I love the small village feel of Trifia and the staff was very helpful and friendly. I love the feel of the hotel. It is one of my favorite ones in Spain. Nothing! I liked everything!
The hotel was a very good place to stay. It was very clean , the staff were very friendly. We would recommend it to our friends.
Location, charm. Breakfast not great.
the setting and atmosphere
Really relaxing and friendly staff It was quite far from Tarifa-off season, only way to get to Tarifa is by taxi
really relaxed good position friendly staff and all in all good bloody fun. menu
There is amazing surrounding around hotel like garden, bar etc. n/a
It definately was a chillout-great views across the beach to Africa.
Good room, beautiful gardens, good food. A long way from town, but great kitesurf spot with a couple of bars and restaurants nearby
The garden was very nice. We got food poisoned by a bad chicken baguette in the snack bar.
I liked the location in front of the beach and the real "chill out" atmosphere. There is a national road immediately outside of the hotel and if the traffic is heavy, you may have some noise inside the room
Room was excellent - very clean and modern, stylish design. Good size shower and washing facilities. Probably aimed at younger market than a 60 year old grandad cycling round Spain but there was a general air of relaxtion and calm. Not over impressed by the restaurant choices but Tarifa is easily accesible by car and that has a great choice of eating places.
was using the hotel as a stopover on my way to morocco... served its purpose as a place to sleep. not central to tarifa -- requires a taxi ride to town.
Staff is nice and water is only 1 euro. We need a parking lot more handy.
The Wi-Fi is not available throughout the entire Hotel as the reservation stated.
Beautiful room in the old town area of Tarifa. The room was very quiet, clean and tastefully decorated.
Location The staff were terrible - smoking outside of our "non-smoking room" and then threatening to call the police because we complained about this.
This is a pleasant little hotel in a great location in the old part of town close to the ferry terminal. It is immaculately clean, the staff friendly (no english spoken). Bars and restaurants open late nearby good, if like us you arrive on a late ferry from Tangier. Noisy location and perhaps a bit expensive for what is a very basic hotel with not very comfortable bed. Take earplugs!
In city center so could walk to stores, owner very helpful, I had quiet room but others in another room were wakened by street noise need up front information about parking zones, so not get tickets or towed- we did not understand the procedures
Air con Small bathroom
The location is good. We have stayed at other hostals in Tarifa and this was the best location The rooms are well furnished but are small and the hostal is near a church which has a church bell that chimes every 15 minutes including during the night
Although the room was attractively decorated and very centrally located we were woken up 3 times by what sounded like steel beer barrels being rolled over the cobbled streets. However the worst thing was that on the hour the church clock chimed and woke us up all night.
Located in the center of Tarifa. Very clean and complete rooms. Very friendly staff.
Friendly staff, Location, Price It gets loud outside
The hotel was close to the beach and bus station. The room was very hot as there was no ac or fan. Also, there was a dirty mop in the bathroom, because the shower leaked everywhere, even into the sleeping area.
Close to the ferry to Morrocco. Please do not stay here! The rooms were small, dark, musty and damp. We paid 50 euros per night and it should have been cheaper! The small bathroom was disgusting becasue every time we showered the floor would get wet because the shower curtain did not keep the water out. I wondered why there was a bucket and mop in the bathroom...I thought the maid left it, but it was there for us to mop up the puddles!
Having our own little appartment needed a good dusting!
It's very close to the beach and the old city centre. The rooms are nice and have what they need. There's free wi-fi in all the rooms. There was no hot water in my room, which was also very cold. And often there wasn't any hot water when I needed to take a shower.
Rooms' doors sre without handles and for this reason every time you close a door you make noise and disturb other guests.
location of the hotel - very convenient, and close to bus stop quite noisy; the tiles in the rooms make the sounds from the corridors even loder...
nothing good that I can say. The hotel is a total run down. The door broken down when we were in the room, and the staff had to climb in from window to free us.
Basic, clean, well run Outstanding repairs to curtain rails.
cheap and good location unfriendly staff and rickety room
Rooms were spacious and very clean. Hotel restaurant was very good. Included buffet breakfast was adequate. Hotel had both on-site parking and restaurant which were important since we were arriving later in the evening. Off season so not too many staff? Check-out could have been better...was automatically billed in us Dollars when all other hotels asked whether we wanted the charges in euros or dollars...so ended up paying about $30 extra since the euro rate declined daily (my cc does not have any fees).
