles were so unclean I chose not to shower. Lampshade missing off the wall bed was very uncomfortable. Stains on the funiture and walls. I stay in hotels a lot and this one is the worst for a very long time. Dissapointed becasue I expected more from Ramada.
Everybody was most attentive, pleasant and cheery!!
Well situated for our requirement to go to " GO APE " for a sponsored event. Quiet and pecefull surroundings. Convenient for local shops, restaurants and pubs. Friendly and helpfull staff. Trouble free booking. Will neede updating in the very near future but still had character.
Friendly staff very accomodating. Hotel needs updating old tired decoration.
Comfortable Room remove the marquee, clean the windows, redecorate in places.
nothing at all not a very good experience, toilet and hot water not working.
General atmosphere plenty of parking excellent breakfast position in the high street None
Breakfast was nice Building needs lots of attention inside and outside. Some of the staff were pleasent. The one thing that was infuriating, was that some guests were out the front of the building smoking/drinking and shouting at the early hours of the morning and kept me awake until at least 2am, not funny when you have to be up at 6am!!! A complaint was made to a member of staff in the morning, and nothing was said by them.
It was convenient to our place of business. The breakfast on the friday was poorly prepared and unpleasant. Saturday and Sunday were much better. Saturday night therev was a rather noisy Karaoke in the bar below our room. This is not the quality country hotel that the website suggests.
The room was comortable and clean. There was plenty of parking space available. Although the breakfast was buffet style it was of a good quality. The room was a little cramped, the additional single bed, which we didn't need, didn't help. The service at breakfast, replenishing the buffet, was slow and tea wasn't offered. Having said this, given the fact that the waitress doubled up as the receptionist I thought that she did very well.
would NOT recommend this hotel to anyone.
Very little Poor staff, dirty rooms, shocking food
Excellent food, evening meal and breakfast. Service exceptional especially at breakfast
To many to list None
The staff were very friendly and welcoming and the room was clean and comfortable. I was working nearby, and was an excellent location for Kings lynn and Norfolk countryside. The food in the bar was very reasonably priced and I would certainly recommend the carvery (Tues-Fri). There was no 3 network in the Crown (but this was a problem in all of Gayton) so the free Wi-Fi was most appreciated. I would recommend The Crown. There was an obvious plumbing problem (probably down to the age of the building) which meant the shower, sink and toilet made some loud noises, however this wasn't a real problem.
Quiet, friendly, charming. None
A very welcoming and friendly staff and the food was excellent. The Bathroom was accross the Landing from our Bedroom and although you could lock the door from the inside - other guests could just walk in and therefore you could not leave any of your toiletries there. No telephone or television in the room.
Private bathroom was immaculately clean, but we would have preferred a shower.
This, due to the friendliness and helpfulness of staff, the beautiful location and good facilities, is one of the best places we have ever stayed. Due to an oversight, for which we received apologies the next morning, we had to go and find our own towels.
The food was excellent. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was nice and warm. There was plenty of hot water.
The cleanliness of the room and shared facilities was excellent.
The staff were excellent nothing was too much trouble Booked 2 deluxe rooms and 1 had a broken bed (didn't say anything as only staying 1 night but I did expect better) also only baths no showers
The food was excellent. Could have done with a few more vegetarian options on the bar menu though.. The room. We got there and we were quite impressed, initially. Then we were shown to our room and were taken out to the garden where we were shown a prefab attachment. It was comfortable enough, but a Premier Inn would have been better value.
Welcoming, warm, comfortable, nice food, pleasant staff (if a little stretched!!), good location for my trip Air freshener in room over-powering and noisy! Would have preferred a shower instead of a bath (small point and not a bad one)
Having motel type rooms with parking outside the door Plenty of hot water, but low pressure, so difficult to have good shower. Lovely hot baths though.
The staff were friendly and helpful. We would stay there again The room we stayed in was clean and plesent but could do with updating
The convenience of all facilities on ground floor. The real aged look of the interior. It can never be `swish`. As we age ---------. When enjoying a drink in bar,and require a refill, the need to chase for the bar staff. but we try to understand `shortage of staff.`
I liked the central location. The TV didn't work so I was moved to another with a good TV, but the room was very cold. The old hotel had not had double glazing installed and the central heating radiator could not be adjusted. There was also a constant hum (from nearby M & S, I think) which was annoying at night.
Room was good size and the Hotel was close to local amenities The windows could do with updating as they did not supress the noise or keep the draft at bay
Reception service most helpful Stain in barh room 2
hotel badly needs refurbishing
Central town location Rooms extremely tired and in need of updating. Bathroom in serious need of updating as very shabby. Had to run the cold tap for over 5 minutes to get any cold water to run out - presumably the hotel does not run on a water meter! A total waste of water.
