Pros: Great staff and management.
Cons: That I had only booked one night.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We highly recommend this calm gem with its breathtaking view of the Drakensberg mountains, the very warm welcome and hospitality of the whole team and last but not least the delicious food in the mornings and evenings. We especially enjoyed the guided and also self-guided hiking tours at the farm's surroundings.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We can’t recommend this place enough. The staff was incredibly nice and the location is stunning. Good food and surprisingly good prices on drinks. Our room was spacious, pretty, clean and the shower was amazing. Lovely pool area. The hikes in the area are beautiful and well marked. The house has lots of different areas to sit so you can walk around and find a nice place to read.
Cons: The dirt road leading up to the house is not ideal but if you take it slow you will have no problem with a city car.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice owners. We arrived very late, kitchen nearly closed but they performed a perfect dinner. The bedroom including bathroom was fantastic with a quit good look at the nature.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was great. More than enough. Staff were friendly and helpful. Willing to go the extra mile for the guests
Cons: Did not like the road leading up to the place. Also not enough information signs. Lack of activities.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast and dinner, the helpful staff, the amazing views on the Drakensbergen, the local hikes, the pool. The multiple living rooms were very cosy. And the fact that they were very thoughtful of the fact that we were on our honeymoon, and added some surprises to our room.
Cons: The road to the retreat was not paved so we had to drive really slow to avoid damage. But it adds up to the feeling of peace you get from being so secluded.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The lodge is located in the middle of nowhere and if you want to calm down for a few days and hike in their area then go for it! The dinners are super delicious, the staff is friendly and helps out any time, they even offer guided hikes for free. Amazing views from the rooms and just beautiful surroundings!
Cons: The 11km gravel road are manageable in a VW Polo but exhausting..if you want to discover Royal Natal or Tugela falls you’ll spend lots of time driving in the car from the lodge. The lodge itself needs some general renovation, the decoration cushions etc need some washing as well, that would make a lot better overall impression.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Liked everything including the evening meal and the breakfast. The Retreat is all you could ask for and we wished we could have stayed longer.
Cons: A signpost from the R74 would be nice, but not essential as every other junction is marked from then on. The authorities running a grader through the track would be nice, but not essential.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location, food, afternoon teas, guided walks with excellent guides, swimming pool
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Cleanliness, attention to detail. Service excellence, willingness to help, friendliness staff f all staff. Quality of meals excellent. I loved that the hotel is conscious of reminding families not to allow their children to be a disturbance to other guests - I loved this especially for a restful couple days, thank you.
Cons: We utilized the horse riding for beginners. Although I am not a skilled rider, I do know that the size of rider vs horse makes a difference. My husband, being a tall man weighing about 100kg, was paired with a rather small female horse, who did seem to struggle a little bit along the way. My suggestion is that the horses are paired to riders with regards to size better for the well being of the horses. Otherwise the ride was lovely, horses well behaved and guide was lovely too. Thank you.
7.5 Good
Pros: good
Cons: Room was not serviced till late afternoon
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Environment is very good.I realy enjoyed my stay.
Cons: Meals.rooms.workers were very friendly.looking forward to come back soon.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Location, the available walks from the hotel and the superb staff.
Cons: The meals were all buffet and whilst there was a reasonable choice we progressively tired of the options after only 3 days.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The reviews are outstanding and the hotel couldn’t be located more perfectly. It’s a large facility so you have space to relax. The guided walks are fantastic and the golf club manager made our experience very good. Thanks Albert!
Cons: The rooms are very dated and dark which means it’s not as bright and relaxing as you would expect for a 4 star hotel. After two days we were ready to leave as we wanted to see some bright bed linen and walls again!! I think the property needs to make the rooms brighter and use less dark furniture so it feels a bit more modern. Also worth noting the dining experience is like going into a school canteen every day. You have to sit in the same seat every night and the music doesn’t fit with the relaxing atmosphere at all. I don’t really often want to listen to Avicii at breakfast!

Cons: Not cheap
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The location, the lovely place, the information and Belinda
Cons: If it’s a really cold winter it’ll be a bit to cold in the room.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Belinda and Andrew are really gracious hosts and made us feel extremely welcome. Belinda is a font of information about the area and we really enjoyed the insights and suggestions she gave us. The dogs! ❤❤ James and Bentley are the most adorable labs and so well-behaved. We loved interacting with them each day. Little Acres is perfectly located in relation to everything there is to do in the area. We loved that we were generally close to everything in either direction. The breakfast! Delicious and generous. We will definitely be recommending Little Acres B&B to friends family.
Cons: Our overall stay was awesome, but some facilities need TLC - the shower enclosure in our room, for example. Privacy curtains/blinds behind the drapes would be great - as is, when curtains are open the interior can be viewed by people walking past the room door or windows, which meant we kept the curtains drawn all the time.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very nice stay at this guest house, completely in nature, where we felt very welcomed by the entire staff. If you need a get away from the city this is a very nice place! Surroundings are amazing, perfect if you like to go walking or hiking. We even had the chance to make our own braai at night in the garden, which was pretty great. Lady at breakfast is just so funny! The two dogs are the cutest
Cons: Maybe the room could be a little renovated, especially the bathroom. But overall it was fine

7.5 Good
Pros: Rooms were very clean and comfortable, rooms were cleaned daily, safe parking.
Cons: Kitchen was not fully equipt, there was no real reception area -caused alot of confustion and miscommunication, there was no designated braai area after we were told that there would be - they made an arrangement for us but someone used our braai the last night of our stay and we were not able to have dinner.

