Staff was great and very helpful. We stayed in a marina villa. It was perfect for our family of 5 (3 adult children) plus grandmom! The kitchen was well equipped, full size fridge and dishwasher. There was a washer and dryer in the second bathroom. The men loved the accessibility to fishing/ charters. The women loved the spa. The location of the resort is perfect. We could venture out to Islamorada(20-25 minutes) and get to Key West (1:15-20) too. Marathon is very close and you have access there to gas stations and grocery stores. There were planned activities everyday for all ages, although they usually cost extra. The wifi was very spotty despite having a router in the villa. Room service was a bit rude and unaccommodating. We only ordered once, so maybe it was just one person that left a bad taste. It would have been helpful to have some sponges/dish towels in the kitchen along with a few basics like salt and pepper and coffee filters.
The resort is thoughtfully layed out. The location is great. House keeping service was great. In my 3 day stay, I only ate at the resort. I got the worst food poisoning. I believe it was the Mediterranean platter poolside. I advised the reception desk and they just said they were sorry. No management followed up with me. For that I will not go back.
My family and I absolutely love this resort this is our second year coming here. I can't think of a single thing I would change. The staff is great and everyone is always smiling at Hawks Cay. Would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great family vacation.
Very clean and well staffed. Nicks and dimed you for activities that are normally included in the "resort fee" at comparable resorts
Nice and quiet place.Staff was great, clean and updated rooms. The lagoon looks awesome on the picture, but in reality is a small pond, not even kids can swim there. This picture is a joke .Room was 250$ which ok,plus 85$ taxes and other fees and on the top 45$ resort fee.(we didnt take any extras).Nobody expect 380$ for one night.
We upgraded to a Junior Suite when we arrived and were very happy with the room. Layout was great, we had a great view. It was too cold to utilize the pool or any of the outdoor dun stuff. While it deterred us, there were from crazy people laying by the pool in Parkas! Food was great - we only ate the breakfast Buffet Were got there around 8is, we were looking for something light to eat and a couple of drinks. When we sat down we were handed to Alma restaurant menu which is their fine dining restaurant. We were told that they took away the bar menu. Only other thing I noticed was that the gym was way to small. Felt claustrophobic and like they had just shoved every piece of equipmen that they could into this little tiny room.
Location, scenic, quiet Ageing facility, Wi-Fi coverage
Everything fun under the sun different zones for different vibes you want to feel tranquility pool for adults only, 24 hour pool for the entire family, kids play zone with pirate slide waterworks, with additional pool, beautiful property, free trams The valet (Dwight) was rude and standoffish. Georgina at the breakfast buffet was straight nasty and just needs to be fired after basically scolding my child, or have additional "training" I think the Dolphins could have done a better job dealing with the guests
Great location isolated on a key, but close to other cities. There is plenty to do - snorkel, scuba, tennis, parasail, fish, or hang out on the great grounds. The facilities are well laid out, with family and adult only areas. It was a bit pricey but we booked late for the holidays. The food onsite was good but not excellent. You are very close to other restaurants though in Marathon and Islamorado.
Great location, really nice amenities. We liked the setup too, smaller buildings built on the beach with a couple of lagoons. The pitch and putt course was great, as was the inclusion of sea kayaks, fishing poles, and tennis gear. NOT having stand-up paddle boards as part of the "resort fee" when virtually everything else is included is sort of dumb. The Atlantic Edge restaurant is pretty good, but way over priced for the fare when compared to other local restaurants. That said, there are LOTS of other local places so don't feel compelled to spend twice as much for a piece of fresh local fish.
Loved it, the amenities were great considering most resorts charge you for all the activities. The food and service was great and the place is so beautiful and lush.
ROOM AND SERVICE PEOPLE WERE GOOD AND HELPFUL NOT A "4" STAR LUXURY RETREAT BASED ON THE DAILY RATE BUT OK .
Everything! Felt very private everywhere! The grounds were beautiful. Decor elegant. Staff very nice and incredibly accommodating. Service at bar and restaurant a little slow to start. Would like the pool water to be a little cooler.
