The staff are very friendly, patient and helpful. The food in its restaurant is so far the best we have during our entire 3 weeks holiday in Germany.
Extremely helpful staff; comfortable accommodation; lovely food; excellent location; appreciated the tourist card which allowed us to travel on the train. we will be going back !
Friendly staff and management and exellent quality of the food We missed a kettle in the room to make our own coffee and or tea
friendly, helpful and considerate staff, a lovely stay and an excellent dinner. n/a
The peace and quiet, and the extremely courteous and efficient service.
very nice hotel and friendly people.
Everything was excellent. I like it so much. Next time, I will stay at it.
Early check-in was useful and the location was quite good. Reception were friendly and helpful. Room was clean. Quality of the "Comfort" room was poor for the price (especially considering the hotel group running it). Bathroom very old and cramped. The hotel itself was a typical Schwarzwald hotel style but although balconies had flower troughs there were no plants in them (mid-summer) yet all houses and hotels in the vicinity did. Slow service in bar/restuarant. Dinner menu and breakfast choice a bit limited/poor. Hotel rating didn't match reality. Website did not mention trainline runs past hotel.
The location of the hotel is right on the edge of the Black Forest, which made a hike quite easy to do. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel was perfectly located for our visit - Europa Park, Triberg, and Felburg.
Very efficiently run hotel. The hotel wasn't full while we were there but was somewhat disappointed with our rooms because the balcony had the roof of the function room/kitchen in front of it. Would have preferred a room with an unobstructed view.
The owner and his staff are very good at taking care of any needs you may have.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Traditional german food was excellent
Extremely good value for money. Very clean. Spacious rooms and large, renovated bath rooms. Excellent breakfast. Great views over the black forest from the balcony. The restaurant is closed on Mondays, the one day we visited.
I was met by the Innkeeper Ludwig who was very friendly and welcoming. He spoke very good english and was helpful with my enquiries. Breakfast was plentiful and the Evening meals were good value for money. Simonswald is situated in a beautiful part of the Black Forest and is ideal place to stay for touring the countryside.
The owners are very friendly, made us feel very welcomed and at home. The rooms were very nice and clean. We could tell that the owners love what they do. The food in the restaurant was excellent tasting and at an excellent price. Food was homemade - they had the best honey and bratwurst I've ever tasted. There wasn't any soap in the bathroom in the rooms.
very friendly staff
Sympathetic staff and atmosphere. Caring and warm people. It feels like you're and old friend while being a new guest. Beds are great!
Our host Ludwig was excellent and made us feel at home. Lovely location right in the heart of the Black Forest not too far from Frieburg so easily accessible. Would definitely stay here again.
Central location in the Black Forest, close to Triberg. The half-timber building was beautiful and well kept. The staff was very friendly, even though only one spoke English, which wasn't a problem. The restaurant is highly recommended. They are very generous with food portions and everything was very delicious. The rooms were clean and comfortable with a nice porch lined with flowers. I would definitely stay again.
They were very welcoming
The location of the this hotel was 7K up a mountain, absolutely beautiful! The dining experience was wonderful, the food was delicious. The bed was just not comfortable...
The location was great and peaceful. The food was absolutely fantastic. It was worth the trip in and of itself.
The owners and staff were very friendly. Everything was first class indeed.
A very well appointed hotel with excellent facilites, very much off the beaten track - by 7 km! Food is good and there was a good selection on the wine list. It would I am sure be an great centre for a walking or adventure sports holiday.
This is the second time myself, my husband and a friend have stayed at Landhaus Lauble and we absolutely love it. We had a wonderful room with a balcony which was spotlessly clean, the food was simply amazing, the only problem being what delicious dish to pick off the extensive menu. This is a family run hotel in an absolutely stunning area and I cannot recommend it highly enough. I can't wait to go back!!! I booked a double room for myself and my husband and a room for a friend and both rooms were really lovely.
cheap sound isolation between rooms not good
the room was comfortable and clean. the menu was very varied and our meal was beautifully cooked and presented and very reasonably priced. all in all excellent value for money.
Charming location/beautiful view/sheep outside balcony. Very small town. Hotel restaurant is the only restaurant in town. Food is good. Hostess speaks very little English. Good little bakery/wine shop run by Frank on the next block.
Friendly Hotel Staff
We have stayed here several times just for one night, and this was the first time we stayed for longer. Once again we can find no fault. The food is superb, varied menu at a good price. We were given good advice about where to visit in the local area, and a free rail/bus pass was supplied.
Although it did not affect us at all, this hotel, being in a quiet country location, would not be suitable for anyone looking for a lively night life!
Lovely family run hotel with clean, comfortable rooms. Good value for money. Superb food with a varied menu.
The hotel is at a good location, at the arrival we could choose from two options. Although the room was facing to the main road, it wasn't noisy. We had very nice breakfasts. Tha tub was ver-very slippery, we had to put in a towel.
Price and location were good (even though it wasn't where we thought it was when we booked - we were after a place near Waldshut, much further south, near the Rhine). Food was also good and the staff were nice despite a lack of English (fair enough - this is rural Germany). Initially it seemed like our arrival was unexpected and it took sometime before someone found the booking and could check us in (we put this down to being late season with few guests?). The only other issue for us was the pillows - we both ended up with stiff necks!
