The bedrooms were very clean and comfortable. Layout of grounds, beaches and pools were good. Food acceptable The bar was understaffed. We were at a table with all inclusive people, the barman came to check that we were not being given drinks by people who were all inclusive, I felt very insulted by this. Waiters cleared away our table before we had returned from the buffet with our main course, evening meal.
There many things that deserve to be mentioned. First, the ideal location, not far from the city of Rethymnon, has its merits (peace and quiet) coupled with night life opportunities in the nearby places. Next, the friendly attitude of the staff (restaurant) has created a positive atmosphere of feeling at home. Then the menu for both breakfast and dinner can be mentioned, which indeed was rich and generous. Finally, the enormous swimming pools (4 in total) and the variety of activities (sport and other) as well as the spacious and really beautiful gardens made our holiday vacations, quite an experience. The bureaucratic attitude of the hotel manager. He was quite inflexible and inelastic towards our demand for a change to a room with a sea view.
This hotel is really a good base if you plan to visit Crete in 4 days, like we did. The farthest you could go are the Samarian Gorges, 2 hours away, for some hiking. But you can also get to Chania in 50 minutes, or Rethymno in 15, and these cities are worth a visit! One of the nicest in Greece. Heraklio is only an hour away, though the only thing to see there is the archeological site of Knossos. The hotel is part of an all-included chain with a good reputation. This is reflected in good service, and a very nice accomodation. The buffet is very good at the hotel, in terms of quantity and variety of food. But if you're not the type of person who likes this concept of a food buffet, than you should absolutely get to the small nearby village of Panormo (5 minutes by car), and eat at one of the traditional family restaurants there.
The staff was very friendly and professional. The hotel looked magnificent and like brand new. Everything was top notch, especially for its price.
struggling to meet the star rating
Fantastic view of sea and mountains because hotel is up on the mountain, not at sea level. Amazing, delicious buffet breakfast. Large, bright room, large balcony. Large, well-maintained attractive property. Friendly staff. 2 pools with many lounge chairs
Location of hotel to the airport w/o having to stay in the city. Views of the sea. Beds were in poor shape and uncomfortable. Thin sheets, no mattress pads, pillows & bedding less than average.Loud discoi music at the pool bar until 11 pm, rather annoying.
We had a lovely room with a good view and were generally quite satisfied. The food was mediocre and somewhat limited in choice.
The only thing good about this hotel was the girls at the reception. Food was terrible, sheets were not changed in 4 days. Room was very noisy. Pool small for a 4 star hotel. Tv not functioning the first 2 days. The general manager is the rudest person I have met for some time. Not worth the 4 stars - avoid at all costs!
Not much 1) the hotel did not have a lift. 2) I booked a non-smoking room and was placed in a smoking room. 3) the hotel was full of children which made it very innapropriate for a couple looking to relax. 4) the fire alarm went off at 3:30am causing all to evacuate the hotel (false alarm). 5) the bathroom was filthy. 6) the TV remote control did not work. 7) shower was blocked. 8) breakfast menu limited
New and spacious rooms overlooking the pool with nice deco 4 stars hotels with no tea or coffee making facilities in the room. No bar service in the refrigerator. Changing towels and bedsheets every 3 days. Noisy from 9.45 in the morning because of the animation program!!! You definately have to follow a family holiday program.
Very friendly family owned hotel. Difficult to find, but once you get there you feel like part of the family. Home cooked moussaka, and a warm welcome
wonderful view, relaxing atmosphere. the village is half a tourist trap but we were far from the crowd and had a great time.
Comfortable, friendly, homelike, small apartments close to everything (beach, tavernas, city, sights, airport). The apartment was simple and nice and the view was beautiful. Some nights were hot, so air conditioner was needed. We had also a car so it was easy to jump in and go around the island. The owners were really friendly, thank you! Small minus were the loudy karaoke nights of the hotel next to this (Panodrama).
The view of the bay was quite nice, and at 25 Euros per night is was very inexpensive. The room was large and the pool was also large. However, you sometimes get what you pay for, and this was one of those times. I have to say that other guests (mostly German) seemed content. Our room was poorly lit and poorly ventilated and was musty with a strong odor of mildew in the bathroom. We were plagued by mosquitos in the room at night - these presumably entered through open ventilation ducts, one of which was located directly over a partially-filled bucket of water. There is limited parking and luggage has to be carried up a very steep hill. We moved after one night.
hard to find at night, the road to the hotel is dangerous. it far from most of the resurants, hard to reach, old and undeveloped.
Relaxing Too remote, you do need a car if your staying there.not even a small supermarket nearby
Had a wonderful stay at villa Bellevue. Friendly- family atmosphere, the view from the hotel is one of the best views in the whole Crete. The hotel is built in 7000square meters of lush greenery of palm, olive, lemon and hibiscus trees. The elevated garden area provides plenty of space for guests to move around in. Clean rooms, fresh clean bed linen. And very big swimming pool!! I didn’t notice anything negative about the place.