Great facility. Easily accessible. Professional and courteous staff members. Nice and clean
We liked everything about the resort. Nice quiet relaxing place Nothing
Nice relaxing ocean front resort. Rooms somewhat dated but very clean and comfortable with a mini kitchen. Pool and bar area very new. Lots of room with 2 pools and a very large beach. I would definitely go again. Good value for Florida Keys. Check in was a bit rough, room not ready on time
The resort is in a wonderful location right on the beach. The pool and beach bar are beautiful. The rooms were large, fresh and clean. Loved having a kitchenette and a screened-in porch! We'll definitely be back!
I liked the lanai, and the convenient access to the beach. The breakfast was excellent and the wait staff were so friendly. They were locals and gave us great advice on activiities that our grandchildren would appreciate. The beach and the pools were super. The zero entry into the pool was awesome. There are also great opportunities for water activity rentals-kayaks, sailboats, water cycles etc. Bandwidth on the wifi is inadequate for peak times in the evening.
The room had old Florida charm, but in a clean and cheerful way. I loved it! We are looking forward to our next visit!
The room was nice and spacious. We enjoyed being able to walk down and access the water without having to go anywhere. The restaurant was delicious and workers were super friendly. The front desk staff when we checked in weren't very engaging. Even when we checked out they were very matter of fact and didn't try to engage us. When we were walking out there was one that ask if we had fun and enjoyed our stay. She definetly out shined anyone else working in that department.
Perfect location. Make sure to wake up for the sunrise.. Shouldn't be missed. The rooms are clean and the staff is nice. Great value! We've never eaten on property but supposedly a continental breakfast is included. I've tried to book directly through hate on weekends and they have two night stay policy which is silly for the keys.
We have been going to the Islander on and off from before they had AC and only jalousy windows to the present so I guess we love it's old Florida atmosphere;especially off weekends. We also like the Pet Friendly atmosphere. If you want a wild time weekends are it
No one cleaned outlet rooms.
The room was great! Had everything we needed and more! Wish we booked more days. We will be back!
Nice rooms, beautiful pools, etc No possibility to print out check-in documents, very unfriendly staff. No reaction on complaints
Key Lime Martini!! I liked our Waiter (Cheryl)@Butterfly restaurant and Bartender@ Tiki (Styphon)... Too much attention to what one can't do!!! Makes a coldness about the place, to be soo nice.
We loved our condo, the proximity to the pool and beach, the grounds, and the Tiki Bar!
Great Position, and very nice accomodation, beautiful grounds. Nearby, Steak and Lobster restaurant worth a visit, proper American food at reasonable prices Service charges and Taxes jack up the already hefty costs. Beach Bar chaged $5 for a very small fruit juice for the children PLUS 18% service. Kitchen ware not very comprehensive, lack of furniture in lesser bedrooms.
I enjoyed the peace and quiet! We've stayed at Tranquility Bay before, so I knew what to expect. Our room was clean and fresh each day. More eating spots or hidden away vending machines...
Great! Beautiful accomodations. Nice facility! Odd smell out by beach
The 2-bdrm beach house was charming, immaculate, very comfortable and spacious. The beach was very nice and quite large. The Butterfly Cafe on the premises was an excellent restaurant. Our neighbors were playing some loud music. It stopped after about an hour, so we never complained.
Beautiful property, large rooms, full kitchen, balconies off each bedroom and back porch off living room. Incredible sunset views from beach. Huge, family-friendly pool with exquisite landscaping. Awesome workout facility. Need mats inside back door, the tile floors were very slippery. Housekeeping does not come daily. I would have liked to have the beds made and floors swept daily.
We stayed there for one night with another couple. We enjoyed it so very much and will be returning. It is more beautiful than we had all expected. Great bang for the buck!
Very peaceful, lots of grounds, it doesn't have the feel of lots of people on property. An adults pool. Several different areas on the property to relax - adult pool, lagoon pool huge beach for the keys Yes - the room did not have a few things that should be standard in the room - glassware, toaster It took several calls to the front desk, an approach to a housekeeping person and then finally a walk to the front desk - 3 hours to get 4 little glass's for the room.