The standard for a 2 star was excellent, we particularly liked the use free of charge of the internet, free small book library, the buffet breakfast was very good for 2 star and the room was clean and included mini bar. The staff in the evening were awful. The room had no radio or TV I would definitely want some outside contact and if I use the hotel again would request one of the few rooms which offered TV. I would also have a sea view. You definitely need a car for this hotel.
Hotel staff were very friendly. Location of the hotel was perfect. We really enjoyed our stay there. Meals were excellent especially the breakfasts.
The hotel is situated by the beach and looks beautiful and the gardens are gorgeous . The facilities are poor and inadequate. the swimmimg pools were cold and not pleasant to swim despite the warm weather. You had to pay extra for the sauna . Everyday breakfast was a fly extravaganza , meat and cheese was left uncovered . I expressed my conern sevral times but was told this was normal in the continent. Staff were rude and didnt interact with guests ,their English was poor . When we were arrived and left there was no courtious pleasantries such as goodye or thankyou for staying. Both myself and daughter have returned with a virus
Excellent location in the old quarter of Tarifa. Numerous shops and outdoor cafes just outside the door. Great place to stay if you plan on taking the ferry to Tangier, as the port is a 5 minute walk from the hotel. This is by no means a luxury hotel, and there probably are none in Tarifa, but it is exactly what I expected for a modest cost. We drove and parked our car 2 blocks away in the port area, where parking is free if you can find it (unpainted curb). Not a single scratch after 2 days of it sitting there. Continental breakfast was included (toast, ham, cheese, coffee, etc) and while basic, was satisfactory. Bed was not very comfortable and the decorations spartan yet funky. We stayed in 403 which has a killer view of Africa on a clear day. There is no a/c in the room, and though you don't really need it, opening the windows subjects you to the street noise as others have mentioned. All in all worth the price due to its location but keep in mind that this is not a traditional hotel. It's more of a bar/lounge that happens to have rooms upstairs. Very funky atmosphere and not at all a problem for me.
Good location. No air conditioning, hotel was located over a bar/nightclub with loud music blaring all night.
decor, cool tunes getting too expensive for location and lack of facilities
Great location. Genuine, friendly and helpful staff. Great bar. Lack of air-conditioning could be a problem in height of summer
best located in the old city of tarifa. very cool bar in the hotel. free wi-fi. close to food and nightlife options. very noisy like other hotels located central in busy areas. good hotel if you want to party. if you want to relax and sleep, book another hotel.
The staff are so friendly and helpful. There was live music in the bar one night which added to our stay. The hotel is funky and big into music but in a tasteful way which fits with the old town of Tarifa. We stayed in the suite which had fantastic views of Africa, the port and the old city.
Location Biggest disappointment was the water pressure. We stayed on a higher floor and the water pressure and water temperature constantly changed while taking a shower, which made it impossible to take a shower.
very good location
Misiana was in a good location and good for getting around town. The street noise was loud and the curtains didn't block the light. There was no parking available, and staff couldn't tell us where to park. There was no one working the desk when we got there. We had to go to the bar to get someone to help.
Room was nice and clean, desighed and the view was greate. We enjoyed it. Aspecially we liked time for breakfast (kofe and sandwich), they served it from 9 till 12.
Nice room with view of the ocean, clean, the whole place had a family-run atmosphere.
ease of access and proximity to beach reception was marose and hard work
Stayed in Apartment 5 which was clean and tidy and quiet with a nice terrace and garden looking out towards the ocean. Reasonably clean but very basic, good location but you probably need a car. The owners have a very cute dog and also a cat so if you are not an animal lover be aware. Pool very relaxed and great temperature. It was annoying having to turn on the gas to have hot water - not sure if they have any gas leak detectors either but we slept with the door to kitchen closed.
The hotel was extremely badly staffed. The room was dark, smelly and the floor although cleaned felt sticky
The pool area was very nice and the groubds were very nice. Rooms were comfortable. Perhaps this is common in Spain, but we were charged for our 'plates' with our meals.
We really enjoyed the great position of the hotel between Tarifa and Bolonia, the position of the room, the trees and the green area around the hotel, the fantastic and romantic view to the seaside, the swimming pool... The Dulce Nombre was like a small "Paradise" to us... The majority of the staff had been a little bit rude, inpolite and not smiling at all, but we didn't understand why. One of them was very nice by the way. Furthermore, there were some little small things about the cleaning of the hotel that hadn't been satisfactory: we found mould on the bread at breakfast, leaves in our room's floor when we arrived and there weren't big comfortable paper tissues on the tables at breakfast...
