type of room for the amount of money
Hnady for the motorway, clean and well presented.
Easy to reach from M1, good location for Wakefield. Very well appointed room and bathroom, very clean. Seemed short staffed at reception during early evening. Had to wait to check in.
No complaints at all None
the staff were extremely helpful
cleanliness & helpfullness of staff
We have stayed at this hotel before so we knew what to expect. As before the staff were very friendly and welcoming and the service excellent. The overall cleanliness of the hotel is very good and the meals, breakfast and dinner, were very good. Nothing is perfect but we had no complaints or dislikes.
Overall, were impressed by hotel facilities and staff,as well as standard of food Were unable to take lunch when we arrived at 12pm ,and were directed to a Sainsburys cafe one mile away by a staff member - not blaming girl at reception who was very pleasant and apologetic, but surely lunch at lunchtime,in a hotel is `par for the course?`
The room was very clean and comfortable, the staff were friendly and polite and I had a most enjoyable breakfast great poached eggs! I didn't enjoy the evening meal that I ordered expected fresh veg and not frozen.
the staff were friendly and welcoming and also the rooms were of a excellent standard i would definatelly stop there again.
Food in restaurant was not value for money
Comfortable accomodation Meal in main resteraunt considered very expensive for small portions served. I did not enjoy or finish the meal and personnally would have preferred some homecooking options such as steak pie etc..
the leisure facilities
The pool, spa and gym facilities were good. The function food was excellent and unusually for such gatherings it was served hot. Both receptionists were efficient and friendly. One of our group rang the hotel five times in the week leading up to our stay to book spa/beauty treatments but the phone was not answered. A booking lost I'm afraid
Hotel was ok overall, but evening meal was not particularly good considering the price also my cooked breakfast in the morning came swimming in fat.
nice pool and gym the bed was very squeaky, when i raised this with staff they just laughed...never been one for sharing my bed with sooty and sweep! Restaurant stuff were rude and ignorant, the fact that i was in jeans clearly meant that i wasn't good enough for their 'posh' restaurant. avoid at all costs...
Nothing in particular Place is dated
gym pool food was not up to standard
clean and comfy , good location , friendly
The attractive atmosphere linked with the helpfulness of the staff and reasonably priced 'extras' led me to feel I was in a more expensive hotel than I would normally choose for an overnight stay.
Great room overlooking the lake. Liesure and front of house staff were outstanding
Great hotel, fantastic room, pleasant staff, good value
The building itself is outstanding. Food, although expensive, is excellent. Bedrooms dated and in need of refurb
Great Surroundings ,quiet, nice warm pool ,Friendly staff ,great breakfast and food generally good Room a bit dated and old fashioned
the food was of poor quality
Everything was clean, staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Whle stay was lovely and would definately return. Nothing.
good food, great service none
Great leisure facilities, friendly staff, food was great and the rooms were beautiful.
The breakfast! Check in! And the smell of oil burning!!!!!!!
The total relaxation, the beautiful surroundings, the restauant was excellent and apart from the private hot tub not working on the first night everything was perfect.
The staff were excellent as was the quality of food. Unfortunately the weather was poor during our stay and the roure tot he hotel from the lodges was waterlogged.
Relaxing atmosphere and enjoyable pool and jacussi Poor service at breakfast opened jams at table not informed of breakfast routine
The bar / restaurant Cleanliness and heat of room!
It was a delight - in a great situation in the woods which made it easy for doggy walking. I and my dog were made to feel very welcome
The spa is great and the evening dining was nice. Lovely location. Room was shabby and in need of serious TLC.
Intimate, romantic, relaxing. Food was amazing as were the views and the room. No slippers in the room enquirer about them twice as they. Were on the booking. Only confirmed to me on checking out none available but got surcharge on room service escorted which made up for it. But a phone call or visit to the room with an update would have helped
The staff were unfailingly friendly and efficient. Also, the accommodation is very unusual -- my room was in a superbly built log cabin within the woods about two minutes walk from the main hotel building -- great facilities (free wireless Internet, swimming pool, gym) and sense of tranquility. The food is excellent too -- I ate in the bar and in the restaurant and both served reasonably meals of an unusually high standard.
The rooms were ok. Hotel is very dated, my shower did not work and breakfast did not start until 7.30 meaning that as I was travelling on business and had an early start I could not eat breakfast. They did offer some toast however.
fair prices in the bar jack johnson music all the time. petty i know but it get to you in the end
The staff made you feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble.
The location to my family who live in Wakefield, The very helpful staff, and the cooked breakfast!! The low level bed,and the shower not being a proper closed unit.