We needed a room for 1 night in between Santorini ferry and long drive to Kissamos. Netherless we expected relaxed evening in comfortable room with a view on the bay and had plans to stay until afternoon the next day swiming and going around Agia Pelagia. On arrival we was given some old room on the backyard with no view there we hardly spent a night, it looked nothing like on hotel's pictures, had a musty smell, squeaking doors, dirty carpet etc. We was glad to leave as early as we woke up never to return.
location; pool Additional charge for air conditioning not published; air conditioning in one of the two rooms only; no guest reviews on the web
The rooms seemed in need of renovation .Although out of season more of an effort could have been made with the breakfast !!
It was very convenient for Heraklion airport, especially as we were 3 hours late and arrived at 10pm Dog barking ALL NIGHT LONG - because of this we would NEVER stay at this hotel again
delightful setting, very interesting concept for a hotel No!
It is a beautiful small village transformed into a hotel!!!
Amazing--a room in a traditional village. My room had slate floors and was just off of an old road/alley and connected to shop of traditional folk art etc.Restaurant staff was so kind and inviting. Olive trees and stucco--incredible ambience. Part of the general ambience of Crete and Greece is the cats. While I was there a group of children separated a new kitten from its mother. The kitten was abandoned and meowing pittifully. The woman at the taverna (not restaurant) was very heartless regarding kitten and would not even sell me milk for it. All the while other visitors were enjoying the villages stray cats and were also concerned about the kitten. This was single handedly the only disturbing thing I found in my entire stay in Greece.
Rustic setting, beautiful location, big rooms Mix up on reservations--either booking.com or hotel at fault. Staff was very accomodating, though, and got us rooms.
Location to the beach The cleanliness, the staff, and the price (for what we got)
Good services for self-catering (though no oven). Friendly helpful staff. Very quite but a very safe 3mins walk from the main village and nightlife. Good currency exchange facilities and car hire close by (3 to choose from). Can buy all your holiday gear there (in the village), from flip-flops and shorts to inflatables. Hotel was great, we were self-catering so we didn't try the food though. They had the standard continental breakfast with cornflakes if you want them. Theres a staff of about 5 people so they haven't employed a michellin stared chef but you can get salads or sandwiches if you ask. Nothing fancy but good. We got milk, special K, eggs, bread and bacon from the local shop.
Relaxed atmosphere. We enjoyed being able to walk to the beach from the apartment. Driving directions to the Aquarius Apartments was much to general on Google. We need had to stop several times for additional direction from the airport.
The place was quite and the stuff was friendly. Also it was near the beach and easy for parking. You dont have Internet in the room.
Small and quite place, the team really tries to help and make sure you enjoy your stay Apartments are little bit small for a family of 5
The apartment was very well equipped and the bathroom was a good size. The bathrobes were very comfy- & the view was excellent!
The View Lots, Perched on top of a mountain with the noise from a busy motorway below. No shop, cafe or bar, nearest facilities were about three miles down very steep part track, part winding road. No transport facilities, should be sold as a car essential property (if you are brave enough to drive on those sort of roads).
amazing views, beach towel, bath robe and slippers provided, great terrace, complimentary wine&fruit, very comfortable beds need a car to get there, a bit far from everything (also far from disgusting Heraklion, which is good)
I liked very much the view of the Agia Palagia bay, the fresh air, the curtecy and friendliness fo the manager and the veranda
We had a wonderful time at Nymphes, Pepy the owner was really friendly and helpful but also didn't intrude. The view was spectactular, the apartment was lovely and spotless. It was nice being close to Agia Pelagia but up in the hills with a more relaxed atmosphere. If you stay here you really need the use of a car to get around, I wouldn't fancy walking up the hill every day, let alone in the hot sun.
I was welcomed by a very kind lady, and welcomed with complimentary bowl of fruits and white wine in the fridge. The view from my balcony is out of this world! Very quiet and relaxing place.
Cats, great view, Pepe to clean the rooms every day, car is nessesary
The location, swimming pools, gardens, general upkeep of the buildings. The air conditioning in the hotel and the rooms was not working efficiently, especially in the restaurant. The food and beverages were not up to the standard of a 4 star all inclusive. No evening entertainment as advertised.
Good service and pleasant surraunding. The food was good. our first experience of all inclusive hotel, We liked also the pool gymnastic .and guided exercice dance (one step etc.) Heavy disco musik just outside of our room.
the smallness of hotel. only six bedrooms in all. the wonderful very small greek fishing vilage that is panormo and its sea front position. It should point out more clearly that the balcony is shared
Quiet and near all sights in Crete if you hire car. Smell from sewage pump outside
Placement: lovely small village. close to small and lovely beach. great view from room. very helpful manager/owner. quite yet closed to a beautiful city and other nice spots
the captiain house has a very intersesting and nice architecture and is well renovated. we had a room with direct view on the sea. we also has possibilty to cook and a small balcony. the rooms were big in partly due to the huge ceilings. the vindow was thus very small like in a fortresss. there was no breakfast included and no one to do breakfast in the morning.
