Pros: Food is excellent. amazing receptionists.
Cons: Hot AC in the room , we called them twice to fix it but still hot . they didnt refill the coffee capsules and milk in the 2nd day . I called them 3 times but nothing happened . Maybe they kept my capsules and milk for themselves? Fishing boats were available , but the fishing equipment were not . they said you have to bring your own ???
10.0 Excellent
Pros: If you are looking for a nice scenic place to stay with a five star accommodation/facilities with excellent service, this place should be on the top of your list. It was my second stay at the hotel and it was better than the first time. Really as good as advertised.
Cons: The TV programs set up and the in-room dining menu need to be revised and expanded. They seem pretty average.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything Excelent location for a nice and chill vacantion
9.6 Excellent
Pros: This old building has been restored with very good taste preserving the country-style and yet providing all comfort. Much more spacious inside as one would expect when you see the building from the outside, our room (Die Scheenkammer) was surprisingly big and spacious. Spotless clean, it had everything which was required (wardrobe, big comfortable bed, desk…). The bathroom comprised a bathtub and was equally spacious. There is a common dining room where breakfast is served that offers as well a fireplace and some comfortable chairs to enjoy. Kitchen has a proper coffee machine for guests to use. Cold beverages as well as some basic snacks are kept for guest at very affordable prices in the basement. There is free WIFI in the entire house which works very well. The guesthouse is just 15 minutes car drive from Salzburg (south) and another 15 minutes to the Trumer Seen (north). A car is definitely needed to move around but we noticed there are many biking trails in the area. Christina is very nice host who provided us with suggestions to park in Salzburg, restaurants in the area and some places to visit (Mattsee is very nice place). She was very understanding when we had to unfortunately cut our trip short by one day when my husband got sick with fever and cold. This is a wonderful place to explore not only the busy Salzburg while remaining in a relaxing and quite environment, but also to explore the country side around. Perhaps next time we will bring our bikes along!
Cons: I don't think there is much more room for improvement :)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Such a beautiful place. Very friendly staff and an amazing breakfast. Would definitely stay again
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The nice cozy feeling as soon as you see the Place. The host was so nice. She didn't hesitate to help us in every way we needed. The place had everything we felt home. Breakfast was so lovely. We were on our Honeymoon so she prepared some fresh flowers for our room. The location was so quiet and relaxing.
Cons: The Bed could have been more comfortable but it was good enough for a good sleep.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Owner Christina told us the house is about 600 years old. She and her husband purchased it, renovated it and started the B&B. Place is amazing if you are into historic cozy homes. We stayed in the old part of the house in the old miller's bedroom. Super atmosphere. Owner was very friendly. Breakfast was great. Note that it is cash only.
Cons: It's a little bit outside of downtown Salzburg, but we had a car so no big deal.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful B&B with personal and very nice service. Loved the "mini" bar. :) Dog-friendly too.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was absolutely perfect. The owner was really helpful, she even gave us some tips on what to visit and where is cheaper parking, plus she gave us a map of the city, so we did not lose time looking for Info. The breakfasts were huge and delicious with homemade jams. In the evening we could light the fire inside and just sit back and relax. The close trips to the nature were beautiful, but it is better to go there between May and October, as some are closed during the other months.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Remote location, beautiful old building, comfortable. Owners are very friendly.
Cons: They don’t accept credit cards, but other than that, we liked the rural setting and relaxed atmosphere.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The property is absolutely beautiful, old beens and old tools make an interesting decor; perfectly combined with new compliances. Really peaceful location, only the river makes for a relaxin background sound. The room has a lot of natural light, with the old wood all looks romantic. The bed is super comfortable and the outdoor space is inviting.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful rooms and nice spa
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, very friendly staff
Cons: It could be better to have coffee in the room
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Amenities were fine in general. Beautiful hotel and nearby grounds. Most of the staff speaks English (but not all) View was a plus. Breakfast was awesome.
Cons: We were aware of the lack of A/C, but we thought the weather would be more tempered. Unfortunately the days were very hot so the room was at times unbearably warm, even with fans. About the perceived “politeness”, they are at times a little bit “dry” when you make requests or questions, so I avoided interacting too much.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Full of joy.
Cons: -
6.0 Good
Pros: The hotel was clean and properly maintained.
Cons: Check-in was a disaster. The lady at the reception didn't show a sign of attention and kept chit-chatting with other guests (sadly, I understand German) for at least 5 minutes while we were waiting behind with heavy luggage and a baby in stroller. She didn't turn her head to us until I walked up to the other side of the counter and gave her a heads-up. The two hotel buildings are joined by an underground passage, which lady at check-in didn't point out. Our friends had to walk through the pouring rain with luggages to get to their room, only to find out afterwards that the passage existed and there was absolutely no hint from the check-in staff. We reserved a crib and it wasn't there in the room despite the confirmation from the hotel. The housekeeping lady, who almost stormed into our room to bring the bed, was rude and lack of basic manner. We have been to Austria for 10+ times. This hotel is the worst we have stayed in.
7.5 Good
Pros: Cleanliness and restaurant
Cons: Accessibility to hotel from main roads
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Spacious room with traditional style!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Cleanliness, space and excellent facilities. Stayed here the night before flying back to UK and the location was perfect for the airport but also very quiet. Brilliant breakfast.
Cons: Quiet a bit bigger than we expected but really nothing to dislike.