I only agreed to answer 4 questions! The staircase handrail and breakfast The fire alarm at around midnight - no-one seemed to know what to do. The fire assembly point wasn't mentioned. It seemed to be assumed to be a false alarm even before the tampered box was discovered.
Good location for my needs. Good bathroom. Hotel very tired and in need of renovation which seems to be in progress. Bathroom very good and clean but the bedroom quite the opposite.
Noise in the room thoughout the night - background hum
Bedroom was well equipped and comfortable Certain staff not much into customer service (but one called Anna very good). Running very loud Friday night discos is not compatible with having guests who want to sleep!
It was a lovely room in a wonderful building. Very clean and full of character. No toilet paper, major problem. I had to go to the Lamb to use their toilet on Sunday morning.
Roomy, central, Saw no staff in the hotel! Person at restaurant showed us in, but we were unsure that this was a member of staff. Front door regularly left open, and felt vulnerable as hall was unattended and gave access to rooms so anyone from the street could enter unhindered.
Room had lots of character... lovely beams English lacking from staff
The beds were comfortable, the shower efficient and it was in a very good location (200 metres fron cathedral) No breakfast (although on b&b guides), no shower gel, minimal tea and coffee facilities
It advertised itself as B&B, but does not provide breakfast!
There is no breakfast but readily available on high street.
Tea/coffee making facilities provided. The place was clean. Staff were friendly. No breakfast included. Room was cold. Check in was at the restaurant underneath the guest house. Sunday morning no staff were available to ask for information.
central location. comfortable bed and warm room. could only access one channel on the tv. ensuite bathroom very cramped.quite expensive in comparison to other hotels stayed in.
It is very convenient, being 2 minutes walk away from the cathedral and the shops There were no bathroom facilities in the room, not even a washbasin.
This is not a hotel. It is beds, with no breakfast, right in the very centre of the beautiful Cathedral City of Ely, in Cambridgeshire. My niece's wedding was in St Mary's Church, and the Ely Guest House is on St Mary's Street, and also a stone's throw from The Lamb Hotel, where the reception took place. I had breakfast at this hotel!! I could not have chosen a handier place, given that I travelled by train, and therefore was on foot. Also, quite unplanned by me, my single room was changed for a double - plenty of room for my long legs!! This Is not a complaint. a small building in the centre fo an ancient Cathedral City, is itself going to be ancient. The Ely Guest House seemed to be of half-timber construction, with little narrow stairs. I am now older, and found this not very easy....
Decor lovely, friendly staff all you want for a relaxing weekend only thing was the weather and the hotel could'nt fix that.
The room was lovely, spacious and comfortable with a very nice bathroom. The overall decor was nice and modern. I would have liked it if as we were celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary (which I stated) they might have done something a bit special not necessary expensive (chocolates on the pillows, fruit basket that type of thing) The rooms could have been a little warmer as we went during winter.
visit different places croma hunstanton kings lynn
Helpful polite staff. Excellent food and good rooms.
The de luxe room was spacious and comfortable with all the luxury accroutiments that one associates with quality.
Very helpful staff, very comfortable room and an exellent breakfast. We will almost certainly stay again next year. nothing
where it was situated and the tranquillity
Smart and modern Expensive for a country hotel
Clean, smart, friendly, good value Should have two armchairs in a double room
personal service and helpfulness of the staff No
I enjoyed the room I was in, also the food was excellent and the actual staff in the bar made us feel very comfortable. All in all great weekend. I could not fault a thing
very relaxing and quiet...
the standard of the room was very high. the atmosphere in the bar was warm and welcoming. the breakfast was really good.
location, cleanliness, food and welcome atmosphere. Bathroom a little too hot
staff so friendly, so welcoming made you feel special, nothing was too much trouble, the room was magnificent, really everything was brilliant and we will be going again everything was wounderful!
Everything apart from comments below Difficult getting served in the bar which was also the point for ordering food. No reception meant checking in at the bar and not being able to check out early the next morning so we had to leave the keys in the room and 'phone later to pay with credit cards. We could have been told of this problem when we checked in , but weren't. Food and rooms were excellent.
Excellent all round servie None
Excellent food was 1st class !
Staff were friendly and helpful, room was very clean and comfortable None that I could say
Room very comfortable. Excellent value and food in the pub was superb.
Very nice room, but bath very small. Good location for discovering Ely. Breakfast service was slow (one poor school age girl on her own). Dinner was poor, web site advertises a lively new chef, his food was neither.
This is a terrible place. The service was disgraceful. The man in charge was rude, arrogant and only interested in taking money. After our terrible experience here I would recommend this place to be shut down. I would tell anyone and everyone to steer well clear. It is very over priced and the staff are useless - we couldn't even get directions to the hotel from the so called reception.
