Most staff spoke some English. Lovely terrace and pool. Good breakfast. We stayed in a luxury room in the castle bit (which was very small for a castle) and although the bathroom was large there was no shower - just a bath with hose attachment but nowhere to attach it to the wall. Room had very high ceilings which made it a bit cold looking - not very cosy. The waiting staff were almost too attentive - felt like they were watching you all the time. The gourmet food was not to my liking - black olive sorbet and pigeon legs just didn't do it for me. The bread and butter was very nice though.....
firendly and relaxed
Great looking place, pool and tennis open to Orangerie residents. None.
At the end of our holliday our stay was was a surprise for my wife the perfect French experience and a lovely memory to take home with us We were treated so well by the staff in the resteraunt and made to feel very special thank you everything was perfect
ambience, decor and food made for a memorable stay
the staff were very helpful Advertised was the use of the internet and I had to go behind the reception to use it as there was none available anywhere. Also we were told that breakfast had finished and we had to ask before recieving any, it was only 8:30.
Nice & quiet location, staff were very friendly, setting was lovely. Although the food was very, very good, it was expensive in comparison to the room rates.
The outdoor pool was excellent and the Châteaux was a very interesting and looked very dramatic. The position was good, near to Perigueux town centre The room (no. 6) was a budget room and lacked facilities, there were no 'Chateaux' features in the room. The carpets were dirty, wallpaper was hanging off, there was no fixed shower, there was no tea/coffee making facilities and the breakfast was a poor buffet .
Helpful reception staff Nice room 12pm Check out! no tea or coffee making facilities (but that's expected in France!)
Beautiful chateau and grounds. Toilet seat in our room needs replaced badly. Reservation was quoted at 85 Euros, but they charged 98 Euros. Continental breakfast on their flyer in the room was supposed to be 8 Euros and they charged 14 Euros each. We never noticed until after the checkout.
the Chateau was refurbished to a very high standard and the furnishings were beautiful. The owners were lovely people. The food was from the local region and a very high quality. Because the owners cared so much about their furnishings, they would not allow drinks in rooms, breakfast in the room, irons and many other standard things that make a stay more comfortable. To that extent, they did not deliver great customer service. I went to recuperate after an operation but no effort was made to make it easy to relax.
The ambience, the attentiveness of the owners, the setting and the unspoilt nature of the business.
Room clean and tidy, dinner was excellent and overall hotel was v good value. Parts of hotel are clearly well worn.
Charming, idyllic setting - perfect for relaxation. Both the adult and children's pools were very clean. Very quiet at night and well worth paying a little extra for the large terrace overlooking the lake. The €20 dinner is superb (I had an excellent crevettes, canard and creme brulee to die for at this price), opting for a lakeside table rather than the well-appointed dining room. French customers have left similarly good comments about the food on French websites. Will definitely return - already planning the next visit. I would have liked the lake to be floodlit at night, to appreciate the scene from the terrace.
The rooms are well adapted for handicapped people. The reception by telephone when enquiring about arriving late was really appreciated.
It was a very clean room, well set up for handicapped people, very comfortable bed, we are travelling by bike and they stored our bikes for us overnight. Basic but good breakfast. Quiet rooms. Excellent value for money. No restaurants close by - was 4 k to ride for a meal which is not a problem if travelling by car
breakfast is very poor; no salted meal, no ham or cheese or paté in such a country like montpon monesterol it a pity. quantity of sweet meal is just suffcient for a wife! parking, signage correct.
facility was new and clean no air ventilation in the bath/shower room.
Simple, basic room, very clean and ideal for what was required.
peaceful location, hotel layout, beds
Clean room, adequate facilites, just short of somewhere to sit out and relax. perhaps a garden and seating area a bit sparce and breakfast could have had better service.
Restaurant excellent, beautiful location
The dinner was well prepared and presented and was of a very good quality. We were extremely disappointed with our room. Even though it was a standard room it was extremely small with little space to move around. It did not live up to the photographs on the website.
Hotel restaurant good value for money with excellent service. All staff extremely helpful and friendly. Booked large Room - very clean but basic. Minimal toiletries - no shower caps - no creams - no hair dryer in rooms. Poor quality towels. Hotel location is isolated - Taxi service very expensive. Outdoor pool and tennis court areas in need of some renovation/maintenance
Beautiful location, friendly & helpful staff, very good meals Swimming pool not heated, no room service, rather plain room decoration and furnishings
The peace and quiet, the efficiency of the staff, the gorgeous location
Beautiful old buildings and setting, very helpful staff. Horse riding, swimming and cycling available. Although the food was good, it was not of the excellent standard I would have expected for the prices charged.
To be treated in a polite and first class manner, with exceptional dinning at a magnificent setting in a quiet and relaxed atmosphere .
The location is superb, beautiful and so quiet in the middle of the countryside - and yet within driving distance of tourist sites for a day out. All the staff are helpful and friendly. This is a typical French hotel in this price range with no pretensions whatsoever. We felt welcomed and at home right from the start. The food was unimaginative and very variable from excellent (la salade gourmande) to dreadful (do not try the one and only vegetarian main course) and the day's selections were only available on the expensive menus. Children are other pets are welcomed and, as always, some are better behaved than others........ For the elderly there are too many stairs.
we had booked for 7 nights, when we arrived the building looked lovely, but when we saw our rooms we were shocked, they were exstemely basic and very small. I had booked a superior double room and this was very poor and was a twin. I also booked a double room, this was also very poor and a twin. The manager offered us another room the next day but it was in another part of the building to far away from our children. The manager was no help at all. We only stayed 1 night and it cost me £600 for the 1 night as they charged a cancelation fee. I will never go back to this hotel and would not reccommend it. Such a shame as the setting of the building is lovely, but the rooms are rubbish.
We used the restaurant and found the food and service to be excellent. Local specialities - well cooked. Wi fi in rooms was always on and great connection. The swiming pool was small but adequate. Only the rock in the car park which redesigned the door sill of our hire car. It was out of line with the circle and lying down at a lower level having been knocked over! Beware.
Good restaurant. Bathroom, although a good size, very dated with broken handles. Swimming pool did not appeal with all the shingles surrounding it, and not seats/loungers. Could be rectified easily.
the food was excellent! YES!!! the room was not at all a room as you would expect! I told the people there it was like a " servants room in bad conditions!"It was dark, very DUSTY, a very small window, towel storage etc....
lovely food, very helpful staff, good room and swimming pool a welcome extra
