10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful hotel! The room, pool area, common areas - everything is very comfortable and beautifully decorated. We loved it so much that we decided to stay another night. Breakfast is great. No lunch but they allowed us to have our own food next to the pool.
Cons: We stayed in a junior suite because the bed in the deluxe room was too small for us (180x182).
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Warm welcome and attention from staff especially helpful. Monika took good care of us and also gave us an interesting tour of the house. Everything promised was delivered with care and personal interest. We’ll be back
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was great
Cons: Noise from room next door.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: the staff was fantastic. Monica, the hotel manager was one of the very best I've ever dealt with. She called us personally the day before we arrived to see if we needed anything prior to the visit, personally toured the property when we arrived and helped give us 5-star level service the entire time. This hotel is the former personal residence of Spain's former president. It's gorgeous! The pool is a work of art. Our suite was simply beautiful. If I'm ever in Avila again I will stay here and certainly recommend it to anyone who appreciates quality service as we do.
Cons: Nothing. Was great1

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful small hotel in an old synagogue, right in the centre. Nice room and very comfortable bed. Very quiet.
7.0 Good
Pros: location and staff were great
Cons: Two problems: gnats in the room coming from the drain and no wifi in the room.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly and helpful staff. Brilliant location in centre but no traffic noise.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Lovely young lady on reception! She offered to take our bags to our room straightaway so we could get onto the city walls within the free time slot once she realised we only had 10 minutes! She also looked after our bags after check out. Lots of little touches - furniture, pictures, decorations - really enhanced the bright, sunny ambience of the hotel, an old Rabbi's house, and the complimentary coffee and cakes for breakfast were very welcome!
Cons: The blue light emitting from the television all night, even though it was off. Duvets and covers would have been easier, more versatile and hence more comfortable than sheets and blankets. Maybe, also, an alternative choice of pillow because the ones we had might be too hard for some people.
6.3 Good
Pros: The weather
Cons: Noisy. Paper thin walls
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Location right inside the village
Cons: Impossible to find. Spent 90 minutes driving around trying to follow the GPS. Much easier to park outside the wall and walk in.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Price. Location. 24-hour reception. Plaques on doors indicating who used to live there. The dedication to remembering Jews who lived in Spain. Room and patio area. Parking 11 euros in hotel garage. Street parking was difficult to find.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Centrally located and within walking distance to all major sights. WiFi is very reliable. Room was excellent.

La Sandalia - Ávila - Building
3
9.4 Excellent (243 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at La Sandalia in Avila (Old Town of Avila), you'll be steps from Walls of Avila and 3 minutes by foot from Palacio de Polentinos. Featured amenities include microwave in a common area and refrigerator in a common area.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Really beautiful hostel in historical center of Ávila. Nice, cooperative and friendly woman in reception. All is very well thought-out. Big kitchen with shared fridge, in-block terace, ...
Cons: The only "feature" that you need to count with is that there are just 2 (two) bathrooms (combined with WC) for whole hostel (6 rooms, some double rooms, some for 4 people). So especially in the morning you can experience quite upleasant times. But it is not a reason to give less than 10 stars - the owner probably can not solve it.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was clean and everything was new and comfy. Awesome place to stay. The owner and her daughter made you really welcome.
Cons: Nothing it was amazing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Bathroom was meticulously clean and complete with toiletries, the hostel is situated 5 minutes from the entrance to the walls, and the staff was very accommodating. The building is also lovely, it feels more like a home than a hostel. It exceeded my expectations for my trip, I would recommend it to anyone visiting Avila.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The bed was very comfortable and the welcome very good.
Cons: The desk was unattended when we checked out, with no way to contact staff.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Great location inside the city walls. Inés is English with a Spanish mother so linguistically everything is easy, and she's also very helpful.. Spacious, comfortable room with large bathroom and walk in wardrobe. Clean, spacious communal areas.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Hostel was great and staff was extremely helpful. Would definitely stay here again.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hosts are wonderful and we felt very comfortable! It is close to the center and calm at the same time. We would definitely recommend the accommodation! Thank you for everything!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: La Sandalia is such a beautiful hostel offering a welcoming and relaxing stay. I especially enjoyed the comfortable beds and the lounge area as I was in need of a quiet night. The kitchen is also great and I wish I could have stayed longer to enjoy more of the hostel. Well located to explore the old town area and the many restaurants, sights and walks. I would highly recommend a stay here. Really good for families too!
10.0 Excellent

Cons: That I had to check out a day early.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Nice and clean, quiet and well located. Good shower.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: There is no breakfast on the premisses, but many coffee shops closeby.

