Dollar ar rental
Pros: The Express check out was extremely easy; the car was clean and in good condition.
Cons: Dollar did not honor its advertised AAA benefit of having another AAA driver added for free and when I told them I did not want the extra driver if there was a cost, Dollar was unable to remove the charge.

Pros: The service we received when picking up the vehicle was fantastic.
Cons: The agent servicing our return was rude and dismissive and dragged her feet. It was one of the worst customer service experiences with a car rental ever.

Fees and Additional Hours
Pros: The staff took care of me from airport pickup until dropoff at the end of my trip.
Cons: My $34 rental through Kayak became $96 when I upgraded one class and pre-paid fuel. For a 27 hour rental, many of the fees--to include the upgrade cost--was charged for 2 days due to my need to have the car for three hours more than a day (my inbound flight had a noon pickup and my outbound flight had a 3pm dropoff). That is a foul and I will not rent from Dollar again for quite some time. Also, the car had 40K miles on it and was quick-turned and not as clean as I expected. I was rushed and unable to play musical cars looking for a cleaner ride.

Pros: The car was an old Hyundai that worked just fine and was clean. Pick up and drop off was quick and easy.
Cons: I originally booked rhe rental for 4 days but my plans changed and when I called the change the reservation they charged me an extra $70 dollars for reserving the car for only 3 days instead of 4. Not sure why the price would change.

Pros: Friendly and efficient staff at the desk.
Cons: Shuttle pick up was slow. Every car rental shuttle came by at least 3 times before Dollar came. Had to call them.

Pros: The people were among the most helpful and friendly of any car rental agency, from the shuttle drivers to the counter staff to the return agent.

Pros: Pricing and convenient location. The staff was fiendly and did not attempt to upsell additional coverages.
Cons: Vehicles were early 2015 models. Need to upgrade their fleet.

Bad experience ever - will never use Kayak & Dolla
Cons: I'm a frequent travel, meaning being on road almost 75% and using rental cars, flights 3 out 4 weeks in a month. Never had to deal with such business manners or behaviors! KAYAK: - Search Engine is not working probably and proposing you a full-size car - which is not true - Not willing to listen or even trying to solve the issue nor their end - It's a clear technical issue on KAYAK's end DOLLAR: - Receiving a compact car, even booked a full-size - Toll road collection handling fee is 90$ - ridiculous

Cons: When I arrived, suddenly I was smacked with a "transfer fee" of $164 since my pickup and dropoff weren't the same, and after asking to add one more day, my rental price went up $420. I walked out and walked over to Alamo right next store and got a much better deal and much better customer service.

Pros: Ease of pickup and drop off. Friendliness of shuttle driver, even despite being only driver that night. Allowing me to swap with no questions or issue.
Cons: The reason why I swapped my car was the strong odor of pot that was still present in the car. I ignored it in the beginning and tried to let it air out before I mAde my trip. I popped open the trunk and it was even worse. Knowing that I'd be crossing state lines I wasn't about to take that chance, or get charged with a cleaning fee for something I didn't even do. I understand the places cannot control what people do in a car, but they can control if that car is ready to be rented out. And that original car I had was embarrassing.

The worst car I have ever rented!
Pros: The location
Cons: Cigarette smell was overwhelming I had to buy air freshener. Seats have stains and over all it seemed as if this was someone's personal car! I will not rent a car from dollar again!

Pros: Car doesn't break down on road.
Cons: I went to pick up the car at 10pm and the staff seemed to be very perfunctory. All she wanted is getting this business done as quickly as possible. She has no interests introducing insurances to me. She told me the fuel is full but actually it is only half full. She doesn't inspect the car until I pointed out many scratchs on the car. This is the worst service I have ever get. And I spent more than 45 dollars base rate just getting a small Yaris. The car is not clean as well. Very Disappointed.

Pros: The car was good. The person that was there when we brought the car back was very helpful and helped us handle the toll pass issue.
Cons: They needed more personnel at the check in. Seemed to be disorganized, with many people complaining. I wish they would have told us about the need for a toll pass and the $15 penalty fee if you didn't have it. Again, part of the problem was that they seemed overwhelmed at check in.

Pros: Weekend rate was tremendous value, $16/day. Customer service was consistently good from shuttle drivers, counter service and requested walkaround of the car. Hyundai Elantra performed well with terrific gas mileage.

BAIT & SWITCH
Cons: I picked a car on web site by picture of a convertible type & similar . Went to DOLLAR who said they did not even have convertibles . Said they didn't have Chrysler 200 or similar. They wanted to give us a Chevrolet NO! That's NOT what I ordered from you. Ended up they went to Hertz for one. NOT A CONVERTIBLE TOTAL BAIT & SWITCH

Pros: The car was super clean, and drop-off was really easy..
Cons: Pick-up was a NIGHTMARE. Only had 2 ladies working the counter at an airport site. Waited in line almost 45mins to be helped. Got stuck behind 2 customers that literally had over 20 questions. The check-in kiosks were not very helpful...they were not working. I feel like the amount I paid for this rental in the end was more than what I was expecting. For that amount, I can probably use a more well-known rental company, and avoid less stress. Will most likely try a different company next time..

