10.0 Excellent
Pros: I arrived at Casita de la Vaca tired and emotional after a very stressful few days. Sharon, Mark and Isabella were so warm and welcoming - it felt like coming home to friends rather than arriving at a hotel. The room, though small, was just perfect. A comfortable bed with lovely bedding and a great shower in the bathroom - two of my 'must haves'. The little courtyard area was a delight. I had a lot of work to do on my laptop and it was so much more enjoyable doing it sat at one of the little tables in dappled sunlight, surrounded by passionflower and bougainvillea and listening to birdsong.
Cons: The only thing I didn't like was having to say goodbye to such lovely people at the end of my stay! I'm not sure when I will be back in the area but I know where I'll be staying!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Imagine coming to a hidden valley at the foot of beautiful Sierra Nevada. Then imagine you find a oasis with thick green grass and a swimming pool that seems to have been gently carved out of the mountain. When standing in the garden you see a house which playful architecture still blends perfectly with the surroundings. You open the doors and the owners give you a tour and tell you to feel like home. You have just checked in at Juan Valiente. The atmosphere here can best be described as a combination of the luxuary resort it is, a museum and Willy Wonkas chocolate factory, in a very good way, that is. You will leave this place with new friends, lifelong memories and recharged mind. Did I tell you about the food or the private cinema?
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything , food, the room, the views, snooker room, cinema, wine cellar ,great pool area and bar.
9.5 Excellent
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The place has a magical quality (and a unique style) that encourages you to unwind, relax and enjoy the amazing surroundings. Laurence and his family are fantastic hosts and provide attentive, informative service and wonderful cooking. The wine cellar should also be investigated! Being at the foothills of the Sierras the area has its own more temperate microclimate in the summer heat. It is also well place betwixt coast and Grenada to sample the region.
Cons: Nothing. We had a great stay.
10.0 Excellent
Cons: absolutely nothing
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Juan Valiente is much more than the hotel. It is a very special place build over many years, the house and gardens with trees, fruit and flowers, with collecting things from many different places! It is social dining, funny discussions with the owners or other guests! You can relax or be active in many ways.. We can hardly recommend the food
Cons: The bed was not the very best for us, a little too small, a little too hard.. Tiny space on the sides.. Next time we would like another room. They are all different!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I never write reviews, this is a first. We would really like to thank Laurence, Isabel, Amador and the dog for letting us stay at their house and hospitality. We had a wonderful stay at this special place. I will recommend it to anybody who would like to see this beautiful house, at this wonderful location and with interesting, and most of all kind people.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic location right by the mountains with breathtaking views ! Only a short drive to the Alhambra (approx 20 min). Very beautiful house with antiques everywhere, clearly Laurence put all his heart into it! It had all the facilities you can think of and it was always a pleasure to chat with Laurence who is very friendly. Thanks a lot we will be back !!!
10.0 Excellent

Pros: The room was comfortable and the bed comfortable. We really enjoyed the Nespresso machine in the room and the daily complimentary coffee refill. We also enjoyed the complimentary shower gel, etc from Rituals and the fresh new towels. Sandra and Eduard were most helpful in answering our many questions and offering directions We were pleased that they were able to offer us 2 additional nights.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: everything perfect, the room, the balcony, the pool, the breakfast and the hosts!
7.5 Good
Cons: I would have appreciated a few more basic ingredients in the kitchen. There was a beautiful nespresso machine, for instance, but no coffee pods. After I had been out and bought a pack I learned that there was an honesty bar where I could have bought things.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The owners and comfortable rooms.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We have travelled around the world and this place gives you this special feeling of satisfying all your needs. We had an exhilarating dive into the swimming pool, a huge bed with super soft towels and after we waked up, we got tasty homemade granola breakfast with lots of fruits in the morning to start of the next day. We don't need to add more. This tiny, cosy, pleasant hotel in the middle of the mountains and the sea side offeres everything you want: Top rooms with an eye for the detail, an open fridge for guest to grap as many drinks you want during the night, lots of privacy, some secrets from the owner about nice spots of the area and and and ... not to forget the amazing rooftop terrace to take in amazing nightscapes in peaceful solitude. Thanks!
Cons: nothing I could think of
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The comfort and size of the room was wonderful and having a private terrace was outstanding. Sandra and Eduard were so welcoming and helpful with hiking information and interesting places to visit. They have great local knowledge and easily cater to your interests. The pool was such relief after hiking and the breakfast preparation was above expectation. Perfecto! A true sanctuary.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The location was what we were looking for, somewhere quiet in a mountain village. The building as expected was old but well appointed. The bed was very comfortable, we had the room with the balcony and were able to open the bathroom window thus providing a nice air flow. Towels were good and plentiful, even a towel provided for pool use. We chose to have the evening meal which was simple but enjoyable and reasonably priced.
Cons: The inside of the house was very clean but the poolside, patio area needed a sweep to discourage the ants Unfortunately, breakfast was a let down. Although there was only one couple to have breakfasted before us it looked like we were having the leftovers with very little muesli left and only a half inch of jam in a the jar. There was also a little dish of cubed melon and some local ham but presentation was very poor.

