9.7 Excellent (144 reviews)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent hosts, breakfasts and clean facilities. Extremely helpful to us in finding places to eat and visit. Overall, the hosts made us welcome with their warmth yet efficiency in managing our stay.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Immaculately presented chambre d'hote. Warm, generous and engaging hosts. Quiet location, a short ride from Vezelay. No restaurants within walking distance but Anne-Marie offers a short menu of salads and drinks if you prefer to eat in. Comfortable bed, great shower, tasteful decor, windows armed with insect netting so you can have them open. Spectacular breakfast - we have never seen such a spread! Secure storage available for bikes.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Absolutely amazing owners. The comfort of the guests is top priority and every detail is taken care of, from the little pegs to hang your towels in the bathroom to the comfy double bed and insect nets in the windows. You feel like on holidays at your favourite aunt. Breakfast was rich, and the service perfect, anything you wanted you got - local cheese, eggs boiled perfectly, sausages, cakes... anything you can think of really. Everything was clean and new, well and lovingly maintained. Rooms are fairly large, as well as the bathrooms. The owners are very nice people who will take care of you like of one of their family. If we ever travell to Burgundy again, this is the one place we will stay.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: We had a fantastic stay with Luc and AnneMarie. Everything was perfect. Here's what we liked: a perfectly restored old farmhouse in peaceful surroundings, beautifully designed modern rooms with lots of little touches, very comfortable bed, pillows etc, spotlessly clean, large bathroom with fantastic rainshower, useful hooks in both the bedroom and bathroom, wonderful breakfast including homemade bread, cakes, juice, hams, cheese, croissants, jams etc, and last but by no means least: very helpful and welcoming hosts who called vineyards for us, recommended restaurants and sent us on our way with extra croissants both days
Cons: We really couldn't find anything that could have been better about our stay
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything! The facilities were excellent.
Cons: Nothing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Anne Marie & Luc were wonderful hosts. Their beautiful B&B is so charming and comfortable, and they were so helpful! They went out of their way to make my stay wonderful, including guiding me to their place by phone after hours, providing gluten free bread, and a picnic breakfast on my last morning when I needed to get an early start on my travels.
Cons: Can’t think of a thing!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice place, I absolutely recommended it! All is decorated with an exquisite taste, the breakfast is simply fantastic and the owners are very friendly!

The owners are super nice, a 100% available and the breakfast is the best one we;ve ever had in a bed and breakfast. We are very grateful that we found such an amazing place and we highly recommend it.

The accommodation is very quiet yet perfectly located in the centre of Vezelay. Really felt at home!

9.5 Excellent
Pros: This is a lovely place to stay, with a nice communal / kitchen area and an attractive courtyard where you can sit and enjoy a drink or meal. The menu du jour was excellent, and reasonably priced. The owners were very friendly and looked after me really well. Breakfast was spot-on.
Cons: Some satnavs (mine included) get the location wrong. If you find yourself near the station, you're in the wrong part of town. Les Coutas is on the fork in the road at the south end of the village. Look for the blue gates next to a shop front. The room was a little basic, but it was a good size and perfectly comfortable.
10.0 Excellent

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hosts at this Chambre d,hotes were charming and provided us with an excellent evening meal at relatively short notice ( 8 Hours or so ) and the breakfast was also very good. We were cycling the canal and the building is within sight of the canal which to me is always a bonus. We intend to do this trip again with other friends and will stay here again.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location - along the Voie Verte of the Canal de Nivernais - part of the cycle tour of Burgundy is excellent, only about 50 m off the cycle path and very near the small convenience store. The common area has a very well equipped kitchen for guests to prepare their own meals - all sparkling clean. The owners will soon have a restaurant opened in the adjoining building and we believe this will be a useful addition. Our room was spacious, clean and the bed was comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and exploring the area on our bikes.
Cons: ? Nothing.
10.0 Excellent

Pros: Pasqual was an excellent host-although no beer and the breakfast -from an ex cook was superb .
Cons: The attic room , although newish , was difficult to access and not comfortable for a couple of active pensioners . We considered the 9.4 rating unbelievable and the offer overpriced by 33% . Distance from motorway was also a problem .

