Leaving the hotel Blood stained sheet, poo on the bathroom wall, mould thick in the bathroom, rudeness of staff, location was misleading
Just used it for sleeping. The hotel was fine. Staff was very friendly
Helpful staff, close to mororway and good directions on the hotel web site!
Very riendly staff and good, comfortable, quiet rooms. We recommend.
Very central. Rom was a good size. Nothing
Location Food was poor compared with previous years - new chef?
We enjoyed our night at this hotel, staff were very friendly and helpful. Resturant very good. Note that not all facilities ie. bistro and bar are open all year.
On site parking - on site restaurant - convenient for stop-over en route back to UK - quiet room with no traffic noise - pleasant town. Slightly run down - especially bedroom. Short of staff (though it must be said that they were always polite, worked very hard and tried thier best to keep up) Plastic flowers on the dining room tables.
Reception did not open until 730
lovely location in a pretty town, kind staff, professional
The location and the staff The bed was old, lumpy and very uncofrtable.
It has a swimming pool which could be nice in hot weather Bathroom could have been cleaner, service in restaurant was poor. No comfortable chairs in bedroom.
The restaurant is very good. The rooms are somewhat dated.
Nice, modern, comfortable and well-located hotel. Good breakfast. The shower-bath was quite dangerous, being too high, narrow and with no grab-rail.
We liked the central location and also the easy accessibility to the cycling routes around Blois. We found the duplex room arrangement useful and spacious.
Great location, secure parking and a high standard throughtour the hotel. Breakfast was great but dinner a little disappointing in execution rather than menu choice. No complaints at all apart from the dinner which could have been better produced given the raw materials available
Good location near the centre of town (400 metres). Comfortable room which was clean and practical. Free minio bar is a great idea. Dinner was good - but the menu was a little limited. Room service breakfast was good value for money. Onsite parking was very convenient. The hotel was good value for the cost. Diasspointed at no porter assistance with baggage - but the provision of trolleys and easy access to the garage compensated a little. We had a problem with the bar fridge in one of the rooms (it did not work).
Convenient location and handy for touring the Loire Valley and its chateaux. Within a short walking distance of the town centre. No. As a constructive suggestion, a hand rail in the bath would be useful!
spa zone is really nice after a tiring day
Great position, very helpful staff, room and breakfast very good. Doesn't look great from the outside!
Hotel is located within easy walking distance of the historic old town, the Blois chateau, and many restaurants. The air-conditioned room was appreciated because it was quite hot while we were in Blois. Parking is available at the hotel for 7 Euro per day (about $10). This was a more convenient choice for us than public parking in the river-side parking lot across the street, which usually looked full from the hotel all the toward the old town. Note that breakfast at the hotel costs 14 Euro per person (about $20).
This is a cheap and cheerful hotel suitable for heavy sleepers that do not mind paper thin walls. The showers are suitable for a female size zero - but plenty of hot water
Close to centre of Blois
friendly staff room smelt musty
Relatively well located, not far from the center of Blois. The hotel was okay, even though the surroundings were not particulairly romantic. Supertiny bathroom (a plastic cube put in the room), the bed was not very comfortable. The elderly Monsieur at the reception at night was not very sympa. All in all, considering other deals in Blois and other hotels we stayed in while travelling in France, I regretted having booked that one.
The owners are extremely friendly and helpful.
The location was great with easy access to the Metro & train stations & there were some wonderful pattisseries close by.
excellent position, close to station and chateau in Blois. Helpful staff, good breakfast.
Lovely people, excellent breakfast. Central location. Would come again. Small room, very small bathroom-shower. Would be difficult to stay here for many days, due to small room and limited storage space, but for short stays it is an excellent value.
it was in the loire valley close to the chateaus and had a family room that slept four at a good price. the landlady's english was better than my french and we made do.
This is not a renovated hotel and the beds are not that confortable....
Nice friendly staff - gift for small children on arrival. Relaxed setting. Pool table and Xbox for older children - Excellent. Pool was not as big and the photos had made it look - small and cold
Hotel Staff was very helpful and friendness. The room was very clean and includes good bathroom (WC was separated) with big tab. Nothing.
a bit old fashioned. Needs some refurnishing.