9.2 Excellent
Pros: How clean and spacious the room was and an incredible large balcony. I also loved the breakfast, that was the highlight of the stay for sure!
Cons: Pillow were too soft. Even with both pillows stacked, my head seemed to fall right thru to the mattress.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Very good breakfast. Beds very good, but 2 matrasses. Very good (and free) parking garage. Large outside pool. Heated (in october!) Swim from inside the spa area to the outside.
Cons: A warning from the reception on the nearby fire brigade garage would be good. We where alarmed at 04:00 am when a very loud warlike sirene was wailing. This had nothing to do with the hotel. I gues that this is the way the local firemen are alerted. Nether the less I was standing in my bath robe at the reception!! No jacussi in welness area. Some staff did not really speak English or German.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Good Austrian Heuriger
Cons: more different small size food selection - in modern Tappas Style ( little Schnitzel ) little Chicken ( Wachteln)

Pros: old and pretty hotel, big room, big bathroom breakfast is decent classic old hotel can't comment about location because I rented a car
Cons: mattress seems tad old (bit squeaky and not comfortable)
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very comfortable and relaxing
Overview Reviews
Brimming with authentic Austrian charm, Hotel Goldener Hirsch, A Luxury Collection Hotel, Salzburg, is a cherished symbol of exceptional hospitality and celebrated tradition. Dating back to 1407, it embodies an enduring symbiosis between original country house and luxury boutique hotel, woven into the very fabric of Salzburg life. Located just steps away from Mozart’s birthplace, in the heart of the city’s evocative old town, Hotel Goldener Hirsch inhabits Salzburg’s fairy tale setting with natural grace. Defined by its hunting lodge heritage, trophies and mounted antlers populate the walls, whilst the crest of a leaping deer is a reoccurring presence. Smartly-dressed associates, wearing uniforms reminiscent of national Tracht, welcome guests with a rare warmth that resonates across generations.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Bartender, concierge, bell staff, all wonderful.
Cons: Too much meat on the dinner menu