Pros: Super friendly staff. Ready to help with anything (information on horse rides or walking trails), always with a smile. We felt right at home! We had a very spacious room (called Hoopoe). WiFi wasn’t great but we didn’t miss it. Great environment. Would recommend this place! Food was a bit heavy though
5.8 Okay
Pros: Rooms were clean and staff were engaging.
Cons: The dinning and entertainment area was not child friendly. My son fell off the patio balcony and fell into an uncovered ditch below. This incident completely ruined the getaway. My husband was injured when he retrieved our son from the rubble that was in the ditch. Both needed to be checked by paramedics and later reviewed at hospital when we got home. On site first aid kit was not sufficient and paramedics took a long time to respond. This could have been prevented if there were child safe balustrades on the premises.

6.0 Good
Pros: location is great
Cons: the rooms have no tv..
7.0 Good
Pros: Cathkin cottage is a small guesthouse in a secured area in the Champagne Valley. Great alternative if you want to avoid the masses of the nearby Sun hotel (where you can have a decent meal). From this Sun hotel, the Blue Grotto trail starts. The room has no views on the mountains, but it is located at the quiet garden side. We slept well in the comfortable bed and it was nice to relax in the main area (and swimming pool). Breakfast is good, with fresh fruit and eggs. Staff is friendly and we were happy that they helped us with our laundry. All in all, we had a good time and nearby there is a brewery, chocolate shop/bar and a really nice breakfast/lunch/coffee shop: Aweh Ma Ady's.
Cons: We were in room 5 of Cathkin Cottage and found it to be a bit too small for two people. The room would be more suitable for one person. I would also recommend to create a decent door to the bathroom/toilet. Wifi signal is slow, but it works if you are patient enough.

Pros: What a lovely place! Amazing trips with a super cool guide. The food in the evening is very nice and the staff is great. The bar next to the reception is fun and had 3 amazing nights!!

Pros: Nice staff and amizing, well orginized lesotho trip with a great guide! :)
Cons: No towels in the room. No actual door to the room, but a glass door. Bathroom is not in good condition.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very good location, close to Royal Natal National Parc. Good typical backpacker ambiance with everything available to enjoy your stay for few days in the area.
Cons: Noisy during the night, backpacker style.... If you're looking for a quiet place avoid the rooms close to the terrace.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was super dope except breakfast
Cons: English breakfast too dry
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Every accomodation in drakensburg is just expensive. This place is just the most expensive one. But this place is very good and the staff is very helpfull :) We recommend it. :)
2.5 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing
Cons: The team was not nice.. they didn’t share tips and information about the area. Their attitude was do the tracks with us, or nothing. The room was horrible- small, dirty, old equipment, uncomfortable etc. The price was really high with no value at all. The location was far almost from everything. Sorry, but the worth place we sleep in South Africa. Very disappointed after all the good things we’d heard.
5.4 Okay
Pros: Location and tours
Cons: I waited a long time for my food, and when he arrived late I packed it up without my permission.
5.8 Okay
Pros: The atmosphere is nice and “backpacky” The meals were decent and the bar was nice
Cons: Highly uncomfortable! on our first night we stayed in a room with two big windows in its roof waking us up at 06:15 (no we didn’t plan hiking early) and the receptionist didn’t even think of mentioning it to us. Besides that we had a window that was facing the outside of the common area meaning we had to listen to other guests chat all night ( not their fault of course). We were told we would have to move rooms upon arrival so we were glad they moved us to another room. But to our extreme discomfort we found out it was next to the guests kitchen and we had to wake up again at around 06:00 only to hear the sounds of someone cooking(not their fault of course)! Yet again no staff member thought of informing us of this. It was the same the last night we stayed there. Meal waiting times differ highly, we once waited 45 minutes for breakfast sandwiches and sometimes had normal waiting times. Showers were a bit of a problem also, at certain times there wasn’t any hot water. Awful sleeping experience maybe if one is a solo backpacker he could make use of this place and the trips they offer, otherwise I wouldn’t recommend and I never give such bad reviews, unfortunately after this stay I had.

Pros: Owner and staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was air conditioned, very clean, and comfortable. The grounds were well-tended. A previous reviewer mentioned a rough dirt road which leads to the place. The road is not rough. It has a few bumps, but it is easily driven in any car.

7.1 Good
Pros: This hotel actually has more to it than what it looks like on booking. A nice property with lovely walks, great view (at least from our room)
Cons: Nothing to do just around, a bit of a remote place. The swimming pool seems to be unavailable for months, what a shame, it was the only thing we missed on this very hot day. The rooms could be refurbished maybe.

Thank you.