We had a flat tire on a Saturday, and the owner called and found a place that was open and could fix it.
A great hotel, best team and value for money !! Thank you
Nice old fashioned rooms & feel to the hotel. Polite staff - when not outside smoking! Poor location, on the front of a large industrial estate. Poor breakfasts, dozens of flies on food every morning. No food was covered. Served each morning second hand coffee off other tables, the pot was filthy - coffee cold...lazy staff problem. Room nor bathroom was not cleaned for whole 3 days...bed made only. Wifi only in certain rooms.
Room large and clean. very pleasant staff and excellent restaurant.
Beautiful country location. We loved the view, the fresh air, and big windows. Nice bathroom and historic home and decor. The host was very kind and showed us nearby points of interest that we enjoyed exploring. Check-in is until 10pm.
The atmosphere of the hotel. The room was great (large and nicely decorated). We had alse dinner at the hotel's restaurant and was really nice.
the evening meal was nice and the location was fab with great views on arrival we were met by the family dog which growled at us until called off. the hotel was run down on the outside, the reception and bar area were ok. the dinning room floor was sticky and there was cobwebs, indicating a lack of cleaning. our room was tired and the wallpaper was peeling, the towels were frayed and worn out. the breakfast was poor, on the first morning we arrived for breakfast at 8.30am to find very little left and nothing was done to replenish it. the owners small child was sat on some steps in the dinning room eating her breakfast, she then started crying which was quite unpleasant, this was not a romantic break. the hotel was cold, all radiators on frost.
The views were amazing. Nice large rooms, large bathrooms. Walking paths all around - you could spend days just exploring! Nice breakfast. Since it is an old building, you tend to hear through the walls easier. Spot lights on the hotel stay on until midnight, lighting up the rooms on that side - the curtains are not black out and the rooms stay lit up.
Highly recommend this castle hotel. The staff was exceptionally polite, friendly and helpful, the dinner was delicious with large quantities and variety of selection, the view was exceptional, the room was large and well appointed. We truly enjoyed our stay here and would definitely return.
The staff was great and spoke English. The price was high.
Very nice room with a nice view in a lovely nature surroundings with nice villages and friendly people. Fair personnel and a good breakfast. Certainly very good value for money ! n.a.- all was fine
1. The surroundings is calm and peaceful. 2. The room is quite newly equipped even with a safe. 3. The bathroom is tiny but the shower is strong and hot which is very comfortable during cold days The breakfast is up to the level. 4. The staff is very friendly and capable to speak English fluently. 1. The TV is too small. 2. The main curtains can't fully cover the windows, which makes insecure when we turn on the light at night.
Quiet clean atmosphere, Extremely friendly and English speaking for the German language challenged travelers. Dining was a pleasure with a more than adequate menu variety. Child friendly and safe. Beautiful mountain atmosphere in an adventageous location for local events and sightseeing..
excellent stay no
Location in the Black Forest was peaceful and quiet and walking paths were all around us. Dinner and breakfast were very good.
What can I say the hotel and everything about it was superb. None
It was very quiet. Only cash excepted. Restaurant and bar are closed on Mondays.
No English spoken at all. Menus were in German only.
food was good relatively quiet location lack of credit card payment mechanism was an inconvenience
Friendly people and nice location. Construction works on front road spoilt the atmosphere for two days with noise and vibration.
Very friendly and helpful staff, the breakfast was local and fresh
Pleased with the Guest House and would stay again We arrived on their day off and found a note on the entrance door informing us that they would return at 18.00hrs. As it happened we arrived just minutes before, so no problem. Appparently it is the norm for Guest Houses in this region to have a day off. The quality of our stay made up for this minor problem. The food was good too.
The room was lovely and spotlessly clean. The daughter and son spoke good English and were very welcoming. Our breakfast was set out for us in the charming dining room and was very nice. Excellent value for the money. Ver quaint. The host did not speak English and I was initially afraid we could not communicate but the daughter was verv friendly, nice and informative
Pleasant, helpful stuff, good food, hiking the surrounding mountains. You need car for easy access
The surrounding was great. The restaurant is not so exciting !
The rooms were big and clean. There is a river running right behind the house. The included breakfast was very good. The location is convenient if you have a car and want to travel around the Black Forest. The parking was free. We stayed for 5 nights and the room wasn't really cleaned. The room-made only cleaned the toilet, but she didn't empty the trash bin and didn't vacuum even once. There's no soap in the bathroom.
very spacious room and bathroom, very clean and quiet, good breakfast
This a wonderful family run hotel. We are a family of 4-children 4 and 17 and stayed in rooms #8 and 9. Spotless, roomy, comfortable. We had lunch in the dining room--the best meal in 12 days of travel through Switzerland and Southern Germany--gourmet quality. The hosts were helpful with area information.
Excellent food including breakfast. Welcoming, friendly efficient service. Peaceful surroundings and family atmosphere. No soap in my room but my friends in another room did have soap
The staff were most helpful, the facilities were adequate, and it is very well positionedfor visits to the countryside and the city. A lift would have been nice
Very friendly staff. Family atmosphere. Large and comfortable rooms fitted with quality furniture. Very good restaurant. Highly recommendable.
Very nice, very friendly people. Cousy and big rooms. Good breakfast. Very comfortable for this price. Good landscape No shutters on one window.