The pool area was very nice, clean, calm and sheltered. The restaurants around the hotel were really good and there is a beachvolley area/bar very close which was a nice chill-out. The beach (around 5 min walk) is also very nice, especially if your Kite-surfing or wind-surfing. By the beach there was a lunch restaurant which served a really good buffet with plates big enough to share between two persons. The staff were sometimes really rude and didn't give you a welcoming feeling at all. They didn't speak english at all and did not provide any useful information about the area. It costs too much considering what you get and the rooms are standard, clean and quite large but the beds were not comfortable at all. No safetybox in the room. Breakfast is not included and one has to pay 5 euros for two toasts, coffee and a glass of juice. The hotel is a taxi ride away from Tarifa center and costs around 12 euros one way, so if you are heading for Tarifa it might be a good idea to reconsider another hotel. Though, if you are only interested in the beach close by or have a car, it's an ok hotel.
The location is great and the hotel itself is quite nice. The staff however were cold if not somewhat rude. The beds were not particularly comfortable either. Not a bad place for the price though and I spent most of my time at the beach, so it didn't matter that much in the end.
Hotel location, landscape view and swimming pool. Hotel staff don't speak English. Although the hotel seemed empty we got a room on the back side, when we asked for a different room they claimed the hotel is full. The breakfast is very basic.
Clean, well situated for access to Tarifa, Gibralter, Cadiz... Meals were not inexpensive but they were good quality. Great value for money A minor concern was its location on a busy hwy at a curve in the road.
location and friendly staff Restaurant too expensive for the food served.
Eating fabulous food in comfortable dining room smokers allowed or not controlled in dining area
Room with view on sea ... only with binoculars
Wonderful facility, beautiful grounds, large rooms, large marble bathroom, very fine dining room, beautiful decor, free parking, great comfortable beds. No internet in the room
The beautiful setting. I felt the restaurant was just OK. The prices were a bit high for the quality of the food. The food was not BAD, just a little more than I thought it was worth.
The rooms were very spacious and price was great. There was free parking. The hotel was very easy to get to. Location was farther from town then expected - about a 20 euro cab ride. Breakfast buffet was poor.
Le restaurant de l'hotel était super (bel ambiance, bon, ..) Je le recommande.
The restaurant and bar staff was outstanding!
The rooms were spacious and clean. New towels everyday. There was limited parking which was fine in the evening. However, one day there was no parking so had to double park. The reason for limited parking could possibly be explained by it being a Spanish holiday and there being a number of families have come out to the hotel for the restaurant.
Sitting on the balcony was lovely, there was no view as such but we were not overlooked and a little brook ran past the room. The 1/2 pension was extremely good value because the food was superb and there was a good selection. Nothing, some may say it's out in the middle of nowhere but it you are travelling by car then it's a perfect little stop off place to relax.
Hotel and rooms were nice and clean and the staff were all very friendly + the food was of a fairly good standard. The lounge and bar facility were very limited.
Location, Atmosphere, Breakfast, restaurant (when it was open!) That the restaurant seemed to close unexpectedly some evenings.
Cute, quiet hotel. Bed wasn't the best.
I couldnt fault this place in anyway, shape or form, the staff were unbelievably friendly, the food was great, the location excellent as were the rooms quite simply the best hotel I have stayed in Spain so far. I have nothing negative to say about this hotel at all.
Very welcoming, the room clean and tidy with air conditioning that worked. The food in the restauant was excellent and the breakfast was the best value for money we had on our trip.
Clean room with air conditioning. Good food, excellent breakfast buffet. Receptionist did not speak any English (but found a colleague who did)
We stayed two nights at Hotel Le Torre and enjoyed our stay immensely. The hotel is stylish, thoughtfully designed, has nice rooms and lovely grounds. We paid EC 65 per night in mid-September for a nice double with a great breakfast. We ate in the hotel restaurant both nights had two terrific meals. As in most Spanish hotel and restaurants, the staff were aloof and spoke little English -- exept for one Italian waitress who was both charming and fluent in four languages, including English. What a delight!
The room was nice and the view good The resteraunt was very poor with the meal served cold and raw despite our requests for it to be well done.
how clean and quiet everything was and the staff very attentive and helpful
Location. We had a car and didn't have to worry about parking. Close to ferry to Tangier. Very basic. No light to read in bedroom. Nowhere to sit. Flies on breakfast buffet.
