Location was decent in terms of each part of the city. Com for table bed... that's about it. Elevator was still rising with the door open. Wallpaper was peeling off all over the bathroom. No breakfast included. Bathtub faucet sprayed water everywhere when on shower mode. Room design was awful, you have to cross the toilet right in front of the bathroom door to get to the sink and tub. The hot tub was missing over 50 percent of the water so the jets were spraying everyone in the face. Small parking lot so we had to park across the street at a rundown bowling alley. Curtains let in a lot of light. Venting system would never shut off even on auto fan so room got dry over night. For how much this cost this was embarrassing. Will not be going back.
Thank you, Kayak for a great deal.
Room was very weird, windows and closet very dirty.
Staff was good, great view from room, revolving restaurant was great Building a little dated, but still a great place
The hotel was nice overall. Our room was clean and put together well, the restaurant was cool with the overlooking views, and the hot tub/pool was relaxing. We booked and paid for a "tower with lake view" room, but our room was given to someone else and we ended up with a city view, which was a huge disappointment.
Very clean and nice rooms. Sleep number bed, but the control to adjust the bed didn't work.
Restaurant options, indoor pool, and wonderful room with great features and complimentary items.
The location was nice/convenient. The bar/restaurant on the top floor is such a diamond in the ruff. What a spectacular view. However, I think you are missing the boat on what the bar on top could be. We went up to enjoy the view and a cocktail or two. We sat up there for two hours while we waited for the rest of our party. We were only waited on once. Five of us sat there with empty cocktail glasses and could not get the young man to even look at us. We had menus in our hand and would have love to order a few appetizers. It didn't happen. And the black metal railing the separates the windows from the rotation is terribly dirty. Rooms in need of updating. Hallways are dirty.
I loved how close it was to downtown shops and event areas so I could walk everywhere and I don't have to worry about parking or driving. The room was small but cozy. I had a special deal throigh Kayak so that's why I chose this hotel and I had a pleasent time for my stay. Needed a little cleaning in icemachine and vending areas. Also the elevators where a bit rikity for being a hotel with rooms on the 10th floor. But the biggest annoyance for my visit was the staff. When I went to check in the girl obviously didn't understand that I had already purchased my room and was going to charge me for a whole other booking. So a tip would be to double check that the receptionist follows what you're telling them and not making you pay extra for your room.
Nice view. (from our room) wasn't as great for another couple we met. But they had a dog. Coffee in morning No cheap breakfast. Staff interaction was not bad. Just not fantastic either. 3/5.
The room was clean for the age of the facilities. The staff were not friendly or even pleasant. The fact that there was not a breakfast, for $100 a night I'd say thats a rip off.
Manger was helpfull and very nice A/C had a tough time keeping up
It's proximity to great attractions and sight seeing.
Clean, friendly staff, lots of amenities, nice rooms. Pool was loud until close and then it was nice and quiet. Great place. Will stay again! Nothing
good value - lots of amenities and close to everything.
Staff very friendly. Hotel is clean. Nice reception for the runners. They jacked the rates up for the marathon. Over $300 per night? In Duluth? Really. It's a Holiday Inn. Our floor was the 10th. Lots of noise echoing through the halls until about 10:30 when the pool closed. No doorways on the hall to block noises from the pool area.
Staff was very friendly My window leaked a lot of cold air so I had to pull the shade to the room warm
Overall it is a good hotel. Clean, room was clean and smelled good. Good area for walking to bars/restaurants, getting to the pier, etc and not far from the highway. Front desk person was nice and even suggested a few spots for hiking for us. We stayed on a level that had a pool and it was pretty loud. They have two pools I believe and they take up the exact center of the floor and have rooms surrounding the pool with maybe 10 feet of space on each site. We could hear conversations going on at the pool from our room with the TV on, so definitely ask for a room not on a pool level if you want a little more quiet setting. Overall a good hotel though.
Our room overlooked the atrium pool. During pool hours (almost ALL our time there), so unable to take a nap at 4:00 after hawk watching. And until the pool closed at 10:30, VERY noisy. I would stay here again ONLY if could get an interior room away from the pool.
The room is clean. The fridge is too nosie.
Very nice & well managed hotel. Close to everything, and quite comfortable. I can see where if you had a room by a pool it might be too noisy. We did not, we had a room with an amazing view of the harbor and we had a lovely and very relaxing time. Would recommend and we will come again.
The location is great, close to Canal Park and the Duluth sights that most tourists want to see. We've been staying here on family vacations for many years and this hotel just feels comfortable, like a favorite pair of Levis.
Location was good for doing things in downtown Duluth. Staff was friendly, room was clean, if on the small side. Room was too close to the 8th floor pool. Good luck taking a nap or sleeping anytime between 6am and 10:30pm.
Location. Front desk guy on a Friday around 3pm. We got a hall room, the pool area rooms are probably really loud. Housekeeping knocking on doors loudly in the early morning. Lots of young teenage boys. Elevators.
The free bike rentals were very useful, the free kayaking was fun. The location is great, nearby lots of good restaurants and walking/biking distance from canal park. Room and staff were wonderful, and you can't beat free Smores by the firepits outside! Great for a couple, or for friends. The air coming from the a.c. unit in our room smelled very sour, we didn't notice this until we woke up the next morning and could smell it in the air, easily traced back to the a.c.. I also wish that the kayaking wasn't limited to the small slip in front of the resort. My only other complaint was all the drunks who were hanging around the fire pits and airing out their dirty laundry, but that wasn't the resort's fault.
