We were very well looked after at all times. There is an air of relaxation about the place and the facilities were excellent. The staff was very courteous and pleased to assist at all times. We would definitely stay at Quinta de Malta again.
Quiet, clean , interesting history, attention to detail and always conserned that things were up to our expectations Wished we had booked for a longer stay to enjoy all the ammentaties
Accomodation was very comfortable, had character and was clean. Access to a fridge in the shared appartment area was nice and the shared seating area provided a place to meet and talk with others who were sharing the accomodation. Interesting mix of nationalities - Dutch, German and British. We thought the pool was wonderful.
A stylish and comfortable property, all very well presented. The breakfast was very average.
The views, installations, pool, large, well-decorated rooms and the tranquility No bar or restaurant in the hotel or within walking distance.
Beautiful surroundings and excellent breakfast. The Quinta is lovingly restored. Lovely owners and particular thanks to Alice for being so welcoming. Unfortunately, although the hotel has loads of facilities - tenis courts, swimming pool etc, there were no available staff at all times manning the facilities or for drinks ie tea, coffee or bar. Tea/ coffee making facilities in the room would be a great asset as would better stocked mini bar.
Great location very peacefull. Staff could not be faulted in any way everywhere was pristine and very clean. Breakfast was very good although continental also catered for English tastes. Facilities excellent with even more to be added later in the year apparently. Throughly recommend.
Nice Continental breakfast with mountain views. Peaceful location, with great places to sit and relax. Nice pool area. Our room was really small (only room for one bedside table) and the bathroom was tiny (no bath, only shower, and the door does not open more than half). Nothing like the available pictures. It would be nice if there was some light food and drinks available, in case you don't want to go out, but there is a Supermarket very near. Not suitable for guests on wheel chairs.
This is a fantastic place. Impressive quiet place, big and beautiful room, excellent breakfast and a very friendly manager.
The hotel was in a beautiful setting. Close attention paid to cleanliness, linen, towels, etc changed each day. The manager was very well informed about the history of the hotel and the surrounding area. He made sure the hotel was a friendly and relaxing environment for guests. We chose the hotel over our usual holiday choice of a villa, since we felt the facilities would offer a little more to our teenage children. We were right. They enjoyed the tennis, pool and gym area. We had a very hot week, and the chance to go into the lovely cool communal areas was very welcome. Just perfect! Nothing.
The rooms are amazing I thought the lights in the spa were too bright.
The room is very comfortable and the bathroom is well designed. The breakfast was great. Very friendly staff.
Everything was great. It's a very modern new hotel and the staff are exceptionally attentive. Slow elevators, in the morning you have to wait a few minutes.
English-speaking, friendly staff. Lovely interior design and furnishings. Super Spa. Easy parking. Chocolates and grapes in the room when we arrived were a lovely surprise! Nowhere in the bedroom for me to use my own hairdryer or straightener in the room and be close to a mirror ! The bedroom was too dark to work with my lap-top and documents. Breakfast did not include any fish options (smoked salmon etc).
Amenities Weak internet in the room
Inconvenient location, light in bedroom is bad, ac does not work (not even after complaint), poor air circulation in bedroom and corridors (damp and smelly), disappointing breakfast
Beautiful modern room and hotel, quiet and clean... Good breakfast
Clean and polite staff... almost a 5 star hotel, very close to the city center, although we still had to walk for 20 min. Breakfast was good and complete, but very disorganized... there were more persons waiting for a clean table than those who were acttualy having breakfast.
Facilities in rooms excellant and spacious with good internet connection for business purposes. Hotel overall spacious and airey. All peaceful and nobody rushing around thus allowing me to relax during the evening. Location meant that it was rather a long walk to the centre of the city along not very salubrious areas which were not well lit.
The most interesting thing on this hotel is the SPA Rooms are too noisy and not thermally not confortable. Price is too high for hotel conditions.
Nice new hotel - large rooms good bathroom. Quiet rooms. Excellent beds. Very good location - small town is very nice. Breakfast is ok but could be improved. Coffee from the coffee distribution machine is not good. The overall atmosphere and management misses dynamism. Modern building, design and equipment but staff is somewhat outdated.
bed and airconditioning
Friendly SPA and Facilities; Building Design;
the room was large and spacious. nice bathroom. spa a bit disappointing separate swimming pool to a small spa which got crowded. slippy floors. staff could speak english and spanish but wouldnt and continued in portuguese apart from the barman who really made an effort.
