An efficient and friendly reception. Good views from Hotel balcony over street & hills/mountains. Good bathroom.
Hotel staff extremely friendly and food basic french cuisine but very good
Very helpful and friendly staff. good breakfast fair rooms. Got a bit warm in the night.
Excellent value for money Excellent buffet style eating. Catered for non meat eater in our party Free parking opposite hotel The booking confirmation said that the double room could be a twin or double and that we should specify which on the booking form. Too late (and wasn't an option), but a phone call to the hotel clarified our requirements
The food waS very good
Clean, comfortable and friendly staff Absence of bath but excellent shower
1. The staff was very helpful and hospitable 2. The meals were excellent 3. the Hotel is very well situated 1. The bed was too soft 2. the window shutter did not close fully 3. Shower / Tap mechanism faulty 4. nowhere to hang the shower nozzle whilst showering
Good location of the hotel in the town center and near the Municipal Park, despite location on the main street pleasantly quiet, excellent value for money. Le Mont Dore is a beautiful spa town with nice landscape and proximity of hiking trails.
Central location. Staff very friendly. Parking on the road - payant 7-12
Clean, Modern, Excellent Food A Hotel of this size should have laundry facilities
Location is good, the town pleasant but we were out of season. The pool is too small to swim in, it has a jacuzzi in it but it's not warm enough to be relaxing, the building and grounds could do with some attention. Overall the stay was disappointing
Excellent location in the heart of the Auvergne area, in the cute town of St. Nectaire. Very nice facilities, including indoor and outdoor pool, and a wonderful garden. Not sure why this hotel advertises for access to wireless internet, and then wants you to pay ridiculous amounts to actually provide that service. The afternoon/evening reception staff needs coaching on his attitude that transpires condenscendence rather than hospitality. The morning staff is very friendly indeed, but requires coaching on technical functions like payment by credit card and ....the wireless service.
Good size comfortable bed. Peaceful surroundings.
good breakfast.....restruant staff..........relaxing Reception staff not advisory.....corporate
Location and facilities
The facillites, the service, and value for money
Comfortable bed, swimming pool, quiet location We were given a fairly stern lecture on what is not allowed in the hotel on arrival - which was very unwelcoming. No kettle/drinks facilities in the room.
Very impressed with helpfulness and friendliness of hotel staff
Friendliness of staff, food. We felt very comfortable.
Comfortable room, quiet location though near village centre, good on road parking.
We had a really pleasent stay and the staff were very friendly and helpful.
Well located. Had a nice "Aviation" theme to it but still very traditional French underneath it all, including the decor (ie not necessarily UK taste). Food at dinner was acceptable and good value in comparison to the other restaurants in town. La Bourboule has the air of a town marching slowly to its death, with many hotels closed over the last 10 years and some much more recently, including 2 in the small street occupied by the "Aviation". This is not untypical of France though. Good little pool in the basement. Has a garage. Breakfast was rushed by the hotelier taking the food away before we had time to finish. Granted this was because it was getting near to 0930hrs, but we weren't asked if we wanted more before the food was removed. Hotel good for families.
Enjoyed staying there, and children had fun in the pool. Decoration was a little tired in the rooms, but otherwise not bad.
The pool was excellent and available until late. As a family they were very helpful and the breakfast was excellent.
Clean and nice owners, easy to find, very helpful
warm and freindly
There were no surprises, We got what we expected and what was offered on the website. Position in town was good and there was no problem parking at this time of year. The hosts were welcoming and friendly. Since the change of law with regard to smoking in France it has taken a while for the smell of smoke to disappear.
Nice staff, clean room It was a bad breakfast for the price, no real coffee. One does not pay 7 euro or was it 8 for instant coffee from a machine had I known I would have not taken the breakfast
The city and area
The room was very small and grotty.
This was good value for money and more than adequate It was a little bit noisy there was a low level humming sound from something in the hotel during the night
Beautiful location for this traditional French Hotel. A great stop-over for our journey to the Canal du Midi in the south of france.
Very friendly reception staff; good, well-priced food; reasonably sized room with comfortable bed; excellent value for money. Overall St-Nectaire is a very pleasant village to visit, and this hotel is highly recommended as a base to visit it from.
Staff were terrific. Nice central location. Public areas of the hotel were exquisite. Do I lose Man Points for writing "exquisite" ?? Parking was a bit of a nightmare and not clearly signposted. We struggled for a good 30 minutes going round and round. To their credit the hotel comped us the parking. Cuneo as a town was a bit empty. It had promise. Same with the hotel. Lobby and staff are great, the rooms fine but a bit outdated.
Rather noisy at night having room on the main road.
