When you stay at Aux Délices d'Excideuil in Excideuil, you'll be 14 minutes by car from Nanthiat Castle.
Pros: We recommend this B&B without question and hope to return once more. The home is charming, so very comfortable and beautifully appointed. Francoise and Bart welcomed us with an open and warm style and prepared a dinner one might expect at a four star restaurant. They accommodated our schedules, ensured that we had whatever we needed when we needed it, and were sensitive to our desires for private time as well. We changed our sightseeing plans using their ideas and were so glad we did. We rate the home, the food, the location and in particular, the hosts a ten +++!
Pros: Lovely B&B, beautiful garden, large comfortable rooms and friendly hosts. The breakfasts and evening meals were fantastic.
Pros: After having a look at the reviews of Aux Délices d'Excideuil I decided to visit Excideuil on my cycling trip in September. When I arrived Françoise and Bart welcomed me warmly. We had a glass of wine and chatted in the beautiful inner courtyard. Fran’s and Bart’s home – an 220 year old house in the centre of Excideuil - is beautiful and it is restored with respect for the old building. It was already off-season and I was the only guest on that particular night. I was able to choose from the rooms available. I selected a room with traditional style furnishing, window opening to the courtyard. The room was spacious and lovely, even with a hint of luxury. The delicious dinner was served at the courtyard where Françoise and Bart joined me. We spent the evening chatting and having some tasty wine. Delicious breakfast was comprehensive, and as a specialty it included a large variety of homemade jams. I had such a lovely stay at Aux Délices d'Excideuil where Fran and Bart made me feel like a special guest. They are wonderful hosts, and the old house with courtyard and garden is simply charming.
Pros: The dinner we had on the first night was to die for. The rooms were large and we were in love with the gardens. The breakfast each morning was a beautiful touch. Our hosts looked after us very well.
Pros: I had the pleasure of stay with Bart and Françoise for 5 days as i was attending a wedding near by. i had just a perfect stay, i ate in the evenings 3 times. Bart is a exceptional chief. the meals where truely exceptional. Françoise makes her own jams from the garden, these where also delicious. its such a magicial place. they've lovelily restored the house and it's beautiful. they have fantastic taste and style.
Cons: Bart and Françoise where both very helpful. getting me to and from the train station, they have perfect english. they helped my friends and i get to the wedding, got dry cleaning done and even ironed a shirt. they went above and beyond to help us. The Garden is just a beautiful place to spend time in.
Pros: We are grateful to Bart and Francoise, what a superb place, hospitality, cooking, setting….so sweet. Breakfast was amazing, lovely homemade jams in the well tended, happy garden. Church bells ringing. Helpful advice on touring the area. This place is a gem!
Pros: Wonderful hosts, beautiful home & garden, excellent meals!
Cons: Process would be much easier for travelers if they accepted credit cards.
Pros: Francoise and Bart were very charming and excellent hosts. We enjoyed drinks and dinner in the pretty courtyard. Bedroom and bathroom were very well equipped and comfortable. Delicious breakfasts.
Pros: Aux Delices dÉxcideuil is the most delightful place to stay. The house is beautiful and the garden is a charming place to relax. Bart and Francoise could not have been more helpful. I would highly recommend it.
Pros: Extremely friendly and helpful.
When you stay at this cottage in Sarlande, you'll be within the vicinity of Jumillac Castle.
Pros: Everything, superb host, stunning location, wonderful chilled environment.
Cons: Nothing, Nelly was absolutely delightful.
Pros: Location, gorgeous pool, really comfy bed, French press in the room, beautiful interior design, lovely breakfast. Great hospitality.
Cons: Wi-fi went down but not a deal breaker.
Pros: Everything! The hosts were very friendly, location was fantastic and the pool was simply amazing! You need a car to get to the remote location but this should not prevent you from experiencing a fantastic stay!
Cons: It was all good- perhaps could have supplied another reading lamp in the bigger bedroom.
Pros: We booked this at short notice and didn’t really do the homework. It is isolated so if you’re self catering then buy en route. They do evening meals and we opted for this and we can recommend it a 3 course dinner with wine for 25e a head. Lunch can also be provided. All our meals were healthy, fresh and tasty. Most of the salad stuff is home grown. The couple, Nelly and Cedric (plus their 5 month old son, Valentine) - make perfect hosts. Nelly speaks excellent English so no problems for uk clients. She is also fluent in Polish and French. Dining is outside or inside. We chose outside under the shade of the trees for all meals. A great experience. The house is set in about 2 acres or thereabouts. The lawns are mown and the site is level. This was great for us as Paula was recovering from a heart attack 3 months previously. Only step is the small one into the shower. The room was very cool being a barn conversion with thick walls. Access is via two french doors. There is a small courtyard that is shady in the afternoon. Exposed stonework and quaint and quirky furnishings- nothing matches - and the artworks are lovely. Shower is good and the bed is very comfortable too. The pool is brilliant and crystal clear. We spent a fair bit if time sunbathing on the wooden loungers and shaded by umbrellas. Did I mention that there is a tightrope too? The ambience here is great- so good that we wanted to stay a further 2 nights but could they only provide us with one. This place is brilliant. If you were travelling through with children then two nights were would certainly break up the journey. The pool is covered and closed off in the evening so safety is high on the list. A Belgian family had been there for two weeks staying in the gite. They couldn’t praise their hosts or accommodation highly enough. The rules here are please respect your neighbours and being quiet is encouraged and it works.