Love the decor and location!
The location was perfect and the hotel was fantastic!
The moment I walked in the door I was greeted with friendly smiles. The staff was superb. The location is amazing with spectacular views. They offer many things for guest to do such as kayaking, taking peddle bikes around the town, s'more kits by a fire at night, and all included in your stay. My new favorite spot to stay in Duluth.
the price compared to every other property on the canal. The coffee was Luthern Church weak, I could see the bottom of the cup. It was a little weird having a room with no windows, but ok since hardly ever in the room. The layout was a bit odd, couldn't watch TV from bed, or couch for that matter. Toilet was incredibly short, low to the ground.
Always quality. Very comfortable. No meat w breakfast. Timberlodge was closed for the season.
The convenience of Canal Park the hotel is close to everything. Since the Hotel was remodeled from a warehouse all interior suites are high ceiling dungeons. The rooms had the decorating touch of some of the former warehouse workers who then sold there household furniture to add to the ambience. The exterior of the building was only missing the touch of a couple of drunks by the front door. To be fair it was twenty below wind-chill that day. So in the fall they are probably there. The walk across a busy street with luggage did add to my excitement while I stayed there. Oh I almost forgot the breakfast seemed like it was sent over from a near by restaurant there yesterday left overs.
The interior room was very spacious and included a kitchenette with a full sized refrigerator. The only time I missed having a window was waking up in the morning to darkness. Other than that, I never thought about it. The range hood fan was perfect for some white noise while sleeping. The room felt very private, and the location was ideal. Also included free parking.
Great staff; Location superb - closest hotel to Convention Center. I loved the warehouse-reftrofit character of my room. I could even open my window to hear the sounds of the harbor. Loved the place. Cleaning supplies left a "minty-grapefruit-petro" smell that was noticeable upon arrival.
The bed was comfortable The staff were rude. The hotel is dated and dingy. It's inconvenient in regards to parking not only the location of the lots but the fact you have to place a parking slip on your dash and provide the hotel with your license plate and car info. A little redundant to save time for their staff not their customers. The staff was lazy and entitled especially the day manager. Hotel is very dark and features colors such as hunter green. It has an odor and generally is not clean and overpriced. But the worst part is the staff.
Close to hwy 35 and canal park Parking really was not great winter will be really really bad. There were hairs in the tub . No mini fridge. The price was 162.00 not even close to worth the money. And so much police activity
Staff identified my reservation and confirmed my accommodations on the phone prior to checking in, but we didn't get what we had reserved when we checked in. The management did knock off $20.00 on the bill. Staff changed our accommodations from 2 double beds to one double bed. The room was very small, near the exit door where you can hear the slamming of the door, tv remote didn't work and the street traffic could interrupt sleep. Room 123.
The coffee The room was small bed was small and uncomfortable garbage still had used hygiene products in it the tv remote didn't work and the door outside our room was not functioning properly and rattled the room when people used it
Good location, rooms were clean
great price and location poor ventilation in the rooms, no fridge, walls were dirty
The gentlemen at check in was super nice and made sure to tell us everything we needed to know for an enjoyable stay. There were a few outlets in the room that did not want to work. Wasn't a huge problem just made charging 4 phonesba little trickier. Other than that, very pleased with our stay.
We were across the parking lot from the office/check in desk, and the wi fi didn't reach our room. The parking lot, like much of Duluth, is on a huge slant, and if we would have brought our Harley, we wouldn't have been able to park in their lot. The room seemed clean enough, but very VERY old and the bed skirt on the bed was ripped noticeably. We walked to dinner, and as we were walking back to the hotel, nearing sunset, we didn't necessarily feel safe doing so. This is a dark and dingy hotel that charges too much. If we hadn't been coming into town at 6pm and had more time to look for other lodging, we would have passed this place by in a minute. Keep looking is our best advice.
Good location. Went there for some conferences at DECC. Walked to the conference center and back. The day of checkout I discovered my car battery was dead. Gentleman at the front allowed me to leave my car in the lot until I was done at the conference and come back to deal with it. Breakfast was good. Doughnuts, cereal, muffins, toast, Jimmy Dean sandwiches and a variety of beverages. Room seemed clean overall. Would have liked a list of all the channels so I could find something to watch without having to flip through every single channel very slowly. Room was a little chilly when I came in so I turned on the heat. After the heater was on for a bit it warmed up very nice.
This motel is located downtown and walking distance to canal park and the DECC, our purpose for the stay. It is dated but included wifi and breakfast. With that said our Wifi didn't work as they were recovering from a big storm the night prior. They ran out of milk (!) at breakfast and simply put up a sign saying so. The toast I defaulted to smelled sour in toaster and when I went to butter it, saw that it was mouldy. Because of the events in town we paid at least $100 more than what it is worth. The staff was friendly though, especially the young woman who set me up in the office so I could print our show tickets when their internet was down. We paid a lot for a very basic and old hotel that didn't meet breakfast or Internet/wifi expectations.
Very clean and comfortable. Within blocks to the shore. It's really not a Best Western. Price was high, front desk clerk not very friendly.
I reserved 5 rooms for our group. When we arrived they only had 1 room reserved for us. Fortunately I had the confirmation for the 5 rooms, and they had 4 vacant rooms so could accommodate us. The office person said that when I reserved them it should have automatically updated in their computer. This caused some tense moments but it was resolved. The rooms were fine, and it was good location, with a good restaurant nearby.
Room had a musty odor but hotel is in downtown area