Hotel Las Leyendas - Ávila - Building
5
8.8 Excellent (894 reviews)
Overview Reviews
A stay at Hotel Las Leyendas places you in the heart of Avila, steps from Walls of Avila and 2 minutes by foot from Torreon de los Guzmanes. Featured amenities include express check-in and an elevator (lift).
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Very helpful and friendly staff. Location is great. Ambience is great. Definitely would recommend it.
Cons: WiFi was very slow. Room was good but could have had more facilities.
7.0 Good
Pros: The location was great! I liked the stone and wood decor.
Cons: We didn't like having to walk through the restaurant to get out of the hotel. We would have liked to pay in cash, but understand it is typical to only accept cards.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is perfect and my room was very clean. It is just next to the ancient walls which is convenient for enjoying the day and night view of the walls. There is an observatory just one minute away, I recommend to go there in the morning for the panoramic countryside view. The local pastry on Calle Caballeros opposite of the Soul Kitchen Restaurant was a surprise found. The gentleman sells both pastry and coffee. So if you are looking for really local pastry of NO fancy souvenir packaging, that is the one and it is just two minutes from the hotel.
Cons: Wifi log-in was not always smooth.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was ideal for visiting the old walled town. Although it didn't have parking, it was easy to find free parking very close by. We were impressed by the excellent signing in machine as we arrived when the receptionist had left. It was very quiet in our room on the ground floor. The experience of being in a hotel in the walls of the historic town was wonderful.
Cons: Nothing at all.
7.0 Good
Pros: Comfy bed was a bonus for us and the room was clean. We didn't book for breakfast but were accomodated in the morning. The juice selection ar breakfast was impressive.
Cons: No tea or coffee facility No plug for the bath. We only read the notice once we got back from dinner and the reception was already closed. Not a fan of the electronic self service check in....very impersonal.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was excellent and the restaurant attached to the hotel was fabulous. Room was bigger than expected. Breakfast good, worth the €5!!
Cons: There was no one in reception when we got there and we had to use the self check in. This is NOT a good way to welcome guests! And if you are going to use a self check in you better make sure it works (which it didn’t and we had to get someone from the restaurant to help us). Hot water was an issue (no hot water 2 mornings out of 3). It was also very hot in Ávila and the air conditioning was still set to heat only. Very hot sleeping at night.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Location, staff and cleanness
Cons: The air conditioning didn't work
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Good value, nice hotel in excellent location.
Cons: Nothing

Hostal Bellas - Ávila
7
8.8 Excellent (702 reviews)
Overview Reviews
A stay at Hostal Bellas places you in the heart of Avila, steps from Plaza Mercado Chico and Walls of Avila.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Situated right in the center, very close to Plaza Real and in walking distance to all the sights. The staff was very friendly, the room was very clean, had a balcony where I could smoke. Almost perfect.
Cons: No idea.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Rosa Sancho must be the nicest hotel clerk in all Spain. For every little problem that I had, she had a solution, often before I realized I had a problem. Usually that involved going up to her apartment for something she could see I needed. If I were in business now, I'd hire her for twice whatever she wants here. She and the hotel are both gems.
Cons: Next time I'd ask for the corner room which has 2 balconies. Mine only had one....guess that is the definition of a first world problem.
10.0 Excellent

