excellent breakfast This was my second time at Palmenwald. The first time, although I requested a twin room with single beds, I got a double bed and a room with a picture window into the bathroom - nice for a couple, but not for two middle-aged travelling companions! The second time I requested a double room for a couple, but got a room with two single beds. When we asked for a change of room, we were told that there were no double beds - that was the "Bulgarian" style and we should push the beds together, even though the bedheads and bedside tables would then be out of position. Clearly this was not true anyhow, because I had previously had the opposite problem!
It was a nice experience to stay in a new refurnished hotel with a lot of cozy facilities. I hope to come back soon to this hotel.
Very nice restaurant, good breakfast
Nice classic hotel with friendly staff. Nice restaurant and convenient Spa and swimmingpool Nothing to report
Breakfast was great, rooms very comfortable, restaurant food also great. Good range of facilities and friendly staff.
Very clean and friendly, excellent for children the location was not so central
Swimmingpool was great and the sauna! And the restaurant had good kids menu.
Spacious facilities and excellent spa facilities. Very clean and relaxing infinity indoor pool with relaxing music. Sunny drinks terrace and ample breakfast. 15mins easy walk from the town centre but meant we could park the car outside the hotel. We visited at low season so the restaurant lacked a little atmosphere
Good location, free public transport in the region, sauna facilities, excellent kitchen, very kind and professional staff.
Very good range of facilities available. Choice of breakfast or breakfast/dinner as part of stay. Family friendly - baby cot (real cot, not a travel cot), diaper pail all available.
Friendly personnel Internet did not work in rooms and on central computer in lobby. Not very near to city centre.
the spa area no
Our apartment was a little bit isolated, what was just great!
High Quality, Spacious Family Apartments, Nice Swimmingpool, free internet PC, free PS2, free midgetgolf & games Kitchen & Restaurant was reasonable
Best hotel where I have ever been :) Smiling hotel like my daughter told.
the setting of the hotel within the mountains and the breathtaking views from every corner .breakfast was great and generally the mix of peacefullness and hiking the mountains is excellent dinner takes too long and the food was not great.they got our booking wrong (put us in the old building rather than the new and didnt go out of their way to make ammends)
Very nice place extremely attentive staff if a bit stiff ambiance heady clientele. Best for local and national government administration elite.
Extremely nice and friendly hotel, good balance of style full and relax atmosphere. NO
The attention to detail and the welcoming nature of the staff was very evident. As a top class hotel it is to be expected but the nature was not overly formal and you felt very comfortable. They could not do enough to help. The food was of a very high standard, the Michelin 3 start French Restaurant apparently had a 6 month waiting list, unless cancellations. However, the main restaurant was excellent. The breakfast choice was exemplary! Just a nice place to be and as relaxing or as busy as you would want it to be. They have a 'morning paper' of the day's events and there is always plenty arranged. When we were there, tempertures rose to 35 degrees and the hotel corridors and rooms could feel a little warm as there was no air conditioning, but that was only our opinion. Menu was available in english, but the morning newspaper was in german, but there were staff to speak to re. events/excusions etc.
Perfect location to spend a few days in the Black Forest. Nice hotel with rooms overlooking the forest and a little lake, swimming pool and sauna to relax after exercise. Hotel sttaff very friendly. Good restaurant. Nothing to declare, although not fit for people expecting a brand new hotel. It's a charming old hotel, run by charming people, located in a charming place.
really a great location at a sea, comfortable, cosy and clean room. Rich and tasty breakfast no functioning internet access, eventhough it was advertised to be one
fantastic location, staff, food, SPA, coffee hut 500 metres up the hill. The beds completely destroyed all the benefits of the SPA and massage
it had a nice big outdoor swimmingpool next door. (not part of the hotel) have seen friendlier staff, room was not always cleaned properly. Hotel was very much aimed at older people, not quite the place for a family to go.
Everything was beautiful, all details (colours, form, materials) were cared for. We couldn't get a wellness cd to listen music on our room, because they were gone.
Fabulous food, charming, and better than expected.
I liked everything about this hotel, ass soon as I checked in I relaxed more than I have ever relaxed before, the facilities are excellent and far beyond clean, I would reccomend this hotel which is in the heart of the black forest.
We were looking for a weekend escape and certainly found it at this idylllic hotel. The grounds were exquisitely maintained and perfectly located. The staff was fun, welcoming and helpful. The food was divine: lots of fresh, locally grown produce and imaginative dishes. And the pampering opportunities were endless: saunas, salt water soaks, massages, beauty treatments. The big kids loved the hiking trails and adjacent swimmbad, and the little one loved the swans and ducks in the lake, as well as the small indoor pool. Not really....maybe a coffee pot in the room??
Nice environment by the lake. So the lake view room is the most important conidtion. Even though we booked early still there was no room with lake view allocated. As we requested, they put us to a very small room with an indirect view of the lake. Feels like international travellers are not their priority.
My husband and I were in the Black Forest area for business and stayed at Hotel Landhaus Waldesruh for two nights. The hotel is family run and small which makes it even better. The room was quite spacious and very clean. The breakfast was also excellent with quite a lot of choices for a small family run hotel. Not to mention that the staff (family) and the other guests were very friendly and helpful.
Locaion, near some nice walks, and not too far from the main town, which is worth visiting.
nothing rooms were tired and in need of updating.area was very drab and quiet.food was terrible
Breakfast was bountiful and tasty. The surrounding countryside was picturesque. The bathroom was spacious and the shower worked well The parking was not adequate
Excellent location, good breakfasts, motorcycle friendly, staff tried very hard Swimming pool was very cold, making it unuseble. Chef/patron was a bit misrable.