Cons: I liked it.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very comfortable. Good location at the top of the village. Parking a short distance away.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great hotel in a great town. The host was very welcoming. It was great to get parking advice ahead of the visit, especially in a town where you are not sure if you should go up a street or not. Restaurant in the hotel was just perfect. The food was fantastic. The bathroom was modern and spacious. Bed super comfy.
Cons: Not any space in the room to put a case. But I expected this.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great location as long as you don’t mind hills-but why would you go to Vézelay if you didn’t? Dinner was very good, breakfast was OK only. Friendly staff.
Cons: Room 3 was nice, but if you open one window you get smells and sounds from kitchen. If you open the other window you get the odours from smokers in the beer garden below. It didn’t really concern us, but might drive some crazy. Avoid room 3 and you’re probably OK.
10.0 Excellent

Pros: lovely house; quiet and super breakfast.
Cons: Nothing
9.5 Excellent
Pros: This place is literally in the middle of nowhere in rural France, in a village of 33 residents, so it is an absolute oasis. The owners are lovely and very helpful, speak good English too as I have almost no French. Great breakfast, comfortable bed, modern room in a 17th century barn conversion. All good, nothing bad at all to say.
Cons: Nothing.
8.3 Excellent

SY Hôtel les Glycines - Vezelay - Building
8
9.1 Excellent (712 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at SY Hôtel les Glycines in Vezelay, you'll be just steps from Eternity's Hill and Vezelay Abbey. The front desk is staffed during limited hours.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful old building but with very modern comfortable rooms. Peaceful
Cons: Nothing We stayed on the hottest day on record so air con would have been good but probably not necessary most of the time.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: 2/3rds the way up Vezelay's one long major street, the hotel is ideally located in one of the most perfect of French villages. The room was large, well-appointed, clean, with a large comfortable queen-size bed, and had a good-sized bathroom with a good shower. The breakfast, though priced separately, was a great value for money event. The staff was solicitous and helped even before our arrival and throughout our three-night stay. Our room, number 104, had a nice view over the front courtyard and its wisteria vines, past the facing storefronts, to the fields below the hilltop upon which Vezelay is perched. And the hotel had an elevator to ou floor.
Cons: Two minor improvements would help the bathroom: hooks on the wall or door to hang clothes or towels and, since there is only one sink, more shelving for women to spread out their toiletries. And finally, a warning that the foldout sofa bed might work for children, but my adult daughter had to pull the mattress onto the floor to avoid the rigid middle-of-the bed framework. Obviously, this last problem only arose with our having three adults in the room and would not impact a couple. My wife and I would love to return to this hotel and this village.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Stylish contemporary well equipped
Cons: No parking means access difficult
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Stylish room, fab restaurant, spot on location.
Cons: On the top floor very hot unless noisy air con cranked up to max
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Stylish hotel in great location
Cons: Nothing
8.8 Excellent
Pros: This is a gorgeous property in a perfect location. Our room was lovely and clean with a beautiful view of the cathedral.
Cons: We had a family room for 4 people. This meant that the kids were on the pull out couch. This would have been fine but the couch was super old and the mattress was a trough into which both kids kept sliding. So our 10 year old son slept on the brick floor. With just a sheet. Not a big deal but could have been better.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Location & restaurant
Cons: Very warm, shower not functional, breakfast not very good and overpriced
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful building, great location
Cons: Challenge to locate the best parking spot
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This quirky but charming hotel is situated at the top of the hill in Vezelay and has variety of rooms each with a different character. No bar means the lovely courtyard at the front of the hotel remains very quite as guests seek refreshment elsewhere. Breakfast was good with some very strong coffee.
Cons: The ability to have a drink would have been nice but not enough to put me of visiting again.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great place