The hotel was very conveniently situated. A very enjoyable visit.
It had nice rooms and the food was good.
Staff was friendly Bathroom smelled horrible. Bad ventilation.
Friendly welcome, excellent cuisine, beautiful garden, swimming pool and quiet setting No
Very friendly and helpful staff and management, excellent food, comfortable rooms and charming atmosphere.
we have stayed there before and like it very much it is a great shame that they have closed there restaurant
excellent staff and very helpfull.
I expected a 4 star hotel, but la Tonnellerie cannot be classified as such. Maximum a 3 star, and even then the bathroom needs a thorough renovation. The quality of the food in the restaurant was absolutely not up to standard. Hardly any choice on the menu card, and the prices were far too steep for food that was pre-cooked, without any imagination. Fortunately we ate the rest of our journey in far better restaurants and for much lower prices.
Very pretty, individual and interesting, with lots of character. The staff were excellent, very friendly and helpful, also the owner. The food was excellent and the courtyard garden was a lovely sunny spot to have a drink/snack. Just a pity the weather wasn't good enough for the pool to be open. Only one thing - our room had an unpleasant smell of stale smoke, although the room our children stayed in was fine.
staff are very helpful and along with the style of the hotel provides a unique ambience for a stay. We were very disappointed with the cost of food drink and wine etc Some years ago we had an excellent stay at the hotel and enjoyed an excellent table d'hote menu. Having stayed at some excellent hotels in the Sawday's guide on our 10 day trip around France the Hotel now we feel is not providing as good value as it once was. We spoke to fellow guests who felt the same, consequently we dined away from the hotel after our first night on all inclusive menus of 30 - 40 euros of excellent quality and with good wines from 18 euros upwards.
Great quiet setting, and outstanding interest by staff Had to go outside for dinner
Professional staff, friendly, welcoming and accommadating. Especially appreciated the straight forward carte menu. Would go again. Although comfortable the bathroom could be updated.
Like the garden and the hotel staffs were great, very helpful and friendly. No fridge in the room, the street from the main road is not easily recognizable.
The room and bathroom was very clean and modern. The air conditioning system was unable to adequately cool the room.
Good size room and kept very clean. Good choice at breakfast and easy walking distance from centre. Rather gloomy and very long corridor to rooms! Building from outside very stark and on "business" road.
I liked the cleanliness of my room and the friendliness of the hotel staff. I did not like the shower head. The water came out too weak, which took too long to finish a shower, and not a friendly user in adjusting the water temperature.
The hotel room was very comfortable and the desk staff was very helpful. The breakfast was exceptionally good. Nothing.
Rooms are clean and comfortable but location is not great if you expect to be centrally located (10 minute walk to downtown - many stairs) I was very unhappy at the check-out. We did the check-out at 6:00am and they had charged us for the breakfast that only opened at 6:30. This was done automatically, which I think is unacceptable. The answer from the clerk was that guess must advised that they are leaving early. I did not think it was obligatory to eat breakfast and guess should not be charged automatically. In addition, we had advised the front desk. I thought that was a poor response. In addition, he was not able to credit us right away as he did not know how. We were in a hurry as we needed to get to the airport so we will need to see our credit bill to see if we received the credit.
Very nice. Room is big compared to hotel room in Paris. I like it a lot. Will return to stay in this hotel if I ever come back to Blois.
good, clean accommodation.staff very helpful.excellant parking.fairly easy access to town etc.
the confort of the room, the parking facilities and the bathroom, very nice and clean. very good for the price.
The rooms were newly decorated. The rooms were so recently done that there was a very strong smell of paint. but we got a new room no problem.