Very well maintained
Extremely helpful, food fantastic, very clean large rooms. Well positioned hotel to explore The Black Forest. Nothing !!!!!
A very pleasant traditional Black Forest hotel. With a lot of snow around, the views from our room were super. My wife unfortunately forgot her new necklace, but when I phoned hotel that evening from far away they had rescued the necklace from our room and offered to post it home to uk. Fantastic honesty and service. The access road and ramp down to garage was tricky due to some snow. I would never have found the hotel without my gps. Brilliant tool.
Great receptionist and manager-extreemly helpful, polite and made my stay that extra special/personal. Room was a very decent size with balcony and very comfotable beds. The breakfast and evening meals were excellent. No laundry service
the staff was polite & helpfull, the restaurant - very good. we liked the breakfast meal and also the dinners.the swimming pool is nice unsatisfied toilette filling. we stayed 3 days at the hotel &* got only 1 small soap. no adding used materials - the basket remained empty after using the stuff.
Peaceful location, having a room overlooking the forest and stream was lovely.
nice and quiet location in the middle of the forest, good restaurant and very original nicely decorated spa. Very friendly staff. Saturday night loud music of a in-house party till 23.30 and Sunday morning at 9 the hotel staff was throwing empty bottles in the glass-container, so not as quiet as one would hope for.
Very well situated - nice staff - nice clean rooms - nice restaurant
The staff were very friendly and the room and food in the Hotel was excellent. The location for riding our bikes straight onto forest tracks was great and afterwards we relaxed in the hotels infinity swimming pool and had the sauna all to ourselves.
The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. The room was huge as was the bathroom. Breakfast was plenty and was optional 'healthy' with all kinds of seeds, nuts and grains. The first appearance. It seemed un-renovated. But I suppose the first impression reflects the general age of the visitors, which seemed to be quite high. But all facilities turned out to be very much up to date and comfortable.
Just perfect hotel, the best in our trip
Lovely hotel in a beautiful location. Excellent friendly staff that went out of their way to make you feel at home without being over attentive. Excellent food served in a very cosy dining room. Minor point, but the balcony area was a little tired and scruffy when compared to the bedroom.
The food was very good as were the pool and spa. The hotel still has some rooms which have not been renovated; avoid these. The renovated rooms are good.
Excellent, polite, efficent staff. Beautiful location? Imaginative food. Simply a very friendly Hotel.
Nice clean and very quiet hotel, staff very friendly. Not really an ideal hotel for business unless you want a quiet night within your mobile phone because there was no reception. However internet access was free in the lobby.
peace and quiteness and its isolated location the chlorine smeel from the pool in my room
Friendliness of staff. Location. Excellent estaurant
The staff was excellent and the rooms were very clean. The hotel is close to many restaurants and shops. IThe hotel is located along a very busy street. It did not look as if the hotel has many rooms that are not located next the the street. We stayed in August and had to open the windows. The road noise was significant and went until very late into the night and started up again very early in the morning. So, if you plan to visit during the summer and cannot get a room away from the street, then I would recommend looking for a quieter location.
A very well run hotel.Excellent breakfast.Typical German hotel that has been in same family ownership for years The evening meal was expensive meaning we ate elsewhere
The restaurant is top class for a very fair price Disabled persons should be warned that there is no elevator. Price for stay should be 15% less
The owner was impressive; her enthusiasm and pleasant demeanor was such a plus. We also had dinner at the restaurant. What a lovely surprise...fine dining in this charming little town! Absolutely no complaints. All around, just a pleasant surprise in this unassuming little hotel.
Friendly staff and owners created a good atmosphere for exploring this wonderful area of Germany. Excellent breakfast and very clean well appointed room.
Convenient to the town square and train station. Very nice breakfast. Very homey and comfortable.
Hotel staff was very friendly and spoke English; breakfast was included in room rate and was very nice (fried eggs on request); centrally located for stores and restaurants Hotel restaurant is very expensive, so ended up eating at a very nice brewery in town; room is small, but still could accomodate a family of four comfortably
Good location at city center. Nice restaurant.
This was our first hotel after our trans-Atlantic flight and we slept like logs. The beds were very comfortable.
clean, well appointed room, good new compact bathroom, free parking out front of hotel on main road hotel locked on arrival ,unable to check in until 5.30pm, located on busy road, traffic noise in room did quieten down late in evening
Super hotel for this price. Fantastic views from our large room with balcony, excellent breakfast included, very low price for an excellent evening meal at the hotel, very helpful staff, very clean, very comfortable beds. Highly recommended on all possible aspects. A few lessons English or French for the staff wouldn't go astray ... but now I'm nitpicking.
i had a great time. the room i stayed in had spectacular views. overall a very pleasant experience.
Location Menu's + room information would be better if there were English translation available
Very friendly staff Room could use redecorating
The Swimmingpool, the nice restaurant, the environment, nice reception There was no soap in the bathroom.
Friendly staff - good food - indoor swimming pool and sauna was fun
The Hotel was excellent with frioendly staff, good food and comfortable rooms. The swimming pool and aromatherapy/sauna were good too.
A quaint hotel with local charm if a bit Idiosyncratic decor. Worth seeing past this to the charm of an authentic German countryside hotel. The food was excellent and Torsten was a star.
High standard of facilities Relatively expensive considering the rural location
for the price of a 2 star hotel, we got a 4 star hotel instead. there is no nearby train station, only applicable if you drive
I liked being able to come and go; using front door code. I loved the breakfast. The staff were very helpful and friendly. I would have expected a bar or at least a coffee machine. 10pm is a bit early for shut down! Maybe tea/coffee/mini bar in room?
the kindness of the staff (family hotel) - the swimmingpool