Pros: The setting for this home was delightful. Lee was a very welcoming host and excellent cook. We had a lovely time here and would definitely recommend.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Lovely scenery and very kind owner. Nice french breakfast. Excellent beds we slept very well! Delicious home made jams for breakfast. Magic sky full of stars at night !! Nice modern but still traditional facilities
Cons: Not much. It is a bit far from where we needed to go... We didn't take enough time to check exact location before booking. There are a lot of insects in the garden and in the swimming pool area - normal because it's in the middle of the nature, but to be considered for who is scared of insects like me :P
9.5 Excellent
Pros: We were served a spontaneous dinner
6.8 Good
Pros: Located in a quiet rural setting. Host provided very enjoyable dinners (pre-booked) including fresh local produce on two of our four-nights stay, and helpfully booked good restaurants in Clamecy for the other two nights.
Cons: Main negative was that the owner and others in the household were smokers and to us as non-smoking guests, the rooms, bedding and towels were noticeably contaminated with stale tobacco smoke odour. Establishment appeared to be a little in decline. Owner seemed a bit preoccupied at the time with personal matters and catering to friends and family rather than guests.
7.0 Good
Pros: The house was very nice, and bedroom large & comfortable with all amenities. It was peaceful & quiet in the middle of the country. Host was very pleasant. We had an excellent meal cooked by hostess, with other guests. Very good value. A nearby auberge was suggested for meal which was also excellent in Druyes les belles fontaines.
Cons: Location was rather remote & difficult to find.

Cons: Nothing, everything was absolutely perfect.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: A beautiful property. The location and drive to Chablis is stunning through back roads
Cons: Said it had a wellness center, sound proof rooms and presumably a hot jacuzzi... but didn’t. Staff did everything to help though.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Fabulous chateau complete with moat dating from the 12th century, set amongst quaint villages and countryside. It was a real pleasure and privilege to stay here. The gardens are beautifully kept and there is a feel of how the various owners over the centuries would have lived. The staff were enthusiastic and attentive.
Cons: Meals and drinks are a little costly but acceptably so considering the offerings the chateau has.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was very good, as was dinner. Our room was comfortable and large with a good sized bathroom. The staff were helpful and friendly. The location of the hotel is lovely as are the grounds.
Cons: A small 'niggle' is that in our room there wasn't an electric socket close to a mirror. This often happens in hotels and is very annoying for women wishing to use straighteners or other electric devices to style hair etc!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Character, Charm , great welcome , professional staff .Peaceful location.
Cons: Nothing very much ...but perhaps our bedroom was a touch tired....pink bathroom a little bit dated .
9.5 Excellent
Pros: It is a special place...beautiful grounds, gorgeous indoor pool, lovely dining room!
Cons: How I wish the staff had given us a mini tour of the hotel when we arrived.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful place, staff friendly but reserved. Room was over the top luxurious. Wish we could have stayed a month. Didn’t get to try the restaurant.
Cons: Nothing really.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful property in a beautiful location. Really nice staff. The food was excellent. Only criticism would be the price for everything is very high
7.0 Good
Pros: Very elegant Chateau
8.3 Excellent
Pros: A lovely location with generous sized rooms
Cons: Breakfast and laundry are extremely expensive

9.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful active farm. This property takes you back 200 years. Our hostess was great, Guilaine speaks great English and is very helpful. All of the breakfast food was fresh made, the bread, rolls, croissants, yogurt, jams, honey and even the eggs were fresh that day, from their own chickens. This property is remote so those looking to walk places should not choose it. But if you like quiet and solitude, this is the right place. The stars are so bright at night. The periodic flyovers by the French air force are neat too, But loud.
Cons: Mattress was a bit hard.

Cons: Nothing
6.8 Good
Pros: Warm hospitality of hosts.
Cons: Unexpected extra heating charge not in pre-paid total of Booking.com. Felt cheated by this. Amount not large, but the principle is that all charges should be explained clearly and in advance.