Limited parking space. No internet point in the hotel.Maid storemed in our room at 9am on Sunday
We found Apart city Blois very convenient to railway. It was aduquate for our needs, nearby a good supermarket. The staff were very helpful . Apartments are small but good value for the price From a cooking point of view an oven would have given more options
The flexibility, able to cook if wanted to. Clean and comfortable too. The beds were a little on the uncomfortable side and the curtains were very thin and this let in light all nikght long. Forced purchase of eye masks
When you compare this with Mr. Bed or Premiere class, who both cost around € 39-42, it is a great deal. There is more room. There is the Kitchenette with a fridge! And a coffee machine!! Even if we don't want to cook, these 2 things were important. We paid €45 but they asked us €2 a day for wifi :-( € 2 a day for Wifi
the lack of internet facilities, phone booth( international calls cards are handy), tourist information;the absence of a receptionist when we arrived one hour ( 5p.m.)before the check-in period was due (6 p.m.)on sunday, when everything in town is closed and had to guess how to get in: by chance we had a phone card with which we called from the train station the number in the reservation confirmation; we also had to seek assistance from a floor neighbour for hot water, which was swicthed off
Near the centre of Blois The rooms were acceptable but a little bleak because the ceilings were very high and there was an echo. Fine for a short visit but probably not for a long term stay
This was a good base to explore Blois and surrounds. We only used the kitchenette for preparing cereal breakfast and tea and coffee but could have prepared a simple meal if we had needed too. Beds were clean and comfortable. The room felt a bit austere with an almost 1960's feel to the decore but it had everythink we needed. The free wifi was extremely slow and had to log in for almost every new page. The long dark corridor to our room was frankly spooky and the occassional loud traffic noise from the street were also minor detractions from this pleasant budget stay.
-close to the train station -close to the centre of town -quiet street -room furnishing a bit old -beds uncomfortable -doesn't feel super clean
Friendly reception staff. Location close to city centre In-room kitchen Standard rooms were very very small. We were lucky to have a larger room available.
well situated near the center + parking in the street the smell of oriental cooking in the corridor
The price and the proximity to the Loire à Vélo (we were biking from Blois to Angers) and the train station. Our room was not very clean and rather small; the bed was terrible (something your body does not appreciate much after pedaling the whole day), the breakfast was very expensive (9 Euros, when the standard in the valley is 7)
Very friendly and helpful owners and staff! Just down the street from the Chateau and parking nearby. Loved the ambiance of this historic building! Tea set in room. Lovely dining room. Does have small elevator. If you like modern and sleek and cookie-cutter, this hotel is not for you. It has modern conveniences in a typical, restored historic building.
The owners were great. Any questions or concerns you had, they were always there, happy to help. The breakfasts were awesome as well served in a beautiful room The wireless connection was very weak in our room on the 4th floor and so I had to go to the lobby to go on the internet.
The location of the hotel is excellent. Overlooking both the Cathedral and the Chateau. Just few minutes walk to the centre of Blios. The owners - Annie & Jacky Barilleau are very nice and helpful. The breakfast @ Eur 7 pp was more for convinience. Better breakfast available right across from the hotel.
Great location, helpful staff No tea or coffee making facilities in the room. Very thin walls, could hear any movement made in other rooms.
Everyone at the front desk was very helpful and friendly. They gave great advice about restaurants and parking, and helped with driving directions on the day we checked out. The hotel has a great location very close to the chateau and within easy walking distance of shopping and restaurants. Not a luxury hotel but very clean and comfortable. Great value for the price.
Great location and very helpful staff. Good value for money. Rooms quite old and in need of renovation, breakfast simple and not really good value.
Excellent location No parking, although there was a reduction on the (cheap) 24 hour rate at the main Chateau parking - which was very busy
The owners were absolutely wonderful. They helped us with recommendations for restaurants and travel arrangements. They were very accomodating in every way. We would love to go back. The slippery bathtub, which I fell in and pulled out of the wall.
Superb atmosphere created by renovated old building Room 2 - en suite was cramped and open to the bedroom.
Cheap and ok hotel. Toilet bowl is not good.
Hotel in a historic environment, in the hart of the Loire region A hotel with a lot of potentiel that can be a very charming hotel. At this moment it needs a freshing up ( especially the outside : garden, painting, main entrance,...). Once inside it is ok although the bathroom is also rather old. Personnaly I did not have any problem, but the reception staff only knows the french language.
Nicley situated on the River Loire, lovely medieval feel to the area
Old interesting place Beds are a bit soggy
Very nice old world appeal-we took photo's of the distintive hallway and staircase.
Location in the town of Beaugency, great for an evening walk. Hotel was unusual which the children liked. Rooms could do with refurbishment. Rooms setting could be a little spooky for younger children.