Cleansiness was very good, staff was friendly, food OK. Fitness equipment too old and not fully functional - very often "misused" by kids. Strange smell on the third floor - musty odor. Size of the pool.
Excellent facilites and ideal location next to beach
Ocean views. Very helpful, charming staff. Restaurant did it's best to acoomodate a vegetarian diet.
All facillities were clean . Food at breakfast was good [I did not use the hotel resturant in the evening.] Plenty of entertainment on site The hotel corridors and rooms could do with some tlc. The carpets are threadbare and the air conditioning does not cool the rooms down . The smell of cooking as we approached our room was not nice.
The noise of the sea It´s too hard parking during week-end
the hotel was very well placed, the pool very good and clean, the staff were very attentive and excellent (especially the waiters in the restaurant), the restaurant food was really good at dinner the airconditioning settings could not be changed and it was very warm and muggy inside the room at night, we had to open the patio doors.
Very relaxing with lots of facilities. Any problems quickly resolved. The area is lovely and the beach fantastic. Will definitely visit again. Rooms not quite 4 star standard although very large, clean and comfortable. Day excursions arranged at the hotel would be useful, otherwise have to use a car or local buses which have limited destinations and unpredictable schedules
i've stayed at the hotel for the last four years and always enjoyed it. A good hotel for families, close to the beach with many restaurants within 10-15 minutes walk (in Fao, the next village). Very relaxing with pleasant gardens. Good facilities - bowling alley, tennis courts (2), putting green, pool. Helpful reception staff. At times, a shortage staff in the bar - particularly in the afternoon - meaning that service was a bit slow. The staff did their best but at times had too much to do. The hotel has a ten-pin bowling alley, however it is clear that no investment has been made in it in recent years - lack of (particualy ones for children) balls and many of those were damaged. At weekends in the summer, the resort is extremely busy and so parking is difficult, meaning that it may not be possible to enter the hotel car park. Breakfasts are ok, but not comparable with those in the hotel's 4 or 5 star Spanish equivalents.
situation close to the sea. no.
Just right. Excellent location. Very nice staff. Great, really great breakfast. I will definitely be back. Nothing. It was really fine.
The limited staff were very helpfull I would rate the hotel 2-3 star and not 4 star. Disapointed because I was expecting more.
The pool area was very nice it is a big hotel and therefore not so personal service
It is all about the staff. Sandra made the difference, she was great with the kids, we had over 15 kids under the age of 11 (soccer trip). She found an a local news article about our kids and sent the article to all the parents via email. For international visitors the staff can upgrade their English speaking skills
the location to downtown Braga, the staff. swiming pool should stay open longer.
location, confort nothing
well located, clean, quite a large room so comfortable
The prices for the parking and rooms was good, location is exellent The rooms should be renovated, air conditioning is poor, breakfast was too simle
This hotel fairly well located, excellent staff we felt we were in 5 Star hotel.
Hotel, although in an ugly modern building, is very specious, rooms big, bright and comfortable. The situation is excellent, convenient for shopping, museums and restaurants. Hotel staff are efficient and pleasant. During our trip we stayed in all sorts of hotels, expensive and not and found this one particularly good for a relaxing evening/night after busy hours spent sightseeing with kids.

Excellent location. Good rooom quality and decoration. Buffet breaksfast good (except coffee). Staff pleasant helpful and had good English. Room walls too thin leading to a lot of noise from other rooms hence poor rating for comfort. For me this is a serious issue that ruins an otherwise good hotel. Breakfast coffee poor.
A professionally run hotel in a historical building; tastefully converted. A friendly welcomed from all staff. The rooms are light comfortable, and warm - with a welcoming pack of fruit and mineral water on arrival. Well stocked mini bar. The location is very central and the restaurant is very good. Breakfast is fantastic, caters for all tastes and even offers soya milk! Intensive positive experience for a short stay. This is a minor point: The furniture fittings are due for a refurb soon; but the bathroom fittings and fixtures were very effective and stylish. The restaurant could offer more vegetarian options.
The value for our money was top-notch for this hotel. The staff were terrific, and the breakfast in the dining room was wonderful. The location of the hotel facing onto a centreal square and park, was exceptional.
Great location for seeing Braga. Would have liked tea / coffee facilities in the room.
friendly staff - delicious food ´superb breakfast - enjoyed pianist at dinner. liked garden space. no. beautiful building. family atmosphere.
The restaurant was superb; both in terms of food and ambience Unfortunately - and obviously not their fault and mainly because this was a walled city - the parking was difficult and expensive.