Location and service The room was very hot. We shut down the radiator but failed to note that an electric heater was on at full blast. When sleep became impossible during the night, we realised what was happening, and turned off the heater. It then took 40 minuteas for the room to cool.
Excellent Dinner & Breakfast Room clean and tidy but a little dated
Accessibility A bit of Fawlty Towers about the hotel
The staff were very helpful and friendly, and the food was excellent
Had to rearrange accomodation when Ely had no water supply. Thankfully was able to get a room at the Nyton. Room was cold. Sink was in the bedroom. Room was above bar, so quite noisy.
Staff were friendly and accommodating. We had dinner at the hotel which was good as was the selection for breakfast. For visiting Ely the location is excellent very easy walking distance. The hotel is certainly not AA**** as stated. The general appearance is looking tired and dated the pictures on the web site do not reflect the current state of the hotel. We booked a double bedded room and ended up with a twin but the staff could not really explain why especially as they had only a few guests staying. This hotel could be really good it's location and the quality of the food offered is good, however, the service especially from the owner/manager was a little 'Faulty Towers' on occasion. I would reccommend it to friends but with the proviso that you 'take it as you find it' - interesting!.
Location. Faded elegance, which some would find charming.
Reading my review I can not add any more None
From the minute I stepped through the door I was treated with friendliness and my every need was attended to. Room had the "wow" factor. Definitely would go back. To other guests - do not be put off by the small exterior - this is a tardis of a place ! Nothing to add here.
Excellent clean and spacious accomodation, with separate entrance and no noise from the pub/restaurant Excellent customer service Excellent carvary offerd N/A
Nothing was too much trouble, the owners went above and beyond and made it a real home from home. The food was great quality, the housekeeping fantastic and the atmosphere great.A real credit to Booking.com. Amazing value for money.
The hosts were very welcoming, and breakfast was good .room was warm and beds comfortable seperate rear entrance was very usefull went to some trouble to provide T.V. for room tea making facilities and fridge and toaster very usefull rooms were small and en suite even smaller ,the one we stayed in was at the back of the hotel and although quiet the passage leading to it looked a bit untidy and unsafe ..spare tables and chairs etc. no glasses/tumblers in en suite. not so much a hotel more a useful base for business etc.
Brilliant place and lovely staff made us feel at home. None.
Great food. Excellent room friendly staff Postcode given, directs you to an area 5 miles from the hotel, need to sort out the postcode.
Selflessly clean and tidy Staff very friendly and efficient Slightly confusing layout but they could only do what they could!! Would willingly stay there again
The room was spacious and very nice, spotless clean. The staff was very nice too. They already had finished serving food when we arrived so we went to the indian restaurant down the street and it turned out to be one of the best we've ever been, don't get fooled by the cheap look, it's awesome cuisine.
The hosts were very welcoming & helpful. Had 2 different types of rooms: 1 -family with large king size bed plus 1 single, 2nd unit - twin room with ensuite. Rooms individually decorated. Extremely comfortable and very clean. None
Staff friendly, food good, room nice and warm for arrival
Good location, rooms, facilities and attentive caring owners. A minor point - the guest information folder in the room could have provided more details about Swaffam eg street plan, history and facilities
The hosts were extremely friendly and welcoming. The room was very comfortable. It was a central but quiet location.
Lovely small hotel with good facilities
Private run, friendly En-suite a little in need of fresh decoration
Very comfy bed Bar area could do with a make over
Friendly welcome, real ale (2), secure storage for cycles, nice breakfast, quiet location
Medium size comfortable room. Bottled water plus tea coffee etc and sweets. Excellent shower and plenty of hot water. Wonderful cooked breakfast, fried bread and sausages were the best. Hosts very amiable and helpful. Very good selection of drinks at the bar. Close proximity to town with nice restaurants and public transport links to cities Couldn't fault the hotel in any way
The male owner was attentive. When he realised my husband had difficulty walking, he gave us a twin room on the first floor, rather than a double on the second floor. The sheets were not big enough. They came out and I had to tuck them in all the night. When I booked, I said that we were vegetarians. When we came down for breakfast, I asked for the vegetarian option, as all I could see on the general menu was eggs. The manageress said "That's the menu. You can have fish." When I told her that vegetarians do not eat fish, she said that was vegans. If someone offers a service, they should know what service they are offering, and everyone, these days, should know what vegetarians and vegans eat. She was obviously so upset at this, that we were ignored from then on. She eventually asked if we wanted more coffee. I was given half a cup, my husband a full one. It was so blatantly bad-mannered we will never go there again.