El Encanto Hotel & Cafetería - Ávila - Building
8
8.8 Excellent (679 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at El Encanto Hotel & Cafetería in Avila (Old Town of Avila), you'll be steps from Avila Cathedral and Avila City Hall. Featured amenities include complimentary newspapers in the lobby, a 24-hour front desk, and luggage storage. Self parking (subject to charges) is available onsite.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: This is a great little hotel just off the cathedral square and within the walls of the old town. Doubt there's is a better situated hotel in Avila if you have just one night and want to wander the old town and ramparts. Our host was very welcoming as were all the staff and the room was a good size with a large comfortable bed. Once the day trippers leave, the old town quietness down and we enjoyed a restful night. The car park is just round the corner and is secure. Breakfast was good and the hotel also has a bar/cafe. Avila enjoys a spectacular setting with far reaching views from the incredible encircling ramparts.
Cons: Getting into the old town was not easy as it has a one way system and so we took a while to navigate our way to the car parking. Otherwise this was an excellent stay.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This property was amazing. On the ground floor is a lounge and bar and there is also a very cool courtyard where you can sit and have your drink. The room was well done, had a full length mirror (most smaller hotels in Spain seem to only have one mirror in the bathroom), huge bathroom, and very well appointed. The staff was very helpful and friendly and the location was fantastic - yards/meters away from the Cathedral which has a great bakery near it (stopped there twice in one day....). Highly recommended.
Cons: The city of Avila has recently made some of the streets one way only and both Apple and Google maps kept trying to send me down one way streets which I couldn't do. Driving within the old walled part of Avila can be a bit frustrating so unless you have an updated GPS system, just park as close as you can and walk to the property to get parking instructions and the fob for the garage door otherwise you'll start off your visit to Avila on the wrong foot.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location of the hotel was perfect inside the old city with easy access to everything.
Cons: We only had time to stay for one night.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I liked the place near to the cathedral. I could park in the street at 300 m from the hotel and was really cheap. later, i knew it was a parking even closer. it is a boutique hotel done in an old sinagoga. It is completly refurnished with a good modern architecture. I really enjoy the quality of the hotel and the refurnished. I'll be back in my next trip to Avila.
Cons: nothing to remark.
7.0 Good
Pros: Central location
Cons: Expensive for what you got
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Perfect location and friendly staff Very convenient Nice compact design Large comfortable bed
Cons: Parking was a negative but given the location within Ávila totally understandable parking was cryptic
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything, the location, the staff were lovely and helpful and could not do enough to help, one of the best hotels i have stayed in.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Interesting renovation of an old building with modern aspects
Cons: It was a bit somber/spartan in the common areas- courtyard could have used some flowers/plants
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Beautifully designed, friendly staff, made you feel welcome. Perfect location near cathedral and square.
Cons: A kettle and cups in room would have been nice. Loved the interior design... but a small nightlight in bathroom would have been good. As there is no door, When someone uses bathroom the light floods into the bedroom and wakes you up.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Location. On site facilities. Friendly staff
Cons: Preferred parking was some distance away. In room tv had an annoying blue standby light (was built into a mirror) that was extremely noticeable one the lights were out.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: The location of this hotel is really appreciated .This oldest historic building has been well renovated in a confortable manner. The rooms are quite large
Cons: I was there two years ago .After then I can say that rooms need a renovation about carpets and wall painting .It looks odds . Also if your room is in front of internal hug patio it's very noisy .
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Stylish, great location, parking and a lovely room.
Cons: The reception staff were a bit surly an date waitress in the Patio bar was miserable and gave off a very poor vibe.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The attention to detail from the waiters in the restaurant was outstanding!!!
Cons: The bed was a bit firm for my liking.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Historic building was fantastic - the photo of the interior colonnade really does look like that. Location is unbeatable - immediately adjacent to the Cathedral within the city walls. Room was comfortable, comfy bed, well equipped, and had effective air conditioning (it's a very hot part of Spain) Communal areas were clean, smart and well equipped Breakfast was plentiful and good quality and variety Good choice of food on site and in the vicinity Price was extremely reasonable Car parking (which could be difficult in this town) was on site.
Cons: One receptionist was a bit less friendly and welcoming than the other There was a business conference in the hotel which meant that the bar and dining area was rather noisy at times. (However the bedroom was always quiet.)

Hotel II Castillas Ávila - Ávila - Building
10
8.7 Excellent (3,237 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Hotel II Castillas Ávila in Avila, you'll be connected to a shopping center, just steps from National Police College and a 5-minute drive from Walls of Avila. Featured amenities include complimentary newspapers in the lobby, a 24-hour front desk, and multilingual staff. Self parking (subject to charges) is available onsite.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is clean, efficient and functional (as advertised). Check-in/out process quick and easy. Breakfast in the morning pretty good (buffet) - definitely enough to full up on before moving on. Has a Carrefour next door (easy walk - maybe 100m away) with a small selection of restaurants, also cinema shops etc. Secure underground parking, although no idea if security an issue in the area, although would guess not. Underground parking an extra 5 euro charge if you use it.
Cons: The shower was quite a complicated affair, albeit with instructions on how to use it. I'm fairly average size and it felt very cramped - if one is overly large (weight or height) else has any mobility issues, the shower might be a challenge.
7.0 Good
Pros: Great location when you have a car. Near shopping mall. Value for money = great. Good breakfast. Nice rooms.
Cons: Staff's English was poor. You need a car to get here.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great hotel right off the motorway for our trip to Mardid
Cons: nothing
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Location of the hotel is close to the motorway, without noise. The size of the rooms is excellent. Reception staff speak very good English and were very helpful.
Cons: The décor is not to my taste and is starting to date now. I have been coming to this hotel for over 10 years and it hasn't changed. Breakfast food quality has deteriorated, for example watering down orange juice. It appeared to have been blitzed possibly by a bus party and was being replenished. Shame because breakfast has always been a good selling point and the main waiter does an incredible job. The price has increased a lot from previous years.
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing......
Cons: Most of it. Miles from town....no air con in the bedroom and worse a management that look to rip off their customers... so poor that I have blocked my credit card