The resort had excellent facilities for self catering and a restful holiday. Beautiful grounds, spacious villas - we had a 3 bedroom villa for a family of four, which would easily have slept 6 and 8 at a push. No, we loved everything
The location was great! The pool is ok but gets better after a few drinks. The beach activities are fun too. Had a great time snorkeling and paddle boarding. The food was AMAZING and very reasonable priced. The $25 resort fee is a joke(it includes parking, internet, and beach activities). If I have paid for a hotel, I don't want to have to pay more once I get there just to check in. The rooms were very small and had non functional furniture. There is nowhere to store your clothing. The water trampoline had a big tare in it so bouncing was out. The large inflatable rafts in the lagoon all had popped and were removed from the water during our stay. The pool was ok but really needed some upkeep. The bar looked like it was about to topple over into the pool. The alcohol was overpriced. All and all, we had a good time with our friends and family but I doubt I would come back. The resort was way too expensive for the value I received.
The location, ocean view, amenities and friendly staff Both bars closed for renovation. Bars that were open had rotting wood and mildew. Frozen oysters at raw bar.
Very modern room...although short on electrical outlets. Large, comfortable, and clean for a beach hotel. Lots of beach activities included in price which is great. Front desk clerks very nice and helpful. The hallways...made of concrete which is understandable but in your room you can hear guests walking, talking, etc.
The location and staff were great. Our room was very noisy when others were in the hall or adjacent rooms; this made it very difficult to sleep. A construction crew started working outside of our room very early in the morning. Our A/C wasn't very cold. The resort is undergoing renovations, and the amenities in service are very dated. The area was under a small craft advisory during our stay and they wouldn't let us use the watersports equipment.
I am a female police officer. I went on a mini vacation and stayed in this hotel. Staff, food and cleanliness were great. But I do have a safety suggestion that I unfortunately realized how unsafe this was until I had a bad experience. When you check in they ask you to put on a wrist band that you cannot take off (even if you try) so employees can verify you are a guest at the hotel. Not a problem until you leave the hotel and go to different locations in the area and bump into someone local and unfortunately don't have good intentions or they are a habitual criminals and are familiar with tourist wearing their hotel name on the wrist. This makes them know a few things: 1) that they are a tourist (not familiar with area) making the tourist an easy target. Marking them as an easy target to rob them as tourist usually carry cash on them. Break into vehicles since tourist shop for gifts. 2) and the most important and unfortunately it happened to me. The suspect/offender will know where you are staying making it easy for them to plan the crime. I had an unknown male approach me while I was listening to music and having dinner and drinks with my female friend at a restaurant nearby. Male extended his arm as if he was introducing himself. He made it seem as if he was the manager so I politely extended my arm and shook his hand. He introduced himself. He was a customer. He asked me if he can buy me a drink and hang out with him. I kindly declined as I am a married woman. Little did I know or realized he already knew where I was staying because that's when he took advantage and read the bracelet that sqys the hotel name. Long story short without going into details I saw this male the next morning in the property canvassing the area. Still didn't think much of it till I saw him at night again, qt which point he aggressively approached my friend and myself. I will not go into details but because of that bracelet I became a victim. I hope that policy changes where we do not have to wear anything advertising our 'home' location to everyone and anyone. That is our home when we go on vacation.
The place was really nice. Great location. Great restaurants in the area. The only issue was the shower. I can't descibe how bad it was. The room was nicely done but they forgot to update the shower. The shower and the maids. You couldn't even get them to say good morning. It became a game - who can get the maid to respond to good morning.
I loved that the resort fee included paddle Boarding and kayaks Did not care for the choice of music played at the Saturday BBQ
friendly staff, fun atmosphere under construction, non working elevators, expensive for what you get
Did not know the tiki bar was closed for renovations. But overall was a good place to stay for the money.