Cons: The man who checked as in and served our dinner and breakfast the next morning took my boyfriend's details instead of mine and took his signature although the room was booked under my name and paid by me. I did not manage to get a single smile our of that person and he seemed rather annoyed by our being there.

Pros: A great location and good local food.
Cons: Lots of stairs
10.0 Excellent

Pros: Authentic Spain. Great restaurant and ambience. Good value and great location for exploring the Lecrin Valley.
Cons: Nothing.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Its was remote which is exactly what we were looking for and the on site restaurant is lovely.
6.3 Good
Pros: Room sizes were ok. Beds were comfy. and view was lovely
Cons: Air con units kept tripping electrics putting us in darkess ...we gad no idea where box was to turn it back on. This happened 5 times ..eventually we turned 1 off and froze most of night. Breakfast was only a toasted bagette butter jam.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The room had a terraza. The price included breakfast. There is a swimming pool
Cons: We were bothered by flies in the restaurant but I´m not sure what they can do about that as it is mostly outside.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The rooms were light, clean, modern and v very comfortable. Marvellous views of the surrounding countryside. Lovely pool. Breakfast was generous and delicious, the restaurant very good and efficient, and generally the atmosphere was so nice and welcoming and fun.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The location (Melegis) is extremely pleasant and for the money the room was just fine even if the bathroom was a little primitive. Good value for money and the environment was really beautiful
Cons: The menu is too large for their kitchen to manage efficiently and we are afraid that in the first evening the pork fillet medallones wre actually not fillet as they had some gristle in them which pork fillet does not have. The presence of three feral cats begging at table was especially appalling especially since I am allergic to cats, very allergic. These cats were obviously mangy as well and I think must have had fleas as I was bitten by some strange insects on that first evening. After complaining there were no cats on the second evening! They would do better to stick to a simpler menu and do it well. Finally my wife and I both suffered some stomach trouble after the visit and although we cannot PROVE that the kitchen there was to blame we do rather suspect it as we did not eat elsewhere when we were there. Have to say also that although effectively free the breakfast was extremely primitive consisting of a drink, orange juice from a bottle and clearly with added sugar, not fresh (strange as this area is famed for its orange production AND the hostal is CALLED Los Naranjos).. The only solid food was ONE half baguette not all that fresh and toasted with either butter and jam (the butter was too liquid and had started to melt) or tomato puré. Have to say also that for the quality the main meals were rather expensive - reflecting more the quality of the menu that that of the food itself.

Pros: Clean, comfortable, has a restaurant at the bottom floor. The bed was very comfortable and warm.
Cons: There was a funny smell in the room/ hallway from the water pipes.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Hostal in great location. Room was large and very clean, with good Air Conditioning, and a new Television set. bathroom was also spotless. Loads of hot water.
Cons: The shower cubicle is showing its age, and could do with being renewed/
9.3 Excellent
Pros: A very friendly stuff, a clean room, despite the description stating it was a hostel, there was a bathroom, towels, a fridge in a room, a small balcony. A AC with a warm air as it was a cold night, an extra thick blankets and pillows in a wardrobe completed a comfort of stay. A hotel is based above the pub/restaurant, so you can come downstairs and mix with locals in a great atmosphere. There is a parking in a front of the property A great accommodation on the way to Granada/ Alhambra with great views. Padul is a quiet town, so even that the hotel is on the main road, it was a quiet night.
Cons: The only thing you have to be prepare for is the stuff doesn't speak English, but my friend's Spanish, our sign and body language was tested but still think that it was a cute communication. The breakfast was a bit scanty, we got a small sandwich baguette, grilled, which made it even more crusty with a bit of jam and a tea.
3.3 Mediocre
Pros: Standard spanish breakfast was ok.
Cons: The persistent smell in the (bath)room was unacceptable and unbearable. The hotel is located in a Very noisy place , with much noice till 4 AM.
6.8 Good
Pros: Every day clean towels. The (bath)room is clean.
Cons: The shower holder was broken so we had to hold the shower faucet. During the weekends it can be quite noisy in the room during the night from noises outside and from the bar downstairs. We had a neighbour who snored very loudly, either his bed was straight to ours or he snored enormously. There is a balcony but no chairs neither a table.