10.0 Excellent
Pros: location and the hotel is really cute nice special definitely a luxury stay
8.5 Excellent
Pros: Hotel Goldener Hirsch had all the promised alpine charm of a 700-year old hotel. The decor was quaint and we received a free two-level upgrade on our room. Very spacious as a result. Staff was remarkably courteous.
Cons: A bit expensive for the included amenities, and the old world charm means some amenities are missing or outdated.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everyrhing.
Cons: No issues at all
8.0 Excellent
Pros: probably the nicest hotel i've ever stayed in
Cons: We found out the hard way breakfast cost 33 Euro each per day.
9.7 Excellent
Pros: This is a fantastic hotel! If you like antiques in your room and helpful staff attentiveness, this is the place to stay. The restraint is fantastic. Don't go to it if you want new fusion type food. The menu is very traditional. Each meal was prepared as if your Gran muter was in the kitchen herself. ( I don't know the German word for grand mother, I'm just guessing.) My wife couldn't have been happier with the stay.
Cons: Comforters- I tend to be a little warm. The big down comforters were a little to warm for me.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was the best of any place we have stayed! The suite was absolutely beautiful and had everything we needed.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Staff was amazing. Very helpful and full of good ideas
Cons: Better pillow cases. They use a lot of starch
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Thomas Klingsbichl was great - we checked in at 1pm and our rooms were not available as yet. We are SPG members, so he upgraded our rooms straight away. We also then decided to stay in the hotel for dinner, which was great.
7.3 Good
Pros: Restaurant was good but too pricy. For the rest, excellent stay!
7.7 Good
Pros: Mixture between traditional austrian style and luxury
Cons: Nothing to complain
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location, very professional and helpful staff.I also liked the rustique room not lacking modern amenities.I would advise more English TV programs.
7.7 Good
Pros: Outstanding hotel - staff were efficient and friendly as well as thoughtful. Room was full of character and exceeded our expectations. The atmosphere of the 600 year old hotel was fascinating. We ate room service food which was excellent - we were able to pick locally popular dishes as well as the usual chioces on Hotel Room Service menus.
Cons: Parking was not convenient by the hotel, but the hotel took care of it all with free valet parking, so this was not a major issue.
6.0 Good
Pros: The location is excellent, very central.
Cons: The hotel is located on commercial street of the city, an area with restricted car access. Consequently, I lost at least 30 minutes trying to identify the address where I could not reach by car. Finally I called the hotel and they indicate me a different address for car navigation and so I got behind the hotel. Then I realized that the hotel has no parking and I was sent to a public parking (relatively close to ~ 200 meters). A very unpleasant experience, amplified by the fact that rain in that day and walk with luggage from the public parking to the hotel it was not the favorite part of a holliday day.
7.6 Good
Pros: The location of the hotel. We enjoyed staying in the 'old' part of Salzburg.
Cons:
6.4 Good
Pros: Great location - easy to walk to everything.
Cons:
6.4 Good
Pros: Wonderful staff and perfect location
Cons: The carpet, TV stand, small sofa and small table and chairs felt a bit cheap and out of place with the rest of the hotel
8.0 Excellent
Pros: charming small hotel in centre of town
Cons: very noisy at night
8.0 Excellent
Pros: One of the world's best hotels!
Cons:

6.3 Good
Pros: Reception staff, housekeeping and room service staff were all excellent.
Cons: The price for a river view room was too much given the poor quality of the Salzburg view. Having just come from Prague and Budapest, Salzburg's skyline is pretty dull. Also, construction made getting to the room tricky.

Pros: First and foremost, the staffs at the hotel are excellent. They are very friendly and cheerful, especially for Martin who energetically welcomed, assisted and provide great restaurant recommendations. Prior to our arrival, we asked the hotel to arrange a birthday cake to surprise our friend; and the team prepared everything for us flawlessly. The hotel itself is conveniently located in the old town of Salzburg. It's a cosy hotel with a blend of classic and contemporary finishes. Bathroom is a bit small. Wifi works well and there is also a small elevator. Breakfast is nice for this size of hotel.

