Excellent staff. Very attentive. Good size comfortable room. No food after 9:00pm. Room too hot even with window wide open.
the atmosphere, the people where very nice.rooms were exellent, also the pub.and the town was nice
We had a superiour double room and it was fab, it was like having a small apartment to ourselves. The room was clean and well presented with everthing we needed. Staff were friendly. Breakfast was great with a really good selection to choose from. There was a large car park so parking is not a problem. Was not able to spend more time there.
Very friendly welcoming staff, excellent food and good ambience
the room was clean and comfortable and the breakfast was very nice
Location to my business
Friendly and very helpful staff. The relaxed atmosphere in the bar/dining area. The size of the double bed in room 8. The hotel is situated on the main road through the village which got noisy quite early in the morning.
It was an excellent place to explore historic Thaxted from whence my mother and her family came. The restaurant menu was a bit restricted for someone on a renal diet.
not much really room very cramped poor breakfast arrangements
To much road noise
Good food and excellant service.
clean and comfortable room, nice pub downstairs I hit my head quite painfully. But that was my own fault ;)
The lady on reception was very good During the evenining the guy behind the bar obviously had a problem about something, we heard him swearing then he went outside and had 2 cigarettes. Later that evening the bar was very busy and the same guy said he could not serve me because there were no glasses. I stood there waiting, he then said to me why are you staring at me I have already told you I have np glasses. Another member of staff came over and served me, no problems. He spoilt was was a good stay at the Bull.
Not Much to like. Karoke on a Sunday night until about 1am on Monday morning. Could not park my car, could not get to my room, could not get to sleep.
Helpfulness of the staff in providing a heater for my room, breakfast was good Room a little chilly - particularly the ensuite
the staff were great and great food we were quoted £39 online but at check out payed £55
The food was terrific, great value for money, lovely location, and contrary to previous comments - there is a car park! Some staff were V.unfriendly, bathrooms dated with no shower curtain and no frosted glass/curtains over window!
Central location in small town. Very quaint. Staff very helpful when asked for local advice on shopping and transport on to a wedding we were attending nearby -we asked about taxis and within a couple of minutes Chris came back and said taxi booked and would collect us from back door car park. Also said no problem for us to sit and have coffee while we waited.
Very relaxed atmosphere Noisy disco (?)
Staff were really helpful and friendly- great breakfast options :) Picky yes, but I would have liked a proper shower. Couldn't get the attachment on the bath to a decent temperature.
Location Room over the High Street, too much noise!
the decor of rooms noise outside at night
Nice Helpful Staff, nice clean enviroment Menu choise a bit limited,
Well, It is the first time I live in a hotel with almost 500 years history. The room is a little small...
It was comfortable and warm. It was extremely noisey on a Monday evening because of a regular band practice. No one was made aware of this. It was so loud that you couldn't stay in your room because of the noise and vibration.
The old fashioned style and age of the surroundings. The Ghost waking us up.
It's location, it is on the high street and could not possibly be any closer to town even if they tried! Nothing
Price, breakfast Noise
There was no hot water in the shower
The friendliness of the manager and the location of hotel were excellent
Landlord was very friendly and helpful - breakfast was amazing - delightfully offbeat but wonderful experience - would recommend to anyone who was open to something a bit different. Room was a tad small by Australian standards but not by English ones. Linen and towels were clean as was room.
Dirty , room lacked essentials, very grotty place as a whole Dirty room lacked essentials very grotty place
The landlord was very friendly and made me most welcome. The room was not particularly clean. I did not feel it had been properly prepared; little things like the toilet roll only being about a quarter left. The shower was also barely better than a trickle
Worst hotel I have stayed in, please avoid. Room was filthy, bed very uncomfortable, shower fittings hanging off the wall. I do not usually write reviews, but please avoid.
Nice and quiet, friendly area Bathroom a bit small
Was treated with very good maner room was nice overall very good value None
Good camra pub with very friendly staff and owner. Good breakfast. Bed was most uncomfortable & lumpy !
I received a very good welcome on arrival. Staff were attentive and courteous. Rooms and setting very pleasant. Breakfast excellent
The friendliness, the food, the room were all excellent. We really enjoyed our stay and intend going back. Definitely no complaints
comfort, cleanliness and personal service. Excelent home cooked breakfast with local produce
the food was very good.the service was excellent .Would stay there again.
The staff were very friendly and helpful, the room spotlessly clean and the food - well absolutely delicious. We had a very relaxing break. No
Restaurant and room very comfortable. Bathroom good size. Owner and staff very friendly. Food delicious. Restaurant and room spotlessly clean. Tea & coffee facilities more than adequate.
Overall impression, very clean, good order. Staff very friendly & helpful despite family health concerns.Food very good. Requested a twin room. Told on arrival this was not available. Double bed offered was a little small for Grandmother & Granddaughter.
The whole experience from booking to saying goodbye couldn't have been better. The staff were all so friendly and accomadating,oh and the food....wow! Only that we had to leave!
