The people that work here are Excellent! They are always smiling and happy to help out. The restaurant food was excellent. The beach was very nice with lots of chairs and umbrellas. The beds are small and lumpy. You are given 1 towel and no washclothes... strange... There are people constantly trying to sell you something on the beach. Top shelf liquor is extra. I tried to use their internet cafe but was told to leave because I did not pay extra to be in their 'club program'. The hotel lobby internet is worse than dial up - don't even bother trying to use it...
Most of the staff was friendly and provided assistance when requested. Several room to far night activities, some of front desk need customer service training disengaged ,the tailing of guess by Juan for the Privilege Club, limited sitting at the Pescador Rest. activities geared more for European guest.
Great food, atmosphere and staff. The rooms are spacious and updated. The entertainment was good too. A top winner for us. Everything is centered to the front desk lobby so even when you leave the pool to go to the room you need to go thru the front desk lobby. But that should not stop you from going.
very clean yes pools closed early and bringing guest in was a huge problem and never had a problem the night before
Definitely go for the Golden Package and try to get one of the buildings close to the beach. They start at 1 (closest to the beach) and go up from there. The higher the number, the farther away from the beach. The place has an outstanding beach and all watersports are included. The buffet is ok, not fantastic but still way worth the price. If you go out to any Restaurants outside the Hotel, they are very reasonably priced and the food is amazing. Hotel still has a very varied menu in the buffet and fruits are fresh as are many other things. If you have a chance, rent a quad and go for a ride outside the property. Las Terrenas is an amazing place. For a romantic dinner, go to a Restaurant called Mi Corazon, I left speechless. Also the Beach Restaurant owned by The Peninsula House Hotel is also a stop you will always remember. Bottom Line, its has a fantastic beach, big rooms, varied Buffet, but if you need gourmet food you'll have to ride for 5 minutes to the plethora of amazing restaurants around town. Definitely a place to see before you die.
I loved the professional and courteous staff. The facilities were kept up well. I was blown away by the variety of food choices. I had a broken light fixture and a few lights weren't operable. The gym could use some new eguipment. Lastly, I thought the wifi cost was a bit outrageous and I was disappointed when I found out that we were only allowed a hour of complimentary service.
We were at the Gran Bahia Principe El Portillo in May of 2013. We were pleasantly surprised. Beautiful hotel grounds, amazing beach, excellent food, and the staff were very friendly, pleasant and helpful. We cannot wait to go back.
Just came back from spending the weekend there for the wedding of one of my closest friends with a total of 86 guests. So much went wrong, most importantly they did not try their best to make the wedding as special as it should have been. The Ceremony was on the beach absolutely beautiful. No complaints there. I wrote down a list of things that were wrong with the reception. Here it goes: - No Air Conditioning in the reception area which was one of the restaurants at the resort . They opened all the windows and we had to fan ourselves the whole time. A guest asked Georgina (the wedding organizer) about the air conditioning system and was told that it had been broken a few nights before They should have moved the wedding to another room with air conditioning to make it more comfortable for their guest. - The waiters were taking their time filling up champagne glasses for the toast. Half of the party had to toast with glasses of water. - Our table was not ready after we walked in from cocktail hour, chairs and dining sets were missing. - The menu was all seafood. People had allergies and they were not understanding that. They thought they fixed it by placing steak and seafood on the same plate. No appetizers for meat eating people. - Everyone ended up going to the buffet and eating . The wedding venue was empty at one point. - DJ was just playing a CD and walking out. - Everyone left early because it was uncomfortable. -The list goes on...
i wouldn't give this hotel more then 3 stars. the first day that we came to the hotel our safe didn't work and we had to wait 2 hours until some one came to fix the problem ( every time we called they said less then 5 min). our room was so far from the ocean. the night life is dead over there after 11pm they turn off the lights in the lounge. we went twice to the club and we were the only one there. the food in the buffet is the same or similar every night the dessert is the almost the same every night. grand bahia principe is a well known resort but this one gives this chain of resorts bad name
it's people The drinks, they have to upgrade them
the hotel is in a nice location, the staff is nice and helpful, the food is not to good, but you cant expect a lot for the price..
We chose this resort and at the time there were only two photos on the website. We were surprised and delighted by the beauty of the hotel the closeness of the beach the warmth and the attentiveness of the staff. We went in the off season. We would go back in a heartbeat.
Beautiful environment. Nice private beach. Great breakfasts and dinners. Easy to get seated at pools, beaches, and buffet restaurants. Great bar service on the beach. You can't book specialty dinners until you arrive, and they were booked the first night we got there. Bed was rock hard. Lunch buffets were not very good. All-inclusive was nice, but the only wines included were house wines which weren't good, and no light beer. Our biggest complaint was the discovery, after we got there, that there was a big push to sell you on their vacation club/time-share, and the transportation company they use to get you to and from the hotel also tries to sell you excursions.
Waitress Emperatriz, manager I don't remember his name and ladies that clean the bedroom they did a really good job ... they made our stay feel better... the beach was so cute.... First of all the segurity man at the gate was really rude to me... he made me feel like I was not body there... I was so craying about this bad experience was really times... I just want to forget about it...
The staff did not match up to the surroundings. Rude, didn't take complaints seriously.
The hotel was very beautiful and luxury. The rooms comfortable, clean and beautifully decorated. The scenery with the pool and the tall palm trees was ideal. The service was not very satisfying. Its a pity that such a beautiful hotel is not running flawlessly. Furthermore, I would suggest that the restaurant enriches its menu with dishes closer to the traditional Dominican cuisine, which is so delicious and simple.
The facilities were lovely - the view lovely! Breakfast was very expensive.
Location is great, room are very clean and kitchen is fully furnished. The facilities are well maintained. All the apartments have a balcony facing the pool. It is a bite noisy and breakfast could be better
Very friendly staff good services ,beautiful pool, beachfront
Great location. Smoking is allowed in restaruant.
excellent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! slow internet
Compared to other hotels in the area, Albachiara Hotel meet our needs. The location was great, close to restaurants and beache. We valued the complimentary breakfast as well. The hotel room was just okay, but again, probably good enough for our vacaiton. Only two total big towels, for 2 guests seemed limited. The bedroom was really dark.
The hotel itself is located across the beach. It's nice and quiet. the room is spacious and clean. The complementary breakfast was OK.
Super friendly staff. VIP area fast food and drinks section was awesome. Basic package does not include WIFI. We upgraded to VIP even then the WIFI was no good. The villa had a roof leak. The buffet food was horrible.
I liked the beach, disco, dining sometimes. The drinks were of poor quality.
Staff was friendly and very helpful. Because we were the only guests in the hotel, they even offered to give us breakfat in bed without having to go to the restaurant. Beware, they do not accept credit cards. This was the only real damper in our stay because we donor like bringing too much cash on us and prefer to pay hotels with credit cards.
The room was lovely and when we arrived we were offered a choice of rooms. The pool was rather small and unexciting. The place was very quiet- almost too quiet. When we needed to talk with reception, etc there was no one there. Also, although I booked this with a credit card online, they would accept only cash when I arrived.