The hotel was very nice. It was clean and the hotel was located in the centre of Braga. They had a small but nice bar area and the restaurant was very nice with a small outdoor sitting area in the back. No parking. We had to park across the park and drag our luggage up three flights of stairs, across the park and into the hotel. This was a major pain in the butt. Also, there was no discounted rate at the parking garage. It cost us 21 euro to park there for little over a day.
Excellent freindly service and value for money
Friendly staff, excellent location.
splendid location views, splendor of the building furniture little bit outdated in the rooms
Restaurant served good food. Staff were friendly and helpful. Room and bathroom were very small for this class of hotel and price
It is a very good hotel. My wife and I had been there for four times and we enjoy the City, the beaches and the whether.
The fantastic views of the town below. The super relaxing atmosphere with little intrusion by staff. The relaxing lounge. the hotel decor/ fittings are starting to get rather dated (1980's) in the bathroom, who wants a bidet now or plastic/ glass towel rings?
The staff were very helpful and the common areas and room very clean and nicely furnished. Very good breakfast with champagne which was a nice touch. There was no pool side bar and there was a very limited menu for the restaurant. I would also have liked to have had a bar/cafe menu for snacks during the day. Would also like more sun beds and umberellas and some heating in the pool! The room was small for the price. Drinks were very expensive .....3 Euros for 1 litre of water!
It was a beautiful place, and the staff spoke English very well. The bartender was especially nice (sorry I didn't catch his name).
Stunning view, good facilities, courteous staff
The location of the hotel is excellent. It is a very elegant hotel. The staff were very good. Pan pipe music in hotel is awful. Quality of restaurant food in evening could have been better, the description was better than the final product.
Veiw Top of hill
A modern hotel only a short riverside walk from the town centre. While reasonably comfortable it is absolutely soulless. It's total lack of charm.
Brand new hotel, really nice staff, excelent design and architecture, the best location in town right by the river and 2mn walk from the old centre...Excelent value for the money they charge. The acoustics of the room could be improved, some noise from the corridors and other rooms... could have a pool...but since you have the river just in front...take a dive!
This was a lovely modern, designer hotel, situated a few minutes walk from the town centre. We were treated with great courtesy by the reception staff, who were very helpful. Beautiful rooms: very comfortable. The hotel had a rather subdued sign outside and we walked past a couple of times before realising it was our hotel.
The hotel staff really does an effort to please the guests.
The staff were very helpful The area surrounding the hotel was restful and scenic
Execellent location. The grounds are well kept and there is lots to see around the hotel. The history is preserved in the whole complex. We had a very pleasent stay. Like most of the hotels in portugal and spain- no Iron or Air conditioning.
Beautiful location and wonderfully quiet. Staff nice and welcoming. Very romantic Bed creaked !
Very nice and interesting place
Wonderful position! Magnificent views. Like being in a fairytale setting. Comfortable room-good breakfast. An absolute "must see" place.
We did not like it, because the airco did not work. So we left after one night
the location of the hotel for the view over braga loading and unloading area for the customers (incline )
Poor room service. Very very tired old furnishings.
Old world, good views. Associated with other hotels which are only 200 metres away and which have better/modern facilities (food, spa, bar etc)
Lovely standard, very friendly reception staff, great restaurant Nowhere to sit outside near the beach or pool
Convenience and the view was very nice.
Quiet, right in front of the sea and beach. Modern, minimalist design. Make sure to book a sea view room. Good restaurant. Access to swiming pool and spa for hotel guests.
Very close to the sea our room had the afternoon/evening sun which was great. A bit 'out of town'. Food very good but on expensive side
The style, comfort and location in the town No restaurants close by
the beach was beautiful, the rooms were clean but small. i was disappointed that we did not have an ocean view room.
Excellent ocean views, spacious modern rooms.
fabulous view Terrible smell at night from burning rubbish. A couple of chairs on the room terrace would be welcome
good food, good location.
The sea view rooms are worth the extra money, however all rooms face either the beach or the pool. The restaraunt was expensive compared to other local restaraunts and the food was not up to the expected standard. There was also no option for vegetarians.
All of it. The view from our room was superb. The room was spacious, comfortable and very clean. The hotel facilities were attractive. Possibly the hot food at breakfast time could have been cooked less far in advance. The rest of the food was nice, with a good choice.