8.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was big and confortable.
9.5 Excellent

7.5 Good
Pros: Pillows. Air conditioning. Window shade.
Cons: WiFi is terrible. They put us in a room for disabled people. We did not reserve a room for disabled people. The shower had curtains and spilled the water all over. Very uncomfortable. I also found a little bug on my bed. I don’t know what it was, but looked like a baby cockroach... I didn’t appreciate that.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: nice room, great price, great location
Cons: metal storm shutters creaked and banged in the wind. This is my own fault for not contacting the front desk but I expect the wind to die down after dark... and they creaked and banged all night.

Cons: The hotel address mentioned in the reservation document didn't match with the location found by the GPS, we had to search it again through Google map.

Pros: Food & Breakfast good Well located for historic centre of Ávila & the walls
Cons: Hairdryer old-fashioned & insufficiently powered & detracted from the otherwise high standard of the room.

Cons: Initial reception was hostile by x3 female receptionists and when we asked to upgrade at our extra cost the hostility was pronounced: but their was a Very good and pretty excellent woman with perfect English and a very very good male(gabrial?)receptionist(also perfect English) who more than made up for it.

Pros: I mostly appreciated the Staff's professionalism, discretion, friendliness, and the hotel's cleanliness.
Cons: I did not like the fact that some flies came into the room during the day due to the opportunity to open the windows of the room by the cleaners in the early morning. I highly recommend the staff to remedy this inconvenience.

Pros: the breakfast was super delicious and various the staff was extremely professional and competent the room was great
Cons: the wifi didn't work for the entire staying!!! Although the staff said that it was fixed, I couldn't work at all...
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful, historic and very Spanish-looking hotel. Staff were extremely friendly and the breakfast was in a spectacular sort of grand ballroom. Quite a find and very fitting for this treasure of a small town. We were able to park the car right in front so it couldn't have been more convenient.
7.0 Good
Pros: The lady on reception was lovely, telling us all about Avila and hugely welcoming. She didn't try to sell us the secure parking available at the hotel, but reassured us our motor bike's would be perfectly safe in the free (weekends only) parking outside the door.
Cons: The room smelt of ingrained cigarette smoke from previous years of smoking. I don't think it was due to inadequate recent cleaning.
7.7 Good
Pros: Staff very welcoming and helpful. Room a bit dated, but very well equipped and spacious. Clean. Breakfast buffet was an excellent selection. Good location being walkable into the centre, but far enough out to have car parking and to be easy to find by car. Also close to station. Great value for money. We had a lovely stay and would book again.
Cons: A few minor things - water was a very strange colour, window wouldn't stay open and room was very warm. The undergound car park is tiny and very difficult to manoeuvre into spaces. This wasn't too much of a problem as there were not many guests with cars when we stayed, but might be an issue in high season.
6.7 Good
Pros: We all had a very pleasent stay
Cons: I thought that all the staff on the reception desk should have been able to speak English. Parking should have been free thought that was expensive.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Well sign posted so easy to find. A lovely hotel delightfully decorated and within walking distance of Avila's attractions.
7.0 Good
Pros: Helpful staff, convenient for old town, excellent breakfast but a bit over priced.Parking a five minute walk to an underground park, expensive but very secure.
5.3 Okay
Pros: The location is fine, it takes about 20 minutes walk to the historical center. There is traffic in the street, but it was rather quiet in the night. The room was nice and spacious. The hotel has its own garage.
Cons: Some of the staff did not speak English. There is no own restaurant, only a bar. This bar offered small meals but unfortunately was full of smoke.
7.6 Good
Pros: We liked this hotel for its proximity to the train station. We also like the way the hotel is decorated - antique furniture creating an ambiance of royalty, representative of the Kingdom. Very well done. Staff are very helpful. Hotel room is very clean. Unfortunately, we didn't have the time to try their breakfast which I'm sure will be great as well.
Cons: Nothing at all.
6.4 Good
Pros: Easy to find, good central location and comfortable room