Promised vehicle not available
Pros: Our customer service agent was polite and apologetic.
Cons: We rented a pickup truck and when we arrived, were told that no pickup trucks were available. No discount offered for alternative vehicle. We left and booked elsewhere.

Bus driver made very offensive and derogatory raci
Cons: My two sons and I were the only passengers in the pick up bus on or around 9:20 - 9:40 pm on Saturday August 27th, 2016. We had 4 large bags and 2 hand carry bags and my sons loaded the first 3 large bags themselves with no assistance from the bus driver. After my younger son loaded the last big bag in the bus the driver asked him to move aside and he moved our 3rd bag and then threw the fourth bag next to the third bag. So my older son was not too happy with the new bag being thrown carelessly - so my son made a hand gesture - with both the palms of hands open and kind of saying why did you throw the bag. However my son did not say anything. We were all tired coming from NJ after attending a 2-day wedding event. While in the bus - I asked the driver casually if it had rained in Raleigh. The driver did not seem to understand what I said or may not have been able to hear me clearly. But he gave some jumbled answer which I could not relate to based on my question. So I decided not have any further conversation for the rest of the bus drive. As we were getting down near the dollar counter he asked me where we were from and I said Boston. Right after we got down the bus - he asked my sons what they were doing in Raleigh and they said that they were studying in local college. After that he asked them what degrees they were pursuing and my sons stated what they were doing and then the driver said good for you. After that he started making very offensive, inappropriate, and derogatory comments to me - you are not from Boston - but from India - then looking at the boys he said hopefully you learn from America and become better than your parents - you should know that I need to be tipped. He asked a couple other personal things and continued making offensive and flaming comments. Like I mentioned earlier I was in Raleigh to drop off my sons for college. I was not in the mood for spending any more time at the dollar rental place that late in the night to take care of the problem right there and then. I proceeded with my rental and left the place without even inquiring about the name of the driver as Jose (the dollar rental counter associate) would then have asked me other questions as to why I was inquiring about the driver's name, etc. However on my return trip on Monday August 9th afternoon I came in very early to talk to this bus driver and I had allotted more than 2 hours of extra time to file a police complaint and talk to the local and executive management at Dollar rental. To my disappointment I was informed that the bus driver was not on duty and also his identity needed to be officially confirmed before they could do anything. I have reported this incident to the RDU airport police. I need more space to outline what I expect from Dollar rental. I also want to find out how I go about filing a Federal complaint against this employee. I need his identity confirmed by Dollar at the earliest so I can proceed with my actions. Thank you.

Pros: The agent switched me from a 5 day rental to a weekly rate because it saved me money. Additionally Dollar did not add an extra charge because I was dropping the car at another airport 500 miles away. Dollar saved me $450 compared to what Hertz was charging me. Car was in excellent condition.

Cons: Just that the service Rep didn't put my drop off time at 12 am as requested 3 times during the transaction. She still had 11 pm down. Perfect otherwise!

Pros: The price
Cons: The wait time at check in was very long. The car was dirty and scratched up. The remote key fob needed a new battery. The station tried to overcharge me by $110! If I hadn't insisted on my final receipt, I would have left for the terminal and found a surprise $153 charge on my card for a $43 rental. I still do not know if the erroneous charge was voided. I had to speak to a manager to get a receipt showing the proper charge amount, of $43. I now have two receipts. One for $153 and one for $43. Hopefully the first one was voided.

Horrible customer service
Pros: The car was clean.
Cons: We waited nearly an hour to pick up our car. Only two agents were working, and the line was so long it went out the door. Frustration was so great that people starting screaming at each other. Horrible.

Didn't have the car I reserved
Cons: I reserved a truck, when I got to the rental place the man behind the counter said they don't have trucks and never have had them. I asked why the said they had them on the website and he said it wasn't his problem. He offered me a Chevrolet Equinox and I said that wouldn't be large enough he said " if you're not going to take the equinox then I can't help you so you need to leave." I left and called Dollar cust service, and all they said I could do is file a formal complaint on their website. Luckily National was next door and they were able to get me set up with a truck and helped out with the price of a last minute booking.

Cons: Showed up at 11pm ,after long day of traveling, to find out they had no vehicles at all. I am 6'10" and reserved a large pickup truck. After about 60 minutes they gave me a time car that I barely fit in. Better than nothing but not ideal.

Ran out of cars
Pros: Nothing... It was terrible. They ran out of cars and made us walk around the rent a car area looking for available cars with their competitors.
Cons: Poor service, extra slow bus, and had literally 0 cars when we showed up. Didn't offer to help us rebook either.