Friendliness of staff
The property looked old and interesting and the sort of quality we would normally try for The outside was miss leading the rooms were cramped, tired and more a bed and breakfast standard certainly not a good quality hotel. No way to wash my hair as no shower head in the bath! Had to use plastic cup.
Good location within the town, excellent interaction with staff. Bar food and breakfast very good Banging radiators during the night
Hi... the comfort of the sprung mattresses was excellent,,, soft pillows wonderful nights sleep was enjoyed by my partner and myself ,,, the food was very good , local produce was used.. the reception staff excellent,, nothing was any trouble in actual fact we asked for an alternative route home missing out the M25 the staff looked up aa route maps for us and found a very good route home we had no problems getting home ... thanks to the staff... would always recommend this Hotel... A++++++
The Table d'hote meals were very good and excellent value, Food generally (breakfast etc) was very good with a very nice restaurant, bar meals were also excellent value although the bar was a bit of a smokers fog. Staff at the hotel were extremely helpful and friendly.
The staff were very friendly and the nlocation is perfect for what we needed.
The food was of a good standard. It is dated and like many english country hotels
A feeling of quiet comfort and welcome of the best country town type of hotel. The room service meal was not up to standar, and I should have complained but we were tired.
the room was a good size, clean, none smoking, the breakfast was good apples in the reception wasw a nice touch. the room did not have a dvd player
Free Wifi availability No complaints.
Freindlyness and helpfulness of the staff A little tired. Bedrooms need updating. Public areas very clean
Quiet, comfortable, well-furnished room. Very good restaurant Very pleasant staff The delay in service at dinner one evening was unacceptably long. A wait of 10 minutes for a drink which had been ordered and 20 minutes for the main course, when the restaurant was at the most half full, was very disappointing since the other days had been fine.
the receptiong was the bar itself. staff exceptionally friendly and accommodating. the water heater was out, and they offered to find us another place to stay or we could stay at 1/5th the price of our original cost..we stayed!!! and the room was nicer than most of the rooms we had been staying in during the trip...we were very happy!!! read the reviews before chose to book re: noise and mess, but place was renovated..it was very quiet, came w/ ear plugs for those nights when they did have 'entertainment' in bar setting (weekends mostly)...our stay was juuuuust perfect. parking easy. meals were such that you had to go to the bar to order; no one came to you; and unless you knew this, you'd wait an awful long time wondering where the help was...but the food was great!!!
Excellent value for money. Service and food qiuality vety good.
Room was clean and tidy and acceptable for a stop over. The level of service was very poor in the bar during the evening, I ordered a meal from the bar at 8:45, and was told it was ok as the chef finished at 10:00pm, only to be informed when I queried where my meal was that they had misplaced the order, and it was now to late at 09:40pm, to prepare the food in time for the chef to finish. Not impressed. I also confirmed my breakfast reservation for 7:45,to be informed when I arrived at 7:45, they they were expecting me at 07:00, and had come in especially to get me breakfast. I explained to the lady concerend and she apologised for questioning me as to why I was later than she expected, and said it happend frequently.
comfortable bed very polite staff Bathroom door did not close which proved difficult when sharing with family member. Room overlooking main street very noisy with traffic, radiators not working only 1 small portable one in bedroom none in bathroom. late disco also very noisy
Very central and good selection of food available in the evening. Also the ability to park behind good. Beds were very comfortable Very steep stairs up to bedrooms - very worried walking down them.
The room was a good size and very clean, the breakfast was good and the staff were friendly. The double room had 2 single beds pushed together with a sheet over the top so you fell down the gap. It should have been a double bed in a double room! Also there was a DJ going on until 1:30am so we were told it could get very noisy, if I was tryign to get an ealy nigth or had children it would have been too loud. We were out during this time so avoided it.
The room was very well equiped for a budget price. The bathroom was very good and fresh.Heating was easily controlled. Coming down to breakfast on the sunday morning was certainly an experience I would not wish to have again. The space where we were told to sit was filthy from the night before no cleaning had taken place. The breakfast was reasonable but mostly cold. Not really a good experience.
The Service & The Friendley Staff No
Friendly staff. Friendly atmosphere. Comfy bed. Lovely big tea/coffee cups Need some drawers in the room. Corridors and stairs a little dated and uneven. Our room was quiet, but further down the corridor may have been noisy when the disco was downstairs.
The room was nice and the staff were friendly The pub has a DJ on Friday and saturday nights so it's very noisy.
Check-in and check-out were efficient. The room itself was clean. The spare blanket was in a protective plastic cover which was not aired, meaning the blanket had a stale smell. I know the hotel can't help it, but the cathedral near the hotel chimed every 15 minutes throughout the night. I suppose the hotel could have informed people of this in advance.