Friendly I did not like the fact that you woken up at 8.00am in the morning by a very loud bell which we thought was a fire alarm.
The quietness, the friendly but courtious staff, & the breakfasts .Can't coment on other meals as didn't have dinner.
The courtesy and helpfulness of staff. Availability of meals. Comfort of bedrooms. Warmth in cold weather.
The helpfulness of staff, particularly Rosie on reception who helped with all our queries including finding a postcode for the earlsheaton cemetry where my father's parents were burried and a soft broom for me to brush the snow off the car - she is a credit to the hotel. The toilet in our room had been used and not flushed before our arrival. The hotel restaurant was somewhat cold and impersonal although the food and service was fine.
Beautiful park within walking distance. Nice sunny bar area. The furniture in the bar area has been thick of dust on both my visits.
service limited menu.
Food was far better than expected. I am a somewhat jaded business traveller. Nothing
well appointed room, restaurant food was good and well priced
Fab location nice rooms
Value for money. Very clean and tidy room/bathroom.
Restaurant is very good. Hotel and restaurant staff are very friendly and helpful. Hotel is very close to the train station, a 5-minute walk to the town centre, shopping malls, market, local restaurant, and the bus station. Noise from adjoining room kept me awake most of the night which means that wall/sound insulation is non-existent. Hotel seems to be popular with the young people, which means a bit noisy and rowdy for a senior visitor like me.
Excellent location for town and bars. Room spacious clean and a good breakfast. Nice bar in hotel.
Clean and freshly decorated No drinking glasses, chair or shaver power point in room. Reakfast choice very limited
Clean, modern facilities; convenient location. I would expect more than a single coat hanger.
Near station. There is a good restaurant in the hotel. It is good to have a wheelchair accessible bathroom, but not fo normal people without mentioning in advance. It is difficult to use. E.G. small low level basin.
The location to wakefield city centre was excellent only a few minutes wlak to the shopping area. The hotel appeared recently refurbished and was immaculately clean. We got a great deal for half board, which was good value for having a 3 course dinner included. The dinner also offered a decent choice for vegetarians which we both are. Restaurant staff were pleasant and attentive. Breakfast was basic (Cereal and juices, tea / coffee) and didn't have a menu. We were asked if we would like anything else for breakfast but without a menu its difficult to specify without having to keep asking 'Do you have....?'. Free Wi-Fi is offered but no info in rooms or check-in card on the password, on our first night stay there was no staff at desk or on the phone to answer the question. However we were able to obtain the password the next morning. Housekeeping came to our room before 9am and we asked if they could come back a little later as we weren;t quite ready, unfortauntely they didn't come back.
Spotlessly clean and well appointed room 1 light bulb over bed missing
Really friendly and helpful staff. As it is a city centre hotel it was very noisy at night both inside and out. It might be better on weekdays but not good on Friday and Saturday nights.
The price was good. For the most part it was very quiet, even with a wedding party on the Saturday night. Close to where we wanted to be. There was one door, somewhere nearby, that boomed when it closed. This only happened on Friday morning, but it started at 0530. Scared us to bits. Thankfully it didn't get used again after 0730 on the Friday, or for the rest of the weekend. The hotel staff told us it was a fire door. Ok... Do something about it.
Reasonable value for the accommodation. There was a lack of service at breakfast. Sadly self service is the norm these days but it still needs some support from staff otherwise it turns into school dinners. Although not used the television was of a low quality.
Abel to order room service, which I needed after a long journey up to Wakefield
Very friendly and the breakfast was excelent The bed was to soft you ended up in the middle which made it uncomfortable. The car park was like a skating rink
The staff were efficient and friendly. The breakfast was well presented, hot and tasty. At about 3 am there was a loud humming noise that carried on until about 9 am, this did keep us awake, also the room was on the cold side and it was only in the morning when we opened the curtains that we found the radiators would have been better with out the noise and if we knew where the heating was.
The first room I had been given had not been cleaned in anyway, not a good thing to arrive at after a long journey
Very clean, modern hotel with good links to the m1
the hotel did not have my reservation and even though i provided a copy of the email confirmation from booking.com they did not have anything on the system. We had to leave a credit card detail as they were stating we had not paid even though this is incorrect. We were very disappointed with booking.
Bed and pillow offer good + web connectivity
It had everything I needed in one room, speciality teas were readily available and extra essentiala were free if needed Price of alcohol. I would have spent more if prices were fair.
The hospitality of the owner and staff Nothing
The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The room was clean and comfortable.
Friendly staff and clean room. No sandwiches available despite being advertised. Cramped dining room. Bar not open on the evenings despite being told otherwise.