Very friendly, family run. Fantastic food on the half-board. Secure parking and secluded outdoor pool, all well signed. None
nothing at all it was horrible and priced way over the top for this cheap hotel misserable decoration extremely small en suite facillitiesdrab room poor poor value
Very friendly staff and good service and food Room very small and cramped - could supply a fan in hot weather.
Regional food with a large enough menu for several nights stay. Quiet location, though still convenient for access to all roads. Parking is provided in a secure area and is free. Room was on the small side for a three night stay.
location was right in town, good walking access to the main street. Excellent free secure parking.
Hotel was clean, warm and comfortable with friendly staff and a good restaurant. It was nice and close for our skiing.
Indoor swimming pool (small) and jacuzzi. Noise tight windows. Located across the river of an amazing creperie (La Guinguette). Very small room. Bathroom needs a renovation (eg. loose slide bar in the shower). Only basic breakfast buffet.
Needed seperate towels for the pool
Excellent food. Superb menus and attentive service.
The room was very clean and tasefully decorated and quiet The food I.E. dinner was a bit disappointing, also the breakfast was not value for money and very little effort was put into it only croissants and bread no cheese (extra) laughing cow or other would have been good also yogurtI know it was out of season but a bit more effort would have been not a lot of trouble
Quality of food Unable to process our credit cards (two couples, two cards)
Service in the reception was very good and we got an impression it was a very nice and clean hotel. Zero.
Warm friendly welcome. Excellent food at breakfast and dinner. Fantastic central location. Free skibus was a real bonus. Will definitely use this hotel again. We opted for a duplex room to sleep six, one bathroom was a bit restrictive particularly when we all came off the ski slopes together.
A very reasonably priced hotel in an interesting town in a wonderful area Missing a shower in the bathroom
Found the staff to be hospitable and very helpful. I particularly appreciated the indoor swimming pool
The Hotel was clean and well maintained and the staff were helpful and welcoming. The location was very good with attractive gardens and on site parking. We used the hotel for an overnight stop and did not use the swimming pool or restaurant. The breakfast was adequate but the range of food offered was limited and in our opinion not worth 9 euros compared to what is on offer elsewhere in French hotels we have stayed at.
Very helpful as we were a group of motorcyclists from different European countries. Excellent half board meal and breakfast nice simple room very comfortable nice location.
Spaceous, clean, centrally located, - excellent base for exploring the town and with the sound of the Dordogne river in your room. Not fancy but absolutely fine.
The spa was great, convenient for Mount Dore sking, staff relaxed. English speaking and instructions on the hotel in English.
everything.what a nice little hotel in the town of la bourboule.all they wanted to do was please, nothing would have been to much for them
Very clean, plenty of room for a family. No staff on arrival at check in. This was fine except that there was no way of getting into the car park. The threats to charge a large cleaning fee if the room wasn't left spotless were rather draconian!
Incredibly friendly and helpful staff
The rooms were exceptionally clean as were the leisure facilities. The car park worked on a security gate at the rear of the hotel and was easily accessible to unload ski equipment at the end of the day. Just a tip...if you go in Feb half term consider driving up to the slopes to ski as the free bus is absolutely packed and there were almost riotous moments as everyone crammed to get in with no queing system. The last return bus from Le Mont Dore every day is horrendous to try to get on although they do send another one up if people are still waiting. Also book your ski hire prior to travelling if you are going to hire it at the top of the resort. La Godille is the ski shop close to the bus stop and ski school. If you leave it to late they actually run out of equipment. If staying in La Bourboule then Sun & Ski in the town is your best option and far less crowded. In addition if you get to the slope on the Sunday, that is the first day of the ski school and the queing is diabolical for ski passes and ski school. Book ski school in advance as you may find all the classes full. Sometimes we queued for up to an hour for some of the lower slope lifts. a fantastic resort for beginners but do yourself a favour and don't go in school holidays!!!!!
Good location and plenty of parking
Our room was warm, quiet and comfortable, with lots of space to spread out and very well decorated. The staff were very friendly, and the hotel is located very close to all of the major attractions in La Bourboule The car park wasn't as large as the hotel claimed, although this wasn't really a concern for us as there were very few people staying in the hotel.
The 'Bell epoch' appeal and its position in the town centre, my room overlooking the back/garden/wood/hills was very quiet - able to have window open at night without any disturbance. Nicely surprised by the size/ standard and facilities of the room. The flat screen T.V. was amazing - see negative comments. Madam is quiet charming - but see negative comments below. No air con (though as the town is relatively high this might not be a problem) but a few days earlier Southern France was registering 33-34 on the plains. Thought the Breakfast was overpriced but they did have real filter coffee - not out of some glorious multi miss-functional machine. Warning, though Madam spoke English most of the staff were French only speakers as you would expect. Re Flat screen T.V./computer, as a computer literate person with a range of 'hi-tec' products I was completely puzzled by the facilities on the integral T.V. computer as there was no instructions in any language - so leave an hour before wanting to watch something to get your head round the controls.