Very unusual, very interesting experience. It has a different kid of charm and character that you don't find in normal hotel, even compared to another Chateau.
The incredible sense of history of the place as a former abbey, our room was large and beautifully decorated with antiques. It felt like we were staying in a museum. There was no elevator and the stairs were very worn down. Of course they were the original stairs and had been used over the centuries but they were also dangerous in spots. This issue could be delat with by installing a small elevator just to get the baggage up and down and a sign asking guests to watch their step.
Wonderful hotel. Just stunning. Beautiful rooms. Lovely atmosphere. Lovely staff. Two beautiful lounge rooms and a bar. The breakfast room was beautiful. I took photos of every room! Breakfast (inclues champagne!) was well worth the price. Lovely fresh breads and cheeses. They also served hot food. The hike up the grand staircase with luggage was a small price to pay. Would definitely stay here again.
Fantastic hotel in great setting. Rooms are beautiful. You could just imagine monks living there at one time. The staff were awful. Miserable and unhelpful. Did not listen to any complaints.
The abbaye itself is beautiful and the ambience is very nice; it has an interesting history. The staff is indifferent. The breakfast is overpriced, but it is very difficult to find anything else in the neighborhood.
Our room was very comfortable and clean. The owner was very friendly and helpful with suggestions for places to visit and recommendations for places to eat. It was a great base to explore the many chateaux of the region. A very enjoyable few days stay. We would certainly return if we were in this region again.
The room was really nice and the people very friendly. We were advised to go to a restaurant in the village only to find it was closed every Monday which was the day we were there. Having said that we would happily return if in the area.
We had a gorgeous room in this B&B and the couple who owned it were fantastic - very helpful and genuinely nice people.
I liked the price and the location. The bathroom carrelage was really dirty, I told them about it then I thought they would clean it next day. They did not.Rooms were a litle too hot,no fans or air conditioning.
Our room was on the ground floor and the only way to get fresh air was to open a door to the car park, which left us feeling vulnerable. A noisy coach party arrived at 11:30 pm which woke us up.
We have stayed at several Campaniles over the years, and have generaly been happy with it, we enjoy the restaurants, but think the room need some improvment.
The hotel was good value for money. I wouldn't want to stay for any great length of time but it was good for an overnight stop.
Far from gorgeous but well facilitated for family with small children. Friendly staffs. Casual restaurant. Easy free parking. No elevator. No mini bar (but a vending machine near lobby).
Clean, wooden floors, good food deals for children. Helpful staff and a place to store bicycles
Good for one night stay on the way to final destination. Quiet environment. Close to highway. Friendly and helpful staff Old facilities, need some improvement, especially the bathroom. No air conditioning. A bit far from the city center of Blois.
Reasonable price, clean, Long way from Blois, no other restaurants in the area without driving
The setting was ok Bedrooms were only basic. Needed a lot of upgrades. Hotel was quite old. Not value for mone.
Very good location, if you travel by car.
great food for fair price at * rated michelin restauranr maybe only room 2, but combined heat/cooling system makes (even shut down) enoying noices. confort not in relation to excellence of rating of restaurant
Very nice people. A bit difficult speaking English, but enough to get by. The hotel was very modern, and one of the nicest we stayed in during our trip!
Friendliness of staff no
Location - near Chambord; Quietness of the hotel. Excellent breakfast.
Very good standard of accomodation, great atmosphere and excellent restaurant.
We loved this hotel, clean, modern, friendly. Near chambord so not around the hotel but it was quiet and really nice.
Surprisingly chic inside the hotel. Outside it looked pretty ordinary and uninspiring. We didn't eat in the hotel but this is the major attraction. Good location for the Chateau at Chambord and Blois. Would return if we are ever in that location again.
Excellent staff, great resturant, good breakfast
The hotel is excellent, the staff is friendly, the rooms are very nice and the food is fantastic
staff welcoming..rooms light and clean...location good for what we wanted We enjoyed our stay but found the lack of tea making facilities in rooms not good for us. The food was lovely but too much and too late for us. There was no access to English news....everything in French...the access to internet poor in the rooms. Not complaints observations.