The property is very nice on the outside, where you spend most of your time. All staff was helpful (water equipment rental booth, front desk, and maintenance) Came to the Keys hoping to see iguanas and they had a large family hanging out in a remote section of the property! Water equipment is free to use daily for about an hour at a time. There is no area to grill. As a returning renter, I was disappointed their massive bar Rum Runners is permanently closed. The Tiki Bar was under renovation, and the room prices don't seem to fluctuate to reflect that, thus upon arrival my full expectations were not met. Obvious A/C leaking causing water damage to ceiling suggests they need to spend time inspecting/repairing units.
the grounds were lovely and well kept and a beautiful place. lots of lounge chairs etc. and the staff was wonderful, especially, dave at beach services and Lita at the pool bar . ate at the raw bar and the food was good.We had a wonderful time and the only draw back was the awful room. a very pretty place. the room was terrible. extremely small and poor lighting. bathroom was in need of work. except for the bed it was not a comfortable room to be in. a big disappointment ! there was no place to sit your things down or store your cases. smallest room I have ever stayed in.
the view of the ocean the pool the restaurants the tiki bar was under construction the hotel still needs some updating the bathtub was in poor condition the stairs need paint could use an elevator
The basic room was fantastic ! Lobed my stay! Nothing
This was the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. Staff could use a lesson in how to run a hotel
I loved the view and the size of the rooms however they were dated. There is nowhere to even buy a bottle of water on the resort. Needs a tiki bar and at least a snack bar.. Or soda machine!
Would highly recommend. Service was excellent. Room was comfy and nice.
Very nice marina. Too pricey for what it is.
We have been coming here for about 6 years now for lobster mini season, accommodations are perfect for us.... It would be awesome if the marina could comfortably accommodate midsize boats, I'm talking about 24' to 30' range... my dredging out some of the slips and channel. But I also understand that there are environmental red tape and hefty fees to make that happen down in the keys...
I enjoyed the location and appreciated the size of our room, almost a a one bedroom apartment. We didn't like that you could hear every footstep and door slam from our neighbors.
The place they moved us to was ok for the time we had it was near the dive shop and good restaurants still would have like to stay where we planned on staying. The staff was nice and rooms clean Check in was not tell after 4pm check out was by 11am even though we could stay and use beach after checking out it seemed rushed maybe next time we can stay longer and at the main resort.
The pool was beautiful and is heated! The views were amazing. At the time we stayed there was no wifi. There were tiny gnats crawling around the bathroom sink every day. The window hinge was broken so that the window would not close; however this was fixed immediately by the staff by screwing the window permanently shut. There was a coffee pot with supplies to make coffee, but no cups provided.
one bedroom with full kitchen sofa bed was broken and housekeeping said oh well sorry...and did nothing for fix...stay away from room 118
Nice pool and jacuzzi Old beds, rooms are old and a bit musty. Tv did not work. Was a bit more like a motel than a hotel
Awesome location, beautiful grounds, and an amazing beach front. Rooms were modern despite an older feel to the resort. Construction at the time of visit. They cut through a sewer line near my room and it was stanky. Was a minor annoyance and did not detract from my trip. But you may want to check and make sure the constuction has been completed.
The location was wonderful and the staff were extremely helpful. The rooms were very clean and were big enough that we would have been comfortable staying for a much longer time (we only stayed 2 days). We are definitely planning on a return trip to Islamorada and will be staying here again! The air conditioner was pretty noisy at night.
i liked the location of the resort. The activities like kayaking, biking and sailing were of no extra charge. Breakfast was included. The views and grounds were very attractive. Our college aged daughter and friends joined us for an overnight, and really loved the resort.
We liked the views and proximity to water and water sports. Breakfast was good. Plenty of outdoor seating to relax. Good location. Our bed was so tough to sleep in, and we tried both beds in the room. We woke up with sore backs and tossed all night. So we were tired a lot of the trip from barely sleeping. We are young too so this is not regular for us. Other than that, the room could have been cleaner, specifically the shower. And we wished for a tiki bar for drinks on resort.
Great waterfront view from our room, heated pools, and nice harbor for the boats. Covered parking was nice and the staff was also very friendly. You are charged a daily resort fee not included in the original cost, but I have to say it's less of a resort and more of a hotel.