Friendly staff, overall atmosphere was good. Staff put themselves out to accommodate my request for specially early breakfast. Car parking was restricted. One reason this hotel was chosen was WiFi facility but this was not available! Manager let me use her computer once to check my email but I was very disappointed not to have this facility in my room as advertised. It was difficult to book an evening meal as every time I asked I was too late. More flexibility in this respect would pay dividends.
Staff very friendly and helpful. Access to restaurants and shops very good.Hotel warm and comfortable and very well run.
The room was clean and the food very good.
Good free internet connection, easy to park, small shower, expensive breakfast 9 euros each
Very good dinner Tea/coffee making in room would have been nice
The very warm welcome by the Dutch owner, excellent meal provided even though we were a little late, and extrremely comfortable beds with excellent quality linen. The bathroom was modern and it was all very clean. Very quiet for sleeping. Many jovial Dutch tourists were staying.Free car parking. The restaurant closes early (8.p.m.) which almost meant we were too late for dinner as we had assumed it would be open until 9.0 p.m. as in most French hotels. The menu is rather retrictive if you dont want the heavy Auvergne dishes. Hotel little bit difficult to find as it is out of St. Nectaire.
Very friendly Dutch owner who spoke perfect English. Tasty traditional food from the region at a reasonable price. Comfortable double room with adjoining twin.
Really enjoyed the friendly welcome from the dutch owner and the nice familly room. Really convenient privat (gratis) parking. Don't hesitate to go for the daily menu and the house wine
Warm welcome, help with bags, typical small French hotel style. Terrace at front for drinks. Very good value. Breakfast was very good buffet. Huge, almost dangerous step up into shower. Very sensitive shower valve - difficult to set water temperature. Set evening menu was good but just lacked a little style in the presentation.
Friendly atmosphere; owner spoke a wide range of european languages fluently and was very accommodating. En-suites quite small and restrictive
The hotel was close to the centre of town without being right in it. We had a very pleasant view of the mountains and waterfall. The hotel was old and shabby and over priced. It did not reflect the pictures on the website. During a very warm time of year, 30 degrees and no airconditioning or cooling provided it was innappropriate to be given a thick winter duvet and no top sheet on our bed. Staff were not friendly or helpful. We seemed to be only two of four people staying at the hotel.
Staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was excellent Rooms were a bit cold, both temperature wise and comfort wise. Thought the price was a bit high for a 3 star.
The setting of the hotel was impressive, surrounded by beautiful mountain scenery. The staff were efficient and accomodating. The hotel food was good quality. Our room and bathroom were clean and comfortable but rather tired, in need of updating. My main concern was that we were in a family room on the fourth floor and the window had no catch on it to prevent our two year old from opening it and climbing out.
convenient for a 1 night stoppover. would be excellent as a base for a walking holiday with fantastic countryside around it. Very much a ski type holiday hotel The overuse of pine can be a bit overpowering
Not a lot really I booked this hotel as a romantic overnight stop on our way back to Calais from a week further south. We normally stay in budget hotels for this purpose eg. Etap, which are what they are, but, as my wife has recently been diagnosed with a serious illness we decided to pay a bit more. Simply, the hotel was very shabby, dingy and dark and needs a good lick of paint. It was very poor value for money with disinterested staff; all very disapointing. I would also say that the picture and other info on the website suggests that this is a pretty and secluded place. Be assured it is not. The photos are a good exapmple of the photographers art namely to make something rather sad look good. Stayed in a total of 4 hotels on this holiday and a cottage. This was by far and away the worst accomodation and certainly not the cheapest. My advice; find somewhere else!
Very enjoyable stay with excellent food and very friendly staff None
Helpful staff Entertainer came into hotel evening meal and begged for money for performing - should be paid by hotel or not let in at all
Location, room size, good fittings, nice staff, and none of that feeling of simply being a chain hotel. Dinner was finished by 2015, not always convenient, when we holiday we often like to eat later. No english tv channels (how much does a sat dish cost?)
the lovely view evening meal not to our taste
Friendly staff, the location is stunning interior a little dated (wood panels)
Countryside views and location near village of Besse excellent. The restaurant food is excellent but limited to one of two fixed menu'S. More than three days would exhaust the choice. The reception time is limited to before 22:00. There is a bar and lounge but getting a drink when the reception is shut is impossible. Breakfast was limited to continental.
The area was especially lovely and within reach of some lovely countryside and towns. The staff were friendly and helpful. The restaurant was good. The rooms were clean and comfortable. We stayed at the end of the summer season and found the lounge and sitting areas tired and inhospitable.
lovely setting. Balcony Decor needed updating. Broken light fitting in bathroom. Room cramped due to extra bed. TV lead had to go across the main entrance into the room.