Pros: The hosts were wonderful. We got a puncture. They went beyond what was expected to help us sort it out.
Cons: Nothing
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Our host and hostess where very pleasant and welcomed us warmly, freely chatting with us and making us feel at home. Rooms were comfortable and being Americans, we loved the English speaking TV that was provided. The internet service was as good as we required as well....I'd stay here again and recommend it to family that wanted an escape to rural Burgundy! Thank you so much for having us....:-)
Cons: We had no issues..........:-) (A country omelette would have been a nice touch!!)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: From the moment we arrived (late), Martin went out of his way to make us feel at home! He hoisted a South African flag, took time to show our children his newly hatched chicks and even produced a cream that healed our boy’s swollen foot from an insect bite a few days earlier. Dinner reservations, directions, comfy beds and a wonderful breakfast were all a part of this lovely experience! Martin and Ann’s B&B is simply lovely and immaculately clean - it will be our usual stopover for years to come! Thank you to our wonderful hosts.
Cons: N/a

Pros: very authentic super friendly and extremely responsive hosts Thank you very much !!! :)
7.5 Good
Pros: Friendly owner, serving a good meal for a fair price. A nice place to stay and make jokes.
Cons: Size of the room
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Lynne was very welcoming. The garden around the property was rustic and relaxing. The small plunge pool was ideal for cooling down on hot days. Breakfast was served with a smile at whatever time you requested.
Cons: The addition of a small fridge in the room would be a benefit.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very quiet and tranquil countryside location. Owner speaks both French and English. Homemade breakfast (5€/person) and dinner (10€/person) offered for very reasonable cost. Very good value for money and unique country experience.
Cons: Nothing.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The old house is really lovely. Stone (interior) walls, stained glass. Lynn is a perfect host. It was the first time we booked a "chambre d'hôtes" but with the experience we had at "Le Bonheur", it will certainly not be the last time. Very good bed, quiet location with a parking place in the garden. The excellent food, proofing in every way that the host likes to cook.
Cons: There were some issues with the internet but the host tried everything to get it fixed. If you arrive in daylight you can look for the "Booking.Com" sign but even today we are still puzzled about the creative numbering of houses over different streets in that village (even our GPS did not get that). But follow the instructions of Lynn, its a small village and go for the "Villaine" part of it, not the Breugnon part of the village.

Pros: I booked quite late but the lady was willing to make me dinner, though she had not count on that. But she had a good and fast way to prepare me a tasty 3-ways dinner with some glasses of wine. Talking with her at her apartment was a relieve because I could speak English.
Cons: Actually nothing in particular. Maybe the privacy is not optimal because the property was kind of part of her property, so you hear each other. For a longer period maybe not as free as I want.

Pros: only when we called to announce a late arrival did we realise that this was a B&B-place without restaurant. However, as we were cycling and it was late, the residental owners spontaneously offered to prepare some meal for us, which turned out as very nice home-cooking, and much better than we would have expected under those circumstances.
Cons: mistakingly we thought that we could access the site from the forest footpath, but this turned out to be wrong. In fact, not only is there no descending path from the forest, but there is also a river in between. Our mistake, not to be blamed on the guesthouse! Note that breakfast is served around a large communal table in a historic room, so no privatge tables for 2 or 4; not necessarily a problem, though, more a matter of preference.

Pros: Louis-Marie and Béatrice were the perfect hosts. They provided us with a perfect lunch on arrival and we felt part of the family. They also proposed a lovely restaurant in Accolay and personally provided transport. The Abbaye is in the perfect rural setting. Highly recommended.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The hosts were so welcoming, the property is stunning! As you drive up to the Abbaye it really is the WOW factor. The owners were kind enough to drive us to a nearby restaurant for dinner and the chef of the restaurant brought us home! Breakfast in the gardens overlooking the beautiful view was perfect (eggs from the owners own chickens), more than you could eat! I would definately reccomend a stay at the Abbaye de Reigny-true french living!
Cons: The room was very hot-but it is the middle of summer, so what do you expect!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The owners were very lovely and happy to share their lovely abbey. The breakfast was superb - a very French offering with cooked eggs too. The breakfast room is a lovely room in itself. Upstairs the library was wonderful and the sitting area to read was special. Merci Beatrice - vous êtes dans mon coeur en Australie!