Quite quiet and easy axcess
We liked the location and the relaxed welcoming atmosphere of Stanley View Guest House. Staff were also very helpful with advice about local cultural attractions and events which we would not have known about otherwise.
The staff were really fiendly, and the room was large, spotless and extremely good value. The breakfast was huge, and as much as anyone could want. Service was top notch. Will defintely stay here again if we are in the area.
The attitude/approach of the staff.
Convenient,quiet & good value
friendly cheerful staff. Easy access to town
The welcome at reception was very pleasing and also during dinner. I was very disappointed that the 'buffet' was not included with the choice of main course - should be taken off the menu as this was misleading. Unfortunately we were allocated a room next to the generators which were quite audible during the night.
Using the gym free of charge
Well maintained, everything worked properly, especially the bath and shower. Very quiet, good night's sleep. Nothing.
Wi-Fi connection, relaxed atmoshere.
nice breakfast and friendly staff very peaceful
Breakfast was very nice and bed was comfortable only one socket in rooms and i ordered chicken goujons one evening and they were frozen in the middle had to give them back no appology was given or refund ..also they ran out of budweiser beer during our stay, and on the sun night there was boy racers outside for a few hours racing no police were called they were very noisy my mum couldn't sleep till after 11 she was in bed at 8 she was not well
Excellent value for money. Very friendly staff. Restaurant only had a few options available and was poor.
the duputy managers Timothy and Stpehanie were just so friendly, organised and made my stay very relaxing. the rest of the staff were all friendly and is it ovious that they enjoy working there.
The room we had was quiet
free pass for greens gym
I was made to feel very welcome from the moment I arrived. It was so nice to be shown to my room which was very tastefully furnished and comfortable. Standard of food and choice was very impressive - excellent service from arrival to departure.
Good Breakfast Room was advertised as a double, but with access to only one side of the bed this was not suitable for double occupancy and was cramped for unpacking etc.
The staff were very friendly and helpful the hotel itself was very clean and smart in all aspects. The best three star we have stayed in .
The location was very good, the standard of equipment within the room was very good. Black hairs in the bath and on the floor in the bathroom, the noisy extractor fan from the kitchen, the very poor quality of the breakfast, which was pointed out to the receptionist, but i have never heard from any one regarding an explaination or appolgy.
The food is superb and the atmosphere in the hotel is relaxing. All the staff are very friendly and helpful We would have preferred brighter lighting in the room - with only one reading light and very low room lights two of us couldn't read at the same time
Very good quality of food both for dinner and for breakfast Nothing
Staff freindly but unantrusive, resturant very good,on the whole a realy nice experience. Nothing raely.
The breakfast was excellent and the staff very friendly The en-suite bathroom was a little shabby
Breakfast was lovely and staff were friendly Room was a bit hot and bathroom needs updating
Friendliness of the staff. Also more than enough staff to cope. Standard of food. Conveniantly located for what I needed. Bar area too noisy to be able to have a quiet chat.
very friendly staff, convenient location-easy to find , directly off motorway but very peaceful and excellent nights rest. no
Clean room, very pleasant and informative receptionist, location useful in relation to business purposes
The helpfullness of the staff.
easy check in, clean, good location
The old style building and the woodland setting The shower was very mouldy. The bed was old and lumpy
Lovely position and could be a lovely hotel We had stayed here 2 years ago and understood from the web site that it had been refurbished but it hadn't. Everything was clean but the rooms were shabby
A pleasant location Lack of dining facilities (Despite menus in room and signs outside advertising the restaurant) and milk for making drinks in room almost two months out of date.
Nothing Very basic and dated room carpets dirty and stained. Cigerette burns on bedspread. Ensuite old, mouldy and unclean.
The staff member who booked us in, and who also seemed to do everything else, was very friendly & helpful. It's a lovely building but the interior is in need of a refurb. We actually have stayed there before a few years ago, and the rooms are looking 'worn' & 'drab' which is a shame as it used to be a nice hotel.
excellent breakfast Not really
Price My stay was not very good, you could here every noise from the room next door. was very off putting.
staff was extremely helpful.Pleasant surrounding and very peaceful. Good value for the money. Abit shabby, could do with updating. The walk in shower that we had requested was very small and had a very large step up, which are daughter who we were travelling with who has mobility problems then couldn't use. that was a bit disappointing.
was a nice place, the first member of staff we met was helpful and arrived with a smile, was a nice building in a good location but could do with updating again could do with updating as rooms were a little dingy, everything worked in the room but on checking out other guests were complaining. the staff that checked me out seemed to only be interested in finishing the transaction and getting you out the door, a smile would have been nice. also wasn't to happy that there was only one towel and no hair drier.
