Enjoyed my stay and the food was excellent nice room
breakfast excellent no
this is a very laid back friendly hotel offering good value for money. The meals were quite good and quite fairly priced. The location is a away from shopping areas, but on the plus side there is free parking. This service was a little on the slow side
Excellent hotel, friendly staff, good breakfast would definately use this hotel when we visit edinburgh again
Allocated to a ground floor room was an unforseen bonus as my wife has back problems.
Friendly staff.Good sized room.Comfy bed. Shower was poor, just two rubber hoses off taps and no shower curtain.Had to kneel in bath to shower.
The staff were very relaxed and friendly, but also very efficient - particularly the service at breakfast
Friendly staff. Great setting. Really does need a refurbishment or at least re-decorate. Didn't like the broken furniture and light fittings and missing curtains. There is no need for this.
Location. Very friendly staff. Nicely decorated. Very comfortable. Very quiet. Excellent value. Very hard pillow.
room was large and nice. staff were very helpful and kind. location only, otherwise wveruthing was ok
Very welcoming staff Rooms not very well insulated from noise inside hotel.
Clean rooms, close to Grassmarket, Princes Street...
Comfortable bed, clean room, good shower. Bathroom door didn't close properly or lock, and there was a fair bit of noise.
It was clean & tidy, the breakfasts were good & it was handy to the bus routes into town & out to the airport. we would have preferred to check in before 2pm,although to be fair we didnt request this.
nice clean comfortable room with large bathroom not a very powerful shower
The staff were great, warm and friendly and the facilities just fine for the price paid! The TV control was bust! (room 7)
The Ardmillan was conveniently located for our visit to our daughter. Also, it was a good bargain, it worked out to 56 pounds a night. The cooked breakfast was very good. The en suite bathroom was tiny and awkward, and although I expect small bathrooms in converted houses, this bathroom was the most awkward I've seen.
Nice and friendly No bad points
The staff were friendly and helpful. They allocated an "upgraded" double room ensuite when they discovered that my booking had not been noted in their paper diary. The breakfast was great. None - it was as advertised
The bed was comfortable, and the bedroom was clean. Our room was directly over the bar, but it was not noisy. The three members of staff we met were friendly. The bathroom smelt faintly of sewage – possibly because the toilet had a macerator. The sink and mirror were positioned in a corner so tight that you couldn't really stand in front of them unless you were Twiggy. The radiator was full on, and could not be turned off. It was a problem the barmaid was already aware of when we mentioned it to her in the evening, but nothing had been done to rectify it. Her solution was to open the window wide. When we tried opening the left-hand sash window, it turned out to be rotten on one side and we were lucky that it didn't fall out. The right-hand window opened satisfactorily – but it meant that the traffic noise from the street outside was quite intrusive. The tv was tiny and none of the channels was properly tuned. The barmaid tried to improve the reception, without much success. Finally - and I really don't mean to carp – I cannot understand why hotels provide a ration of just two teabags per person per night. It is not as if teabags are expensive. If you advertise that there are tea- and coffee-making facilities in the room, you should provide a reasonable supply of tea and coffee.