The hotel has an excellent layout and great location. Good breakfast, fair restaurant and nice bar. In total the hotal is a recommendable experience. 1) All bungalows and rooms should have a refridgerator, considering the prices. 2) Their pet policy should be revised. There are simply too many dogs! 3) Parking for guests was often obstructed by cars of day-visiting surfers. 4) My fear is that maintenance is slipping, and that the hotel slowly will degrade from the excellent condition it had three years ago, on our first visit.
location no double bed
Possibly my favorite Hotel in the World
The hotel site was breathtakingly beautiful. Breakfast buffet was wonderful. The staff was extremely friendly & helpful. Staff spoke English very well. Staff was helpful with restaurant & other recommendations. We would definitely be return guests.
Helpful and friendly staff that even helped to cancel our remaining stay. The comfort and cleanliness of the room did not match our expectations.
Liked that you could just step out of your room and be on the beach, also the views were amazing and felt chilled by then end of our stay, this is the third time we have stayed at Dos Mares The only thing that lets Dos Mares down is that there food & drinks are to expensive, reflecting that the other hotels on this stretch of beach are alot lower and far far better food!! Most of the time we went else were to eat and drink, which is a same as its such a lovely hotel
That you have your own bungalow with sea view, and the breakfast was great! Everthing is a little bit old, if they would repair and replace some things it could be a great hotel!
When we did order food, it was very good. We were disturbed by the staff's lack of courtesy. We felt as if we were an "inconvenience" to the bar/restaurant staff, as well as when checking in. However, we did receive excellent and pleasant assistance when checking out.
The laid back attitude of the place, combined with excellent facilities. A place to rest and meditate or to be active. Several of the appartments have a strong odor caused by the humid conditions, and I had to change appartment several times.
The staff was very friendly and helpful.
The hotel was fine and the dining room good. However, this is a very hot summer and the air conditioning just did not function - it appears to need reconditioning. The gardens around the hotel are very good and it is very pleasant to be able to sit outside for meals and drinks etc.
Beautiful hotel in fabulous location just a few miles from Bolonia beach. Fantastic restaurant, rooms are well furnished and spacious and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Would recommend 100% and we look forward to returning :o)
Nice and cousy, clean and easy to reach. Close to beautiful Playa Bolonia. A little far from the nightlife (15 km from Tarifa).
The staff was very helpful and the place was absolutely beautiful. The restaurant was excellent as well. I was sad that the restaurant was not open for lunch (only dinner), because I loved the food!!
territory design small rooms
Lovely Garden setting very relaxing despite proximity to main road. Staff very friendly and close to the beach. Restaurant was also fantastic. Quite far away from tarifa town but very close to the best beach.
Very nice, and relaxing environment, the green garden with the little pool combined with the arabish elements is like contrapoints to the natural seashore. Most of the building is made with handycraft elements, but it makes a unique appearance.
The staff was very friendly and spoke excellent English. The hotel is conveniently located right off the centre and we found a parking spot very close. Our room's window opened to the street which made it a bit noisy.
Good hostal. Big rooms. Clean. 10 minutes walking to the center. Qwiet place. No breakfast.
Helpful staff, clean room, nice bar and breakfast terrace, close to beach, quiet. No tea / coffee facility in room, Plastic undersheet on bed.
Room was good. Unfortunately, in the hotstel is not very good isolation, and you can hear all noices from others rooms. In the bathroom were cockroaches ! ! ! Every morning was the cleaning room.
they had very comfortable pillows and good size rooms. also there was air conditioning and nice staff the hot water was not very hot and you did not get alot of it when you take a shower
central location, good access to historic town centre of Tarifa, we had no pb finding a parking space in the street near the hostal, but that is low season (November) very thin walls, we could hear the other people brushing their teeth in their bath room!!!!
It's was a decent place to stay. The hostel is 5 min away from the old town, where most of the cafes, pubs, restaurants and shops are situated. The girl at the reception was very kind to explain where we can go partying, shopping or for a beach. Just like in most places in Spain, most of the staff wasn't speaking English. And there were no remote control for A/C.
The young lady at the frontdesk was very helpful. The parking free on the street ;) The cleanliness, the "margaritas" upfront the bed, the pillows :) Only arab posts on TV. But in Tarifa you don't have much time for TV :)
My friend and I thought the hostel was lovely, comfortable beds and pillows and a lovely bathroom, I would definately stay again. The staff were very helpful, great for the towns nightlife. No, only there wasn't any parking but I alreeady new before I booked.