Very close to the sea and the apartment was very spacious given that there were only two of us! Had a bath too. We were in the ground floor apartment and the balcony was very overlooked. The others looked lovely and private though being raised above street level. The grill didn't work in our room but we had a large fridge and kitchen table!
Easy access from airport in Hiraklion. Half hour by rental car and easy to find. The owners are extremely friendly, helpful and speak English very well. Beach is 200 meters from hotel and hotel offers full course meals. Would definitely come back again. Great, budget accommodations.
Relaxed atmosphere, very friendly helpful staff, nice clean apartments, good food
good position, beautiful rooms and garden, chap
this hotel might be appropriate for the low budget traveller... we made the mistake the take off the linen from the bed...oh, the mattress could tell lot's of stories!
Hello. After we have seen the whole island we understood that village Agia Pelagia was a best place. Kind people, good sandy beach and a very tasty and cheap food. Apartment in Hotel Amazona was pretty nice and quiet. No complaints.
The apartment is good and there is everything you need for a nice holiday. There is Wi-Fi but the signal is not that kind of good. The cleanliness is sufficient. The staff of the hotel is very friendly and helpful, nonetheless when you go to the restaurant you can wait also 10 minutes before someone comes from you and I found the continental breakfast a bit poor. I want to point out that these things can be related to my stay in the end of September. Probably in high season it works a lot better. Definitely a good hotel and the price is very cheap.
The owner, Manos and his staff were fabulous! Most gracious hosts. We had a wonderful time at Eleonas. Manos scheduled a special cooking class for us. We made cheese pies, stuffed zucchini blossoms, tomatoes, and peppers, and moussaka. What great fun and it was served at the restaurant that night. The grounds around the restaurant and pool were beautiful. May want to note the number of stairs and hills for people with walking disablilities.
Everything! The beuty of the place, of the nature, of the cotteges that are full of comforts. The very good food and breackfast (everything was fresh, home-made and cooked at the moment). The staff is very kind and nice: Manolis, Manto, and Koula do all to make you feel at home. It's a marvellous place from which it'is also easy to reach beautifull sea places (Matala, Kommos, Agia galini); montains (you can thake a mountain bike and there is also an horse center), and the archeologichal site of Knosso, Festos, Agia Triada. At the end of the day was so nice to stay in the swimming pool looking the sky, the trees, the nature, the roses, without any noise and after have a very, very good dinner! It's, really a little piece of paradise.
Great location, good value, friendly staff.
Excellent Hospitality, relaxing atmosphere, especially if you have small children, great food, beautiful pool, nice rooms with great spaces and well equipped. We loved it and we will certainly visit it again. Maybe the breakfast, small variations would be nice.
A relaxed and very friendly atmosphere inspectacular surroundings. Difficult car parking at busy times. Hilly access to some cabins for less fit/older guests.
Our host accepted to serve again breakfast in spite of the fact we were 15 minutes late before time limit for service. The room was clean and adapted to our request (moreover, it had cheap price: 24€/night, breakfast included, but it was a special offer). The staff does not speak English very well, but the welcome was warm and careful.
the swiming pool view i has to walk may be 3km to get cash because the hotel does not accept credit card!
Good distance from all amenities and the beach. Rooms were comfortable and spotless. They didn't speak any english, so communication was difficult when it came to booking taxis to the airport etc. it was a family run hotel, but seemed quite a local place.
The hotel stuff (the owner family) is very friendly. The pool was great after a day in the greek villages and on the road, parking was fine, and the price was great. The location close to Heraklion and its airport (we had to wake up early to catch a flight) was a winning factor for us. 5 minutes walk at the evening brought us to the main street in Amoudara, street with plenty of resturants and some shops. Room equipment and shower are very basic. but still for 26 EU we could not expect more.
We booked this hotel because the next day we were going with a boat to Santorini. The bed in the room was squeeking every time you would move your toe. Very much noise from the busy road in front of the hotel. We did not sleep that night and could better have saved our money and simply leave early from our appartment in Chania. The staff could not speak english at all and requested me to pay cash instead of with credit card. Checking out took about 25 minutes because of this.
Simple and Silent hotel Bathroom too small and old. Towels old
It was cheap with a nice pool and breakfast. a small walk to the beach. No ventilation in the bathroom.. Owners not very good at english so communication was a bit difficult
Its location, it is very near to the bus stop which takes you to the airport for only 1.7 Euros and also to the beach. The owners don't know English. Breakfast in particular the drinks (coffee, milk ?? and tea ??) were really out of what we are used to. I can't say it was the most dirty hotel I stayed in but it didn't look very clean too.
Clean, good value. Ideal budget hotel if you're not looking for frills.
i liked everything.excellent service, quiet and discreet, very close to the beach and all other establishments.would like to have spent more time there. nothing really comes to mind
Difficult to find (no signs). Parking not so convenient. Not a great breakfast.