Breakfast awesome fresh Construction all day next door, no food at property. The have a bar/tiki but it is closed. Rug in rooms very clammy. Only to sleep and leave.
Just ONE catamaran is not ready for sailing. Lack some important accessories for normal sailing.
We upgraded from a regular room to a suite 702, and was thrilled with the accommodations, could not have asked for a better view. Felt like royalty for 3 days. PS Breakfast is included I think with most rooms was acceptable
Staff was very helpful in getting our room upgraded to a king room. We were even able to upgrade to a king suite with ocean view. We did have to pay more, but it was discounted for us. Very quiet and relaxing with a beautiful view! Our room at first had 2 double beds and we wanted a king.
We stayed in one of the cottages. Nice screened in porch and beds were very comfy. Sitting on top of the tiki hut was awesome in the breeze watching the motor sports on the water. Really nice place. We saw a sign that said no taking wildlife from the lagoon so we didn't fish off the dock. The dock was full of snapper but we could only fish off the beach were there were no fish.
The view and well kept grounds were incredible. The view of sunrise and sunset were breathtaking. The tiki bar with local beers was a plus. Unfortunately we arrived and immediately jumped in the shower. The shower was not cleaned property with black long hair all over the shower wall. This was not s good start to our stay. Also, the shower and bathroom could be updated to reflect the beauty of the locale and the price of the rooms.
Loved the scenery and the beautiful waters. Very close to restaurants and shops. They di not have a Tiki bar or restaurant
Nothing Mosquitoes every where, dirty rooms, no lights in room, dirty all over the room, poor quality service, poor quality tv and out dated, no wifi, no breakfast, towels in very bad condition as well as bed clothings, bugs in bed and in rooms, food stuck on cling lamps, it had missing light bulbs, mildew on ceiling and walls. Terrible stay, I could go on, not even 1 star...
great idea, floating rooms by the pier and beautiful view of the bay near marathon, if you like fun unique places and don't care about luxury it's a great affordable place near key west
The room and location were great the fact that it included the motor boat was a plus. These are not complaints but suggestions:
The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. I would recommend staying here. Keep in mind that this is not a luxery hotel. Families, those seeking relaxation should stay here. I would consider this hotel as "old Florida".
On the beach location, use of motorboat, kayaks and pedalloes. On arrival, charging us another $100 on top for taxes.
The boat that comes with the room and the onsite restaurant also the location.
Driving motorboats to the riffs
Friendly staff;Great location;Excellent breakfast included;Nice fishing pier;Moody 1950s atmosphere and1950s music;Excellent restaurant menu;Nice waterside sandy esplanade(not really a beach)great for sunbathing and nocturnal stargazing; Use of outboard motorboats available for fishing included in the price;Plenty of pillows;Nice jacuzzi and pool. Rooms(at least ours)urgently need cosmetic surgery, specially the bathroom(rust-stained fixtures and long dead insects on top of the shower enclosure); The AC could barely keep up even if (noisily)working non stop around the clock;Decor dates from the 1950s and appears original;Restaurant menu prices extremely high,at Coral Gables levels(making us avoid eating there); The motel was probably top notch circa 1958 but now looks run down and not in my opinion a $150.00 a night hotel, even with the included features; With a good remodeling and updating it would be a great place again ;At this time I must have reservations about recommending it as not good value for the money(I can get a Hilton on Cocoa Beach for $100 a night at this time of the year
Relativel nicely located directly on the beach, easy to find Pretty worn out, not in good shape, not clean at all, sometimes shower, TV and Toilette didn't work
The beach, but the wind was blowing 30 mph from the East the days we were there and we could not use any of the items offered. Our room was under the kitchen that was in operation until 10:00 pm and opened at 7:00 am. Was very noisy. also the fan did not work in the bathroom.
Very cute, old timey-Keys and very tropical and relaxing. Boats included with package. It wasn't until after I booked the reservation that a 15% gratuity was added and the only way to "get out of" the reservation was with a 35.00 cancellation fee. Never told of the 15% fee prior.