Great Swimming Pool and nice Seafront Location The Food was copious but boring
food in restaurant, staff helpfulness, location for places of interset e.g. braga national parks. They even improved the weather!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good location, more comfortable than your average three star resort hotel, polite attentive staff In the very nice smart restaurant you will get highly attentive service, but dinner may be a gamble. My fillet steak was as tough as old boots and the salad was absurdly overdressed. Consider going out for supper. The breakfast, however, was fine.
We really enjoyed our view of the ocean and walking on the beach, which is a short stroll from the hotel. Our room was large and comfortable, as were the public spaces.
Very friendly, helpful staff. Clean hotel, well positioned for exploring northern Portugal. Pool area was attractive and there was a good play area for children. The town was traditional and local people were friendly. Location on esplanade was good for sea views. It suited our needs perfectly as a clean, quiet and safe location where we could base ourselves. Parking was easy.
I like the staff, the building, the location... The bed could be more confortable, the matress is not that great. breakfast could be improved and a swimming pool would really add to this beaultiful property.
Breakfast above average, ambiance enchanting, near to shopping, staff friendly and helpful, everyone spoke english. The mattress was a bit hard for our taste.
The staff were attentive and very friendly, the hotel has great style and atmosphere. The foos was very good.
The Restaurant/Chef/Waiters - very charming. Receptionists - extremely helpful The pillows - just too full your head slipped off them!
Friendly and informative staff, nice historical setting, easy walking distance to main points of interest The breakfast is not 5*, Ibis offer better, the fruit was not fresh and neither was the juice and nothing hot on offer you have to order which saves on costs for the hotel but puts people off due to the wait, the hotel is located on a main junction so ask for a quiet room if you do not want to be woken early by passing traffic
The fact it was an historical house only that during my stay there were constructions nearby that were noisy in the morning
The town centre location; friendly and obliging staff, very clever mix of ancient and modern in the design, excellent food Harsh lighting in the bathroom (but this is being picky!)
The location of this hotel is ideal if like us you plan to use public transport. Both train and bus stations are close by. The hotel is also very convenient for the old town, theatre and river Lima. Although centrally located the hotel is quiet and relaxing, has a well kept garden terrace area and is beautifully decorated throughout. All the reception staff spoke English and were very polite and helpful. The inclusive breakfast was very good with both cooked and continental on offer. None to mention
Stylish old town house in beautiful Viana, very nice combination of the old & the new
everything except (see next point) the horrible elevator music in Restaurant/Breakfast room
The hotel staff was very friendly, good breakfast. The hotel was an antique convent, which makes an interesting environment. We did not use all of the facilities, which are plenty, only the pool and jacuzzi. Rooms could be updated, the furniture and bathroom are not modern, our closet was huge and next to the desk, blocking one of the doors. The TV is on the desk which leaves very little space for the use of a laptop, for example. The tv could be tuned better, the image was out of focus in some channels, although it had SporTV. Be aware of the garage doors in the indoor parking, they can be very tricky. The pool wasn't warm enough (for me, but that can be just me); the jacuzzi's water were somewhat not very clear (a little greenish), not very inviting, although it worked fine.
Everything was just perfect
The location is excellent.
The breakfast was delightful. The hotel was fairly quiet. Our room was located in a corner and we could see right into the window next to ours so we had to keep our curtains drawn - I would have liked to enjoy the view. The elevators were intimidating with the "jumps" they made. GPS coordinates would have helped to find the hotel.
Wonderful views, excellent staff, great location. All in all an excellent hotel. Everyone in our party was impressed
The location was great although finding the hotel proved challenging. The triple room was very spacious and clean. The staff, especially at the front desk were very friendly. We booked this spa hotel in anticipation of enjoying a massage after finishing the Camino de Santiago. We made appointments for the evening we arrived but then discovered that there was no one available to provide a massage that evening. The spa desk then suggested we use the Jacuzzi instead. Unfortunately after purchasing swim caps we discovered the Jacuzzi wasn't working. A big disappointment to say the least. Fortunately the hotel refunded the cost of the swim caps. Really would have liked a massage though.
Ambience and character of a converted convent Service in bar sporadic; breakfast solid but uninspired
Particularly the pleasant, friendly and helpful staff. The rooms were excellent, the food in the dining room very good, and the outdoor pool was great. The hotel was generally very clean. Slightly disappointed by the indoor pool – too warm and the water seemed rather cloudy.
Very nicely situated over the city of Braga.
The location is excellent, and the tennis and soccer fields made me wish I was there longer Unfortunately it was a bit noisy at night due to cars racing in the hotel's vicinity. Nothing they can do about that, though, I assume.