The warm welcome from the owner. The spacious and comfortable bedroom with wi-fi if required. Extras like a cafetiere and bottled water. The delicious breakfast cooked by the owner/chef. Maybe a personal preference but the bathroom had a corner jacuzzi bath and I would have preferred a large walk-in shower.
The staff were all friendly and polite and willing to go out of their way to help. The room was modern and clean. Food in the restaurant was lovely. The sink in the bathroom had a shelf directly above making it difficult to use. The milk at breakfast was off to the extent that it was lumpy.
Very friendly and helpful staff, Rooms in an adjoining converted building were unassuming but perfectly adequate and clean and tidy. Good breakfast very reasonable price we decided to stay an extra night. The hotel has won many awards which are well deserved. We were disappointed with the a la carte dinner.Portions we felt were modest and with most main course options a vegitable selection was extra.
I had booked a twin and a double room, and was actually allocated two double rooms which wasn't suitable. Breakfast selection was not as suggested on menu. Sound proofing of rooms was very poor.
Friendly, reasonable rate, modern room, traditional hotel, nice toiletries in room, great manager (Hayley), good shower, lovely food for dinner, free mini pudding! chilly in room, stained sheet, no hairdryer (provided when requested), TV reception sporadic, TV at an immovable angle to the bed, very bad sound proofing
I booked a single room and was upgraded to a really super double. The staff were very pleasant. I would be very happy to stay again. Bar price and restaurant very expensive.
Very pleasant staff and room quiet and comfortable. Highly recommended
Staff very friendly ans a lovely looking place very homely feel to the bar. There were stains on the bed sheets that when you consider it was the honeymmon suite (friends swapped rooms with us as it was our wedding night) was a very discusting thing! We had to get some towels to pull off hte covers as we refused to sleep on that!!!! The shower leaked too which meant that my husband fell over on the wet floor in the morning because he hadn't realised!!!
Friendly young staff, clean bedroom, very nice b&b
I would like to say that this was the best guest house experience I have had in ages, the staff are the friendliest and polite I have ever meet, well done to all the staff at The White Hart Guest House. No are no bad points to say about this Guest House
Clean friendly No soundproofing whatsoever between connecting room
The staff were friendly and helpful. the breakfast was cooked lovely and the pub itself was very nice. The room was extremely basic and plain looking without even a little table to put the tea making facilities on, they were on the floor. and some childrens old shoes in the wardrobe !! All the doors into our room, the corridor and toilet creaked badly - needed greasing.
our en-suite room was huge with fantastic windows and with a great view of the market area. the bathroom could do with a wee bit of titivating e.g.no towel rail, bath was o.k. but there was more than enough room for a shower which would have been handy.
very nice full english and helpful staff the toilet not being ensuite was a bit of a minus for the hotel but it is shared between 2/3 rooms only.. and the car park was hard to find in the one- way system !!
It was clean Sunday am breakfast served too early 7-8am
Central to town, good full english breakfast, comfortable and value for money. Unsuitable for elderly or disabled, no lift and stairs are steep. A bit noisy at night because over a public house. In market square, so be aware stalls are set up in the morning outside the hotel as early as 6am.
Comfortable room, spotlessly clean. Nice bar/restaurant room. Stair carpet was filthy - and seems to have been like that for a while. Breakfast was disappointing, in particular the attitude of the lady cooking / serving. We felt we were intruding on her day.
The hotel is very nice, and also Jackie and her sister let you fill immediately like at home. This is the right place were stay after a long day of work...
Excellent welcome by all. Food, room and atmosphere very friendly and relaxing. We knew the area but would not eat anywhere else after first night in the restraurant. Had to wait for the Toad in the Hole, but well worth the wait. Should be a 5 Star rated country hotel. Used to be in the tourist business in Devon. Excellent standards. Only one comment. The water pressure in the shower. Experienced this in my own holiday park in Devon. Need to have a water pump installed to equal out the pressure.
Lovely hotel in nice location, staff were very helpful at all times, food good We were in a lovely room but there was a constant humming noise coming from behind the wall next to the bathroom (sounded like a pump of some sort!)This went on through the night which was very annoying. Also on last morning my pot of butter actually smelled of garlic! Obviously it had garlic in the night before but thought they should have checked this as it totally put me off my toast!
Atmosphere created by a 15th/16th Century inn - not too sophisticated, but comfortable. Menu was limited oin second night by "off" dishes.
Staff very helpful. Room was very clean and good value for price paid Outside area could have been cleaned and more could be done with the bar and outside areas to compete with the Crown accross the road !!!
Excellent hotel in fine location very enjoyable weekend. At good value.
we were made very welcome right from start..all the staff were very friendly, and happy.they gave us info on places to go nearby.. nothing that we did not like..
Very friendly staff, good food, excellent value for money
All staff and food where very good and very friendly we had a very nice stay