Cons: We thought the whole experience was great and had no issues or problems.

Pros: Stunning location and estate , our apartment was excellent
Cons: It was perfect to relax the staff were fantastic and very helpful going above and beyond normal service levels . A real pleasure ..
Pros: Everything else - excellent service in a beautiful location
Cons: No way of making a drink in the room
Pros: Beautiful enormous estate with old and new chateau and golf course and friendly staff
Cons: All the buildings were a long distance from each other and difficult to locate the correct one. Good if you need the exercise. Bad if it is cold and raining.
Pros: The family is working as a team and very friendly Beautiful place for relaxing
Pros: The property was stunningly beautiful!
Cons: The dinner is not a la carte, but daily theme.
Pros: A wonderful, stunningly beautiful location. Quite exceptional! Very friendly, helpful staff, especially the family who own the Domaine.
Cons: The studio furnishings were a little tired
Pros: Location close to friends we were visiting. Spectacular buildings and a lovely setting. Staff very friendly when there are any to be found. Staff flexible and arranged an early breakfast on request. Golf course on site.
Cons: Restaurant was closed for our four day stay, bar closed at 6pm every day. No staff on site after 6pm. Minimum 15 mins drive to find anything open to get food or drink. Clearly only geared up for large groups and functions which is not entirely clear from the website. Golf course was in very poor condition - looks great from a distance but fairways hadn't been cut for many days and lots of problems with the greens.
Housed in a 19th-century stone building, this hotel is located in the village of Sarlande, in the heart of the Périgord Vert countryside. If offers a bar and a restaurant serving traditional French dishes. With views of the garden, rooms at Relais de Sarlande are simply furnished and equipped with a TV. Each room offers an en suite bathroom with a bathtub or shower and complimentary toiletries. Upon request, a continental breakfast can be enjoyed each morning in guests’ rooms. For the other meals, guests are invited to dine in the restaurant offering specialities from the region, or on the terrace when the weather is nice. With free private parking available on site, the hotel is located 9.5 km from Rouffiac Lake. Limoges is situated 54 km from the hotel.
Cons: It was in the middle of nowhere the nearest shop was 5km away. The hotel reception and restaurant were dirty and a mess. The room was clean but the linen and towels smelled like badly washed clothes left in washing machine for days. The shower flooded. There was a little cupboard falling apart but we couldn’t hang anything because there were no hangers. The breakfast was €7 and included a croissant with jam, bread I think orange juice and maybe a coffee.
Pros: Nicely restored building next to the church in a peaceful village. Bedroom well decorated with attractive bed linen to match Excellent breakfast with beautifully fresh croissants, pain au chocolat and baguette
Cons: If I had known the hotel and Relais were one we would have found it faster - drove past the hotel sign!!
Pros: The owners were very helpful and attentive. It was nearly 40°C (the tarmac outside was melting!) and the stone walls made the room unbearably hot. There was no fan so as soon as they'd finished serving, the owner brought us the tower fan from the restaurant for the night. We had a lovely 4-course evening meal for €20 (with several choices ) and the continental breakfast was exceptional with high quality produce.
Cons: There was quite a unpleasant 'drain' smell coming from the shower but it was so hot we figured the 'trap' must have dried out & ran the shower for a bit.
Pros: Excellent breakfast, attentive service, and great view from the restaurant. The room facilities were basic but serviced our essential needs. The bed was comfortable and gave a good night's sleep.
Cons: Whilst not a problem for me, as I was able to recall my schoolboy French, just be aware that you need to have a basic ability to converse with the host in French, as English was not spoken at all ;)
Pros: Alin and Daria where the perfect host: friendly, ready to help at any moment, happy to offer everything you need. We where lucky to meet them and to stay at Le Relais de Sarlande. I recommend them to everybody.
Pros: Owners could not do enough for you and made sure you enjoyed everything. The food was very good and reasonable price . They deserve to do well thankyou
Cons: No negative points
Pros: good food very friendly and helpful very good for a disabled person easy parking good surroundings
Cons: to many little jobs not done ,loose toilet seats ,blocked shower traps ,flush handles broken, door locks needed attention.small things that add up to be a distraction on your holiday