Bicycles and Wi-Fi access are provided free of charge. Each room has a private bathroom, a minibar and most of the rooms feature a balcony. Free private parking is available at the Himmelreich Hotel.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful family owned hotel! Everyone was friendly and helpful. Charming hotel and wonderful views. The breakfast was great!
4.2 Okay
Pros: Views (when the clouds were up) are of the alps and breathtaking. Lovely pool Balcony
Cons: Noisy near airport (which did close at night) but we could hear freeway all night. Location was in a cluster housed area. No air conditioning and it was 35 degrees and humid, hence our doors open all night.
5.4 Okay
Pros: Proximity to the discount retail store and the bus stop
Cons: No porter service to move luggage ( was told that’s how family run hotels are- should have been specified in description while booking) no electric kettle in the room to make tea or coffee ( once again was told the same story as above). What surprises me was the mini bar prices were same as all the hotel chains I stayed in. Also I moved 3 rooms in 3 nights because apparently the room which was given to us for first night (supposed to be modern) was more like a cramped box. For 2nd night I was moved to a different room ( bigger and nicer with massive balcony) and was told that would have to vacate as someone has specifically asked for this room on our 3rd night stay—-well they could have adjusted the other guest but no we had to again switch rooms. And well this other guest never showed up. Worst was when we checked out and asked to leave our luggage near reception for an hour before our taxi arrives, I felt they agreed reluctantly and were not too happy about it. Other than this experience everything else was great, the hotel itself is very beautiful and clean. They have free bicycle which can be used to go to nearby places.
7.9 Good
Pros: The attractive, good quality furnishing of the room. Excellent location for the airport. Fantastic breakfast.
Cons: There was a washbasin in the toilet but no soap. The receptionist on duty when we checked in was extremely officious and almost hostile. Of course forms have to be filled in but I resent being spoken to in a certain tone and treated as untrustworthy because I have a British passport and an Austrian address. I had just collected my 82-year old mother from the airport and she felt most uncomfortable at being ignored at check in. I also overheard the receptionist being abrupt with other English speaking guests. Maybe she is xenophobic. We simply did not feel welcome or comfortable. Otherwise everything was ok as were the other staff.
7.5 Good
Pros: It took us only about 10 mins to walk from the hotel to Salzburg Airport, yet our room was totally quiet: didn’t hear a thing overnight. There’s a pleasant garden behind the hotel with a natural-style swimming pool (icy in mid-September!).
8.8 Excellent
Pros: We booked a room with jacuzzi but without waterbed. The woman by the reception said that they normally could not fulfill this request because when you book a room you just get one. But we got the room we wanted . Further is the hotel staff very friendly.
Cons: You can hear the neighbor's go to the toilet.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Rosenvilla exceeded our expectations. All staff interactions were of a high standard. We were provided with a room upgrade which caught us by surprise, it was greatly appreciated. The hotel is a beautiful old building, kept in good shape. Location was about 15 minutes walk from Salzburg old town. Umbrellas were supplied for the rainy day. We didn’t get to try breakfast. We regret not doing so.
Cons: I would suggest an update of pillows & linen. Crisp white makes a statement. Having said this the linen provided was good, but it could be great.

Pros: The room we stayed in was very spacious. The balcony off of our room was very large and a nice place to sit and relax in the evenings. After we had left, I realized that I forgot a book in the room. I emailed the hotel right away and Christopher responded immediately and offered to mail the book back to my home in Germany as we had already left town and would not be returning to Salzburg. The book was in my mailbox when I returned home 5 days later.

And of course the breakfast was the best we had! Staying here was very pleasant and made our short holiday in Salzburg so memorable!.
7.3 Good
Pros: This was my second stay in the hotel and everything was just fine. The location is a bit off from the town centre but, with a car, the free parking eased me a lot of headache to finding a decent parking lot near the centre. Staff were all kind, helpful and jolly.

Pros: The room was very comfortable, with a balcony you could walk out to. The bathroom and the amenities provided were excellent. It took around 15 minutes to walk to the centre (but that was known when I reserved) but I found the stroll very pleasant as it was through a green park and a promenade along the river.
Cons: There were no elevator and restaurant service except for breakfast.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Great hotel, not far at all from the city centre. Lovely room with attentive and professional staff. One of the best breakfasts we have had on any vacation in Europe. 8 kinds of honey, preserves, cheeses, cereals, the works!

Pros: This was a great place to stay! The bedroom and bathroom were both huge and clean. We ate dinner at an Austrian restaurant that was about a 3 minute walk from the Pension that was awesome! The owner is very friendly & accommodating, the WiFi worked well, the yogurt and fruit with coffee and tea in the morning was good, it was extremely easy to reach the Pension from the center of Salzburg, and there was plenty of parking. I highly recommend this Pension and will definitely stay here again the next time we are anywhere near Salzburg!
Cons: Nothing - it was all great.