Overview Reviews
With a stay at Hotel Las Cancelas in Avila (Old Town of Avila), you'll be steps from Walls of Avila and Puerta del Alcazar. Featured amenities include dry cleaning/laundry services, a 24-hour front desk, and multilingual staff. Self parking (subject to charges) is available onsite.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Location - once you find the right gateway into the old city and navigate your way into the hotel's car park. Quirky and charming building, huge bed and lots of storage. We had a ladder up to a tiny window from where you could see the old walls. Room was surprisingly light, considering no 'proper' window.
Cons: We decided to eat in the hotel's restaurant and the location, in a garden by the walls, was gorgeous. However, we were given the English menu which differed from the Spanish version, and told that the main dishes were not big enough to share, so we ordered one each. When they came they were HUGE and we could easily have shared. Ended up being far and away the most expensive meal we had and although very tasty, it was not worth what we paid - and this was the only place where we were charged for bread too.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very comfortable room and excellent breakfast. Ideal location for exploring the town. Good instructions including video on website showing how to access the hotel and parking area, which would otherwise be a little tricky to find. Helpful in finding a safe spot in gravel car park for our motorcycle.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was fabulous, inside Avila’s walls, we travelled by motorbike and the parking for the bike was perfect, behind a locked gate. Be sure to follow the video on the website, this takes you straight in :) gorgeous, huge room and bathroom, all super clean, loads of character. The breakfast was considerately adapted for us vegetarians and was great quality. Avila is stunning and we will definitely head for this hotel next time :)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We were given a choice of rooms upon check in which was a very thoughtful gesture. Located within the walls, right beside the Cathedral, close to the sights, lots of places to eat around the area. Also very close to the taxi stand since we decided to take a cab from and to the train station

Pros: I was especially impressed with staying in a renovated medieval palacio as I love Spanish history. The hotel was centrally located and the staff were very helpful and we were so grateful for the airconditioning in our room.
Cons: We didn't realise that Spain was in a heat wave, so we found the heat oppressive and we suffered from a bit of heat exhaustion and dehydration as it was 33+ everyday.\

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is excellent!!!The small city is beautiful.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I cannot emphasize more about the location: right next to the cathedral and stone's throw to the walls! Very close to Plaza Mayor and cafes and restaurants abound. The air conditioning was in excellent shape. As I was not feeling well during check-in, the comfortable temperature and the extra pillows and blankets were a good plus! I got plenty of rest and felt energized to explore the city before day's end.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Great location.
Cons: Modern decor in rooms not in keeping with the hotel style. Staff were not overly helpful and more interested in the needs of the large tour group staying there
7.5 Good
Pros: Great location
Cons: Slight drain or air con smells in room 105
9.5 Excellent
Cons: Great location. Good facilities
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Comfortable room with strong a/c when the outside temp was 38c. View of the cathedral was out onto the wall and crenellations across a road of about 4 metres. Not worth the additional price for a queen room. Breakfast was in pleasant surroundings and had ample choice. Plaza de Catedral: location, location, location.
Cons: Nightmare getting from the public underground parking back to the hotel on departure, but Ávila is a medieval pueblo - however, it would make me think about another hotel if we ever came back here.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Perfect location for exploring Avila, right across from the cathedral and access to the walls. The staff was very helpful, and accommodated an early check-in request.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Owner and chef Claude was very friendly and prepared great meals for us. The grounds are like a park and the views are lovely. When we left, we had to catch an early flight out of Madrid. To accommodate our schedule, Claude made us a big breakfast at 6:30 AM (usual breakfast is at 8AM.) What an exceptional way to end our vacation! Thanks Claude!
7.5 Good
Pros: The hotel appeared to be part of a sanctuary . There were quite a few pilgrims staying who were walking the Camino de Santiago . The food was good especially the breakfast which was the largest and most comprehensive breakfast we had in the whole of our four week stay in Spain/Portugal . Lovely setting over looking Avila .
Cons: The room was small and the bed was a small double ( no other choices ). The shower doors were unattached at the bottom so I couldn’t use it for fear of collapsing the whole shower . No English was spoken , which is fair enough but as many English people stay I would have thought it sensible to have the menu translated into English as the food is good . There must have been almost a dozen cats roaming around the property which we didn’t object to but it may put some people off .
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The surroundings are lovely and quiet. We had a delightful breakfast prepared by the owner who spent time visiting with us.
8.3 Excellent

Pros: Staff very friendly and went out of their way when I rang to book an extra night, especially as I don’t speak Spanish by finding a waitress with some English to ring me back.
Cons: Bed too small! We are used to a much larger one.