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Really nice location and pleasant surprise: unexpected charming village
Cons: Despite being hotel guest, no availability ( or effort made to accommodate us ) in the beautiful restaurant
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Apparently the management takes the comments to heart. Last time we were here, i commented that the room we stayed in was worn out, the beds and mattresses were worn out too, the shower was broken and there was only one socket in the entire room. As we had the exact same room this time, we were impressed to see that our comments had been read and had been acted upon. The mattresses have been exchanged, the shower is fixed, and there were two more sockets available. The restaurant is still phenomenal, in quality as well as prices. For this kind of quality I am however willing to pay the rather steep prices. I guess that is why we keep coming back.
Cons: I actually couldn't say what could or should have been better. Of course the prices are on the high side, but this time it was worth it.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Staff was extremely helpful.
Cons: Air conditioner was very noisy.

Pros: A little dated but comfortable hotel.Good sized room.
Cons: Restaurant shut on Monday nights. Also menu was quite limited.

Pros: Perfect stay! When you think of a beautiful french hotel then this is it. Very friendly staff, very good breakfast and dinner!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I have stayed here before, so knew what to expect. The restaurant is outstanding, and the staff are very welcoming, professional, and helpful. The breakfast is standard. The rooms are not cramped like so many hotels in a similar price range.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was a buffet. We were able to eat on the terrace in front of the hotel. Breakfast was mostly what you would expect but their were no hot trays. Personally I was not disappointed because usually they consist of soggy bacon and overcooked eggs. There was a poached egg machine so you could cook your own. There was a lovey selection of yummy ham, cheese, cakes, pastries cereal etc. The coffee was an nespresso machine that made better coffer than is often provided at other hotels. Our room had a balcony which was very nice facing the square. the bed was comfortable. There was a large shower that worked well but the door fitted poorly, but this was not a problem. Dinner was very 'michelin'! If you are a big eater you might want a pizza afterwards but it was excellent. There are cheaper places to eat. The staff were very friendly. The dog is not allowed in the restaurant which would have been a big problem if the weather prevented us eating on the terrace. Vezelay is a small town but busy with visitors. The road up to the abbey has many interesting arty shops. The abbey itself is undergoing renovation on its exterior so you cannot see the interesting bits. While we were there they were having a sung mass. The sound is mesmerising and intense. We will be visiting again.
Cons: We spent more money on the meal than we intended. I agreed to the reservation on line without seeing the menu. We spent 90Euro on the basic meal. If you are into very well prepared interesting food its great. If you are on a budget go somewhere else. Make sure you tell then you have dog when you reserve your room.

Pros: Our stay couldn’t have been better. The hotel was perfect in every way, the staff were so helpful, the food exceptional, and amenities first class. All up a real gem!
Cons: There was nothing to dislike
5.8 Okay
Pros: The staff took great care of my wife's food intolerances even for breakfast.
Cons: The room was spacious and well furnished but with no picture at all on the walls, and the small window looking straight into the hotel restaurant less than 2 meters away was uninviting : we didn't expect a view of the basilica but no view of the countryside around either was a bit depressing.
6.3 Good
Pros: Good location
Cons: A little run down. Restaurant was very pricey for the set menu but not so bad for the a la carte although this is not clear from the menu where it appears the other way around. Set menu had very small portions. Service was very poor and was not allowed to table 30 minutes early despite being free. Then had to wait another 30 minutes to order!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Location is great. At foot of hill that goes up to the basilica.