Pros: The location was quite central for us, and on-site parking was handy. The room itself was fairly comfortable and quite large.

Pros: Great value for money, lovely locally owned and run hotel. The staff were very helpful in assisting us. Room was large with a sofa and chairs for lounging. Bed comfortable, bathroom large and well laid out.
Cons: If travelling with a slightly older traveller please note that the walk to the pedestrian zone is downhill but around 15/20 min depending on speed. This is a very easy distance if you are fit and healthy but just something to bare in mind if less able to walk long distances. Also worth nothing taxis can drive into the pedestrian zone.

Pros: Check in was super easy. The receptionist was very helpful and advised us to park on the street since it turned out cheaper for us than the hotel parking. The bed was very comfortable! Location is great! Only about 20 min walk from all the attractions.
4.2 Okay
Pros: The room is large enough. The facility is not bad (But it may be bought by urself)
Cons: I had been through really the worst thing in my whole hotel life... That was I was charged for 180Euro extra, just because I made a spermatorrhea on the bed topper??!! Come on it totally happened when i was sleeping!! I knew nothing!!! And of cuz I didn't mean to do that!! But when i checked out, they said I made the bed wet, they have to throw it and i need to pay for that.. Wtf?? I had lived in every kind of hotel for hundred times, that was really the first time to be charged with such a excuse! It was really horrible, U know guy? So u d better ignore this one if u r in a period, or u will get a great cost!!!

Fresh apples to eat in a welcome area. Very beautiful homemade bracelets at the reception for you to buy. Good breakfast. Large TV screen with lots of cable channels. Very comfortable beds.

Pros: The real fast is really nice, great choice of breads, spreads, drinks and lactose free milks! The view is amazing, the spa really relaxing, and the massages good too.
Cons: The bus into Salzburg isn’t very regular in evenings, but the last one’s quite late so you just have to take note of the schedule and keep on top of it. Worth the journey for the gorgeous countryside view though!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The service was fantastic and the property, gardens and pool area were amazing. Our stay couldn't have been any better!
Cons: Nothing.
6.7 Good
Pros: Really nice hotel, the swimming pool is small but exceptional, the spa and the fittness is really nice parking is also provided. The breakfast was also nice. Let alone my room which I was unhappy about I found the hotel in general a eally nice place to stay.
Cons: The room that was given to me (109) was a room that should have been renovated, especially the bathroom. There was mold next to the tub. The bathroom overall was really poor. The washbasin was broken, the tap was adversely connected to the hot/cool water, the toilet got colored by the iron particles in the water and looked as if it was dirty. There were broken tiles on the floor and the wall. This is not what I expected from a hotel that is 4 stars superior and has a good reputation. The room was facing towards the street and was really noisy overnights. I had to use earbuds.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The ambiance at the swimming pool area and the SPA on the top floor and of course the most delicious breakfast in a nicely decorated breakfast lounge
Cons: No air conditioning
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Our stay was amazing! The room was really good and with every necessary thing. The pool and saunas are very good. And the breakfast: the best I ever had. The staff is very kind and polite. If I come back to Salzburg, for sure I will stay there again.
Cons: Everything was good :)
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Location is quiet and very accessible to Salzburg Facilities are great, indoor or outdoor pool, tennis courts indoors or out , well equipped gym, coffee and snacks readily available, lovely restaurant or a short walk to a hotel, Italian restaurant and supermarket. All in beautiful surroundings
Cons: No Aircon, the only complaint
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Such a perfect base for visiting Salzburg and the surrounding lakes and hiking trails. The food is outstanding, the staff super helpful and friendly and the swimming in the infinity pool looking out over the mountains is an experience to be remembered. The yoga classes were the perfect start to the day and the beds so comfortable as a way to bring the day to a close. Can’t recommend a stay at Gmachl more highly.
